@Jen: Thank you :-) baby surely will be a runner - and a vegetarian. All I can eat right now are veggies...
As to walkers: no problem for me, as long as I can still run emoticon at least 10K - for HM I need walking breaks too.

Now my holiday is over :-( arrived yesterday back home.
The 10K was great - perfect running weather! Only tricky part were the many walkers, kind of surprised us because we were in a corral in the middle (might have been D, I forgot)

HM was easier, felt more like a run. I was fine until the sun came. Then things got bad! It was so hot! At about 15km I felt like giving up and have a slow walk to the finish line. Then I saw the 2:45 pacer (must have started at the corral behind me) and she really saved my run! She did run walk run intervals and it worked first time for me! Before I always had problems getting back to run after a walk.... I finished 2:46 which is kind of ok...

Would I do a HM again? Hm, no... But then, there will be a Disney HM in Disneyland Paris September 2016 emoticon
Hopefully they have also a 5k and kids run. Yesterday I found out that we will have a baby in autumn emoticon So I ran the 10K and HM pregnant...

I saw a long line for beer in Germany on Sunday and said to my sister that I figured at least 50% of that line was PHM runners having a well deserved post-race beer!

We saw and a lot of runners in the parks and got to talk to a bunch of them - seems like everyone had a great time! We got to Epcot as the race was still going on and I tried to cheer on the runners/walkers whenever I saw them,

We did the 5K and while the weather definitely fit the Frozen theme, it was still a lot of fun. My sister, who walked the race and only signed up because I was doing it, is now hooked on runDisney and is going to start training to run the marathon weekend 10K in January 2016!

It was nice and cool for the 10k and sunny and warm for the half but low humidity and I had a pretty good time with both and am now removing all remaining pain with alcohol in Epcot

I did the Princess in 2009, and I got the retreat package. It really helped with the race. Instead of sitting out on the ground in the cold, we were warm in side, on chairs, had a character meet and greet, food, our own potties, and an area to stretch. Pricey but nice.

ooo have fun!

Or if they'd allow bib-selling that would be good too. There must be lots of people who register but can't make it and could sell their spot to someone ready to go. But Disney seems really strict about that, a lot of races are strict about that.

Magnolia - Totally agree. I registered for the race 7 months ago with the knowledge that there was a very high chance that it would be wasted money and I wouldn't be able to go. But I wanted to know that I wouldn't be locked out.
I'm very glad that I'm able to go, but it really is generally impossible for me to plan a trip 7+ months in advance (I booked this trip about 2 months ago). Although I know people who plan trips way in advance, so I guess some people can do it.

Good luck to everyone doing the Princess HM and Glass Slipper Challenge!

It's too bad the registration opens so early, and sells out so early. It's a little hard to plan a trip that far in advance. I hope to do this race next year, my parents go to Florida for 2 weeks in the winter but they won't decide when til later.

My parents are Vacation Club so we typically are in Old Key West or Bay Lake Tower, I think the former for this trip and the latter for Princess Weekend, since it's a good place for mom to cheer from for the Princess 1/2

My two daughters and I are signed up for the 10K. We are going to try to do a 10K here at home in December, but will have to see if there are any conflicts with their respective club volleyball teams. We are so excited to go back to Disney, and to do this race!!

The past few years the registration has been selling out very quickly. When I first did Princess in 2010, I waited until the last minute no problem. And even when I did it in 2013, I waited a few months. Now, even with the prices increasing every year, they still sell out fast.
Congrats to those that got in

Thank you ladies! I'll try Travel Providers and see if they can help.
I had no Idea this race would sell out so quickly!! I've done RunDisney events before and registration would be open for 3-4 months before they would be sold out. This just shocked me.

NEVADAPP - on the runDisney website they have travel providers listed, some of them have packages for park tickets/hotel that also include race registration. If you are interested in that, I can give you specific direction how to get to that place on the site. The 5K is still open, not sure if you feel like doing that.

Hi Paulette,

here is a list with all disney hotels: https://disneyworld.disney.go.com

on youtube you find lots of walkarounds.

We finally decided for the hotel with the coolest pool - Stormalsong Bay. The Polynesian (volcano pool) is undergoing refurbishments, the pool will be closed. And we have walking distance to Epcot and Studios - we are European so that is important to us ;-)

As to booking: at US Disney World you cannot book yet, UK is open: http://www.disneyholidays.co.uk/walt-disne
y-world/
( guess because in Europe you have to book early because of flights)

as to off- site hotels: no idea. a friend told me he had stayed at Gaylord Palms Resort (they have a Disney/Universal... shuttle) and loved it. 15 years ago I stayed wirh my parents in a rented house which was not so cool ( it was a cold Easter week and the house had no real heating - I was freezing!)

Hi ladies!
It's almost time to purchase our race tickets!! I'm excited!! I still have to secure a hotel. I think I need a list of hotel names so I can do some research on line. Can anyone here post a hotel list for me? Please and Thank You!

I've never been to WDW. I live closer to California so thats where I've always gone. As a matter of fact, I've never been to Florida! (Or the east coast!) This will be a whole new experience for me! There's so much I want to go see... Like the Keys...

Ciao' for now

I've been to WDW about 20 times and to WDL two or three. I'm a big fan.

I think a 10k is acceptable, and non U.S.races are fine as long as they are official races under the governing body of that country. (so, not a training run, for example)

Cool! How often have you been to Disney World?

I have just read at Run Disney that I need proof of time, hf or 10k
would 10 k proof be enough for glass slipper challenge? and do they accept non US runs?

Those are some yummy choices! I've eaten everywhere on your wish list except for Victoria & Albert's
If you cant get an ADR for Be Our Guest for dinner, try to eat there for lunch.
If you can make your trip even longer, go for it!

I want to run all the races!

Now we have to decide where and when to eat...
we have Beach Club from 19. to 1. March, booked via UK Disney with free dining plan. Far too much food! so I'm glad they have signature dining where you need 2 table service credits emoticon
on my wish list:
Victoria & Albert
Le Cellier
Spirit of Aloha dinner show
Sci Fi
Marrakesh
San Angel Inn
Be our guest ( if we manage to get a reservation)

Since we have a 14 day park ticket, we are thinking about prolonging our stay and book for 4 days in March the Port Orleans French Quarter .
Then some days at the Universal Hard rock. It will be our last holiday for some time, we plan to enlarge our family :-)
I am so excited!

It's decided, we'll take the Beach Club. They have the greatest pool :-)
(Polynesian came close second, but the pool will be closed - refurbishments)
As to the monorail: I might have mixed up dates. It was closed february 2014

I have another question: are there any football (not soccer) games in the area we can watch?

I have not heard anything specific about monorails being shut down in February, last year there was something with construction or something specific and the monorails were down the week before the race, but I think that was more of a coincidence than the rule. I'll keep my ears open though, I have a cast member friend.

Hi Nevadapp, then we can run together :-)
I am also a very slow runner, I even never ran a half marathon before

As to hotels: I have read somewhere that the monorail will be closed during weekdays. Is it true?

Hi ladies!
My name is Paulette. I'm 55 yrs and I live near Reno Nevada.

I'm also planning to run this too! I'm paying attention to all the chatter about the hotels. I'm not sure where I'm staying yet either. My trip has to begin before the race due to my work schedule. (I can't be gone on the last week of the month) so I'm coming on the 14th to visit a friend, then check into the hotel on Monday 16th. Do the parks for 4 days then vege the day before the race.

I'm not a fast runner so I will be doing a lot of "wogging". I did the Tinkerbell 1/2 in Jan 2013. It took me 3:37 but I finished! (I broke my ankle during my training) I would like to do better this time. I started my training a month ago. I have to do as much training outside before winter/snow comes. Then the rest will have to be on my treadmill.

Anyways I wanted to stop in to introduce myself and say emoticon

The monorails are running on race morning as well, we stay at Bay Lake Tower every year and we took the monorail to the race for the last few years.

Reservations are 180 days in advance, and popular places will fill that early. You looking for specific food places or types of food?

I read this somewhere: Don't choose a hotel because of its closeness to Epcot, if you are thinking convenience on race day. Only the front entrance to Epcot will be open for the race, and only busses will be running that morning. So no matter where you stay, you will take a bus to the front entrance before the race starts. I think the busses start running at 2 or 3 am. You might want to check on this before booking a hotel.

My daughters and I are hoping to do the 10K. It will be our first time at a runDisney event, and we are really excited. Now if I can just convince hubby to let us go!

Have a great day, everyone!

Well, my favorite resort over all is the Animal Kingdom Lodge. But I love the Boardwalk 2nd I think. If we're talking Moderate resorts, you cant go wrong w/any of them. I love the Coronado & PO French Quarter.

When I make my ADR's depends. If it's for some of the more popular restaurants, I do it as soon as I can.

I want to run all the races!

I like the Boardwalk, it's the home of my favorite piano bar, Jellyrolls, which is where my crowd goes the evening after the run with our medals.

However, for mid priced resorts, Port Orleans and French Quarter are both great, good food, nice pools, nice rooms. Yes, you can walk to EPCOT from the others, but you have to walk through the world showcase to get to the front of the park, so it's not always the best unless you just like to drink wine and eat cheesecake (the gateway is right by France!)

I've been to Key West once from a cruise ship, but our only goals were to see the Hemingway house and eat Key Lime pie, so I didn't notice beaches or lack thereof. However, if you want to pretend you are in a Key West, it really did look just Old Key West resort at Disney, which is my DVC home.

Oh, jet lag will work in my favor, no trouble to get up at 4 am emoticon
What is your favourite? I thought Boardwalk and Beach Club would be best because they are walking distance to EPCOT

As to Key West: according to gogle maps it is a 6 hours drive. The idea was to take some stops along the way, visit Miami

Do you book any of the extras they offer for the run? And how long in advance do we have to make dinner reservations?

No worries, about your English, you are doing great. My best friend lives in Germany.

I think arriving Thursday is a great idea for you. You don't want to be worried about jetlag!

I've stayed at the Beach Club Villas, as I am a DVC member. I like it, it's not my fav, yes it will be expensive, keep your eye out for deals as the time gets closer.

I've also stayed @ PO French Quarter, several times, I love it! I, personally, love the theming. It will be less expensive than Beach Club.

I've never been to Key West, I'd like to sometime. You are aware that Orlando and Key West are pretty far apart?

Thank you! So arriving on thursday 19th is probably best (we will have a 12 hour flight, so a relax day before race is a must)
The Plan is now to stay 8 days at Disney, then some days at Universal (probably Hard Rock Hotel).
As for Disney hotel, Beach Club Resort looks cool, but it would be quite expensive. Or New Orleans French Quarter. Has anyone stayed at those hotels before?
When will there be the best offers? In Disneyland Paris we booked via UK and got a 40% discount. Of course we chose the pink Disneyland Hotel emoticon
(we are going as a couple, the value resorts offers only two queen beds, so they're off the list)

My boy friend wanted to go also to Key West. Do they have a beach there? I have read that no emoticon I have been to Naples Florida with my parents ages age and thought it really boring. Don't think the Keys will be something for us...

PS: Sorry if I get the grammar and/or spelling wrong. I'm German and writing in a foreign language.

I love this race! I've done it twice. As a matter of fact, my avatar is from when I did the Princess for the 1st time in 2010. I'd do it every year if finances would allow it, lol.

I usually arrived on Thursday for a Sunday race. That way I have a few days to chill out before the race, but not so many that I run myself ragged. And then I'd like to be there a week after, so I can take a day or 2 to relax, and then get back to the parks.

It will definitely be less crowded on any day that isn't Sat or Sun, but yes, I prefer to run first and play later because then you can enjoy the food and drink without concern. I usually stay until sometime on Monday, and Mon is pretty quiet.

We are vacation club members, so we usually stay at Bay Lake Tower, and this race is so busy that every Disney resort became a race hotel this past year, so I would think that would happen again, but the AllStar resorts are nice and not too pricey for race weekends.

Staying on property is best because of the transportation issues to and from the race, and the last thing you want after running is having to figure out how to drive somewhere.

I've done this race 4 times.

I'll be curious to see what others say. I prefer to race first and then holiday, so I don't have to eat/exercise on plan. The parks can be crowded that weekend, but shouldn't be during the week after.

I really want to do the Disney princess run in 2015 ( I still have to convince my boy friend )
Does anyone have hotel tips? We are from Europe and the flight is quite long, so we will probably stay at least two weeks. How crowded will it be in the parks? Better stay after the run or before? emoticon
