Glad you saw my post. I'll call about paying by the class, but if I have to join the Y, I'll just stay with my DVD's. I'm going to keep bugging the gym I belong to, 24-Hour, about adding a class at my location. Times being what they are, they probably won't.

Thanks for the info. I'll brush up my basic steps and check on the McNeil Y's policy for attending the class.
At Twin Lakes, I only had to pay $20 for 6 weeks, and didn't have to join.

But if I go to 24-Hour, it's already paid for. The point is, go somewhere - - it's more motivating in a class - - to keep going til the end.

I know the Zumba instructor at the NW Y on McNeil road. I think she does Zumba there on Fridays and Saturdays right now. She is very good and if that is a convenient location for you, you might want to check her classes out. Her name is Ana.

They have Silver Sneakers classes at the Y that had the Zumba class. I'll check back there on whether they might start Zumba Gold. Meanwhile, at home with my DVD, I'm doing 'basics' to relearn the steps.

After the six-week class at the Y, I gained some more weight so it's even harder to move! I needed it more days, not less. The instructor was terrific, and they continued with more classes--one of the reasons I didn't continue was that it was Sunday afternoon.

I guess I really don't need Zumba Gold. I should go to the other 24-Hour Fitness locations that have regular Zumba, and fill-in on other days with my DVD. It was nice starting with the class at the Y, when it was new to most of the people there so I wasn't self-conscious.

Anyway, at my 24-Hour location, I've got the treadmill and elliptical with the big TV screens. Zumba was more fun--but I have no excuse for not moving.

So glad you saw my post. Thanks for responding.

I would talk to the Program Director at your Y. If there are enough members that would take it they would probably be willing to add it. The other suggestions would be checking with senior or rehab centers or communities that have fitness programs.

umba Gold focusses low impact movement, but any good Zumba instructor should show the class low impact variations for any of her choreography. It is also intended for those with physical disabilities or those confinded to a wheel chair.

Does anyone know of a Zumba Gold class, anywhere in the area? I went to 6 weeks of Zumba at Twin Lakes YMCA, and loved it, even though it was too fast. I just kept moving, and it was the first time I could stick with a workout the whole way through without quitting from boredom.

I belong to 24-Hour Fitness, and they have some Zumba classes that are not near me. If they start Zumba Gold at any location I'll drive there.
