Grebjack,
It is always so good to see kids get excited over astronomy. What fun!! No advice on the candy. I just didn't do Halloween this year.

Marcy, hiding the candy never works for me because I always know where it is. LOL Glad Marty is liking his job. Hope everyone is well.

I have just been too busy going to doctors, etc. I did find out that my tarsal tunnel has come back and the pain I have been having which trumped the heel spur pain after using the brace was from that. The doctor said that in treating the other we aggravated the tarsal tunnel so he sold me some arch supports. I have been using them and the pain has subsided. I had used them until we starting treating the heal spurs and then he told me I didn't have to wear the arch supports. WRONG

I was invited to play Pa's fiddle again at the Laura Ingalls Wilder House so I will do that in December. I am getting my fiddle tunes ready now.

I broke my tooth but got it filled and taken care of for the time being.

I guess we have made it through Halloween but fixing to run headlong into Thanksgiving and Christmas. I am trying not to do much for either, especially in the eating department.

Our weather has been pretty mild so far with scattered bad days. However, we have had lots of fog and rain so most nights have not been conducive to star gazing.

I remind myself that every mild day is one less cold day this winter.

Everyone have a good week end.

I got to show a friend and her two small children Jupiter, three of its moons, and our one beautiful moon. Dark, clear, dry skies - the views were spectacular. Plus the kids were psyched to see their own enlarged faces reflected at the far end of the telescope - that was a fun evening. I am glad to be contributing my part to the light pollution again, though. The streetlights on my street are still all out, so most of the advantages for stargazing remain, but I fear the disadvantages to driver safety remain, too.

I haven't figured out what to do with my Halloween candy - any advice, y'all?

Char, I am still here but been goofing off a lot on my iPad. I am sorry to hear your poor feet are still bothering you. Get better soon. I too havenít done much star gazing for a few months. I did see Jupiter from my kitchen window the other day. Does that count? I am glad you didnít get any snow. Weíve had about 28Ē already this season. Donít you hate when you lose computer files?

Carboholic, good for you getting back in to your pants. Congratulations! I am glad you got your scope out.

Grebjack, isnít it amazing how dark it can be when all the lights are out? Of course there are those modern conveniences I would miss. I hope things are back to normal for you now. How much snow did you get?

Marty was home this week. On that cold, snowy, icy morning I sure was pouty that he got to stay home and I had to go to work. Our new car is not as good on snow and ice as our old car (it's the tires) so I whined loudly about that. LOL. I don't think it is dangerous but I am used to a car that never slides. I will miss having a chauffeur on those bad winter days. Marty is really enjoying his new job. He works about 9 to 10 hours a day. He is off to Atlanta next week again.

My job has been strange. I have 2 newbees and 2 employees that still need training (of they've gone as far as they can) so that is good we can work on getting them trained.

I bought lean cuisine for lunches next week. I still have to get rid of my Halloween candy too. Right now it is in the closet. Marty didn't want it out while he was home working.

Well, take care.
Marcy

Hope your power stays on. Waiting for more snow today! Haven't seen this much of the white stuff in years! In '96 we got 14" in September and DH bought a very large snowblower. It's only been used a couple of times. Haven't dragged it out this year because the snow has been melting fairly quickly. The temps are dropping though and this week our highs are only in the low 40's. It feels like we went from summer to winter in just a couple of weeks.

I don't know if I would have had the patience to merge all of those audio files. We're still having connection problems. Since Quest became Century Link, our normally reliable connection has been a nightmare. Our only other option is Comcast unfortunately.

I lost another pound this week, so I'm hoping to fit into the pants that I wore to a Christmas party a couple of years ago. Three more pounds should do it. I miss the days when I could lose easily.

Have a great weekend and stay warm!

Power's back and the pipes are fine. It still flickers out sometimes as they continue working elsewhere in town. I've never tried keeping my tomatoes alive through the winter - do you use grow lights? The task of joining the audio files sounds like a drag to me, but I'm glad there are people willing to take care of these jobs. Happy fall, everyone.

We have had some pretty cold weather here, but no snow, thank goodness!!!! I am so sorry that you got so much snow, Grebjack. I hope the power is back on and that your pipes didn't freeze.

I brought my tomato plants in and I am still getting tomatoes and some peppers. That is the good thing about planting a garden in flower pots. It can become a portable garden in the winter. I still have my strawberries outside and they have survived thus far but I will probably bring them in when the next cold spell hits.

Congrats, Carboholic, on your weight loss. I am still hovering here. I lose 2 pounds and gain 3 it seems. I am really getting serious about this with winter coming on, though, because I know that I have to lose at least 2 pounds to prevent a disaster with holiday season approaching.

I have been cooking again, but the good stuff this time and not the fattening stuff.

Mostly I have been working on the computer putting our preacher's sermons up on the church website. He wanted audio sermons on the web so I have been doing that. Our recorder messed up and instead of giving us one track for the AM sermon and one for the PM it has been giving us 99 tracks. That meant a lot of time editing them into one track per sermon so that they could be uploaded to the web as a single file per sermon.

Then one of my software programs called for an update but lost some of my files when it deleted my old program and went to install the new one. I had to call them because I couldn't find my install CD. Luckily, from a program they had me to run they were able to verify my serial no. which proved I purchased it . Then I got cut off the download and it didn't install right so I had to run their clean program before I could reinstall another download. I finally got my software program back, though.

Now I have almost 300 e-mails that I need to sort through because, though I have been working on my computer, I have not been on line all that much.

Have a great weekend, don't forget to set your clock back if you are coming off of daylight savings time, and watch out for any stray comets on Tuesday (LOL).

I'm in one of those places that got inundated with snow this past weekend. I am NOT yet ready for winter, but if the power has to be out for days at a time, I'm grateful that it hasn't really gotten cold yet - I haven't had to drain the pipes so far and I think I'll be safe again tonight. The one good thing about living in a town without electricity is there isn't very much light pollution. Now if I could just psych myself up to get a chill outside when I know I can't just come in and get warm...

Wow, I am sooo NOT ready for November. I'm here, but just barely and haven't braved the cold to look through the scope. We got a foot of snow last week, then the temps shot back up, so the yard is a muddy mess. It gets awfully cold at night and now it's damp too. More snow coming Tuesday night.

I did get the dogs out for walks over the weekend, but I can't seem to do much during the week. Have to work on that. Thanks to Weight Watchers, I have lost weight and actually fit into pants that I couldn't button in August and September.

Good luck with the bone spur. That has to be really painful. Hope it improves!!!

Have a great day and month ALL!!!

Hi everyone. I am wondering how many of you are still with us so maybe this can be a roll call, too.

November is here and I am so not ready for it. I still have the heel spur issue I am dealing with, but hope to get some more news on it soon.

I have had absolutely no time to take my telescopes out and enjoy them and now it is almost too late. I get a glimpse of the moon, a constellation, a planet from time to time as I walk outside to my car or drive at night, which I don't like to do. Otherwise, I feel cheated this year by circumstances. I sure hope next year will be better.

Let me know how you are doing. Let me know if you are still here, how you are coming with your weight loss. Are you doing any of the team challenges? I went backward in October and picked up some pounds so now I am getting myself in line again. I absolutely must lose some weight for the sake of my feet.

Wishing everyone a good day and a good month. Please stop by our check in and chats and encourage me and others. Your encouragement really does help others as well as receiving encouragement can help each of us.
