Hi! How many of you are on Spark 360. Spark Guys blog tells more about what is planned. I'm hanging around until mid august. Will be patient and see what shakes out and how a few things are reorganized.

Hi all - I'm also printing and saving everything right now.

Let me know if this group ends up going to another site. Some of the groups are going to MyFitnessPal, LoseIt, and FatSecret that I've heard so far.

I will be here until August so I will check back before then.

I started to respond to this on my phone and lost the whole darn thing. Just getting back to it. Hoping mother goes to stay for a month or six weeks with my sisters who need to step up to the plate. If she does, I will have it disconnected and then get a better deal with the new bundle packages. It's the only way I can figure to reduce this stupid cable/internet/phone bill. I'm in a very rural area and not a lot of choices.

We’ve been with a small, local internet company since we built this house in 2002. Two years ago they sold out to one of Canada’s “biggies”, and a month ago we were told that service would stop as of May 15. We were given a good deal for 12 months if we transferred over, and today the technician came to install the new programme. VERY complicated compared to what we had before, and now our home phone rings only about half the time someone calls. Our email is an on-again/off-again service... actually more off than on... and we’ve lost some of our favourite tv channels even though (at the end of 12 months) our monthly bill will go up 33%.

Needless to say, we have booked another appointment with the technician. Talking to some neighbours, they have all had problems with the switch over.

Technology makes me feel OLD! I suggested to Peter that we could go live in the back woods.

Surgeries are back on. But since all electives were postponed it's going to be a crap shoot. He told us he thought in May but the scheduler would call today. I called her at 3:30 because she still hadn't called by the time I got home from work. I told Mother I would take her to the V.A. (since we are both veterans) but they told me they are booking out into August now and she really needs it sooner than that. I liked this doc.

All elective surgeries are cancelled indefinitely in Ontario, and many surgery beds are being converted to ICU for additional Covid-19 cases. I hope your mother is able to get her surgery in a reasonable time.

Taking my mother to an ortho consult about hip replacement. Only have to go 25 miles east but surgery will be 110 miles south. Will know more after the consult.

Peter and I are muddling through kitchen things. We have way too many dishes but have trouble agreeing what to get rid of. Since we've had to clean out some cupboards to have the above-range microwave installed, and all the bottom ones on the sink side are empty, this is a good chance to rearrange things and get rid of duplicates and things we just don't use. Right now, though, it looks worse than ever because things are piled all over the place... patience, Gail, patience!

Cleaned out cupboard over stove; new over-range microwave going in there tomorrow. Cleaned out cupboards under sink because electrician needs access there for new outlet for "appliance garage" which Peter is building.

Picking up new sink and taps today; will check with plumber so to when he wants to put them in.

Will sort through everything that is now sitting in laundry baskets in the kitchen; only putting back the essentials.

I sent my beloved Gus to the Rainbow Bridge yesterday. It was a nightmare. My regular vet not in town, the other guy made a 4:00 appt and then called me at 1:45 and cancelled - after I had resigned myself to the fact that "today is the day". The "mobile vet" is not taking new patients and never called me back. So I called an old vet in Chinook - 25 miles away and they said if I came right now they would do it. I know he's in a better place and he's pain free but poor little Grace keeps looking everywhere for him. It's breaking my heart again today.

Actually I'd rather have the veggies. The only way I like Krispy Kremes is if they are hot out of the fryer. I remember standing in line and getting the freebies.Then getting up for my turn and not even really wanting another donut! I only stopped in if they had the "hot now" sign flashing. Used to get them for my crew at the Chicago Diesel Shop!

Cleaned off the kitchen countertop and cleaned out some of the cupboards for the electrician, but he didn't show up. When I called, he didn't have the appointment written down and was on another big job. He came over long enough to see what supplies he needs, and is coming back in a week, after the supplies arrive.

Put most things back for the week-end, and will have to move it all again next week. At least that gives me a good chance to sort through all the odds and ends of kitchen utensils and get rid of duplicates and things that we never use.

Snowy, blustery day here. I need to get to work on Easter cards. Where has the time gone? I lounged around, reading and napping on Saturday. Drove back to Rudyard yesterday to sweep and mop the floors and pull meat from the freezer. Another wipe down of the counters to spiff up for Rhonda's return to work. Took mother along for the ride.

Decluttering is hard work! I used to feel guilty about getting rid of a gift but I read something about how once it is given to you (if FREELY GIVEN) it is yours to do with as you like. I often pass along books I've been given. I don't have TV/VCR etc so CD's and the like aren't an issue. Anyone who knows me well enough to buy me a gift would know that. I'd much rather have 'an experience' than a gift. Take me to lunch or give me concert tickets. I give gifts like that so get them in return.

Since joining this team, my thoughts about keeping things have been changing, bit by bit. The book that I'm reading, "Cut the Clutter and Stow the Stuff" suggests that I am a tosser/concealer, because while I am good at throwing some things out, I tend to buy lots of containers to hide the things that I am not yet ready to deal with.

I'm slowly going through the various containers, and getting rid of quite a few things they were hiding. I've also learned to give myself permission to get rid of things, even if they were given to me as gifts, or things that I inherited. DH challenges me when he sees me letting go of a book, dvd or movie that he has given me, which is difficult.

I tend to think that because something is old, it must be valuable, and I have kept a lot of old dishes, kitchen gadgets, etc. I go to auctions sometimes, and check out second hand stores, consignment shops and sometimes antique shops, not to buy more, but to see if they have anything similar to what I have, and what it sells for, or what they are asking. Of course since Covid-19 lockdowns, I haven't been able to do much of this, but keep an eye on e-Bay and other online markets. Trouble is, I don't follow up, although I have started printing off pictures, ads, etc., and put them in a file for our kids... "don't toss this without checking... it might be worth something".

Sorry, I didn't sleep well last night and am discouraged today... just venting. Peter is taking today off and watching car racing and figure skating. He cleaned up all the papers he was going though yesterday really well, but seems to still be feeling that I'm pushing too hard.

Today I covered the box that my sewing machine came in with MacTac. It will hold a lot of Aria's toys that are now piled outside her toybox. At the same time, I picked out some toys that she doesn't use any more for the hospital thrift shop.

Took Mother and went to the Senior Center to sign our tax forms. It was so weird the way they did it this year but at least it's all done now and both of us are getting a bigger refund than we thought. I was also trying to get a hold of the IRS regarding the 2nd EIC payment. I hate dealing with bureaucracy on any level but the feds are the worst. Tried it from the computer as they asked but it doesn't have any information and says to just check back tomorrow so I called the toll free number. What a nightmare. After 45 minutes I just hung up. It's a nice day outside and I'm going to go out and take a walk and try to get rid of some of this anger.

Sounds like a healthy perspective to me. I would start with the oldest and just chuck them...it's what I have done to some of the stuff I think is 'stupid' that my mother has saved. She doesn't know so doesn't miss them. If I did more, I think she'd notice and that's not worth it to me. She is NOT a hoarder but I will be the one who has to go through the stuff when she dies so I am just helping myself. Hers is some of the stuff from when she was a teacher and no one wants it after all this time. Trust me, I checked up at the college and it's just too old to be relevant. I think that's insane, but the thrift stores don't want it either. I just thought with an education program at the college some of it might be of interest to the students. They said no and no one touched the boxes when I left it at the library and the little libraries marked "FREE" so I was wrong.

I have to remind myself to keep things in perspective. Today I found at least 30' of shelves containing magazine holders full of issues from the 60's... trains, cars and motorcycles. I'm not even going to mention them. They are off the floor, and someone else, someday, can get rid of them.

My focus is to get rid of the piles on the floor, on tables, on the bar, etc. If I can keep Peter working on those things, or if I can get him to agree to let me help with them, we will have a measure of success and will regain the use of the pub/family room he built in the basement.

Focus on what I can do; not what I wish he would do.

Just dragging thru the day. Did get my St. Paddy's cards in the mail. I know there is another box with more cards but moving on to the Easter cards. Tired of all the laundry. Stressed with old, decrepit dogs and Mother.

I didn't get much done yesterday but it was still a good day mood wise. I spent way too long waiting in line to pay for groceries but I didn't get crabby. I did get some laundry done and folded and got stuff put away. I'm holding back the feeling of drowning and just plodding along.

Tired. Didn't even log in yesterday. Spent most of Thursday dealing with my Mother at the ER and getting records from the V.A. Some daze it just doesn't seem like I will ever have a 'normal life'.

I was supposed to go to Ft. Harrison today for a couple of doctor appointments but I was up most of the night with Gus, my little beloved dog. He's getting ready to go to the Rainbow Bridge and I'm not having an easy time of it. I think I am. I think he will let me know. But it just changes from day to day. We've changed meds. I spend a lot of time doing massage with him. I know that he is not ever going to 'get better' but I just don't want him in pain. He doesn't seem to be in pain but he is having intestinal issues and he has to go out a lot to pee. One of the new meds she gave him makes him pee even more. Poor little guy. He has Cushings but he also has developed arthritis and his left hip and right knee bother him. His 'little' half sister is just 4 months younger. She is almost deaf now. And I think that is part of what her 'dementia' seems to be. I hope I am brave enough to send them off at the same time. I know he wouldn't last without her but I think she would be okay without him...but I'm just not sure about the quality of her life. It's a high price to pay for all the years of love we've shared but I know it's worth it. Doesn't make it any easier on my old black heart.

We've had snow on and off all day! I had to go to IGA and pick up cube steaks ( I ordered to use at the senior center) tonight. It was "slicker than frog snot" as my dear old Dad used to say. Picked up a few things for my Mom, shoveled the sidewalks and made 4 trips to the dumpsters in the alley. Tomorrow is garbage pick-up.
