Oh, I entertain creative ideas. But I can't follow through because I can't self-start or self-structure or self-maintain. I try to do something, but eventually, sooner or later, I fall by the wayside.

I'm unhappy about this.

Does anyone have side hobbies or passions or career ideas they've ever entertained or balanced? Always struggled to maintain focus on a path swith so many other ideas as well. Especially when other ideas come from a different field.

Oh, I see, it's a watch that vibrates. And it's not expensive.

I found a timer online:

www.timeme.com/timer-stopwatch.htm

I put it on when I'm in the kitchen or downstairs not too far from the computer.

But I like the idea of a watch. I'll put it on my wish list. Thanks!

Yes, structure really helps! Making my own structure is difficult.

Here's the timer: http://www.amazon.com/T498519J-Rugged-Digi
tal-Chrono-Vibration/dp/B004GHLEMQ

I try to set one hour focus blocks, separated by ten minute breaks on the days I have chunk of free time. On those ten minute breaks, I use the vibrating timer for two five minute blocks. Any sort of thing like that, when it vibrates, it's like someone tugging my hand and saying "Ok, time to go!."

For me there's a difference between structured time and cluttered time. Taking Allan to doctor appointments and doing all that disorderly running around feels like cluttered time. Having a regular job I like and that I go out of the house to work at helps structure and punctuate my time.

That is just my problem I don't have enough free x.

with son having cancer and his dr, appt some times don't know till that morning
. That makes it hard to keep your own dr appts.

But, when I do have x, I like to pace myself. I have Fibromylgia / Chronic fatigue sym./etc. That is why I must pace myself.

A watch would help so much!

Hmmm...strategies to help us...I really really need to have commitments to other people, like having to be at a job at a regular time. I need connection with other people. I go crazy with too much open free time. Like this afternoon.

This morning I volunteered doing gardening in our lovely park. We pulled weeds, spread mulch, and planted some seeds. That was good. But then the afternoon was totally free and wide open. I got absolutely nothing done, and was deeply depressed.

I, too, am interested in your watch. Sometimes I set a timer, or put on some lively music that lasts a specific time, and then I clean clutter as well as I can in that time.

I'm interested.
What kind of watch is it? Where did you find it?

Right now, I am using a timer.

Any help would be appreciated.

I thought we could starta thread to discuss strategies we've discovered to help us. What are you doing? Wht have you found that works?

I have a vibrating wristwach that I'm using to help me transition between tasks, as well as stay on task. Finish us a focus block (1 hr), set the timer for 5 - 10 minutes. Starting out on a focus block: set timer for 5 - 10 minutes for the first task. Then keep that up.
