Forgive me but I am just about to finish up with Chapter 8 and got behind on posting. Oh, well. I am doing my best.

Week 7 Recovering a Sense of Connection
Points:
LISTENING
*getting something DOWN not necessarily thinking something UP
*"These moments of clear inspiration require that we move into them on faith"
*"Once you accept that it is natural to create, you can begin toa ccept a second idea - that the creator will hand you whatever you need for the project"
*Expect the universe to support your dream. It will.

PERFECTIONISM
Ok peoples - we all know this is where it hits us!
*"Perfectionism is a refusal to let yourself move ahead"
*"The perfectionist is never satisfied. The perfectionist never says, "This is pretty good. I think I'll just keep going"

RISK
*"What would I do if I didn't have to do it perfectly?"
*"In order to resk, we must jettison our accepted limits. We must break through 'I can't because...'"
*List - If I didn't have to do it perfectly, I would try...
*"To put it differently, very often a risk is worth taking simply for the sake of taking it.

JEALOUSY
Green with envy are we?
*Jealousy can be a mask for what we fear of doing what we really want to do but are not brave enough to take action toward and a mask for fear that we aren't able to get what we want.
*There is room for all of us

JEALOUSY MAP, an exercise
When jealousy bites make a map of who you are jealous of why and and the action antidote.

ARCHEOLOGY, AN EXERCISE
another detective exercise into what you can be doing now to comfort and encourage your artist child.

CHECKIN:
1) Morning Pages - are you daydreaming creative risks and coddling your artist child with childhood loves?

2) Did you do your artist date this week? Did you use it to take any risks? What did you do? How did it feel?

3) Did you experience any synchronicity this week? What was it?

4) Were there any other issues this week that you consider significant for your recovery? Describe them.

My answers:

1) Morning Pages - are you daydreaming creative risks and coddling your artist child with childhood loves?
5 days. Absolutely daydreaming but afraid I was not so good on coddling myself. I did cry alot. Found out my husband's unemployment will definitely end soon and we will be struggling for money. But I managed to finish my love box and vision collage. Sealed both of them.

2) Did you do your artist date this week? Did you use it to take any risks? What did you do? How did it feel?
I finished my collages and it felt very good. After finishing them, one morning I actually sat with my box and read my letters from previous chapters exercises and put them in the box. I also started to fill out that book "About me" that I bought on one of my earlier artists dates. It was delightfully girly.
I took the risk to sing with a women's group north of the city on a last minute fill-in and be our rock in the alto section. I haven't taken a gig like that so far away in a while. It was a nice experience but not exactly something I would do often. I sang like 24 hours within 5 days. That's a lot of singing. AND I had a solo at church for Thanksgiving to prepare!
3) Did you experience any synchronicity this week? What was it?
OK - well it worked out that I would be able to have the car and my husband was able to work out getting where he needed to go in order for me to take the gig.
The biggest bit of synchronicity is that as I was walking in to work bemoaning how much I didn't want to go but wasn't sure if it was the right time to be looking for a job, etc. I asked for a sign from god on what to do. I walked into work and a huge and heavy wooden ceiling panel had fallen in front of my desk the night before. It was a huge sign that - hey you aren't safe here anymore! There was one right over my desk so they moved me elsewhere for the day and rest of the next week but nonetheless it was a definite sign.
I took the next day off from work to prepare for the concert gig. However, my boss never responded to my text as to whether or not I could and if she would be in until I already got in. I little upsetting to say the least. Anyway, I took the day anyway and had decided to treat myself to starbucks on my way home when I discovered that I left my ATM card in teh ATM the previous night! UGG. Crying ensued. I met my husband for breakfast and we had a heart to heart which felt good. I spent the rest of the day doing only what I needed to do and finishing my collage rather than cleaning the house as planned to prepare for if the inlaws came which synchronistically then ended up NOT coming to the house. WHEW!

4) Were there any other issues this week that you consider significant for your recovery? Describe them.
Finishing my first vision collage after 3 years of being on sparkpeople - I'd say that's pretty darn significant. I also got a call for a job that is a pretty good match for me the following Monday morning and had the first interview. I used my Adobe Photoshop skills I have been working on to do a thank you card personally made. I wish it came easier to me but I am learning and starting to be able to do some of the things I envision.
