DH had been suffering from vertigo in the mornings and it got better as the day went on but today he said it lasted all day. Of course, it had to be the weekend so he can't see our PT until at least Monday. I think I also need the PT for the back of my knee but I'm waiting to see if it improves. On Tuesday night, I bent my leg to take my sock off and went into pretty severe pain. I have been babying it and doing a lot of research on how to help it since then. It was a perfect week for Cooper not to be here as it helped me rest it a bit more. Cooper was supposed to come today but his mother sent a text at 7:12 saying he was very needy this morning so they were going to keep him home and take him to the doctor. The doctor said he was just taking time to fight off whatever virus he has but if he isn't better by Monday, they will do blood work.
We learned that the around- the -corner neighbor who parked in the driveway of the across-the-street neighbor had a garage sale today and that's why the truck was there. I think they have learned that they need to inform the entire neighborhood if they do anything like that again. emoticon If not, there will be another visit from the emoticon !
Unless DH is much worse tomorrow, he is joining the entire staff of their K-12 school at 1:15 tomorrow. The mother of two students died and the funeral is tomorrow but due to Covid, it will be a very small gathering. The teachers are going to line the street on the way to the church or funeral home to pay their respects. I am going to use that time to take notes so I can FINALLY get to Lindie's post.
We had another woodland creature visit our backyard for the first time ever ( at least that I saw) and I got a few pictures but they aren't great since they are through a window. Can anyone guess what it was?

I have to go post the last several days on my 5% team and get to bed. DH wants to go to the farmers market downtown in the morning if he feels well enough. I keep telling him he'll be disappointed because it's way too early but I think he just wants to get out of the house.

emoticon

Quick post as I have a dinner event on Zoom with my congregation group, and of course the A/C is running as it got quite hot in here. The fridge will be replaced on Monday -a good day to do that as Gene will be home too, we will put in the freezer what we can for temp and the the other stuff will go in an ice chest - I still have to get 30 min exercise in - the apple watch did not count my floor washing !! No worries, have a great night eh

Cathy, that's exactly what I've been doing and even getting rid of some things that I do love but can't keep. So far, I've been able to go through the process slowly enough that I haven't felt any anxiety over having to part with anything special. I fear that day may come, but hope not for a while. Steve has been wonderful about not pushing me to unload things that HE'S not attached to. If he comes close, I just point him back to his shop and tell him to deal with that before he tells me how to deal with mine. So, we're both doing what we need to do in stages. Today, I'm taking out my baking dishes and will see where they'll fit. Most of my cast iron is already out there, but doesn't have a home yet. It's taking up space on the counter for now

Today, I paid the registration on my '58 and got it insured and am going to drive it out to the ranch today! YAY! That's a big project out of the shop!

Yes Lindie, both houses are now in escrow and we only have less than 2 weeks left on the canyon house. The log house has a 45-day escrow, so it will be a while. Their lender will get an appraisal done in the next 30 days and as long as it appraises for what they've offered, we'll be okay--and I'm not worried about that. The next thing will be to start the purchase of the ranch property and get that going.

DIL1 has some tomato and pepper plants started for me, so I'll have some plants to set out pretty soon. We'll need to spend some time preparing the space first, but we're ready to get going!

Time to run. Lot's to do. I'll catch up with the posts I've missed later tonight. Can't wait to hear Betsy's story!

Morning! I hope to get to the home today--first time since March of 2020! Although I did stop by to drop things off for Bob. His daughter is up from SC to visit him--about 90 minutes north of here.

Lindie--sorry the fridge died! DD1 had that happen to them.

Cathy--glad Andy could find someone else to do the work.

Anne--we are also getting hydrants flushed soon.

Terri--one box at a time! That is all you can do.

Betsy--sounds like an interesting evening. Glad you all could figure it out. Good luck with the Mother's Day gift. DH asked me what I wanted and I did comment I am not his mother. The firehouse is selling roses as a fundraiser so I will get flowers. I listened to a talk yesterday from the WI Historical Society about the Hmong in WI--I didn't know only CA and MN have more in their states. I do know they have the best stuff at the farmers market in Wausau! Zoom is a pain but some things are nice.

Off to exercise.

I didn't want to leave you hanging about the police story. Last night, DH fell asleep while we were watching Poldark so I went into the kitchen to add ingredients to my three starter bags of Friendship bread. My phone was next to DH and "rang" longer than I would have liked but I got to it before it woke him up. emoticon It was my neighbor who is in Milwaukee with her husband while he is in cancer treatment. My heart sunk when I saw her name because I thought the worst had happened but that was not the case. Teri said the man who lives beside her called her because there was a strange truck in Teri and Gary's driveway. I headed right outside without a jacket ( big mistake) and looked over there to see a big truck. It was dark and cold but I figured it wouldn't take long so I kept talking on the cell and walked two doors down, across the street from us. I didn't see anyone in the truck but was able to give her the license number and tell her it was either a silver or white Ford 150. Their garden hose was lying on the ground and ran along the side and to the back of the house so I followed it, hoping I would find a good samaritan watering their grass. The hose was dry and nobody was there but Teri said family members had been watering for them so that was normal. I was about to knock on the door/ring the doorbell when the police pulled up to the house next door. The officer had a really bright light that he directed right at me and asked, "Is that your truck?" I told him it wasn't and said I was speaking to the homeowner on the phone and explained what she had asked me to do. I also asked if he wanted to speak to her but he declined. Another officer came, ran the license plate and said the truck belonged to Dennis Schultz. Denny lives on the side street behind Teri and Gary so she breathed a sigh of relief and the police headed over to the Schultz household. Good deed for the day complete. emoticon I am sorry it wasn't a more exciting story but I am also grateful it wasn't. Looking back on the whole situation, I am surprised the police believed everything I said but glad they did. When I got home and back to the bread starters, my phone pinged and it was the daughter of Teri and Gary. She lives over an hour away and I don't know how she found out but her message simply said, "Are you awake?" I said yes and added that the mystery had been solved with the explanation. She was very worried, didn't know what to do so she called the police. The people beside the house also called the police so the officers know the house is being watched well in the seven week absence of the owners.

Lindie's posts WILL appear tonight and/or over the weekend, probably the latter. Cooper is returning after a four day illness so I have a feeling it's going to be a LONG day. Have a fabulous Friday! Can you believe it is already the last day of April and Mothers Day is only nine days away? The pressure is on to come up with a cute gift but I can do it!

Good morning!
Cathy, sorry that Andy didn't follow through, but glad that the other person can do the job at the same price. The teacher definitely doesn't have her heart in her job. I can see blue milk for a Star Wars non-alcoholic drink!

Lindie, bummer not having your fridge! I hope you didn't lose a lot of food. Yes, give Gene a piece of your mind about your ice cream. I would definitely want the same size refrigerator and not smaller! However, if a larger one would fit in the refrigerator space, then I wouldn't mind it. Hope you get it soon!

Dianne, glad you had a nice beach day and that you were finally able to eat out! Hmmm, I think way too many politicians on both sides put party before country and they are out to serve themselves, not their constituents. Not a fan of either of those women you referred to, so I will not go there. The Disney ship sounds like fun!

Terri, definitely don't want to live "Ground Hog Day" like the movie, lol! Bummer about losing an hour looking for the shelf liner, but glad you found it! Glad Anna and Marybeth can use some of your things. I like the idea of how you will set up the cabin and purge. Hope you managed to get the chest emptied and the errands done.

Betsy, Yay, it's Friday! Looking forward to your story about helping the police!

J goes for his 2nd vaccine today. I hope he doesn't have a bad reaction to it, but glad it is Friday, so if he does he will have the weekend to recuperate.

The hydrants in our area were flushed last night. Now the water is rusty. I hope it didn't affect the rectory...it's laundry day! If it did, I will not be washing the whites and lights until I do not see any rust in the water...been there done that...what a disaster for the white t-shirts!

I am very glad it is Friday...but will be happier when I am back home after a day's work, lol!

Going to get moving. Have a good day!

Anne

Terri, if you don't love it, get rid of it. Sounds like you are doing a good job but now it gets harder. Can't wait to hear you say that both are sold and you have a moving date.
Dianne, sounds like a very nice day down at the beach. I. Would visit the bad and hope something unalcoholic served. Lol. I wonder if they will have the blue milk there? They had that at Disney World and we liked it.
Lindie, hope the refrigerator is replaced quickly and the same size. My pain threshold is low in some places and I bruise easily. It was hard surface and then angle of my knee that caused the other problem..
Came home to no work being done. Andy forgot to say yes to his friend, grrrrrr! He did find us another person, a female, who came last night and she will do it for same price. They come today and finish it on Monday. Needless to say that I am very unhappy with Andy.
Today no teacher. I told her to leave work on the computer for the kids. If I feel like it, I will read a bit this morning after getting attendance and then they are on their own.
TGIF!

It has been an interesting 24 hours - the fridge is caput ! The only thing keeping things cold is the freezer, the compressor is gone - we may get a new fridge, waiting to hear on that .. I have it on the highest setting - Gene turned it down last night and my coffee cream soured, he gonna hear about it when he gets home ... lol ... Good thing I did not buy much ...

Gene has been playing with his new toy - turns it on then off then on, we will see what he does tonight when he gets home. I am just leaving it alone for now. I am more concerned about the fridge situation.

My sister came over and helped me move it, clean it, and unplug it then plug back in ... I told management if they have to replace it I want one same size lol

I had to go down town this afternoon to get a couple of rolls of loonies for laundry - its the easiiest credit union to get to and usually NO line ups so I do not mind. I enjoyed the long bus ride and then just took the skytrain home. I got some low carb wraps from the low carb store but I can freeze what I am not using for now - I am tired but I have lots to do yet.

Cathy I am sorry the 3d immaging hurt more then you expected, I would have thought it would hurt less - but I think it all depends on our pain threshold - we are all different - I disliked holding a position for so long for the bone scan too - it was like DONT BREATH !!! but I was not sore from it. Hope your better tonight !

Anne what is your boss going to do with out you when you sell up and move - I hope they take the time to learn this stuff, its their business and they should know every aspect of it ! Hope you had a good day !

Terri, does that mean you have two houses in escrow now ? I hope you got a lot done at the cabin on the ranch - remember the goal is a more simplier life style - so jettison anything that will conflict with that ! Although I am wondering just how simpler you coudl get but you will focus more on your garden soon enough eh

Betsy I do hope you had a good day today, funny thing happened this morning, i was reading posts and thought ... where have I read this before - as you were lamenting about DD2 and what not - turned out I was reading last chat's posts LOL Ok I am with the program now !

Dianne, hope your day went good, did you go to the home, did you see folks you knew and did you make new friends ?

Ok gotta run, I still have to do 30 min on the bike !!!!

Yesterday was really nice—out to the beach and then we found a cute little Thai place for lunch—first time at a restaurant since last March. Today was a church meeting and then watching the rain.

Lindie—I hope your AC works okay in the apartment. Good luck—I only need it seldom. Very few days are that hot for me.

Terri—I hope the sale of the log house goes okay!! Yes, now you need to get a move on! Glad you are getting stuff moved to the cabin. When do you plan to close?

Cathy—I get my mammogram yearly and have never ever had as much pain as you talked about. I think I’d find a different radiologist.

Anne—our heat is off and I will push to keep it off!

Betsy—I know you are busy! My folks commented that my sister had some snow. I hope you don’t have to deal with that! I watched the speech last night—it was SO NICE to see the 2 women behind the president. And the speech was excellent—words used correctly! Full sentences!! Unity instead of divisive language. Just sad to see how many put party over country…

DD1 is dealing with William’s loss a bit better—they got a miniature yellow rose plant from a friend in FL so that will be part of his memorial. I don’t think Esther has noticed William is gone yet—she is the “queen”. DD1 did watch the announcement of the new Disney ship this AM—she wants to book a cruise for summer of 2022—that would be in the Caribbean. It does look like a wonderful ship—with a Star Wars adult-only bar!

Choir practice is soon. Bye for now...

Redoing a day is better than losing one altogether! I've missed some things and nearly missed some IMPORTANT things because I didn't know what day it was! As long as you only have to do it once, it shouldn't be too bad. Not like that movie, Groundhog Day--right?

Steve is working on some finish work on the logs and I'm supposed to be emptying my cedar chest to take to gd Anna. Our big house still has a lot in it but it's beginning to look pretty empty in places.

It took me over an hour to find the box with the shelf liner in it yesterday, but I finally found it and laid some contact paper in several drawers. I also scrubbed some cabinets and then laid down some shelf liner in those before putting some dishes in them. These are all from the canyon house and I still have some from the log house that I'll take out. My everyday dishes are going to Mary Beth and it's most of a 12-place setting. I've lost a couple of bowls and some salad plates, but she can still serve a large group on matching dishes if she wants. As soon as I get the cupboards ready to receive things, I'll start emptying the cupboards here and taking things to the cabin. I figure that will be the easiest way to see what fits and then prioritize and purge some more if I have to--and I'm sure I will have to.

I'd better get back to what I'm supposed to be doing so we can get these things to town today. I have several bags to donate, the furniture to drop at Anna's, some plastic to recycle and a retirement gift I want to deliver if I can.

Terri, I guess we posted at the same time. Congrats on that young couple making and offer and that they qualified for a mortgage, too. Now you really have to get in gear. The move out when well at my house but it was all the prep before and after that did me in. I hope some of your family comes and helps you pack up the rest of your stuff---honestly, that was the worst--unpacking I can take my time and I plan on taking my time and get of some stuff if I can do it without Dh seeing. LOL
Anne, honestly, what will your bosses do if you do move away? Sorry your days of the week were mixed up---how horrible to have to redo a day in your mind. I wish I could turn my ac on but hate to do it this early but next week is going to be pretty warm, too, so it might have to come on and hopefully I won't need heat again.
I am typing from school now---I wish I could have stayed home--I still ache!

Cathy, glad your dining room is empty, but so sorry you are hurting all over! All mammograms hurt...you'd think that they could figure out how to get the pictures without severely squishing our girls! Sounds like that last push to clean out the dining room after the mammogram and the bone density test really beat you up! Hope you feel better as the day progresses! I also hope the work gets done quickly so that your room can be put back together soon.

Terri, yay! to the offer. I hope all goes well for them and you so that you can just focus on the ranch cabin! So glad Auntie Sarah could assist in watching Sadie so that you could work on the cabin!

Lindie, that sounds like quite the shopping spree that Gene and your sister had. Hope she can afford to pay down that credit card bill with her being out on medical leave. I hope Gene doesn't have issues with bugs sneaking in through the cracks where the panels don't quite meet the window frame.

Dianne, hope you had a nice time at the beach. We have not turned off the heat, yet...but will be soon, I hope! Happy Mother's Day, early! Glad the girls got you something you really wanted! Hope the 5k weather is just perfect! Lol to the Star Wars theme for the 5k! I must have missed something when reading about your DD1's cats. It didn't sink in that there were 3 of them. So glad the cat didn't have nasal cancer. Perhaps the removal of the growth interfered with its desire to eat. Glad the other cat isn't having any loss issues.

Betsy, miss you! Hope everything is okay!

I really wish today was Saturday, lol! Yesterday I kept thinking it was Thursday and now I have to go through Thursday again, lol! I have a webinar on the Paid Family Medical Leave for employers. The State needs the employers to sign up to access the information...not sure why, but hopefully will find out. My bookkeeper boss doesn't deal with computers and I don't think my other boss has time to concentrate on the webinar. I offered to watch because I do not want them locked out of their account and since I am the one that accesses the rest of the account for sales tax and fuel reporting I don't want a nightmare. When it comes to government, I wish they would just keep things simple and stop micromanaging our lives...darn Socialists!

Our meeting last night was long, but I think those that joined us were happy to chat about their First Communions and their Confirmations, as well as what we are doing this year with these Sacraments.

Going to get to work so that I can be ready for that webinar when it is time to view it.

Have a great day!

Anne

Furniture and boxes gone. So dusty and dirty in there I had to clean. My girls hurt! My knee hurt! My back hurt! And it was too darn HOT!

Anne glad you got everything caught up even with your late start. Glad you didn't have to cook again for them. I hate choosing one meal but you have to do 2!
Dianne, did you go to the beach? I don't remember who said about bone density. They said no multi vitamin or calcium and mammogram said no deodorant. It was not comfortable on that hard table.
Lindie, hope it helps when really hot. You know you can't tell men anything!
Trying to post today again so less to post tomorrow. I don't plan to have another mammogram. And it was 3D. I bet I will be black and blue tomorrow. They still feel tender..
I think I have most everything packed. Sister unhooked computer and printer. Boys will need to unplug tv and DVD player.

Lindie, I love your story but am glad I wasn't there to be part of it. I hope you and Gene are both happy with the new appliance this summer. Glad too that sis bought a helmet to go with her new bike.

The young couple made an offer on the house and we signed papers this morning. Lord willing, this will be the last time.

We have Sadie today and are taking her with us to the ranch where Auntie Sarah will watch her while we work in the cabin. A new deadline means renewed motivation.

Anne, I hope the hands calm down and let you sleep. There's little that's sweeter than a good sleep!

My sympathies on the loss of the grandcat, Dianne. I know it was well loved.

Time to go~

I have a few minutes this morning before i get busy with spiritual activities with my congregation, so I thought I would tell you the story of the "air conditioner".

It all started when my daughter suggested to tell Gene to get an air conditioner - he said no right away and then as usual - you know that thing, it has to be their idea - he decided to get one. He ordered 2 online but they were small boxes that might cool a 3 foot area - so he cancelled that.

Yesterday his Aunt Alice invited him to "go for coffee" I told him to go since he's not doing anything else but sitting around and besides, maybe she needed to talk about me LOL - so he went. 2 hours later, still no Gene and so I thought, well perhaps they went for a car ride. No worries. Soon I got a picture text of a box - air conditioner with the statement, just bought this ! Then they had to get it upstairs, so while my son got me to get the dolly to bring it up, my sister just pretty well carried it up the stairs and then dragged it down the hall way and into the apartment. Then he had to figure out how to get it "out of the box" well this box came with no bottom and once you removed all the bindings, you could just slip the box up over the item and discard - took 2 attempts for him to figure that out. Then he proceeded to get everything ready - I suggested that he read the manual.

The air conditioner came with a large fat hose and a single hose for water to drip out I guess. Except I had told him we needed one that did NOT need an exhaust, however, he bought what he bought and he is happy with it.

Next came to set up the panneling that came with it lengthways in our window frame and then seal it. The sealing came with a sticky side and you just pull the plastic off it and then stick that to the part of the window frame you need to have sealed, I am sure you all know that since you all have had an a/c - well that went ok, but he didn't put the pannel in correctly and had some areas not sealed but he was ok with it. Then he ran the a/c for a bit to see how it was working. It registered 74 in our apartment - you know our heat is still on, right - I tried to tell him he has a leaky seal that will make the a/c run harder in summer, but I am thinking he is only going to use it on really hot days .... anyway he decided that the sealer he put on the bottom of the window sill would prevent the window from closing at night - meaning he would be removing the whole pannel at night - what's that gonna do ? Never mind, he will figure it out and can sleep in the living room if he is worried about someone breaking in. So when removing the sealing that was stuck on the bottom, he was using a knige and I suggested finger nail polish as that can help with the sticky, but no, had to do it his way. I will just bow out at this point. I did have to move the recombend as I do not want the a/c blowing directly on me when running - and of course Amigo was freaked all day and stayed in his tree till last night. So now I have a portable a/c that can be shut down at night ... or like right now cause we dont' need it ..... lol ... the end, well not quite.

While my sister was out she bought herself a bike - and then since she maxed her visa, convinced GEne to buy her a helmet and other excessories - the end .... for now ...

Sister and her bike.....

Morning! Looking forward to 80 degrees today and a trip to the beach for lunch. We are NOT beach people but it will be nice to spend some time outside in the warm. Heat has been off even though it is getting cool at night so the house is quite cool and will stay shut up to stay that way.

Terri--glad some special pieces of furniture are going to family. Good luck to Steve and the plumbing.

Cathy--my bone density test means lying down on a table--no restrictions on what I can eat/drink for that but maybe yours is different.

Anne--i have one thumb that also hurts--haven't asked if it is arthritis but I figure it is. Glad the Fathers liked your meal.

Lindie--I do like the idea of just walking as far as you want and then waiting for her to come back! I am usually the one that pushes... I got my Mother's Day gift early--I am signed up for a virtual 5K with a Star Wars theme--the shirt has R2D2 on it and the medal is R2D2 with a Star Wars ribbon. So some time between May 4 and May 31, I am to do my 5K. (Mentioned it to the girls and had the email about it within 6 hours! They were happy to have an idea!)

Betsy--I know it has been cold and Wausau had snow on the ground. Hope you didn't get hit with that. Hugs to DD2 for getting her appointment--I hope she can find someone who will work for her easily. I know the first person we had for DD1 was awful--glad I listened to DD1 and believed her. The second person "fit" for her.

They are still very sad. The 2nd cat doesn't have nasal cancer--it was a benign growth. He just seems to be 1) done with wet food or 2) didn't like the medication that they had added to the wet food--so he'll have it "given" to him. The other cat hasn't shown any signs of missing the first yet--but I expect they will.

Going to get my exercise done--I am still sore from the other day so going to do a step class.

Cathy, good luck with the mammogram and bone density exams! I hope they are early so you can take those medications! Yay to the rant working and the cleaner kitchen! Sounds like Howard is much more mobile now...good for him, good for you! I would be so glad to not have to do those IEP's! I didn't realize you had to be a certified teacher to do them. I hate government forms!!

Terri, glad the showing went well. I hope the young family can swing it! Yay to Anna wanting your rocker and cedar chest! Hope Steve finally purchased the right things. I am sure he wasn't too pleased to have to return to the store for a third time! Do you (and Steve) have many more projects to take care of at the log house?

Lindie, sorry your sister can't understand your limitations better. Hope she doesn't get mad at you for not joining her, but it is probably safer for you. You could always go with her and just go part of the way, stop and rest til she turns around and comes back and you walk back with her. At least you do have the bike and you can use that multiple times per day, if you so choose. Sorry you didn't get a pink moon picture or two.

Betsy, I agree with Cathy, Terri, and Lindie...yay to K making an appointment! I hope it is sooner than later and that she likes him/her. Hope the wee little ones are cooperating better this week!

Yesterday actually went better than I expected. I got all caught up at the gas station. I did get almost caught up at the rectory from work that I didn't finish last week and start the work for this week. For a day that started quite late for me it went well. Today I have the women's Zoom meeting, so I am glad that the visiting priest is coming over this afternoon and cooking one of his special meals for himself, Fr. J, and Fr. L. Yay! I don't have to cook! I did cook last night...I picked up a rosemary and garlic marinated pork tenderloin...it was rather tasty...I cut it crooked and the last piece was less than a mouthful. I also made some sautéed mushrooms, reheated leftover zucchini and succotash. I made some Minute Rice, but it was rather boring. I ended up doctoring it up with some butter and basil...it was a bit better, but Fr. J mentioned it was pretty good.

I took some Aleve for my thumb joint. It helped a little, but I did wake a number of times from it. However, it is feeling quite less painful this morning. We did have a thunderstorm last night with a good downpour. Now the sun is shining...wonder if it is going to be a "dry" day and my thumb is being a barometer or if the meds took 10 hours to kick in, lol! I will take another one after I have something to eat...they can be tough on the stomach.

Time to get dressed and head off to work. Breakfast will be between jobs today.

Have a good Wednesday!

Anne

Betsy, like everyone said, Glad she called and hope she got an appointment very soon.
Dianne, glad they did not let him suffer any longer. I am sure the other cat sensed what was happening with his buddy and that nothing really wrong with that one. How was the church meeting?
Anne, hope they give you another cortisone shot to help your hands. You might try the Tylenol Arthrisis formula ---it does help and for 8 hours---but my orthopedic still says ibuprofen is the best when it flares up. I can't do the IEP's---has to be a certified teacher plus I have no idea how to do them---government document.
Lindie, good to know your limitations but adding 5 minutes here and there is a good way to increase the stamina. I still remember you running up the steps to the Lincoln Memorial. Did Gene get the ac unit for the apartment? It might be easier for him to sleep.
Terri, glad Anna wants your rocking chair and your cedar chest. 2 more things gone and they are big space users. Hope STeve finally got the plumbing fixed in that bathroom. HOpe that young couple can get the financing, but surprised the realtor showed them anything without them being approved for some amount.
Yes, Howard takes allergy meds, too. i will try to get rid of the worst of the pollen by sweeping and taking water and a washcloth out there and wiping down surfaces, but more will come in after that. It's always a fighting battle out there and I often don't do anything to it until June when most is done. But we will need the porch the next 2 days for sure---in the 80's here---yuck! I can't take my pills this morning---allergy and B-complex due to bone density scan---I hope it was alright to take it yesterday as I just reread my directions---LOL----but it did say multi vitamin and I don't take those. I am not looking forward to the mammo!
I think I have everything packed ---have a few things to move into the living room or my bedroom that I might need. I still have a couple of boxes left if I need them.
OH, my rant the other night worked. My kitchen looked much better when I got home. Hand dishes washed, counters neat, towels were washed, and he went out and worked on that last veggie bed so now we just have to add in the soil and we can plant our veggies. Oh, and he cooked chicken out on the grill. Burgers tonight and we will eat out the rest of the week with the house under deconstruction. LOL
Hope we all have a good Wednesday. I hope to have time to plant the flowers.

Hi Val! I hope you've popped over here to join the conversation. Feel free to ask any questions about anything that confuses you. We've had a running conversation here for a few years now and find that it's built very real friendships through this virtual medium. I'm Terri and you can check out my story on my Spark page if you want.

The showing went well. One positive thing about having less furniture in each room is that they can see the logs better. They are impressive and show off the house better than my old furniture, but we are sort of in the middle of it all. So I have just a minimum of furniture in a large house, with boxes in various stages of being filled in every room. Of course, if I was as good a housekeeper as Anne, it would never be a problem! I still had Sadie here, but Mary Beth showed up at about the same time as the clients, so she wasn't here for long. She sure is a sweet baby and a joy to have around. As we were feeding her some of my homegrown pureed squash for her lunch, I told Steve, "You know...we made the baby who made the baby who made THIS baby--how cool is that?!"

When we got the msg about the people wanting to see the house, Steve had been pouring some cement outside to finish more of the top of the rock wall in front of the house but he was done by lunch time and was able to get his mess cleaned up before they arrived. They are a nice young couple with some young children but they were still looking into financing to see what they'll qualify for. They said they'd go and crunch some numbers and get back to us so we're hoping for good news.

Today, Steve is working on getting the master bathroom vanity hooked back up now that all the repair work is done. They'd had to move the vanity away from the wall and pull the carpet back to do the repairs. We had the boys help put the vanity back the other day and now he needs to get the plumbing hooked back up so that everything is up and running like normal again. Two trips to the hardware store so far and now he's having lunch so it still doesn't have water to it. We're supposed to go to the coast this afternoon, but I'm not sure we're going to make it at this rate. ***Maybe not, since he just left on his 3rd trip to the hardware store because he bought the wrong fittings! He'll miss being able to do that once we're out at the ranch! LOL

If/when we do go to town, I'm going to take my rocking chair to gd, Anna, who asked for it when I told the family to ask for anything specific that they wanted. She spoke up immediately and claimed the rocking chair, so I told her it would be hers when I was done with it. Steve's aunt (on his dad's side) gave me a nice rocking chair that I'd been using in the canyon house and it's now in the cabin, so I don't need this one. I'm going to offer my cedar chest next and see if any of the grandgirls want it. My mom bought if for me when I was 16 and it's a Lane, but I don't like the style anymore AND my mom has a nicer, larger one that will be mine someday anyway. Time to pass things on, right? Some keepsakes are more important than others and some things just aren't that special anymore and are just taking up space that I won't have in our next home. ***Just msg'd Anna and she wants the cedar chest--Yay! We'll plan to go to the coast on Thursday now, since the plumbing project is STILL underway

I think the front porch should be a nice place for Howard to park himself while the work is being done in the house, as long as the weather is nice. Does he suffer from allergies like you do, Cathy?

Betsy, i'm so glad K made the call and set up an appointment. Will she have to wait very long? I'll be praying that she gets someone that she'll click with and who will be of great help to her.

Lindie, you know what your body can take and how much you'll suffer if you push it too far. So, good for you for holding your ground with your sister. I know that I have to be very careful about walking on uneven ground with my previous ankle injuries and I'm always very cautious about tripping. I really don't want to take a tumble. I don't have time to be laid up in recovery!

Speaking of time...I've been up and down from this computer all morning and it's time to get this posted before I lose it.

All is well, it was a quiet weekend and the family movie was Belle the true life story of Dido Belle, was absolutely a watch again movie ! We all liked it very much. Last night was a pink moon and I saw it but did not get a picture of it. Have been going to the Fraser River for walking from one end to another but my sister insists I walk as much as she is doing and she does not recognise my limitations so I won't be going with her too often until she realises that not everyone can "go beyond their limits" like all the so called professionals say - I told her she needs to respect limitations, and that my doctor is quite pleased how I am progressing and I will not push it beyond what I can at this point - yes endurance must be buillt up but not over night. Anyway - I have the bike to get my exercise and that is fine with me for now.

Dianne, so sad to hear about your DD1's fur baby having to be put down, I definetely know how she feels, I hope the other fur baby is just reacting to the missing partner so to speak and will be ok - but it is natural for cats to go without eating - Amigo occassionally does that - and I just leave him be.

Anne, spread sheet queen you are - that is one program I could not master and don't care to lol I dislike spread sheets and don't use them. Glad you got DH's done and just waiting for him to review. Glad to know the kiddies are doing ok too. Do you take any otc for your arthritice ? I have been taking Tylenol arthritice ( strong ) at night before bed and it helps me sleep, infact my back is less painful when waking up.

Cathy, is your ceiling getting done this week ? Will DH stay out of the way by staying on the porch ? Could your sister have cleaned it for you ? Or did you not want to ask her to ? Too bad for the immitation teacher, perhaps now she put on her big teacher panties and actually do some work.... time will tell, but I am thinking she may not be back, she was more likely more costly then worth ....

Terri, you still live in your house, you still have things to do, your in the throws of moving, any realestate agent shoudl know that you can not keep your house post card perfect for every showing and infact, like Anne I prefer houses that are actually "lived" in and not looking like nothing has ever been used ! How was Sadie ?

Betsy, I saw your wall post - kudos to your DD2 - hope your day is going well.

I had curlers in my hair and now I need to go "style" them - a hat on my head works perfect since I dont want full curl LOL

Dianne, I am sure your DD1 & her DH are sad. I wonder if the other cat is feeling the loss and not eating because of it. My son's dog did that when their other dog passed. She was quite depressed, but bounced back to her usual self when they had a puppy visit...thus, there is a new puppy at my son's...well, a 4 month old now, lol! Glad your irises are opening! Good luck with the action items. Yay to lunch at the beach tomorrow...I would love that!

Cathy, sorry the porch is requiring pollen clean up...I hate that, lol! It probably would be a good place for Howard to be, though. Teacher should realize there will be consequences for actions or inactions. Hope they hold off informing her of any upcoming changes until the IEP's are done. Will you have to do them if she is canned or decides not to come in? You probably would do a better job since you have been working with the kids all year and she has been somewhat sporadic.

Terri, hope the showing went well! Hey, last minute notice means lived in home. I do not understand why the realtors and the prospective buyers what "showroom" viewings. I would actually like to see how the person who owned the home lived in it...I may want to do the same or definitely not want to do what they did, lol!

Betsy and Lindie, hope you had a good Monday!

I did get the spreadsheets re-done. I just need to have J check them over to see if I should erase the old info and put the new info that is in red to black, since the red was only to indicate information that I put in. I was too tired yesterday to deal with it, though.

I got up at about 5:30 to go to the bathroom and head downstairs. Instead of making coffee and getting on with life, I climbed back into our bed and dozed until 7:30. Needless to say, the day is going to be running late, lol! I can not believe how exhausted I feel today! Part of my problem is the arthritis in my hands keeps me awake and/or wakes me when I actually do fall asleep. I have an appointment with the hand orthopedic surgeon...maybe he will give me another cortisone shot. The appointment won't be until the beginning of June due to my getting the COVID Vaccine on 5/12. The scheduler said I should wait for 2 weeks before any other shots. I definitely want to get my vaccine out of the way, so I shall wait.

I have a few days of data entry for the gas station...going to finish that before I head to the rectory.

Have a good Tuesday!

Anne

We did get a text message from DD1 yesterday AM--the cat hadn't come to the door to greet them when they got up. He was in distress so they ended up going to the emergency vet where he was put down. At least they let my DD and her DH stay with him--and he purred a good bye. She sounds heartbroken. I have talked to her several times. And now the 2nd cat isn't eating--and he always eats so back to the vet today. I may be down to one grandcat very soon. That would help with their traveling but my DD will be so very sad.

Yesterday I had my big church meeting--I again have action items coming from that. We still plan to hit the beach tomorrow for lunch--along with everyone else, I expect.

Terri--hope the showing went okay. You still LIVE there so it will look lived in!

Cathy--I do hope she is put on probation and THEN fired. My iris are opening.

Anne--nice of you to redo the spread sheet.

Lindie--hope all is well.

Betsy--I hope it is getting warm enough to take the kiddos outside!

Better get to my exercise!

Dianne, I agree, I don't want the ac yet but we might want it for a couple of days but can't turn it on due to the dirt and dust as the air return for the AC is in the dining room.
Anne, Dh is going to have to survive the pollen on the front porch. He talked about staying out there for most of Thursday as it will be very warm. I guess I should wipe it down and sweep out there before then---of course, more for me to do. Did you get that spreadsheet redone?
Terri, I sure hope you got the spruce up done before Sadie awoke. What did you do with her and the dogs? LOL Sure hope this is a successful showing.
Teacher still whining about the meeting---she is scared---I am thinking they will put her on probation because if they tell her she is not coming back, why should she do the last of the IEP meetings? At least if they do that, maybe she won't take so many days off.
Have a good Tuesday.

Sadie's down for a nap and I was in the sewing room, working on those shirts when I got a msg from our realtor that another agent wants to show our house this afternoon! YIKES! I can't turn anyone down at this point, so it will be a dash to get my shower and do a quick pickup if I can before the baby wakes up.

I just THOUGHT I wasn't going to get much done today

Good morning!
I have been having a lazy morning...tried to sleep in, but that didn't happen. Instead I got up and watched some TV while sorting laundry and having breakfast. Now to get to work, lol! I have decided to re-do the spreadsheets I did for J. After I had a couple of questions for him yesterday while entering info onto the spreadsheets I decided some of my info was no longer done right. He doesn't know. It should be all done this morning, once I verify my answers via a separate spreadsheet that will provide totals for each unit and each category for that unit. I will continue doing laundry during the spreadsheet time...3 loads in all. One is in the washer, one is in the dryer, and one is waiting, lol! I also will do my banking and bill paying.

Terri, I'm sure you were very happy to man the fire! Sounds like the work that was done and the fire have really opened up the space for you. Yay to having the shelving done and organized. Good luck selling the Expedition. Hope the pigs all grow big and strong and that the family gets to keep the 2 extras. Have fun with Sadie!

Dianne, glad you got some music taped for your services. It would be nice to have some during the summer, too. I agree...rather not have to put the AC on, but I hate opening the windows and letting the pollen in. Catch 22! Enjoy the sunshine and warmer temps!

Cathy, sounds like you will be ready for when they come to do the ceiling in the dining room. Glad Michael is feeling better. I hope the gas dissipates soon, thus relieving him of that pain. Do you think Howard would like a taller cane?

Betsy, hope you had a good day yesterday and that the kiddos are better behaved this week!

Back to laundry and spreadsheets! Have a good Monday!

Anne

Betsy, probably too much concentration when playing a game. I sure hope you have a better week with the kids. YOu are probably like me and hope one stays home each day. Of course, mine is just the one---she was out Friday and it made life so much easier in the room.
Anne, maybe the lilacs will do better with more sun. Where I used to live, there is an old lilac bush that is now a tree---all the blooms are up high on this abandoned property. That was a lot of yard work. No wonder you were so tired. We have to do ours in stages. Glad it rained on Sunday so you could relax those sore muscles. Did you get the paperwork done for J? Glad you are sticking to your resolve not to read at those times.
Terri, I am not surprised that you wanted to work on that burn pile. Plus tearing down the last of that decking and adding to the pile did get rid of a lot of mess. Glad Steve found some salvageable stuff while doing that. Did you also pull up and burn those blackberry bushes? It does make sense to get rid of the Expedition with all its issues. Maybe you all should just sell it for parts if no taker. Are any of the grands approaching driving age? But then Steve would still have to work on it---LOL Nice that the shelving units are inside and everything for canning organized and your sewing bins inside, too. Of course there are more to put in there---LOL. Glad Steve could mow the garden area and that you found some things growing already. Michael already wants to go back to work but Ashlie told him while on the pain meds he should not go in. We will see what happens. He took the bandages off yesterday and took a shower so he might feel better sitting with them gone. Lot of pain but I think it is more the gas---she said the pain meds were not helping it all that much but I don't think anything will work on the gas pain--it just has to dissipate.
Dianne, it would be nice for you all to do one more taping to use for the summer. I would want one of those taller walkers, too. Better for the back, too. I would like to get Dh a taller cane to improve his posture---I know it does not help his back using the regular one. Glad the home called you to let you know that they are welcoming back helpers. I hope you see a lot of those you worked with before.
We packed up the china cabinet yesterday afternoon. Just the desk left to do. Probably start on that tonight. As long as the day goes well.
Have a good Monday!

Good day today--church and then choir recorded 3 songs. We are good now till June and may take off for the summer--or do one more set of recordings. Rained this AM but has cleared off so we got a nice walk. I am working on the decluttering challenge--need to get someone where empty my van. Lots of stuff there.

Terri--glad you are making headway! Lots to do, I know.

Lindie--good score with the walker! They are not cheap! I am sure Gene is thinking that he is going to need one and doesn't want to think about that at all. I have seen the walkers that encourage you to walk more upright and you put your weight on your elbows/forearms--I think those are even better.

Anne--sounds like you were busy outside, too. I am going to trim my lilac way back after the blooms are done. My iris will be in bloom this week--just not quite there today.

Cathy--I did get a compliment from the neighbor on my daffodils, hyacinths and iris. I am the only one in the neighborhood with any of those so it is really pretty. Can't wait for the iris to open--all are the standard blue/purple except the few I paid so much for a couple of years ago. They supposedly rebloom but only one or two have done so.

Betsy--my DD2 has a birthday coming up and she requested a pistachio pudding cake that I have made in the past. Then she sent me the recipe to make sure I make the one she wants! Made me laugh! I have the ingredients, ready to make it next month. She will be 31.

I did hear from the home--they are opening back up so, after my 2 weeks are up, I can go back in and visit. Not sure yet what I'll do in the long run but I do want to go in and see who is still there...

We're moving slowly this morning and I'm a little bit sore from yesterday's labor. We had spent the night at the ranch to take care of things and I had intended to spend the day in the cabin getting my kitchen somewhat organized. However, by the time I finished my coffee, made a couple of breakfast burritos (scrambled eggs & bacon in a flour tortilla) and walked up to the cabin, I saw that Steve had started a fire to burn the debris where Adam had torn off more of the rotten decking and privacy fence. Well, you know how I am with a nice burn pile...

I never made it into the cabin but we finished tearing off the old decking and burned all the debris that was no good. Steve salvaged quite a bit of the pressure-treated beams and some 2x8 joists but the rest is all gone. He also cut down a dead pear tree and pruned the dead limbs off some other trees nearby with his power pole saw and we burned those. He used the loppers to cut the blackberry canes and I raked them up and burned all of that too. Then, some smaller piles of leaves and things were raked and burned and the entire area looks transformed. Today is another rainy day, so I'm sure there will be more fires going out there but I'm hoping to work in the cabin. The guys can do the other burning if they want.

We've decided to get rid of my Expedition before anything else goes wrong with it. I will either sell it for parts or just let the buyer know everything we know about it and they can decide whether to keep it on the road or part it out. So we'll be down to one vehicle for a while.

Adam and Sarah brought home all the pigs the breeder brought with her and our club will use all of them. DS1's kids will buy 2 or 3 and the ranch kids will raise 10. Each kid is allowed to enter 2 animals in the fair and Sarah is keeping it simple and only allowing pigs for her kids this year, and bought 2 extras just in case something goes wrong as it has in the past. Paul's kids also raise lambs, so will each have one pig in addition to their lambs to show and sell at the fair. The extra 2 ranch pigs (if they are not need to replace any casualties) will be finished and butchered for the family.

On Friday afternoon, Steve and I assembled the new shelving units we bought for my storage box and got all of my canning supplies sorted and shelved, along with the camping equipment. We also took almost the last of the fabric bins out and stored them. I still have two more that Steve missed because he didn't look in the sewing room, but that will be easy. As soon as we get the floors done in the cabin, I'll move my sewing room and get it set up out there. I'm glad he agreed to my idea of using the bedroom until time for the remodel because it's so nice to be able to sit down and patch some jeans or something without having to drag everything out and put it all away when done.

After we finished that job, he decided to use Sarah's lawn tractor to mow the grass down in my garden before the rain came. He just finished it at dusk and by then it was time to lock the hen house door for the night and feed the dogs. We both fell asleep on the couch in front of the TV without having watched anything! LOL It looks like the onions I planted are doing okay, but I lost quite a few. The garlic is thriving, though, and I see that I still have some carrots growing that should be ready soon. I also found some sugar snap peas that made it through the winter and are taking off. Lots of blossoms and even one pod big enough to taste. Yay!

Anne, I can understand your discomfort with the camera. I wouldn't want to be on TV either. I'm glad you had a productive day and were able to do the data entry for J while he was there to answer questions. It's also good to hear that the kids are doing okay.

Betsy, my BIL doesn't enjoy playing games either. We love it and have a variety of favorites that we can play with young and old, but he does not like to lose and struggles with keeping a good attitude when he does. I find that curious because he's the nicest person you'll ever meet and isn't outwardly competitive. We always play cards with my mom and some of my grands are really good card players, so that's an enjoyable activity that we can share across the generations. I don't enjoy Monopoly and don't play it anymore. It's just boring to me, but the grands like it. Different strokes, I guess. I'm glad you had a good time with the girls and that J liked his cake even though it wasn't as he remembered it.

Dianne, it's great that you came away with some new insights even though you didn't fit the criteria for the study. We can always learn something new, right?

Thanks for explaining the ceiling problem, Cathy. I was wondering why you had to replace it. I'm glad Vickie can handle your PC for you and that Michael is recovering well. Steve did well after his appendectomy a few years ago. So well, in fact, that it was hard to keep him down for as long as the doctor wanted him down.

Lindie, I love the scents of spring flowers! I have lilacs and roses blooming right now and they both smell lovely. When Steve mowed the grass in my garden, I noticed that my chrysanthemums are coming up as well as some lilies. I need to be able to get out there and dig in the dirt soon!

Time to get moving and see what we can get done today~

Good morning!
Cathy, glad your sister can handle the computer take down and set up again. Glad Michael is doing well and is home. Funny that he was wanting Chipotle. Yes, the flag flying between two ladder trucks is very moving! Sorry your assistant pastor is a poor out-loud reader. He needs to practice the readings of the day, tape himself, and then work on some correcting. Glad your irises are doing well. Our lilacs are just leaves right now...I am not sure when they will bud to bloom. Last year they didn't seem to have a lot of blooms, nor aroma. If they are the same this year I will suggest cutting them out...now that the trees are gone, they look kinda stupid.

Betsy, glad your DD's were able to join their Dad's b-day celebration. Playing Scrabble takes some serious paying attention; even little words can score some serious points if they are located in triple play areas. Hope DD2 had a bit of fun playing. Sorry the cake wasn't as your DH expected. Do you think he may have had a different cake at the event that you were at and thought it was the lavender one? Hope you get some rest today!

Lindie, glad you aren't self-conscious about using the walker. It is so much better to be safe than sorry! Funny that Gene needed to get it out of the room. I wonder if he can't believe that you are older than his Mom should be, lol! I sometimes think my kids think I am 45, not 63, lol! Thanks for the Scripture quote. Your Queen Elizabeth park sounds delightful...wish I could visit it. Congratulations to Charise...I hope this program will help take her to a field of work that she will truly enjoy.

Dianne, sorry it took so much time to figure out that the program was for binge eaters. Glad you were able to get a bit of something from it. Glad the cold hasn't bothered your plants. I'm sorry to hear about DD1's cat. How about the other one? Is it okay? Glad the cat isn't in pain so that they can love on it before it passes. Nice that there is a connection with the vet. Glad you enjoyed the garage sales and didn't purchase much.

Terri, I have had 2 windows opened on the phone, but it is annoying...I have to make sure I "click" correctly and not delete the window. With my luck I would delete the chat I was writing not the one I was reading, lol! How many pigs will there be for the 4-H projects? That's nice that the kids can pick their pigs. Yay to fresh eggs! Did a fire ever get started? I prefer area rugs, too. I like having the wood "frame" around the rug and if I get tired of the rug I can replace it, lol!

I did stick to my guns about not reading. I reached out to the other 2 lectors about coverage. I also suggested to the Fathers the name of someone to ask to read.
We did 3.5 hours of yard work yesterday and boy were we sore when we came in! The plant beds are all cleaned up and mulched. There is still a lot more work needed in the area where the trees came out. J is thinking about putting in some evergreen type trees along the property line. He also wants to call in one of his subcontractors to discuss landscaping. The walnut tree which we didn't have cut down probably should have been, but J can handle it. He is going to cut some of the dead branches down and see if it revives from the "pruning." If not, he will cut it down.
No yard work today...it is pouring out. I believe we will both be doing computer stuff for a while. I needed some of his input the other day, so I will work on the stack of data entry for him while I can ask him any questions.
The kids and grandkids are doing fine...or at least that's what they are saying. We all miss each other and are looking forward to when J and I can come down to visit...after both of us have our shots.
Going to figure out what to have for b-fast today...maybe some French toast instead of eggs or pancakes. That would be a nice change; it has been a while.

May you all have a Blessed Sunday!

Anne

Cathy, oh no to the ceiling falling through a bit. DD2's learning disability is only in math and because of it, she will never play dominoes with us. She loves reading and writing and did very well in regular English classes. We chose Scrabble to include her and conned her since it was her Dad's birthday and we didn't keep score. She just doesn't like to play games. Both cakes used fresh lavender and I ordered from the same place so I really don't know what happened. All I can think of is they changed their cake selections to jazz things up a little. I am considering making him something else for his actual birthday but it depends on how the kiddos behave that day. We may just order out. We haven't viewed Mass or eaten yet so I will bid you farewell. Have a splendid Sunday.

Anne, I understand you being uncomfortable with 2nd camera but it is probably to have close up of who is speaking at the altar so that is why not directed at you. But you have wanted to step down from that position anyhow so now is as good a time as any. Time for others to step up, esp. as you might move in the future. But maybe others don't do as good a job as you. Our assistant pastor drives me crazy when he reads scripture---he pauses where he should not and you can tell he is a poor reader or at least outloud reader. Honestly I would love to read scriptures for him but I also don't like when he is the preacher. He has preached the last 2 Sundays as our regular one had to do the funeral for his fallen comrade at the fire station---the first Sunday to get fitted for special uniform and last Sunday for the actual Funeral--they had set up 750 chairs for it and expecting an overflow. There were firefighters coming from multiple states to the funeral. They showed a part of it on the news. The big Flag flying between the 2 fire engines up high on the extended ladder is always very moving. Did you have a nice time with your friend? My sister is very good with computers and will be taking mine apart and I will store it in my bedroom. It will be the first thing set back up once the desk is returned to the room. LOL I do have my laptop and my kindle---will probably use my Kindle more than the laptop or do some of my stuff while at school when possible. She is good at those kind of things.
Terri, so glad to hear that the canyon house is sold and in escrow. Too bad it is not enough to totally pay for your half but a good chunk of it is always nice. Sure hope the log house sells soon, too. But not too soon for you sanity. Fresh eggs for breakfast---you will get to enjoy that more at the ranch when you move there. We had a leak from the roof and it damaged the ceiling so a small part gave way---but the leak was fixed fairly soon but not the ceiling---LOL Yuck to laptops instead of a computer but with smaller house it does make sense.
Dianne, we have just the opposite. No blooms on the lilac yet but lots of blooms on the iris. Much more blooms than last year, too. Mine are just lovely and make me smile when I pull into the driveway. Sorry about your DD1's cat. Hope he is not suffering any while they get the chance to love on it a bit more. Glad you got to yard sale and proud that you didn't buy too much.
Lindie, nice that you got a free walker. Does it have a seat? You can buy a basket for it if you want one or a bag that attaches to it. LOL to Gene's reaction. Often people need them for short periods of time--safer than crutches or a cane. I needed one for a couple of days when my knee went totally wonkers. I was very glad to use it. I have all sorts of old age stuff that he would cringe at---LOL My sis will handle the computer but it's not coming apart until Wed. Glad Charise got accepted into the program she wanted.
Betsy, glad DD1 decided to spend the night. I am imagine DD2 does not feel good at Scrabble because of her learning disability. Not a good choice for her at all. Surprised you didn't play dominoes. I guess DD2 is out of the dog house for her dad's birthday. Maybe they used fresh lavender for the original cake that he liked so much.
I went and got Michael and family food for the day---he wanted chipolte and Dom had to have a burger from 5 guys. It was good to see him. He has 3 incision spots but in the middle of his stomach. One above belly button area, one belly button area, and one below it. He cannot sit upright but can recline on his bed and can stand. He was up moving around when I was there which is good. He had a few boxes for me, too. I came home and Vicki and I started packing up some of the stuff. It took 2 big boxes from the vacuum cleaner and another small box to hold all the dvds. A really big bin for all the puzzles. We have the china cabinet to tackle today. Luckily a lot of the china is still in their original boxes so protected that way and using sturdy plastic tubs that Andy lent us for them. Also need to pack up my desk ---will get the extraneous stuff packed from there---maybe today or tomorrow evening when I get home..
Have a good Sunday.

Both daughters came home today and we conned DD2 into playing Scrabble with us. She would not play Rummy 500 but at least we got her to play one game. DH got his blueberry lavender cream cake and he did like it but it wasn't exactly what he was expecting. I did text April to double check it was the correct one before I ordered. She said it was so I am not sure what happened. April is a former student and colleague of DH and she brought it to our Irish dinner party last year. DD1 wasn't sure if she would spend the night but she did and DD2 is staying until Monday. It's late, time for bed. I hope everyone is having a great weekend.

3 bags full are leaving my place later this week and going to recycling for clothes and what not. I put some almost brand new dresses in there that I can not wear at this time and are no longer the style I like. I also turffed other stuff from my dressers and that but have one more to do. It has been a quiet day today after a busy "lets go here and there" week. Next week will be more structured to the committments I have and less to accommodating my sister. She did bring me a walker over that is perfect for me for long walks - no basket but that is ok, I need it mostly cause its a portable bench for me when my back says, hey sit a bit. Where she lives has assisted living and when the patients pass away their family ( if they had any ) don't bother taking those items so I got one of those. It is in very good shape as well and was wiped down. Gene saw it and said " only 80 year olds use those" and I said and other people who want to walk but need a place to park it when their body is tired. He hurried to get it out of sight putting it in my room ! I just laughed - maybe it is getting to him since he will be 50 this year !

Cathy, I am glad that Michael came through his medical situation ok and is continuing to recover. Wouldn't your sister know how to take that computer apart and put it back to gether or is she just used to lap tops ? What I hope you did was tag the cords and where you took them from. I did that with the VCR and it was so easy to put the wiring back. Did you get the room cleared out ok ?

Terri, I hope the escroll for the house goes well and you can really put that home behind you - it was a good home for the time you had it and served its purpose and now it is time to serve a purpose for someone else. I hope you were able to get lots organized as well. especially your kitchen, and I am thinking it will be smaller then the kitchen you are used to, or will it be bigger ? How did the grands make out with their little piggies ?

Anne - Matthew 5:37 - Just let your word ‘Yes’ mean yes, your ‘No,’ no,+ for what goes beyond these is from the wicked one. - I thought of this while reading your post - I knew the yes mean yes and no mean no but I did not know the latter part. Stick to what you need to do and you will be fine. How was the rest of your day, did you get a lot accomplished? How are the kids and grand kids doing ? You've not mentioned them lately.

Dianne, it is so nice to have a lilac tree, I have always wanted one but of course you can't grow them in an apartment building. Do you trim yours every so often ? We had one at the old place but it really needed pruning (?) could hardly smell any lilac scent. The scents at Queen Elizabeth park were amazing I could have stayed there all afternoon - I found it very relaxing. Alo reminds me we have a tree in our little park that gives off a very nice scent, almost like jasmin but not sure what kind of tree it is. Sorry to hear about your dd1' cat - they don't live long in our age but their own age, her cat would have been considered senior. What did you learn about your eating pattern?

Betsy, if nothing more I hope you are enjoying your time with your family, even though you may have lots of work to do, perhaps some helping hands and chatter along the way will make up for all that. How did the cake turn out ? Or did you buy it ready made ?

I have some good news, Charise has been accepted into the program she wanted so she is planning to make arrangements for that. I am really happy for her as she has been sitting in limbo - thanks to covid, like everyone else - so she is happy to get on with her life.

It is getting late so I will post this and call it a night - post my fitness on the other team and then shut down the computer - not sure what tomorrow's movie will be.

Hey, everyone. Missed yesterday, I guess. Oops. The Drexel study was for people who binge eat—I don’t qualify. Wasted 35 minutes but it did get me to think about some of the times I do over eat. Sounded like it would be talk therapy for those type of folks.

Cathy—my lilac is not sheltered but in full bloom. The cold the other day didn’t see to bother any of my plants. Oh, my to Michael’s appendectomy! Yes, the gas was the biggest issue for DD3. I should have iris in bloom by Monday if it warms up just a bit—I can see color on the buds. And I have LOTS of buds.

Anne—glad you got the trees dealt with. One neighbor topped their trees (looks awful and the poor trees) Thursday AM and another had several big ones removed on Friday so lots of chain saw noise. Good luck sticking to “no” on the lecturing.

Terri—I hope the showing goes well AND the clearing of the rattlesnake area. Glad to know you do have a contract on the canyon—hope all goes well! Also hope you make great progress in the cabin.

Betsy—sorry it was so cold—it was cause my brother from WY was in the state. Hope the baby is born fine. I haven’t really talked to Mom all week since they were there. She did call 2x.

Lindie—again, very pretty photos! Thanks!

Well, DD1’s cat does have cancer and a 1-3 month life expectancy. Turns out the vet oncologist went to vet school with DD1’s former roommate so that was a nice connection. The cat doesn’t seem to be in any pain and this vet will come and do the final shot at home if no one else can come put him to sleep when it is required. For now, they are spoiling him. SIL got his 2nd shot and DD1 will get hers on May 6. Travel is tough to plan right now since they do not want to leave the ill cat alone. So we may not see SIL in WI and DD1 may not go to NC to see his parents until the cat passes.

Did some garage sales this AM—got a lovely warm sweater! And a “beer” shirt for my brother for Christmas—he should like it. It was fun to get out and hit a lot of sales in a small area—town-wide sale.

Hope the weekend is going well for you!

One good thing about posting from my phone is that I can use the speak to text application. The drawback to that is that I can't have two windows open and see what I'm responding to. So, I'll just wing it.

First off I'm very happy to hear that Michael came through the surgery well and is home already. That's the news I was looking for. Next, I see that I have forgotten to let you know that the canyon property sold within 48 hours and we are currently on our third day of a 20 day escrow. It won't bring in enough to pay our full half of the ranch, but it's a very good down payment.

We are still at the ranch but or not watching kids. All four of the kids will be raising pigs to sell at the fair for their 4-H projects. So, they had to go along in order to choose their own project pigs. Steve and I were here last night to make sure the chickens were locked into their house against the Predators, then feed the dogs and cats once the chickens were locked up, and then bring the small Terrier into the house where he sleeps in his kennel to keep him from barking at everything that moves all night long. Then, this morning we did everything the same except in reverse order. We had to make sure the dogs and cats got their breakfast before the chickens were turned out. We also collected about 15 lovely farm fresh eggs, which I have made into a breakfast burrito for us to eat before we start our projects.

Steve has gone up to the cabin to work on something. He said he was going to start a fire, but I don't think he has since it has been raining off and on all morning. Of course, that might still happen before the day is out because it is going to be our last opportunity. I plan to work in the cabin kitchen and see how much I can get put away into drawers and cupboards. If I can empty more of the moving boxes from the canyon, I will have more empty floor space and be able to Envision how the workflow will go in that kitchen. Steve was going to remove the Hearth where the wood heater had been in the living room so we can rent a floor sander and sand the floor. It's not a hardwood floor, so it's not going to be fancy; however, we will put some kind of finish on it to bring up the grain in the wood and then use area rugs which is more my style anyway.

Kathy, best wishes on packing up your dining room and getting the ceiling work redone. What is it exactly that they are doing to your ceiling? Was it damaged that sometime in the past? I hate moving electronic stuff and do not look forward to doing the same thing with my computer. In fact, I fully expect to switch over to a laptop when we move to the cabin and get rid of the PC. Then I will just use my roll top desk as my work station / office. I like that I can close the lid on the roll top and not have to look at the mess. And speaking of mess, I guess I better get my tail up to the cabin and get to work before the kids get home with all those pigs.

Cathy, we were posting at the same time. So glad Michael did well with the surgery. Hope he heals quickly. So glad you met that co-worker on the way into school...Divine Intervention at work! That was no coincidence in my book. The computer shouldn't be an issue to take apart and Michael can put it back together. Just make sure the wires are just push in plugs before pulling the wire, lol. There are some plugs that also have screws...at least in my desktop computers. I think they were the wires that connected the printer and the monitor to the computer. Good luck with packing!

Good morning!
Betsy, love the nicknames for the kids! Glad you caught the Vampire in time to prevent an issue. Good luck with the early birthday celebration and all that comes along with it! Happy Early Birthday to your DH!

Terri, glad your post was still there. I agree..right now is not the time to have to deal with Aunt D's previous caretaker, but it would be sort of nice to stuff her bad deeds back in her face...un-Christian, but kinda of nice. Hope you can get that burn done and rid the ranch of some, if not all, of those rattlers! Yay to possibly not needing to get new rims...that can be VERY expensive! Have fun with Ranch and kid sitting!

Cathy, I hope Michael is doing okay. Prayers being said for him.

Yesterday I was lector at the 9:00 daily Mass. A second camera on a tri-pod was being manned at the front of the church and while I was reading I noticed the camera person was looking at the altar. It was very un-nerving and distracting. All through Mass I was annoyed and distracted by the camera. While I was supposed to be focussing on Mass and prayer, I was wondering what the person with the camera was filming. I almost missed my cue to ring the bells during Consecration. It was at that point I decided to let Fr. J know that I am no longer interested in being lector for filmed Masses. I wish he had been there, but instead I sent him a text. He asked me to reconsider. He also informed me that the filming was going to be continued indefinitely, but he would discuss the need for the 2nd camera at daily Masses. We have been filming Mass during the pandemic...first in the prayer room in the rectory when the churches were closed and then from the choir loft in the church when we returned to the church. I was able to ignore the camera in the loft because it was so far from the altar and I could still look up at the people without noticing the camera. This additional camera is about 15-20 feet from the altar and at the level of the people. I am going to stick to my guns on my decision.

Today I will be going to work and then lunch with a friend. It has been at least 1.5 years since I have seen her...maybe even longer. I will be glad to have some "girl" time! The only other plans for the weekend are to email the other morning lectors to substitute for me, send a notice to the DC women's group, work at the gas station, a run to the grocery store, and J's data entry...not necessarily in that order.

Have a good Saturday!

Anne

First news---Michael came thru fine and was on his way by 11 AM. Warned that the gas injected would probably be the cause of his worst pain in recovery. Our best sub came in when I was swiping in---a very Godly man. I told him and he came and prayed with me---I really truly appreciated that.
Anne, glad those trees are down. Yes, it was the same PT people. We did finish Old Yeller and I cried---although I was on the brink of that all morning until I heard he was going home.
Dianne, did you hear from them about being accepted or denied?
Terri, probably could get rid of his death certificate and their marriage certifcate but I would keep them for a couple more years. Also make sure no insurance policy or bank account that you might not know about to check on when things settle down for you. but I image the rest can be burned. Sure hope it rains so that you all can burn that debris and not create another place for snakes to hide. That is definitely scary to think of rattlesnakes around there. Hmmm, wonder if those solar pest repellants that Anne has would help with that? Just a thought. Sorry you had to do another house cleaning but good that there is a showing. Any news on the canyon selling front? I hope your time at the ranch is fruitful and that you got to organize the cabin kitchen or got more of the garden ready. Hope the rims are salvageable.
Betsy, after the week you had, seems a bit unfair for Dh to want to celebrate this weekend. I hope you are not rushing around cleaning the house for the girls and taking some time to rest up so you can enjoy the visit. Thanks for the prayers.
The book Old Yeller, ends differently than how the movie ended. But still sad, either way. We watched the end of the movie for Fun Friday. Did you know that there is a sequel to Old Yeller? Called Savage Sam. Not on Disney Plus but on you tube if you are interested. We watched pieces of it so I might do that sometime.
I really want to postpone the ceiling repair with Michael out of commission but Andy said as long as he can get us the truck, it will get done. But I want Michael to take the computer stuff apart and store it so he can easily rehook it. So my weekend will look like what Terri has been doing---packing stuff up---and there is a lot!
Have a good day!

My plan was to complete catching up this weekend but then DH decided he wanted to celebrate his birthday early. Both girls are coming and may or may not stay overnight.

The kiddos have been so tough this week that I have seriously thought about taking a mental health day or two but didn't. There's only one quarter to go and then summer will be here with a much lighter load emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon so I will just emoticon .

Dracula nearly struck again today but I caught him just before he got poor little Reid's hand to his mouth. Anne called Mia a ball o'fire and that has inspired me to refer to her ( only here) as Flame. Nellie is Nellie Pie and her brother, Reid a roo is Rooster so I often refer to them as Rooster and Pie. Cooper is Dracula and now Mia is Flame. Flame's mother had her one week early due to pre-eclampsia and although she is on blood pressure medication, her BP is starting to escalate. She is having an ultrasound next week to see how things are and our guess is she will have the baby sometime in May instead of June. Time will tell... Speaking of time, it is relateively late and I have a ton to do before the girls arrive tomorrow, including picking up DH's desired cake and something more suitable for DD1 and myself. emoticon We chatted via text and decided on cupcakes if I can find some good ones at the bakery.

Terri, I hope to hear good news on either house from you and Cathy, I hope your son is recovering nicely. Dianne, it is still cold in the mornings but at least it warms up in the afternoons. Lindie, you post beautiful pictures. Anne, I hope you get some me-time this weekend. Everyone, have a great weekend!

Adam and Sarah are taking the kids to Redding today. They'll stay at Mom's house for the night and then meet up with the pig breeder in the morning and buy their 4H pigs. Steve and I are babysitting the ranch tonight and tomorrow until they get back.

I hope to make some progress in organizing my kitchen in the cabin but we'll sleep in the barn house instead of setting a bed up in the cabin right now. There's still some work we want to do before we start setting up any furniture.

Praying for Michael and all who are concerned with his care and recovery.

Confession: I wrote this yesterday morning and apparently left it and didn't get back--so I'm just going to post it and start another one

4/22
How do you keep a house clean in the midst of all of this? Steve is running the vacuum and I've given everything a "lick and a promise" with a dust cloth and will go back over it later with some polish. The laundry is going, our bed is moved back downstairs into our bedroom to better show the space upstairs, (We moved it up into the common room when we had to spray the nasty chemicals under the house) and I've been working on clearing the counters of the stacks of papers and who-knows-what that has accumulated there. We have a showing this afternoon and everything is a mess.

I have 3 file boxes of Aunt D's records that I don't know what to do with. Some of them are probably important and should be saved for...? Posterity? She had no children and has had no contact with her step daughter since her dh died, so what do I do with his death certificate? Their marriage certificate? Other such documents? Maybe those things can stay in ONE file and I'll just burn the rest. She kept immaculate records and Jenny even took pictures of her desk drawers because she'd never seen anything so organized. The evil part of me would love to show her former "caregiver" how well she took care of herself once given the chance. Remember that she had tried to tell us that Aunt D had dementia and would never be able to handle her own care--while SHE was making free with her access to the checking account and credit cards? My mother warned me that she (A- the "caregiver") might try to claim some money for unpaid rent or something now that Aunt D is gone and I told her that I hoped she would because I still have all the documentation of her theft and manipulation and I would press charges. I don't really have time to deal with all of that, so don't really want her to try--and know that she will answer to the highest Authority in time, as will we all.

I didn't get out to the ranch because Steve needed his truck here and I had enough to do, so no burning has taken place. It's supposed to rain this weekend and that's probably when we'll do it. Adam has already said he's planning to do one more burn if we get rain and then we'll be done until fall. The push to clear and burn debris and overgrowth is to eliminate hiding places for the rattlesnakes. We're sure that there's a den somewhere around the area because so many were found near the pool and near an area where Ben works on his truck. The ground squirrel population bordered on an infestation, so that's mostly likely what draws the snakes in as they will go into the squirrels' tunnels. Sarah is pushing to get the area cleared of hiding places before it's warm enough to wake the snakes up.

Steve got my Expedition rolling again and I hope it stays that way for a while. He didn't order the rims for my '58 as I'd thought. DS Paul says they have a bead blaster at work that he can use on the rusty ones to clean them up and possibly make them usable. So we'll let him try that while we keep working on other things and see if we can save a few hundred dollars.

I HOPE to get back here tonight but no promises. My timer is going off so I need to finish getting ready and drag myself downstairs to prepare for the day.

Have a fabulous Friday blessed with good news!

Good morning!
Cathy, that's great that they have drive-up appointments for the vaccine. I have not seen that here, but also haven't been looking for such a thing. Were the PT people the same ones who came before? Yay to having them be told you can not lift. Hope you can finish Old Yeller as planned!

Lindie, the woman under the umbrella sculpture (or whatever it is considered) is really neat and so is the story. The flowers are lovely, too. Hope the "stink" dissipates quickly! Thanks for the info on your phone. I will need to replace mine eventually, but I hate paying for a new phone when mine works okay...just loses power too quickly these days.

Dianne, what is the Drexel diet or weight loss plan involve? Did you get accepted?

Betsy and Terri, you must be very busy and/or pooped! Hope all is well!

I am very glad that it is Friday! It seems to have been a very long week. Our trees are down. The tree company did a great job. We are very pleased. I will post a picture. I took a couple last night, but I was facing the sun, so they didn't come out. I will try to remember to take them when I head out this morning. Enjoying a cup of coffee and some banana bread right now.

Have a good day!

Anne

Anne, good idea to crop the picture. Can you tell she hates getting her picture taken? The purple does show up nicely except for the strands beside her face---those few strands up to her roots are purple to frame her face. Before she got it colored she always wore it pulled back but she does like having it colored and wants to show it off---LOL I finally got Dh his 2 appointments for his vaccine--his is drive up so he won't have to get out of the vehicle---next Monday and then May 17th. Plus not early either---LOL HOpe your day was uneventful.
Dianne, how did that interview go with Drexel for the weight loss thing? I haven't seen any blooms on my lilac yet but my iris are really beautiful this year. You must have your lilac in a sheltered spot for this early. How cold did you all get? Dh did get out and covered his strawberry bed with a tarp. Some of the plants have flowers on them already.. He wanted to add to it this year and I guess I should go see if anyone has any plants but they do send out runners so hoping some of them took root last year.
Lindie, Yes, manure stinks but eventually the smell goes away. We are used to Eastern Shore Smell---chicken manure being spread really really stinks. Luckily living in town now means we only get a whiff of that occasionally when travelling some back roads. Never heard that story. The closer view shows the girl and the umbrella better. They are pretty. Of course my fav picture was the last one with the orange flowers---LOL Yes, Reagann has long legs---but more from her daddy---she will have her height from him as Shari is short---LOL
Well, PT was told that I could not lift at any time but I could support. And I had to point out a few things to them when they were showing---like you can't take her off the stander without unfastening her feet. And something else but I forget what it was. See, they don't know it all!
The one-on-one was off yesterday and today---yesterday's help was not there when needed so the teacher had to do a lot with her, which meant that I ended up teaching the afternoon class. Oh, well, I read 2 more chapters of our book and did a thing on Earth day. We should finish Old Yeller today---3 more chapters---about 20 pages to read.
Glad today is Friday!

Another lovely day in BC as the sun shines before the rains come - ughh the place across the street had "fertilizer" delivered and spread and now it stinks !!! Good news is it will NOT last long or I will get used to it - one or the other LOL

Dianne, glad you got your exercise in - I still need to do mine but a walk at the river is in store tonight for sunset. I did sleep well enough after 2 times up but slept in till 7 am !! Seemed like I was late all day after that but in reality NOPE - got in over 8,000 steps and have not done that in a long time. I would like to hear more about the study you may participate in OH OH OH you have lilacs - ours might not be ready yet but I will look and see.

Cathy I love Reaghan's hair - its very suttle, not in your face and if you look at the post with your cell phone, you can enlarge the picture to see the strand colours - OH my she does have your legs, does she not ?? I remember you saying something about your legs and DH ... lol ... I hope today went well for you. The 16 weeks between shots is acceptable so I am not going to sweat it, they want to get everyone their first shot and there are shortages of vaccine so better everyone gets their first shot. Time will tell and I will just wait until I get notice to go for the second one. If they offer J&J for second one I will refuse that or Astrazynica. It's not manditory to have a shot. Our restrictions will be final tomorrow and I will know more but it looks like they will consider the "lowermainland" as one area and across into Surrey and byond another area .. meaning we can still go to Burnaby to Walmart ( that's the one my sister likes to go to ) or New Westminster to get fish and chips. Also I took the picture of the sculptures and zoned in one one and the plaque and that. The 4 sculptures are a place for those in love to put a lock on and then dispose of the key in the other place, not throw it away as it might affect those doing the lawn care - many cities have these. and it is from when young lovers would put their lock on city gates. Maybe you can see thelocks when I post the others or look at them wiht your phone or pad so you can zoom in better on the picture. I never saw it before !

Anne thanks for posting the picture of Reaghan - and I use an Iphone X to take pictures, the camera is fabulous and easy to do. Although it did take me a bit to take it off live shots .. but all set now. Hope your day went well and you enjoyed it. Thanks for the comments on the pictures. I am sure more will be posted as I took over 75 !!!

Terri, Betsy hope your day is going well and you are both surviving - BREATH deeply and get things done !!

Morning. It is cold here--37 and windy. I am exercising indoors.

Lindie--I expect you slept well last night! That was a LOT of walking! Good for you to follow the rules--if more people would do that, we'd get this beat. But too many feel their liberty is being taken away--or threatened--and refuse. Sorry you have that issue up north as well.

Anne, I expect you'll have no issues today. Yes, the baby's uncle was about the same size but neither parent is really big. I am glad I don't have to carry him all the time.

Cathy--hope your day is productive.

Terri--I hear you! I swear things get bigger when you put them in a box.

Betsy--I hope it isn't too bad there today. My brother got a turkey yesterday--a big one. He was going out to hunt again with the buddy that didn't get one. Spring IS coming--I picked a lilac today--smells wonderful! I hope yours don't all freeze like they did one year.

I may get involved in a weight loss study out of Drexel. I have an interview today. I would like to drop the last 10 and then stay there.

Cathy, you are wicked! Hoping the child stays home, which would make the PT people have a wasted trip...or partially wasted trip. Personally, I am more wicked because I would hope the child came and had all kinds of waste issues for them, lol! Thanks for the picture of Reagann. I cut some of the background out with the hopes of having her hair stand out.

Lindie, again more beautiful pictures! What kind of phone do you have? Hopefully your sister will stay the course and not give up because she's starting out fast and furious. Hee-hee to catching her in the pictures!

I am glad I have my next shot appointment...I just want it done and done! The UK had been doing about 3 months between their Astra-Zeneca COVID shots so that they could get more of the population the 1st step of the inoculation done. I just read an internet blurb that has some scientists agreeing with the UK method, but at the same time some scientists still want to stay the course. Tomato...tamahto!
I had no adverse effects from the shot...just a sore arm, but not sore enough to interfere with my sleeping...just the normal interference with sleep occurred, lol! The 2nd shingles injection site hurt much more.
I am glad it is Thursday, but sure wish it was Saturday, lol! Just a regular day today...time to get started, lol!

Happy Thursday!
