Alex and I are ~~

Our tax refunds went into our accounts today!

Campground Owners have water/power etc all hooked up ready for us to park up and set up our trailer. Her official opening is not till May 24th but we can go any time. Alex is waiting for his new floor model HP computer to come first before we go. Our Canada post is delivering it and if you are not home they leave a note and you only have X number of days to pick it up or it goes back. So he wants to be here when it comes.
SO...should be headed to the campground by next weekend emoticon

We are back home and very tired. Told Roger I don't want another long trip for a while. Did a lot of standing which killed my back but lots of visiting with family I haven't seen for a long time. Uncle Hap was there and felt like he's doing well but sure didn't look too well. I hugged him and through his suit jacket and could feel bone. He has really lost a lot of weight. 1 cousin came from OK and another from WI. as well as a couple other states. I represented our side of the family (mom's brother) and cousin Joy was there for her side, (her dad & my mom bro & sis)

Had a catered meal and from another's blog, their cater brought premade sandwiches in plastic wrap. I was concerned that we might have the same but this is a small farming community and catering was 3 salads that most anyone can eat, sandwich meats and cheeses which we picked up as a buffet. Enjoyed the food and the visiting. It was 91 degrees out which is a huge jump, and the prairie winds strong. Tomorrow we will be back to the normal temps.

Read the posts but won't respond this evening. Too tired.

Gail what campground lake are you at in Kansas?
Marianne I am sorry to hear about your trip being postponed.
Eileen safe travels for you today as well as hugs.

Got out yesterday and bought some quilting thread as well as a couple of other quilting things as they were all 40% off. I will continue to work on my current quilt today. I have been playing with the new Featherweight as well as my Janome. Rotating back and forth between. I am really liking the Featherweight and it will be a great addition to my traveling craft time.

Got a load of clothes in the washer and got the front yard mowed yesterday. Frank did a bit of mowing yesterday with the rider using only one hand so he could only do some of the flat parts. He goes for his post op followup on Monday and I know he will be glad to get that out of the way and get the stitches out so maybe he can do a bit more. To say he is getting antsy and bored is an understatement. But he has been doing what he is supposed to do not using his arm.

The youngest GGD Crosby turns one today. No invite to any kind of celebration so hard telling when we will ever get to see her. It just makes me sad and mad stupid Covid and a bit frustrated as I do think we could see her at least outside since the weather is nice. But I'm trying to take it in stride and not get upset. But some days I just cry missing not being able to see them.

Enjoy your day its to the sewing machines for me.

Well we made it to our next destination. Man, there were some rough roads traveled. We were convinced weíd open the camper to a mess but lo and behold, everything remained in place. Such relief. However, we had a small scare after getting here. The frig came up with an error message. I should mention itís a residential frig so it does have the ice through the door and a control panel. Anyway, no book in the camper for the frig to look up the error code. Thankfully we have internet so did a quick search. Solution was to unplug it and plug it back in which is impossible as itís bolted in place. So, Bruce decided to completely shut down the camper, disconnect from the outside electrical box, wait a few minutes and plug everything back in. It worked, error code gone and frig running as it should be.

We are in a campground out in the middle of nowhere in Kansas. Never been here before but so far seems nice. We are next to a lake so that makes for pretty scenery. Thereís a mom and daughter camping next to us in tents. Neat setup. One tent is their kitchen and the other one their sleeping quarters. They are camp hosts. Had quite a conversation with her this morning. Lots of info, wonít bore you with the details.

TC, having no plans can be a good thing. Give time for yourself. Enjoy your lunch.

Marianne, Iím sorry you had to postpone your trip. As much as I like corn dogs, I refuse to buy them. Too tempting. Itís great the aquarium is opening up even if for limited people. That can be a good thing, be less crowded. The roses are downright gorgeous and I really like the camper vase.

Donna, sounds like a pleasantly busy day for you being with family.

Brenda, glad you tests went well. Dry mouth and cookies definitely donít go together. I would have washed them down with a nice tall glass of ice cold milk.

Eileen, continued prayers for GD and I hate it when I donít have all the paperwork together. I hope that gets resolved soon, taxes are no fun.

Good morning team !

Marianne, I do not think Lola being clingy is unwarranted. Sorry to hear your trip to see DS is cancelled but glad you are planning another to the aquarium. Sounds fun. Your roses are gorgeous. I think it is stupid the vets and docs do not let you come in. You already share germs. Geeeeez ! It benefits the patient to have someone with them. I do not know about you, but i get nervous if i expect or get bad news and then only hear half if lucky. I would at least do the phone or zoom during the appt.

Gail, happy travels. Kansas is pretty. Enjoy visiting, exploring and blogging. At least the laundry chores are done. Never was a fan of corn dogs but Mike loves em.

Eileen, prayers for safe travels to Iowa and i hope the day is not too rough on you. HUG....

Brenda, good the colonoscopy is done and very pleased it was a better experience over all. I hope the biopsies are all neg.

Donna, chore day for you also, i see. Enjoy the visit with GD. I hope you get some sun soon. Seems like a lot of rain lately.

No plans today except lunch with mom & brian. Brian thinks i am taking him toy car shopping. He will be disappointed. Mom says no...LOL ! Behavior issues and no room in room for new cars yet. I have meals made for next 5 days. Mike is at his house. He took his 2 dogs so squeek is a bit lonely today.

Unfortunately we have to postpone our visit to my son this week-end, due to circumstances at his end. Yes, weíre disappointed but really no one could have foreseen this blip. Weather here is super pleasant for the next few days, Iíll walk a lot!

Donna, enjoy your week-end, especially with your granddaughter. I remember T-ball. emoticon

Brenda, glad your colonoscopy went well and you donít remember much, LOL.

Eileen, very sorry about your aunt, hope her husband is ok. Sounds like a large family funeral and an endless day of driving. emoticon

Gail, Pete is addicted to corn dogs! I donít like hot dogs (never have, even as a kid) but he buys the frozen corn dogs to have as a ďtreatĒ occasionally. emoticon
Safe travels today.

WG, hope the new sod is thriving. Itís just beginning to get warm enough, for a few days at a time, to make hand watering necessary. We have drip lines everywhere but two arenít working correctly and Pete hasnít gotten to them yet.

Feeling a bit down due to delaying anticipated visit with son; havenít seen him in person for almost a year. We did just renew our Monterey Bay Aquarium membership and they are taking limited member reservations after a year of shutting down, so we can go in person, starting May 15. We booked an RV spot near Monterey and have tickets for May 17. Aside from how wonderful the aquarium is, Monterey has two wharf areas with lots of outdoor eating options and great walking trails.

My roses have exploded. The RV vase was a gift from my daughter.

Not much exciting today . . .Laundry and House Cleaning. The weather is wet and rainy and is supposed to be that way all day so inside stuff it is. Tomorrow is a busy day and the start of a busy weekend. I have to be at our daughter's home by 11:30 so we can go to the granddaughters 1st TBall game together. Then the granddaughter is coming back home with me for an overnight and then later Sunday I will meet her Parents for the handoff back. We are always happily tired after her visit.
Got a load done so I am off to start another . . . later gang.

Thought I had all the tax papers organized before leaving TX. and now can't find some. Worked on that all afternoon. Hope I can finish tomorrow. Need to get to bed early as Sat. we head to IA for my aunt's funeral and need to be on the road at 6 AM. It will be a very long day and long drive home again Sat. night. Sunday will be my rest day.

Haven't heard from GD's parents today but am letting them be as this certainly is affecting them hard.

Hi all!

Today was laundry day. Only took us 2 hours with drive time there and back to the laundromat. We had never been to this one before and werenít sure what to expect. So we went inside to see what it looked like before we unloaded our stuff. Turns out it wasnít run down like we thought it was. Good to have clean clothes again. Then on our way back we stopped for fuel. I went in to pay and saw they had corn dogs. OMG! I love corn dogs and itís been forever since Iíve had one, soÖÖ..I took two. Man, were they good. Looks like itís water for the rest of the day for me. LOL

Tomorrow is travel day. Weíll be heading to our next destination which is my home town of Lyons, Kansas. My best friend lives there and while in the area will see my brother who lives in a nearby town. So, itíll be late afternoon before I get on Spark.

Donna, nice picture of you all. How wonderful for your family to take her in and treat her like one of your own.

Marianne, regarding the dogs, sounds to me like they are just fine especially if they sleep in separate crates. Personally I donít think what you described as them being too close. Enjoy those new glasses. I need to get my eyes checked, I can tell these lenses need to be replaced.

Hey WG, good luck with the new grass. We had some bare spots in our yard we reseeded before left for this trip.

TC, glad all went will for your mom. I pray the doctor can figure out the problem.

Eileen, continued prayers for your GD.

Hey PJ, hope you get to see the grandies. Sorry you are having trouble with sleep but at least you have clean floors now. I think you mentioned in previous posts about table runners. Do you sell them or just make them for yourself and/or as gifts for family and friends?

Good morning,

After discussing it with Pete, he thinks the vet is concerned that the dogs are so dependent on each other it causes anxiety when they are separated. She based her decision on how each barked when they were separated at the vetís office. We had to drop them off in the parking lot and wait for them to be brought out ó our county isnít quite ready to open everything up due to Covid. Frankly, I donít think itís a real problem at this point. It seems normal to me that dogs arenít happy at the vetís office LOL. However, Lola, the dog who had heart surgery at 4 months, is the clingy one, has to be either in the same room with her sister or one of us.

Eileen, thank goodness your granddaughter is getting some help. It is so distressing that earlier intervention was not enough, although obviously therapy has been positive in catching a major problem. But now is the time for her parents to do as much as possible ó once a teen turns 18 parents can be locked out of health decisions and records unless the patient agrees, and the ďadultĒ can make decisions which might not be the best. Itís a sore subject in my family. emoticon

PJ, hope Frank is continuing to heal. Due to the pandemic, I mostly stopped wearing my contacts, after 52 years. Lazy I suppose. emoticon After a day, I do like the new glasses and will probably wear them more than I did pre-Covid. Glad you getting to see your family.

TC, oh my, sorry to hear your mom is in pain. It is good you go to the doctor with her, always helps to have another pair of ears. Pete still isnít allowed to go to my appointments and I canít go with him, like we have always done.

Good day all.

Doc said he does not know what is causing mom's angina and she has an irreg heart beat on/ off. It was irreg a lot yesterday and that was when she was feeling chest pain on left side and into her neck. I sure hope he figures it out soon.

Heather, you are right about the angina. Mom's is not controlled. she has pain daily or more often.

Eileen, I am happy GD is now in patient and not too far from family support ! About time !!

Donna, your family is good looking and mom does not look 90 ! Wow ! A hot tub on a new deck sounds lovely.

Marianne, why does vet feel the need to seperate your pups ? That seems odd to me since dogs are pack animals.

WG, i am glad to hear the sod is growing. Does a 6 year old even understand suicide ?! That is way too young to be even thinking of ending your life. They are still learning, growing, experimenting ! I am just so sad over this. It seems unreal. I wish parents took their job as a parent more seriously.

Brenda, i hope the prep is not too bad. Glad you finally got your fabric.

PJ, I can see why you felt worn out ! Nice presents. I hope the grands get to see you to get them. You are so crafty, you will figure out what to do with your fabric. Surf the web for ideas ?

Went to exercise yesterday after waking up at 3am yesterday morning and couldn't get back to sleep. So I scrubbed all the floors. Slept really good last night but I am just so tired today. I hate feeling that way. I am in my she cave now and will be cutting out squares for a disappearing 9 patch quilt. I have sorted and put away all my scraps it just wasn't working for me right now to figure out what to do with them.

Got a haircut on Tuesday back to my short style again. And it feels so much better. Then went to Joanns and bought a couple of small toys on sale just in case we are lucky enough to see the grands. I have a 1st birthday baby gift for Crosby and didn't want Nash to feel left out. And had made Jillian the doll sleeping bag so picked up a little gift for Jackson so he wouldn't feel left out. Now to see if we can see them again soon.

Went and visited Chris and TT yesterday afternoon. They are doing good. I love their new rescue dog about 1-2 years old a red heeler and lots of energy but so lovable. Their 2 dogs love when Grandma comes to visit. LOL

I will get out tomorrow for groceries and want to look around in hobby lobby. I want to get more of their Sewology thread as it seems to work really well in my Janome machine for piecing.

Eileen that is great news about GD and that it is close for them is a big plus.

Marianne new glasses are always fun. Do you just wear them part of the time since you have contact also? The last pair of glasses I got last year I do not like the looks of them but will stick with them until insurance pays for another pair next year.

Brenda good to hear you finally got your fabric. The mail system is something else. I have been readig a lot about Marshalls Dry Goods in Arkansas for fabric. I would love to go there sometime on one of our trips. And lot of people order from them too

Donna love the family picture Your mom looks younger than 90. That is a good looking group of women.

Our GD finally left the ER tonight at 8 PM and is on her way to inpatient. They were very lucky to get a bed close to home. 2 of the 3 sources were more than 200 miles, 1 NE MN. and the other NW MN.

TC, so glad your mom didn't need any more stents and doing well. Good to hear your back is better.

Donna, very lovely picture of your sisters and you.

Marianne, I disagree with the separation of the dogs. Companionship is very important and it sounds like they aren't Hanging together 24/7.

Hi Travelers. I've been sewing but finished the squares and am taking a break. I did get better at doing them as I got to the end. It was pretty nice when I got the system down. Now I am done and don't have to do more.

TC, good luck to your mom tomorrow. I'm sure it was miserable at work. I've gone in extra many times but quit after a while. It was too tiring and my bones didn't like it.

Eileen, I hope your granddaughter gets help this time. She has been holding on with both hands and seems to be losing her grip. It is sad when such young children like the six year old is hearing such sad comments and needed to copy that behavior. A child that age wouldn't hear about "suicide by cop" from children programming. Hopefully his family will receive some counseling and help to keep him safe.

Donna, love the photo of you and your sisters. It is so good that your parents took in a child who didn't have parents who could care for her. It looks like she feels like she belongs and that is so important. We have family by blood and family of the heart. Both are equal in love and importance.

Brenda, I love Fat Quarter Shop. They have some lovely fabrics. It is nice to get good quality fabric to work with.

Marianne, I'm all for the dogs to spend time together. Since you have them and will keep them, they will remain siblings which isn't all that bad. I know my dog loves when his litter mate comes to visit. Unless they are anxious when separated, they should be fine. I'm glad you like your new glasses and contacts.

I'm off to start watering. It will be 6pm soon and I can water my new grass. The heavy rain the past two days really helped the sod but I will need to catch up and keep it moist. It will take regular sprinkling but not deep watering for a while then I can start watering more deeply and keep things going. DS said he will repair the sprinkles that weren't working before and caused the grass to die. It was too hard when he lived here.

Have a great day.

Way behind, as usual. emoticon
Weíve been running more errands this week since covid restrictions are a bit looser in our area. The dogs saw the vet today, who is happy with their health, but believes we should work on separating them more??? She thinks theyíre too dependent on each other. Honestly, Iím struggling with this point of view. They sleep in separate crates, are fed separately, and hang out in different rooms of the house, depending where Pete and I are working. However, we got a pair of sisters so they could be together when weíre not around.

I also picked up my new glasses and contacts today, really like the glasses, transitional lenses, new to me. Weíre starting to prepare to leave with the RV for a week-end trip to see family. emoticon

Donna, very nice picture of your mom and sisters. Glad you were able to get together.

TC, hope the appointment with your mother was ok.

Eileen, Iím thinking of you and sending emoticon and prayers for your family and especially your granddaughter.

I am so far behind . . .I need to go back and do the reading to catch up. Had a wonderful weekend with my Mom and sisters. We stayed over Sunday night at my sister who lives in Saratoga NY ( about half way home) and then drove home Monday. Yesterday the dog had an appointment at the groomers, our new garden shed was delivered and the guy came to measure for our patio. I told him we aren't in a hurry but I would like it before winter because I want to get a hot tub to put on it for next winter. I have to leave soon for my haircut.
I will go back and see what is happening in your worlds when I get back. Have a great day.
The pic is of my Mom and sisters before we went to dinner Saturday night for her 90th Birthday

Good morning !

Eileen, I am so sad to hear about your GD. I pray she gets the help she is crying out for now. I pray you & family have the support you need. A baby with a gun is unthinkable and wanting suicide by cop ?!

Taking mom for angiogram at 8. Praying she does well and has no more angina. My back is much better today as long as i do not twist or bend too far but my neck & shoulders are still tight and achy.

We have had rain most the day. Enjoying it as we need it. Facts were on the weather news tonight and April has been very cloudy. 2 days of full sun all month. 21 of 24 days clouds. Kind of depressing for natives!

Our middle GD has been taken to the ER this evening as a potential suicide victim and is in full crisis mode. Her therapist called mom and dad that she seemed to be very serious about it by taking pills. I would hope and pray they can now get her into inpatient care. I know the hospital will do a 72 hold un in Peds while waiting. I sat with a couple kids yrs. ago. I am pretty sure this school shooting near us has set off more fears for her. Yesterday a 1st grader brought a gun to school and shot several rounds in the ceiling not at anyone. His reason was he wanted suicide by cop. My heart is crying for her. Asking for prayers in getting her care.

I read the post but not up to chatting. Tammy, yes, massage is good for Fibromyalgia (FM) as long as it's deep tissue.

Good morning !

I called in to work. My back is painful from working short staffed yesterday. Ice/ heat and motrin are my friends today.

PJ, glad you are vaccinated now. Welcome to nursing changing Frank's bandages. I hope you get your haircut soon.

Pat, that was a lot of pies. I remember you talking in years past about this festival and the number of pies you make. i am glad it was a success.

Marianne, loving the haircut for you & doggo's.

Gail, i will try to find your blog. Glad you are having a great time camping. We try to keep an eye on the weather also. I will be curious if you find out what bird you really did see. I use an electric egg boiler or one like this when camping. www.amazon.com/Nordic-Ware-Mi

They work surprisingly well.

Eileen, so sorry about your aunt. Stupid covid ! Happy to hear the grocery shopping is done.

Brenda, happy for you getting out for a nice meal, good views and nice walk. Back away from the fabric store... LOL !! Window shopping is hard to do. The later appt is probably because doc will be late... LOL !

WG, nice you could get some free sod. I hope it grows well. I hope the teaching of quilting goes smoothly.

Sharon, probably weight up from salt in ham and headache from jaw being open so long.

Heather, glad Anjulie got to visit and brings loads of smiles to grammy & pappy.

Tammy, glad you are enjoying the gardening. I love bird watching. Orioles are so pretty.

Hi Travelers. It is cloudy here but supposed to be 40+ degrees warmer in a few days. I spent about 3 hours yesterday putting the strips together but didn't get done enough for DGD to sort and organize them. She has terrible taste, but she needs to practice as that is how we learn how to see colors.

Sharon, I think I hurt for a couple of days after I visit the dentist. It may be from the head position or the jaw position. Either way, if the news was good, it was worth it.

Eileen, sorry about your aunt. I'm glad you will be able to make it to the funeral. It is a very long day especially after all you have done, but it is a good thing to support your family. I'm glad you are getting caught up on things you missed.

Heather, so glad Anjulie got a chance to visit. It looks like she enjoys visiting. I'm glad you are doing fine after your vaccine. How is the dental ordeal going? Are you feeling great yet?

It is a good idea if you have never had chicken pox to avoid the vaccine. I had a patient who got the vaccine without having had Chicken pox. She got a bad case of shingles. She was so miserable and painful.

Gail, how fun to have the birds outside your window in addition to your rooster. I think that men don't look at conversations the same way women do. They hear them differently.

Brenda, I saw that the soft opening is around the corner. I know PJ will be going but it is far to distant for me at this time. Perhaps one day my sister and I will take a Family History trip and see some places our family is from so we can visit en route.

I think you got bumped down rather than up. The doctors must have taken the earlier slot for something else. They can do it if they can justify it as an emergency or something. At least you aren't going to be at the end of the day.

Tammy, I'm excited to see your garden beds Are you doing small patches or raised beds? My aunt has a raised bed that is about table height. Since she is 89 years old, it is a good deal for her, but she lives in the mountains and it just makes it easier for the wildlife to eat her plants.

Glad you are getting your shingles vaccine now. it has been a crazy time. They were talking about that on the news this morning.

I'm going to put a couple of squares together so DGD can visualize the end product. it will be fun for her to help out. I have some projects for her to work on for the new baby they are getting. She needs to feel like the baby belongs to her.

Have a great day.

Hi, friends...

I have been making some small garden beds and container gardening progress. It may have been just a bit, but I was sure tired last night. I will try to do some more tomorrow.

We sat on the deck and saw our first oriole of the season this morning. It was beautiful.

Heather, I always enjoy seeing pics of Anjulie. emoticon

Gail, I hope you are having fun even with some rain. I do enjoy sitting under and awning and visiting while camping. We have some plans to do that the weekend prior to Memorial Day weekend.

SS, will Hayden's house be closer than they were before? Ham sounds delicious, but it is pretty salty. Maybe that is why your weight was up.

Eileen, I recall your posting about massages in the past. Did you get them because of your fibromyalgia?

Brenda, I get my shingles vaccine this Thursday, unless they call and didn't get a shipment again this week. [I DID have chickenpox back in the day and have a couple of scars that prove it. ] I did know that they should be timed; I had my first one back in November and also knew that I should wait until time had passed from my COVID. Question: where did you order your fabric in TX? I was reading about the mailing fiasco.

Marianne, our travel trailer will sure need some attention. We still haven't quite decided to sell yet, but I suspect it will be done sooner rather than later. We haven't been in it camping since a couple of very chilly days in late April 2019. Lots of things have changed with us since then.

PJ, did you see MSQC is opening in early May?

WG, how about a picture of the squares? emoticon

Ladies,

This morning, we picked up some things outside in preparation for rain later this evening. I also saw a ďnewĒbird I think is a Blue Grosbeak but not 100% sure. Saw it while eating breakfast so naturally didnít have my camera ready. Iím thinking it could be an Indigo bunting but waiting in hopes of seeing it again to confirm which bird it is. Rest of today, nothing special planned. Weíll probably sit outside and get in another walk. Already got our walk in this morning.

Eileen, Iím so sorry about your aunt. Itís terrible what this covid is doing to people. Glad to hear your uncle is doing ok though.

Brenda, what a great outing; a lunch, walk and nature.

WG, how nice to get free sod for the bare spots in your yard.

Sharon, I would sometimes get a headache after a cleaning. For me I think it was from sitting there with my mouth open for so long. My jaw was always sore too. But at least itís done for a while now.

Heather, my husband tends to be the one to start conversations with people. Iím shy at first till I get to know someone, then Iím a chatter box. Sometimes heís outside doing something and gets in conversation with people next to us. When he comes in I ask what all they talked about and he can only remember half of it. Thatíll teach me for not being out there listening.

To everyone else, have a good day.

Eileen....sorry to hear about your Aunt
Sharon....that is weird getting a headache after your teeth cleaning
WG.....can you get a picture for us of the quilt with the small squares? Would love to see it.
Brenda.... Your day Sunday sounded like ones I love. Love eating outside & love a walk around a lake.
Gail....I always like exploring a new Campground. ( Alex not so much lol ) Sometimes I am gone for a couple of hours because I stop and chat with people as I explore. When I get back to our trailer~~ Alex will ask....* OK...who all did you see? Where are they from? How many kids do they have? Where are they headed to? emoticon And usually I can answer all those questions!
Marianne.....commented on your photo in your pictures that your hair doesn't look a lot shorter.....but after looking at another photo I do see the difference and it looks more thinned out now? the wee dogs ....I see a big difference in their haircuts.
Pat....700 pies in amazing! We have a similar set up and reenactment in costume out at our Park during our Salmon festival. And they cook food * the old fashion way* for the public to try.
PJ.....who is Karen? Tried going back to see if there was someone I missed but can't see anything? I am jealous you can plant so early. Here where we are ....you do not dare plant till at least the end of May. I had a late reaction to my 1st Pfizer vaccine. Was fine until about a week after then had 4 days of feeling blah! Back to myself now.
TC....glad you & Mike have a RV camping planned. That will do you the world of good! As the old saying goes....A change is as good as a rest! How is your Mom?
Tammy.....I had a blood test done a while back that told the Dr I never had the chicken pox as a child.....so do not have that virus sitting dormant. That means I should not get the shingles. So I am not going to bother with the vaccine. They are very expensive here and not covered.

Anjulie came to visit Sunday. She had loads of fun & giggles with Alexa emoticon

A quiet morning. And another cloudy day. We really haven't seen the sun since returning. North of us got rain and some area hail. We got nothing. Tomorrow rains predicted will go south of us so missing out again. We stayed in the very low 50's today while Duluth was in the 30's but Omaha was 91.We are on the cold side of the stationary front.

Went grocery shopping and had lots to get as we left most things in the frig in RGV. Costed about what I thought we would pay. Have to go to Cub tomorrow for hamburger on special at $1.99/lb.

Aunt Charlette funeral is Sat. and it's open so all family and friends may attend. Mom thought Uncle Hap would be there too. Will be taking a 4 hr. drive down to IA and then later a return home trip. It will be a long day.

Chaska clean up day is Sat. so we hope Jason can take things to the compost area for us if we get the truck loaded. Yard is now raked and cleaned up for now.

Good Evening
I went to the dentist first thing this morning for a 6 month checkup and cleaning. I don’t know why but after they work on my teeth, I get a headache. So I haven’t done much today.

We had a nice visit with the Price family yesterday. The ham Doreen made was so good. I must have over indulged as my weight was up today. They gave us some leftover ham so we are going to have ham on buns for supper.

The weather is warming up nicely today and it’s a bonus the sun is shining.

Hi Travelers. It is raining here today which is great for me. Aside from the drought which has been declared "extreme," on Saturday my next door neighbor got sod for his back yard. When they moved in there was no grass anywhere. They had dogs and apparently quit watering it so it was nothing but a terrible mess. The neighbor put in new sprinklers and sodded Saturday. He had leftover sod so he gave me some and I was able to put some where the grass has died the past few years DT the sprinklers not working well. I watered Saturday very well and needed to yesterday but didn't do all of it. Today it is supposed to rain the 1/2 inch Marianne got. It will be great for the grass.

I read the posts but have to send the quilt squares (I counted and there are 51 pieces of fabric in each square) by Wednesday so I have to put them together. I did take apart about a third of the squares and redid them as I wasn't happy with them. I do agree that that is very small pieces and it is a pain but it is quite cute when it is put together. I will make 3 squares with scraps from the masks and make a table runner. My poor hands hate life right now.

I'm excited to see all the things that you are doing to embrace life and enjoy it even with the difficulties of the past year. I'm so grateful that we can see loved ones again and spend time with those we have missed so much. I'm grateful for safe travels and the opening of spring and sunshine and warmth.

Have a great day.

We have been cleaning up the leftover tubs and getting things put away. I think it's pretty well done. Made a loaf of bread for Roger and was going to make one for me but no eggs! That's our job tomorrow, grocery shopping and the bill is going to be big. Looking in the frig we find milk, applesauce, potatoes and tangerines. I was able to make hamburger gravy and opened a can of peas.

Mom called with news of the death of my aunt from Covid. A while ago I mentioned both my aunt and uncle hospitalized with Covid. She lost the battle this afternoon. My uncle had been transferred to a heart hospital after clearing of Covid and he is doing fairly well. We ae now waiting to hear when and where the services will be. I am guessing in my hometown in IA. so a trip will be in the future.

Sharon, we have been running in the 40's as well. Tomorrow it's to be 67. Will enjoy if true.

TC, I have a feeling all the little projects you have waiting for you will still be there when you feel like doing them. I understand the need to just relax.

PJ, your comment about a hurricane brought to mind of missing a tornado in far north central TX on Fri. It wasn't really close to our usual roads but close enough. Saw a video of it and it was big. A hurricane isn't what the south needs. But that's one reason we took our older car down and the newer one up. Glad you got some fabrics to enjoy using.
Glad you got your 2nd shots!

Pat, glad your festival went well. I do enjoy working those but tired afterwards tired as you said. 700 hundred pies made and sold, Wow!! Bet they were delicious.

Marianne, nice picture with new hair cuts. Glad you got the rain. Hope you get more.

Gail, I have an electric egg boiler. LOVE it! Seems eggs shell better when using it versus boiled water. We like to explore as well.

Hi all!
Not doing too much today. Bruce dumped the tanks and I puttered around in the camper. It turned warm on us so we have the AC going. We enjoyed a visit from BIL & SIL yesterday. I posted a blog on FB if interested.

Marianne, we have met some really nice folks out camping and some of them we have become good friends. Bruce is big on needing to see weather so we can prepare for it. But I think we wonít be seeing anything dangerous for a while. We also like to explore especially when we are at a campground we have never been to before. Where we are now, weíve been camping here for many years.

Eileen, itís good you two had a good nightís sleep, plus the naps. Glad to hear you are getting things in order.

Sharon, know you will enjoy seeing your friends and the late Easter celebration. Our weather is warming up here in Arkansas. In fact, we have the AC on now.

TC, I had to laugh a little at your comment to Brenda about the prep for the colonoscopy. It does stink! Pun fully intended. LOL Boiled eggs are one of my favs but I donít make them out camping. Bruce doesnít want me to waste the propane it takes to boil them.

PJ, glad to hear you got your 2nd shot done. I think itís awesome you have the talent to put together quilts. Seems like a daunting project to me. I know how to sew but I donít have the patients for such projects.

Pat, wow 700 pies! Thatís a lot of baking but glad they all went to hungry homes. And the festival sounds great!

The rain came and itís done, but we did get the promised half inch. It looks like severe drought in many areas of the West, and I really donít want to go through a fire scare like we did last summer. My new picture shows the dogs and me with our new hair cuts. emoticon

Sharon, Pete and I decided no more puppies, lol. Nala could love a playmate but you might consider a rescue past the puppy stage.

Iíve been MIA. Our historical society does a festival this time of year called Sassafras days. We have Civil War reenactors and they camp & dress in costumes. We have the museum open and serve Sassafras tea. We also do a bake sale mostly of pies. We started on Thursday morning and baked 700 pies by Saturday at 4 pm! Not a pie was left when I went home. Iím tired but we have a wonderful crew! Glad it was successful and over for another year!

Brenda, good luck with the colonoscopy and glad you stuck to your guns. I have to have one this year...not looking forward to it!

PJ, glad you got your vaccines. My 2 granddaughters have had their first ones.

We got our 2nd vaccine on Friday (Phizer) and a few hours after getting home my energy was gone and finally this morning I feel normal again. But so glad were are fully vaccinated now.

I'm still looking at all my fabric scraps trying to figure out how to start a small quilt with them but yesterday was no day to do anything. I got out Thursday and went to one of my favorite local quilt shops and yep you guessed it bought material for another quilt plus. I now have the main materials for 4 quilts. I think I can stay busy.

We unwrapped Frank's arm yesterday evening still has bandages on but we did wrap his elbow up again just with not as much padding and he was able to sleep better.

Our weather is supposed to be windy but warm for 2 more days so I am hoping I can get out and plant the annuals I bought last week. I did get the boston ferns set up on the porch. Looks like it will be time for me to mow again if it is dry enough.

I got really upset with my hair and moved my appt up from May 4 to next week. Going to get it cut shorter again.

Karen so sad about all the harm done from the winter storm both to trees and animals. The south Texas area really need rain but I hope they don't get it from a Hurricane.

TC I would love to go get a pedicure but just not ready for that yet. Also would love to get a massage not sure where I will get that as I think my lady is not working anymore. I need to send her a message and find out

Hi to the rest of you.

I go by the name of PJ and live north of KC, MO. Winter in East Texas.

Onward and Downward

Its always too soon to quit.

It may take me longer to get to my goal than my original plan but I will get there.

Brenda, glad you stuck to your guns about the colonoscopy and i hope it is good. The prep stinks.

Sharon, sorry for the neck pain. Try some heat on it for a bit or bio freeze. How exciting for the house selling so fast. I hope when it is my turn to move, mine sells as fast.

Eileen, happy to hear the legs are a bit less swollen. I hope it is easier shopping tomorrow. Less crowds.

Gail, sorry for the rain. I hope it is the gentle kind. Glad you had a good time visiting and your pics show you are enjoying your fridays for sure ! LOL !

Marianne, we need to clean our Rv's out also. I partly empty mine out for winter but do not clean it until Spring. It gets dusty in winter which always surprises me. I hope DD having a fever means she built up some good antibodies.

Nothing new here. Eggs boiled for work. It will be gorgeous next 2 days that i am stuck working. Go figure, eh ? Dogs sacked out at my feet. Mike will not be home until after 5pm probably. I have so many projects i could be doing and have no motivation to do them......

It feels more like winter than spring. It got down in the 30's last night and the high for today is upper 40's!

We have been invited to a family get together this afternoon. Unfortunately, not our family but our friends, Ron & Diane. They are having a late Easter get together. Everyone has had Covid and now have their vaccinations so they feel safe. We will go just to see everyone again. It's been so long with the pandemic.

Eileen - it sounds like you are relaxing and getting adjusted to being back home. I still have to stop and think where things are. I'm glad the swelling is going down.

Marianne - I hope you get some much needed rain! I sure don't envy you paying for two dogs vet bills but I often think Nala should have a playmate. All she wants to do is play and Norm and I are not good playmates for her!

Gail - sometimes it's just difficult to comment on everyone's post. I think we all understand. Once my post gets just so long, I end it before everyone loses interest!

Brenda - sorry you have to have a colonoscopy this week. I would be sure and go where I felt comfortable. No problem insisting about that. I do think the prep is much worse than the test itself but good luck on both!

Thanks to all for the wonderful greeting on our return home. We both slept about 9 hrs. last night. Got up and have breakfast with foods we brought with. Roger went out to pick up branches and I took a very long nap in the recliner. We did work on putting things away and the kitchen is looking good. When Roger came back in, he took a couple hrs. nap. I went to the basement to empty tubs in our bedroom and bathroom. Watched a movie then came back up. Still didn't feel like grocery shopping so will go on Mon. No Sun. shopping! But now able to think of what we need which is a lot of things. Had to leave the frig. items in the RGV.

We chose to drive straight through due to having a car packed full up to the roof and several items of value like computers, phones, tablets etc. Didn't feel right about leaving it sit in a parking lot. And the weather kind of dictated us to keep moving. Guess we are continuing a habit we have.

TC, seems my sleep life is usually 5-6 hrs. Rarely 7. Sorry you had to put up with that little sleep. I know the feeling of not knowing what to cook and you do a week's worth. I try to figure it out on a daily basis. Hope you got what you needed.

Sharon, how fun to have your GS getting a house so quickly and be able to sell that fast. Houses are moving really fast here too. I told Aaron that we should put ours on the market way over priced and he said unless we wanted to move, don't. I was kidding as this is our retirement home.
Glad you got almost 9 hrs. of sleep. This is a very rare day for me to also get almost 9 hrs. It does feel good.
I have been doing a fair amount of reclining and walking. The fluids are definitely moving through. Legs feel better.

Brenda, I hope your colonoscopy done with a group that works well with you. A hair cut really makes one feel better as well. Menards here is a huge place to wander around in and we enjoy that too.

Gail, we always enjoy getting together with family. My 2 brothers and us are going to Zion area in July and we should be having a relaxing time and also touring. We have been in the area before but they haven't. But you can never see everything in one visit. Not sure when we will get the camper ready to go but thinking for sure Memorial week.

Hi to everyone and hope the week goes well for all.

Marianne, we were posting at the same time. Glad to hear you are going to get rain. We felt great about the half inch we had in Pharr. Deep drought all through the RGV and half an inch won't do much but it sure greened up the park. We were ahead of the strong storms and heard tonight there was a tornado in north central TX. not far from when we travel. Glad we were well out of the area. Left the RGV with 95 temp to our area at 43 and rain.

Slow & steady makes a winner of us. Even if we hit pitfalls, get up. Know that a new day is right around the corner.
