I've told about 5 friends all about my years of Spark People. They do not get it, because the other places, or sites do not have any types of incentives, blogs, conversations back and forth.

I said, but some of these people I have talked to almost every day for years.

good, I just sent you my e-mail.

I checked a bunch of those sites. Most of them are lacking. It looks like the SA , uses google and apple to track everything... if one is okay with all that...I do not know if it will be liberal. You can see who has signed up so far.

It looks like various organizations will come for their benefit, and possibly indirect resources to use their services.

Yes, but I like you. Why can’t we email or go on another platform… there are other groups to investigate. They also have FB, when all else fails. I was getting to know you.
Can you see me stomping my foot down.

I'm mourning the loss of a great history of friends and encouragement here, while also looking forward to being on the ground floor of a new Spark platform.

I'd like to thank you and your predecessors for encourage participation in a faith-based family. God bless you!

Hug, hug,
Evelyn

so we did meet for our first meeting. It was 90 minutes.

We had dinner outside in the park. All 7 came. So we got to meet the one single man. He is a nurse. He is also doing security at the same hospital and it is across the street from that park. I do not think we will meet there every week.

It was only seven of us. I think only two or three of us, had not had Corvid. It does seem that those who have more health concerns get more ill.

I liked that 2 of them had a great since of humor.

Besides eating and getting to know each other, the leader asked 4 questions related to the pastors previous message.

He also told us a remarkable story how when he had just met his now wife, he got extremely ill. He had a fever of 106. He told us all the specifics of what occurred. It seemed to me, he was in the hospital around a month. He got to go home, but it took about 9 months to be able to do things. It was a remarkable miricle.

Sorry that I've been awol from the team. DH had his left knee replaced last Monday & came home on Tuesday afternoon. He's been experiencing much more pain and stuff this time, than he did with his right knee 10 months ago.
He had the usual amount of swelling & bruising when he first came home, then on Saturday morning it swelled up 3x what it had been. So that afternoon we took a trip to the ER (our van has no seats in the back so he could just get in & ride lying down. I spread sheets across the floor; drove the van up close to the back door and he was able to hobble to the van with his walker; with the side door open he backed himself to sit then lie down on the floor and I helped him to scooch into a reasonably comfortable position).
I pulled up to the ER door used by ambulances, and told staff that I needed them to help get him out of the van and into a wheelchair. An ultrasound was done & determined there was no blood clot, the swelling was a result of him doing PT the day before, and reiterated the standard "ice & elevation". The swelling has now reduced just about to "normal" post-surgery.

Well I get that... I have purchased some interesting things at estate sales, once two marble tiny jars that are hand painted from Italy. We went there for our 30 year anniversary and when my husband retired for the first time.
I have some embroidery on pillowcases. I am glad I have them, because they take so much work, and maybe some relative spent hours creating them. I began my lace collection this way, and have used the pieces for crafts and sewing.

That’s still rather positive that you pointed out that the daughter was trying to do something on her behalf.
Often the older people are unhappy in that environment but it is a sacrifice she makes an effort and wants to spend time with her in-spite of her attitude and environment.
My sis and I had my mom an Angel food cake with strawberries and whip cream or cool whip.
She loved her strawberries.
There was a few things that gave her a burst of joy briefly. She loved to watch the birds in the birdbath.
I announced that I pray and right after they flew down for a dip. It made her giddy, such a small pleasure... indeed precious compared to indoors...

I do know many can not see how their actions and thoughts contribute to their misery.
My mom ran out of money. One place asked me to sign paperwork to pay all my moms bills and she could reimburse me from her funds in the bank.
The problem with that, It would make me responsible for all her bills and when she ran out of money , they could evict her and hold me responsible. If she had got in low income housing when she was much younger, much less likely for this to occur.
She insisted on being in a 2 bedroom duplex with yard and garage. She made jewelry.

I get what your saying on several levels.

My mom was no one the most negative people you would ever know.

Some of the things she griped at were rather true. For example, the landlord refused to fix the system, and water leaked in her kitchen. Part of these problems was the system was bad out by the street, and it would have to be torn out from outside and her home. The landlord lived far away and the manager dealt with it.Or lack thereof.

Finally the housing market went up, so she forced my mom to move out. She gave her 1 month to leave. Crazy, she was 86.

We took it to a non profit senior center place. They got her 5 months. No one would rent to her because of her age. At that time she was healthy and swam 15 laps or walked 4 miles.

Then she wrote the city, governor, ect. letters. One day, when she went to the grocery store, she put her foot on the brakes and it did not stop, so she drove over those cement areas what had plants, to avoid going in glass or people. They put her through " bad Words", to take her drivers lisceience away.

One week before she had to be out of her place... she got in a senior place that charged 3200 a month with meals and cleaning. She went through that in a 1 1/2 years. They would not let her go in their nursing home either. She fell several times.

Finally, she was put in one of those homes by me. They treated her horrible because he complained about the food , and would beg them to be quiet, because they yelled across the nurses station and would turn on the lights when checking on her roommate.

The only good part, was before she needed hospice, we got a Christian organization to give her showers and personal care.

The facility hated her because she refused to wear a diaper, would not take pain medications but complained of pain day and night.

They tried at least a dozen times to get me to sign these papers. They finally convinced me to put a piece of antidepressant within her special food. However, she only got it off and on.Then the week before she died, I signed for a pain patch.

But this said, sign here, I did, and then another paper. I read it, and scribbled it out, because before she got to the end, they tried to get me to give her all sorts of other pills to make her a zombie...

Anyhow they were horrible to here ( certain ones), but she made it worse by complaining non stop. Only one NA could handle her.

She has two accidents there because of their actions. She broke her pelvic bone, because they would take so very long to take her. Once they ran her hand into the door.

They wanted her to be completely dependent on them. What I found is they would really help those who were an invalid. but completely ignore your soul and spiritual needs ( like treating you with dignity ).

Yes, and also different is at many of the epistles it calls us “ saints, chosen, beloved , a special people... ect.

We are all saints and called adopted children of God, if we repent, surrender our lives to Christ, love and obey Him and have His Holy Spirit in us as a seal.
We do not have to be a mother Theresa. We do not have to do 2 or 3 miracles and the church gives us recognition ... we have that calling in Christ not because of our being good enough.., We can only have righteousness from being in Him.

That was one of those moments that made it worth it working for her.
She was constantly correcting me and yelling at me in front of the kids.
It took me some time getting over some of the things she pulled.
I felt her strange behavior was because of her daughters death and another child died where she has worked . The child choked on that yogurt.( yogurt in a tube). My boss's daughter was killed in a car accident from a drunk driver.
The kids loved my boss, but the few people who did not fit into her standard who were treated poorly. I mean they did not share her educational outlook and the ways she would correct and fix the kids artwork or throw it out.
I did like the things she did well....

Bless the Lord for His care and provision for you.
I can sense my the Holy Spirit directing your steps . Otherwise, we are not in tune to such things and aware of that” other” way to respond to challenging work environment.
It’s a learning process. I once had a boss who was a perfectionist and control freak. I would pray for her constantly, but her behavior toward me was mean.
I think the Lord did much with me and influencing children who desperately needed help and love. However, she wanted me to always hurry up and the kids to do some things a few were not capable of doing.
Once a child had a complete melt down and fit because her father had brought home another lady whom was not her mom.
I whispered in her ear, it’s not your fault and many people will hurt you and let you down but God never will. I held her in my arms and prayed over her.
I knew because my my mom had been divorced several times.
It was a powerful interaction.

hmm, lionhearted ???

I got a book like that....I went and found it. Its called," Words to live by for Women". It says, " reflections and insights on life's most life-changing and thought provoking words in the Bible." Bethany House ISBN 0-7642-2925-7 2004

its a devotional. For an example ( part of one ). The word on page 50-52 is Destiny. The tope gives the meaning from a dictionary, biblically and personal meaning. They got a writing on topic, and some quotes of more scripture and J I. Packer . Then it is summarized

Part of this paragraph says: " by the desire He stirs in you to do certain things, through the people He brings alongside of you, and by the situations that surround you.". This reminded me of that verse in the beginning of Ephesians talking about God has preplanned assignments for us.

Oh a can of worms, well a garbage can full not on tin can.
I understand they rather we not bring up politics here, but most of the time, they are alright with religion, if one does not insult others, and call names.
I will try and word this carefully because in another group I was in one of the coaches did not see eye to eye on alternative treatments.
I do not want to step on toes, but I do have thoughts about current events.
As. Christian it is remarkable how even believers interrupt the exact same event or person so very differently.
In my understanding of scriptures, it is plainly stated that certain things are right or wrong.
Much of it is precise and obviously clear, I do believe this is one reason why certain Bibles are now out of print, words removed, and changed.
If a person only hears teaching on the media or their church... and does not study, then often they have worldly views, closer to non believers.
We should read verses in context. We should see meaning of vocabulary in a concordance. It’s good to compare versions, and find verses on a topic throughout the Bible to get a rounded view.FYI- there are two or 3 manuscripts that are used in most Bibles. A better version might show in the margins words that are added for clarity to create sentences during translating . Also parts that have been omitted or adapted.

Both.
And I think it's appropriate, since he chooses to reference his "faith' in his speeches when he thinks it will give him political advantage.
He's made it known that he carries a a rosary in his pocket and attends Mass every Sunday, presenting himself as a deeply devout Catholic. He speeches are woven with references to God, biblical language or the Pope.
He launched his candidacy by referring to his campaign as a "battle for the soul of the nation." And when he delivered a eulogy for George Floyd and called for racial justice, he spoke of growing up with a Catholic social doctrine that taught him "faith without works is dead."

Over his years in public life, Biden has become more & more liberal on the issue of abortion. Last year, he reversed his decades-old position on the Hyde Amendment, which bans federal dollars from funding abortion in most cases

The group, Catholic Vote, has released an ad referring to "Joe Biden's radical stance on abortion," stating "Joe Biden would force American Catholics to pay for abortions, sacrificing his Catholic values to kneel before the leftist mob". A representative of Catholic Vote stated, "Any religious institution risks its own credibility and integrity if it allows its adherents to flout its core teachings.
.
And I don't recall him saying anything to protest the closing of Churches when Covid19 restrictions began -- while bars, liquor stores & pot shops were allowed to stay open.

He says he's a devout Catholic, yet he's doing these things that are contrary to the church's teaching?"

yes, we see lots of examples.

I saw an article that some Catholics want our President not to be able to take communion. The reasoning is he does not hold the churches view.

Is this political or religious ?

I've started reading one Proverb chapter each day. This is from today's -- #28 v2
It caught my attention so much, I decided to look at in another translation.

NLT - When there is moral rot within a nation, it's government topples easily. But wise and knowledgeable leaders bring stability.

MESSAGE - When the country is in chaos, everybody has a plan to fix it -- But it takes a leader of real understanding to straighten things out.

(I'm copying this post into our Pray for your Country topic also.)
