Hi Char, glad to hear from you. I am sure you have had some difficult and challenging weeks. I have been thinking of you. I am sure your sleep is fleeting. Don't fret over your weight being up; it is hard to focus on that when you have so much going on. That is nice to hear your confidence has grown. Take care and keep in touch.

Marcy, thanks for holding down the fort so that I have somehere to depend upon to come back to. It has been a rough few weeks, cat got a broken leg while I was gone, lighting struck the breaker box outside, not to mention all kinds of other disasters and things I am not used to dealing with. I am hanging in there though.

I don't get much sleep and I have gained up to 170 now. I don't even try to eat right. I am going to have to get myself under control, I know, but right now I don't have a lot of will power.

I have made strides in confidence in other ways, though.

I will try to start posting again more often. There is just so much to take care of right now.

We had a nice day. We got up at 6:30. Marty met a friend for coffee. I took a shower and got breakfast ready. I made waffles and bacon for us (I eat one piece). Sadly we didn’t eat again to darn near 4:30 so I was starving and ate way too much. We took the in-laws and my parents to dinner for Mother’s Day. I had the lean part of prime rib, some mashed potatoes and peach cobbler for dessert. Everything was good but then again I was starving.

While Marty played golf today I wandered some stores; parked half way in between them and walked around a lot. Got a few shirts that were on sale and got an additional 15% off. I love bargains.

Marty will be out of town most of this week for work.

It got warm enough here today I turned on the air conditioning.

I hope you had a great weekend.

Hi everyone. We had a nice little snow storm starting at 4:30 today but it’s finished already. Marty is SOOOO happy. He wants to play golf.

I am very glad the weekend is here. I made us some margaritas tonight and it kind of made me sick and my heart is kind of racing now; I am busy. Ugh. It is really messing with me. Glad I have nothing to do tonight. I am not used to that kind of alcohol; I think I put in too much tequila. Aak.

We are going to a family birthday dinner tomorrow. There will be 14 of us there. Woo hoo. I will get to see my cute little nephews. I think I’ll pass on the margaritas though.

Have a great weekend.

Char, I am thinking of you. Wish I could help.

Hi everyone. Today was another “uber stress”day at work. We were crazy busy for today, had tons of updates for today and I had 2 people out. Ugh. I am so looking forward to slowing down in a few weeks.

I made cheese raviolis for supper (the fresh ones in the deli) with a loaf of hot bread and raw veggies. We have enough left for lunch tomorrow.

We tried the GS thin mint slow churned ice cream tonight. Since neither one of us was a fan I put it in the trash. One thing I won’t do is waste calories on something I don’t like.

I had 20 some papers to grade tonight. The last 3 weeks of school will be busy. Marty said I am putting in more effort on it than I should but that’s not me to just shirk my responsibilities. It’s not my student’s fault they are letting me go.

We watched Top Gear tonight (one of my favorite shows) so I took time out from grading then.

I am off to grade more papers.

My dear husband of 33 years passed away Friday of C-diff. It had destroyed his colon and part of his small intestine. I will be too busy with funeral arrangements to post for a while. I am devastated and never felt so lost and alone.

Hi everyone. We woke up to blowing snow this morning. I think there was about 3 inches on the bushes but the sidewalk and driveway only had about 2 inches of snow on it. I made homemade biscuits, bacon and eggs for breakfast. I only ate 1 egg and 1 piece of bacon but those homemade biscuits were too darned good not to have a second one. For lunch I made homemade beef noodle soup and corn bread. That stuff is so filling I am still full. We did have a bowl of slow churned ice cream awhile ago.

I ventured out to the post office and the grocery store but stayed in my sweats all day and the only things I did productive was cook and do dishes plus grade papers.

Marty sat up auto tune timers for all PGA events – every time one of them switches I tell him his golf is on and he keeps reading so I finally went back and asked him if he wanted to watch them of not. He just sat the time up for the fun of it. I deleted that baby. It kept interrupting my movies.

Char, I am sorry to hear your husband is having bad days. I am sure it is hard on you having to do so much around the house yourself. I hate to hear he is so week and sick too. Hugs to both of you. Work has been awful but will get better in a few weeks. I keep snacking at work or having cocoa so I will be glad to be bored instead of stressed. Bad Marcy, Bad!

Laters,
Marcy

Another bad day. The results showed that he does have C. Diff. At least the doctor sent out the right meds for it. He would prefer to have him at home with it and come in Monday. He thinks the hospital would likely make things worse.

Poor thing is puking up his innards just about and is not doing well at all.

I had to go out and fix the hose so I could water my garden. I bought a Y so that I could run two hoses, one to my garden and one to water our pets.

However, someone must have run over the end of one of the hoses, because it was bent, so I took a pair of pliers and beat it round again, threaded it back on and it kind of works, but leaks some where it is connected. Oh, well, it is the best I can do for now and I don't want to have to buy a whole new hose over the end.

It has been a busy day, with laundry, cleaning, cultivating the garden in between rows, etc. My beans are coming up and my onions are looking really good this year. I have some potatoes already coming up in my barrels. My indoor plants are looking nice and healthy.

Tomorrow I will stay home from church and take care of my dh because he is so weak he could fall trying to get to the bathroom. He doesn't need to be alone in his condition.

I have actually been eating right and today I did without pop!!! Woohoo! If I just eliminate that I will be much better off. I got in the habit again while my dh was in the hospital and it really is hard to break. I like the high caffeine drinks that have all the good stuff like vitamins and taurine, etc. mixed in with the bad stuff.

It is time for bed so I'll say goodnight and good tomorrow.

Today was a bad day for my DH. He had lots of stomach and nausea problems and very tired. This is about the time the chemo really hits him hard.

Tomorrow we will be up early for his MRI so we can see if they can fix his compression fractures so I am off to bed after I type this. The wind still hasn't laid so I probably wouldn't miss anything in the way of star gazing as bad as the viewing with a telescope would probably be.

I tilled some, got some more planting done, walked or I should say hiked across country for a mile, and got the floors mopped. It is down right hot here but I am not complaining. Some like it hot and I am one of them. Winter makes my bones ache and I am always cold no matter where the thermostat is. However, in the spring and summer, most of the time I feel invincible, unless I am having a bout with FM.

My plants are growing in the house. However, this year I am having a hard time getting into gardening. I am going through the motions in order to create some normalcy about our lives, but it is really hard for me to get excited about it. I guess it is because my dh and I used to share the work and now I do it all alone.

I shaved Buster (our Pomeranian) for the summer. He seemed to feel a lot better even though their coat is supposed to keep out heat in the summer. Mainly the trim keeps his undercoat off my carpet (LOL) and that makes me feel a lot better.

I loved Destination Void by Frank Herbert. It is not long, but a must to read as far as I am concerned. I just finished Whipping Star by him which I liked and I am going to start on The Dosadi Experiment tonight.

Marcy, I hope your work is not going to be as hectic and stressful as you think. Hang in there. A month from now will come all too quickly.

Got to get some sleep so will say goodnight and have a good tomorrow.

Hi everyone. My day was as Rod would say “UBER” stressful. I am so looking forward to a month from now when we won’t be so crazy busy. There will be a lot of bad days between now and then though.

Food was good except a little extra at supper. I cut up ½ of my steak for a sandwich tomorrow. My dad and I had a margarita but we passed on dessert.

Marty texted me he was in a limo on the way to a multi course meal. I told him it’s going to be a big letdown for him when he gets home. Ha ha.

Char, no worries about the pizza bar; those things are very rough to come out of without some excess calories. Glad to hear your husband’s white blood cells went up with just one shot. Sounds like you’ve been busy as usual. Shopping the dollar store is always fun. I hope you get in some star gazing soon. The wind is very chilly here – I am very tired of winter.

Have a great evening.

Hi all, I did not have a good pizza day, Sunday. WE went to Pizza Hut and had the food bar and I went out of control. I even made the comment that we could not go back there for a long while because I apparently couldn't control myself with their food bar.

So today I did good. I had a small sausage patty and shredded wheat (not sugar coated either) and fat free milk for breakfast. a pop and popcorn for a snack, a McChicken for lunch, and a pork chop (in microwave) and some Mexican corn for dinner.

Now the pop was probably not a good thing, but it was the best I could do on the go. I got my popcorn free at Home Depot and it was a very small bag.

We had to go in to have my dh's blood tested again and once again he didn't need the shot to get his white cells up. It scared us when they called and said he would need 3 shots because his white cells and neutraphils were so low, but then when it only took one shot to get them back to normal we felt a lot better and the nurse said that this was really very normal after chemo.

It was so pretty today. My mom had me to spray her dandelions again with Weed Be Gone (doesn't kill grass), but I really don't think they needed it. They all appeared to be dying from the first spraying. I also used Roundup (does kill about anything)around the edges so I won't have to edge so much this year.

We went shopping for fun things at the dollar store.
That is always a way to kill some time.

When we got home my dh finished fixing the truck since we picked up the part he needed on the way home. He is feeling very good, but he still has to be checked to see if he will need another chemo treatement.

Would love to go out in this warm weather to star gaze but the wind keeps blowing here. It is supposed to be nice all week so maybe the wind will go away at least one day.

I planted more in my garden.

So with a pretty week ahead of us I hope that everyone else has a nice week, too.

Hi everyone. Work wasn’t too bad today but tomorrow will be challenging.

Food was good today. Woo hoo!

I am off to grade more papers. Their term paper was due yesterday so that is keeping me busy tonight.

Hello SP Land! I hope you had a glorious weekend.

This morning Marty took off for a business trip. I met a girl friend for breakfast then did some shopping.

I warmed up 2 small pieces of pizza for lunch and had a lean cuisine for supper.

I worked on laundry and washed sheets and blankets. I put up our flannel sheets but think I’ll keep the electric blanket on for awhile.

This afternoon I rented “Up in the Air”. It was pretty good but kind of sad. I am watching “The Pacific” right now. It’s not as good of a series at “Band of Brothers” (IMO).

My boss has called me and texted me a few times now; sounds like this week will be a rough one. Sigh.

Char, sounds like the day at the polls was kind of boring for you but glad you and your husband survived it okay. We had nicer weather this weekend too. We might have another chance for aurora later this week. Woo hoo!

Marcy

Hi Marcy,
We worked at the polls yesterday and we were gone from 4L30 am-9:pm. We were both tired when we got home but my dh held up really well. I had to climb lots of steps during the day, because I could only get cell phone signal on the 2nd floor of where we worked. I also walked on purpose. It was a slow day because there was nothing really pressing on the ballot. I hate those days because inactivity and boredom really tires you out more a busy day.

My was tired today but felt okay. Tomorrow I have to go to work early and stop by my mom's house and spray for dandelions.

I fixed oatmeal and an egg with a small amount of fat free sausage for breakfast, a salad for lunch, and sirloin steak, spinach, and a small red baked potato with a dab of cheese and sour cream for dinner.

Have a great Thursday. It is supposed to be sunny through Sunday here. I hope the weather forcast is right. I love the sunshine.

Happy Wednesday. We are closing in on Friday soon. Work was crazy but Marty’s day was worse. We had breakfast for supper. I made eggs, toast, hash browns and bacon. You can get a lot of food for 400 calories out of that. Yippee!

We had about 2 inches of snow but it is all melted now.

Take care.

Hi everyone.

My day at work was once again awful. I had a muffin for mid morning snack instead of one of my mini bagels. We had some beef stroganoff for supper; my serving size wasn’t very big but it was good and we have enough left for both of us for lunch tomorrow.

I had a student ask tonight if I would agree to give them an incomplete and he finish the class this summer – needless to say I said no. I told him he’d best finish it now or get an F.

Marty had 2 conference calls tonight so he’s been working most of the evening. He still has conference calls with Hong Kong and will probably go back for a few weeks this summer.

Take care.

Hi everyone. I hope you had a great day. Luckily no one brought in a lot of Easter candy to work today. We had some pasta for supper and bread sticks. I should be on a carbs rush for awhile. LOL.

Char, glad the weather is nice but sorry it is windy. When are the elections? Tomorrow? Good luck. How wonderful your Easter dress fit and drew you some lovely compliments as well. One of the ladies I play cards with at work brought in some leftover turkey for lunch. Boy did it look good.

Have a great day tomorrow.

The weather has been good, but windy and it is partially cloudy and we expect rain over the next 3 days.

As an election supervisor I went to meet the people who deliver the election equipment to the polls today and got the things that could be done taken care of. We don't expect a heavy turn out so I am taking some Frank Herbert books with me to read.

I have read all of the Dune books by Frank Herbert and also those written by his son and Kevin Anderson. I have read most of Frank Herbert's other books, too, but am re-reading them.

I have reread Santaroga Barrior and am almost done with Destination Void, and will go one to Whipping Star and The Dosadi Experiment. That is all I could find here so will have to get the others on-line I guess.

Marcy, good for you for being careful on the sweets.
We had Turkey breast, baked potatoes, and a rice, cheese, and broccoli dish and I kept the portions reasonable. We had sugar free vanilla pudding for dessert.

Today for lunch we had lean ground beef as our main source of protein. My dh needs the protein to keep his energy level up.

I am holding my own and was able to fit into my Easter outfit. I bought it when I was at my smallest late last spring and though it did fit a tad snug it fit well enough to wear. I actually wore a hat that matched it, too, and was surprised at the compliments I got at church and especially from the guys at church. That is a real unusual occurance!!! but I'll take it! LOL

Now if I can just get about 10 pounds off me this summer I will be very happy, indeed.

We are taking our lunch to work the election so provided no one brings something they want to share with all of us, I should be alright.

Well, happy after Easter week to all!!

Happy Easter! We are having a lazy day today. Marty is cooking some spicy food so I already made y own lunch. I had a 3 oz burger cooked on the grill with a 110 cal wheat bagel and a 50 cal slide of provolone. It was great.

I bought each of us a 3 oz. chocolate bunny so I cut mine up in to about 12 pieces and had one piece for dessert.

For supper I have 2 small pieces left of a real mini pizza (from yesterday) so I will have it for supper.

Char, I am sorry you didn’t get to take your Hardin out the other night. I am sure getting the urge to get in some serious star gazing but it has been so darned cold here this winter. That is nice you have your scopes ready to go and did some cleaning at the same time. I think hamburgers are my favorite meal – and you can make them pretty healthy at home. I am sorry you didn’t have many students show up for lessons and how awful to get an unexpected and high electric bill. Ugh. Ours down a little this month but it was still over $200. I hope our week ahead is definitely better for both of us.

Take care.

Sorry about your computer. Last night I moved my telescopes back to the front room (entry room)so I can get them out easier to look at deep space objects. I also moved some other furniture I had wanted to move and cleaned. I stayed up late but got a lot done.

The wind continues to blow strong here!!! I will be glad when it finally lays and we get a warm still night here. I still want to explore Orion before it is too late.

Today was a good day physically for my dh and I we both were glad of that. Otherwise it was pretty much a disaster. I only had one student show up for lessons, and we discovered our daughter must have run up a large electric bill we would not have run up if we had been living at home at the time.

Seems like it is one step forward and 2 giant steps backward.

Well, I am hoping for a better tomorrow for us and you, too, Marcy.

Hi Everyone. My computer was toast last night but sweet Marty fixed it for me. My lesson? I need to back up my files more frequently than 19 months ago.
