I was glad to return until my kids showed up. I have 9 students and only two are returning. There were also two that I was not expecting. It has been a difficult two weeks. I have been up at 4:30 to work on schedule changes and have left between 5-6 everyday after meeting to discuss what to do with these kiddos. This is the first time I have been on SP for more than spinning the wheel in two weeks. I missed it. Sorry I needed to vent. Thanks for letting me.

Trish, I've been amazed that you could keep it going for as long as you did!
Hmmm, I wasn't happy to return, but once I got going it's been ok so far!

Okay, I am embarrassed to admit that I have no more ideas for a daily question....So I will bounce this out to all of you....What would be a good daily question for us to use? Anyone game for being "it" for awhile?

I try to set them for the calendar year, but it seems they end up focusing around the school year. I'm more focused when I'm on a schedule, just like the kids!

Goal Setting: Do you set weight loss goals for the school year? Or for the calendar year?

I find that I reflect and am able to stay on task better if I set goals for the school year instead of the calendar year. What about you?

Sorry, I have been reflecting on the old school year and getting ready for the new one to begin soon, so I have had some deep thought provoking questions.
Why don't we go with a light easy one?

What is your favorite color?
I am like a mood ring...depending on how I feel, depends on the color I like that day. Today, I'd have to say my favorite color is purple. (Anyone old enough to remember what that meant in mood ring?)

Looking back on summer, what is one lesson about weight loss you learned?

For me, getting cardio on a regular basis really makes a huge difference in weight loss. So does reducing the salt intake.

I usually go visit grand daughters. This year the grand daughters came to visit us. So DH and I have done several things together and dear son is coming to visit two days this week. I go back first day on Friday this week, so a good end to summer vacation.

It seems like a good idea to do something, but for the past three years something has come up on the last week before school starts to prevent doing something special. I would love to just get away for a day or two with DH and my grandson. Otherwise, all I tend to do is get my grandson ready for the start of school.

Do you do anything to celebrate the end of the summer or the start of the school year?

We tend to go on vacation the last week of August as a way to say good bye to summer and hello to Fall. This year we are taking the children to Darien Lake, an amusement park for a long weekend before my daughter's band camp starts.

I am pretty happy with how July turned out for me. I would have liked to have lost more weight, but I did do a good job keeping up with exercising. Now I have a few tricky days ahead with vacation and some family gatherings, but my goal for August is to just continue doing the best I can. My daily thought has been to stay on 100% when I am able, and just to do my best when I can't control things. Hopefully that will get me through August too:)

I did not meet my goals for July. Summer is always really hard for me, because of lack of routine. I also managed to get a hairline fracture in my foot, so that kept me from exercising as much as I had planned.

August will be different though! My foot is healed nicely and I'm ready to jump back into my routine when school starts on the 15th.

Congratulations!

I met most of my July goals. I didn't finish painting my garage. It was not because I didn't work as planned. I have the gables, soffits, all trim and the windows done. The windows required extensive scraping and calking. Now I'm ready to paint the cinderblock walls.

I made it to my vacation/workshop from Silva Life Systems. A car break down in central PA could not steop me! It just gave me a chance to be creative and determined.

Have a great day!

I used my first pregnancy as an excuse to eat an evening snack. I gained 50 pounds with her and it took me forever to get rid of it...The second time around, I was much better about eating what I was supposed to and not lots of extras. Getting the weight off was so much easier!

I took a yoga class when pregnant with my second. It was designed for pregnant women and really helped get rid of the lower back pain common in pregnancy. If you have it near you, I would definitely check it out!

I am only half way through the summer, so I still have a lot of time to get out of the 130s..I am at 132..so close...

Star_Terra! I spent a lot of last year at the wellness center with a certain young/middle 30s lady who was pregnant and exercising every day. She had to change her program, no lifting stress, but she did yoga, flexibility, and and cardio - swimming 6 days a week. The last couple weeks, her DH came with her, but her goal was activity. She is a local professor, and had lots of sitting, standing lack of activity in her work days. Walking is usually great, just keep in touch with your doctor about choices. So happy for you. (Walking was my go to exercise, Plus gardening, canning and freezing our surplus.)

Congratulations Star_Terra!

I did not meet any of my goals for July. I got really lazy and slacked off. I always think I will do extra during the summer, but actually do less. With school starting next week, my goal is to get back into a routine and regularly exercise 30 minutes a day, run three times a week and strength train 4-5 days a week.

Good luck to everyone on their new goals.

Had to reevaluate goals, as I am recently pregnant. So, new goals are to continue tracking food, stay in calorie ranges, get all my nutrients, and exercise about 30 minutes per day.

Sounds easy enough lol.

I don't have a weight goal anymore (guess I will re approach that next year), but I want to gain just the right amount of weight especially since I started out being overweight.

I spent July gaining enough weight to get me less than a pound away from my starting weight! I've written out very detailed short and long term goals for myself. I'll be much better off when school starts. I need structure! Hubby is going out of town for 5 days so those will be spent getting a lot of things ready for school. That will keep me from eating too much. Even though I hurt my back in July and couldn't exercise, I think I can still make my 1,000 fitness minutes for the month if I exercise 45 min. the next 3 days.

With August right around the corner, what is your July reflection or August goal?

For me, July was a wake up call with a borderline high blood pressure reading at a doctor's office. Discontinuing the salt in my diet resulted in a 5 pound weight loss...Wow! I was using that much salt and retaining that much water...Sad, but probably true.

My August goal is to continue the Couch25K I started this week. I am at 132, I'd love to be under 130 when Labor Day comes...

Yup, that's right...1 day to set up a classroom and plan for the year. Of course, I will probably start going in next week and try to get a couple hours a day to set up ahead of time.

The Tuesday after Labor Day is a teacher in service. The students will start Wednesday. My last day wasn't until the last week of June, though. Personally I liked when I lived in MO and started the middle of August and was done Memorial Day better than NYs arrangement. At least there you were in school in the heat at the beginning of the year when everyone was motivated to get started. We are in the heat at the end when everyone is ready to quit!
