HAPPY NEW YEAR EVERYONE! It is 8:45 in the morning here on Guam so it is a new year for us. Yes, the guns and cannons went off and woke me up and then kept me up for a couple of hours. (The joy of living on Guam. emoticon emoticon )

Jane...Glad you got vaccine and no side effects.

Celeste...Sorry for cold front. Glad you visit Sherbet instead of her staying at your home. I hope you family enjoys camping.

50 and windy here. Will be 40 tonight. I have arthritis flare bc I didn't take Aleve yesterday. I need to get to the store for more Aleve.

Wishing all a safe, healthy and happy New Year.

Hello ladies. Jane - temperatures are "cool", but December camping in TX isn't like December camping in NY emoticon

Tee - I just go to their house to check on Sherbert, play lazer tag or shoelace chase for an hour. By then, he's ready for me to leave emoticon And the note/candy from your apt. manager was soooo nice.

We have FINALLY received some MUCH needed rain. The cold front arrived yesterday afternoon. It was 72 when I got to the kid's house. 68 an hour later (when I left) & in the 20 minutes it took me to drive home, it dropped to 54 emoticon Definitely a stronger cold front!!! Still only 39 out there. But hey - I am NOT complaining!!!!

Wishing everyone a happy, safe New Year!!! emoticon

Not sure what happened yesterday but I did not post here…

Tee, weather is so unpredictable.
Sorry about the banks, what a mess.
Waiting for a downpour to end can be hard.
Glad you got what you were looking for at Walmart.

Frances, no help about what to use a gym or YMCA.

Karen, I am so sorry to hear about Mindy and the possibility she may have exposed you. Hopefully her keeping somewhat of a distance will be okay.

Tee, glad you have had a good experience at the Y.
Sorry about the bathroom fiasco, I know where the bathrooms are too.
Sorry about getting cold and having trouble warming up. Glad you have a small heater.

Karen, waiting awhile may be a good idea.

Debbie, hope people pay attention to your sign.

Celeste, camping in the winter? Your family is brave.
Your Wacky Wednesday poster is cute.

Tee, I have been taking 4,000 mg of vitamin D because the cancer doctor ordered it a long time ago.
Really glad you have that heater.
Hope the Mercy ship returns and helps you.
What a cute gift from your apartment manager.

Three and a half hours until the new year!

I wrote the following yesterday.
I got up before six this morning to take my thyroid med and decided to get gas and head to where I would get the vaccine. I got there about 6:30 and was number 15. We were put in a room with social distancing between the chairs and waited until close to 9:00 when things were supposed to start. They started with taking our temperatures and getting our names and phone numbers and the village we lived in. When we were escorted into what is the school cafeteria we were escorted to a table the vital information was taken down including any medication we were on and any allergies we might have. Because of my hypothyroidism and cancer issue I had to speak to a doctor and then was escorted to a table where I was administered the vaccine. From there I was directed into the school gymnasium and told to wait 30 minutes to make sure I had not reactions. If a person had no medical issues the wait was 15 minutes. There were chairs for over 50 people with people coming in and leaving during the time of my wait. NO ONE had an adverse reaction while I was there and friends I spoke to said they were not aware of any adverse reactions Monday and Tuesday. My arm is a little sore where the vaccine was administered but not as much as some of the flu shots I have had.
Something to consider when the vaccine is available in your area.

I have not done much today but I am doing fine. Arm is a little sore but otherwise okay.

Jane

Jane...Sorry you didn't get the vaccine. Turned around two days in a row can be draining. Glad you enjoyed lunch with Tuesday bunch.

Nasfkab...A medical condition causes me to go potty a lot more than normal. Crossing legs worked.

Frances...Glad you are exercising at home. My mobility declined with gym pool closure.
Studies show that people low in vitamin D got virus. People with high vitamin D didn't. My doctor tested my D level thanks to Oprah. My level was 20 than and 55 now.

Debbie...Sign on your door is good idea. I use Microban 24 instead of Lysol. Microban is used by medical offices and kills germs for 24 hours even after surface has been touched. Sorry about the rain and cold weather. Stay warm and safe.

Celeste...Happy kitty sitting. I sat for my girls cat once. The cat slept all day and jumped on my bed and head all night. I hope Sherbet behaves better.

It was 60 this afternoon. Yeah! 48 tonight. I wasn't cold at work and freezing when I got home. Heater on at my feet again.

I haven't been in pain for two days thanks to taking 1 Aleve daily. It was nice to be able to stand/ walk and wear shoes without pain. I know taking more Aleve isn't good and need to look for holistic replacement.

Vaccine lines in the states are very long. Some go around the block. I avoided shopping due to crowds and don't want to stand in crowd for vaccine. News reported that individual state dictates when and how vaccine is dispensed. Highest number of virus deaths here. Schools won't reopen until spring and may be in session thru the summer. We have so many cases and not enough medical staff that leaders are asking for Mercy ship to return here.

My apt manager gave each tenant a present. A small gift bag with chocolate kisses and gold coins and a candle. Her note read: Chocolate kisses to kiss 2020 goodbye. Candles to lead the way to a bright, happy and healthy 2021. Gold candy to assist in prosperity. Happy New Year.

Good idea to have the sign about your DH being in danger as he had the lung transplant so he needs to be protected, Debbie. Loved your poster, Celeste.

I know its no longer morning, but this was too cute to pass up emoticon

Jane - glad to hear you were able to get the vaccine!! No idea when it will be available (for my group) here. I'll contact my doctor after the first of the year to get more info. In the meantime, I'll continue with Instacart, Amazon & other local deliveries!! emoticon

Karen - sure hope you weren't infected. When will you be able to get tested - just to make sure?

Son/DIL/grandkids are camping this week, so I'm kitty-sitting. Will be going over to check on Sherbert in a few minutes. That's the extent of my outings emoticon

TEE ..... I can see you in my minds eye, crossing your legs. I have been there so many times!

GRANDMAKARENG ..... Praying you stay safe and clear of the virus. I have Lysol spray in different areas of my house and everything gets covered when something like that happens. We also posted a sign on the door to warn others that DH is susceptible due to double lung transplant.....

Rain is coming in today through Wednesday then freezing temps during the night Wednesday.

Karen, hope you don't get it. I have been around a few people who later found out they had it and stayed inside with plenty of zinc and vitamin c to ward it off.

Thanks for the tips about a gym. I am doing some at home but really need a pool and some weights. I can probably wait a few more months to see if things with Covid get a little better

Have a great Wednesday!

Frances....I laughter at checking your list twice. Gyms are open in your area? Ours gyms are closed. I heard my Y was offering some outdoor classes, but I refused to go until virus is controlled. My membership has been on hold since March and restarts when they reopen pools. I have been a member of the YMCA for over 20 years. I like it so much I go there when I visit my sister in Pa. I found the Y is cleaner than other gyms in my area. My doctors recommend pool exercise. My Y has several pools and arthritis pool class which is like pool pt. Arthritis pool class is included in my membership. They do the same exercises as pool pt which costs $150 a session. I belonged to other gyms and they don't compare to the Y. Members are friendlier at the Y. The members in PA invited me to join their snack group while I waited for my sister to pick me up and I had only attended two classes with them. Choosing a gym depends on your preferences. I need a pool, stationary bike, weights and classes. I would ask gyms you are considering if they offer a free trail. Some offer this for a week which will help you decide which facility suits you.

Nasfkab....Wonderful posts. I hope you had a nice day.

Karen....Sorry your GD exposed you to the virus. Chances are you won't get it since she was far away and stayed a short time. CDC said if you have virus you should start experiencing symptoms in 4 days. So I think and pray you are clear. Good that your grands don't have symptoms and niece and family are better.

Crossing my legs in the car wasn't easy due to limited mobility and small car. As soon as the rain lightened up, I put on my jacket and prepared to exit car. Opened door and sky opened up again. At that point, I kept repeating what female urologist told me. I don't have to go...I don't have to go. It helped. I ran to the bathroom when it stopped. Went in out door since entrance was roped off so I could reach bathroom. I also visited bathroom on way out in case I got caught in another down pour. When I was young I needed to know where bathrooms were located so my kids could go. Now I need to know where they are so I can go. LOL

It was a nice day. Cold and clear. I could see the mountains with snow from my bedroom window. I wore jeans and long sleeve top to work which was fine with sun out. By 4 pm it was so cold at work, I made and drank hot cocoa to warm up. I have sweatshirt in my car trunk but didn't need it on way home since car heat was on.

I stopped at a store near work to get things my store was out of and supplies for my boss. I got everything on my list except Aleve. Drove home and freezing in my computer room. So sitting here with heater on my feet.

It is 40 degrees here at night. You would think the cold would kill the virus, but that is not the case. High numbers again today. Governor extended stay at home indefinitely.

Today is New Year's Eve, Eve. The last day I work for this year.

Oh my...TEE...I laughed as I pictures you in car ...legs crossed with it raining.

I have tried to be a careful with my contacts with people. Not going anywhere. Only person I see is Jill. Well, on Christmas day my grandaughter Mindy brought me a beautiful blanket. It has pictures of all 5 of her kids. I forgot to lock the door & she came in house. It was a short visit with her about 5 feet from me. Sunday she lost her smell. She decided to get tested since she does child care. Well she has virus. I am on day #4 of watching for symptoms. Since then Mindys 14 year old daughter & her brother ( my grandson ) have lost smell. Grandson being tested.
So far they are not sick. My neice & family are better.

Our next two days will be nice but storms on New Year's Eve and then cold again. I am planning for the New Year this week and making a list and checking it twice! LOL

Anyway, I am a member of a local gym which I have not been to since COVID but want to start back. However, I would prefer the YMCA which is further away but has more equipment and a pool!!

Any advice on this?? Thanks!!

Jane...Sorry you didn't get vaccine. Have you seen the movie Lost In Translation? Your experience is like the movie. I hope you get it today.

Celeste...Cutie cartoon. Vaccine not available to seniors here either.

Nasfkab....The doctor constantly changes my meds than can't see me because she is away or booked. 100 in the summer. Like the desert in CA. I looked for undies today. They were made in your country but store didn't have my size.

I spoke too soon about weather. 40 degrees here. Thunder and heavy rain from midnight until 1 am yesterday. Thunderstorms again around noon. Thunder is so rare I don't know the last time we had it. Heavy rain on and off. Some areas got snow. Beach had hail. Adds to the screwy year we are having.

I went to the banks when rain stopped. First bank is small and slow and let 4 customers in. Took half hour to make deposit. I had to show my drivers license to deposit cash. Shaking my head. I am going to switch bank due to bad service. Second bank allowed two customers in. Both of our transactions took a long time. I felt sorry for customers that had to wait outside in the rain until we finished.

I went to Walmart afterwards since it wasn't raining. Parked in handicapped and sky opened up. I had to go potty and couldn't leave car. My mom toilet trained us by running the water. So when we hear water we have to go. Crossed my legs and waited for downpour to stop. At least I got a free car wash. Few customers and cashiers empty. I haven't been in the store for a year and got most of the things on my list.

Not raining when I got home. Entered apt and poured cats and dogs. Phew! I ordered my last exercise dvd for the year from ins co and paid bills.

Supposed to be cold but no rain today. I work and am heading to bed. Night

Celeste, the road is still rolling…

Nas, thank you.
I checked a map of Bangladesh in comparison with the equator and realize Guam is closer to the equator. Our temperatures are consistent year round by a few degrees.

I went to the site for the vaccine just before one today as I had been advised. I was turned away as were several before me. They are allotting 400 per day and from what I understand the crowd was massive.
I came home and went to sleep, emotionally and mentally exhausted.
I did have a nice lunch at Lone Star with my Tuesday bunch. Two of them have gotten the shots.

Cant understand why your Dr decreases the dosage of your meds before going off on vacation, these medical people can be so difficult & are hard on patients at times, Tee. We get to over 100 in summer but its winter for us now, hence the low temperatures. All the best, jane & you get the vaccine soon.

Frances, glad you were able to spend time with your family and grands.
My sister died in 2001 and I was the executrix of her estate so I have an idea of what you are going through. She was 17+ years older than I, lived here on Guam, here daughters are far flung so I ended up with the job.
More people here do not take decorations down until after 3 Kings which is in January.
Glad you were able to attend church in the flesh.

Nas, thank your for the encouraging words. Dhaka is cooler than Guam. Our temperatures fluctuate from 70ºF to the high 90ºF’s.

Karen, I think you were wise to leave the food on the porch. From what I understand some people do not get a cough with the virus. People 65 and older will get the vaccine a little later.

Tee, thank you for your encouragement.
Sorry your doctor has a habit of lowering your medication right after Christmas.
With my cloth masks I can put another filter in if I choose to.
Sorry there are so many new covid cases. Guam has been able to get our cases low again by quarantining people coming in from off island and doing a lot of testing for those who want to check if they have been exposed.
Hope you got the rain and can still got to the bank.

I did NOT get the vaccine today! I am so upset with my mayor I could spit nails. I went to where the vaccines are being given but the guards at the gate would not let me in. They did take my name, DOB and phone number. I have been given so many stories about what to do I finally called another mayor and asked questions which she was very nice to inform me. Lord willing I will get the vaccine tomorrow. The Yigo mayor is not going to be in office much longer and has not interest in the people of this village.

God is still on His throne and I am his child and I need to remember to “Be still and know that I am God…” Psalm 46:10.

Jane...Glad you took the bull by the horns and will get vaccine tomorrow.

Frances...I hope church service was nice and you enjoyed seeing friends. Good that you took some decorations down and organized your mom's papers. Tomorrow is trash pick up here. I saw trees at the curb when driving to store today.

Nasfkab...Thanks. Less swelling today. Your temperature is like Ca.

Karen...Wonderful that you brought food to family. My friends with virus said pain and fatigue kept them from caring for their family. Luckily, the grandma was negative and cared for adults and children. I will look for that movie since I love Jimmy Durante. I hope it never gets down to 40 here.

I was energetic yesterday bc I took correct amount of medication. My energy fizzled today. Doctor lowered my thyroid meds before Xmas. I am depressed and hibernate on days I take lower dose. Realized she does this the same time yearly. Then, she goes on vacation and I struggle to get thru holidays. I took lower dose today and fell asleep after breakfast. Woke in the afternoon and would have gone back to bed if I hadn't taken the other pill she discontinued. I will email her about this so I don't run out of meds before end of month. I didn't have food since bare shelves at market yesterday and went to Costco. I wear two masks in stores.

14,000 new cases today. Facilities are now testing for new strain. Hospitals discontinued elective surgery. Trump signed stimulus bill. $600 won't help people pay their rent. Most people are 9 months behind on rent. No eviction for non payment of rent ends Dec 31st. No word if government is extending deadline.

Rain predicted tonight into tomorrow. Some weathermen saying not much rain. Others saying a 2 or more inches. I hope first weathermen are right since I need to go to bank in the morning.

I took a crockpot of goulash to my neice today. I Set the boxes of food on porch & kids got them in after I left. Jenn has lots of aches but no cough yet.

I found another great old movie on TCM. A CHRISTMAS WISH staring Jimmy Durante. It is in black & white. I am not missing the Hallmark movies since I have TCM.

Tee.... I wish I had some of your energy.
Jane...I hope you get the vaccine. I am not sure but I think 65 & older can get it on second round in Ohio.
Frances...Did you enjoy your worship service? I watched Dr. David JEREMIAH again today. I hope I can hear the sermon from my church. It is usually available on Monday but does not always have CC.

NAS...What is the weather like in your town? It got up to 44 degrees here today. Will be cooler all week.
Take care everyone

Had a great day visiting each of my children's homes on Christmas Day even though it was very cold! All the grands were so excited and played all day.

Yesterday, got a little rest but started working in mom's room going through her papers and bills to get things organized so I can send out emails to them to notify them of her death. The death certificate came yesterday so I can get started on that tomorrow.

Also, got some of the Christmas decorations down but still more to do. But today, I am going to church for the first time since March (didn't want to get out and bring in anything that would harm mom). We will social distance there and wear masks. I miss my church family. We have been doing some Zoom meetings but it isn't the same.

Hope you all have a great Sunday!

Nas, the chefs apparently were not supervising carefully.

Karen, I do hope your DD nor her DH come down with the virus.

Tee, I was pleasantly surprised that the noise ended as early as it did.
Glad you made it to the store.
Good you found the muffin pan and sorry you were too tired to bake.
Your exercise sounds good.
Glad your son called and called again. His girlfriend is a blessing caring for those patients.

The mayor of my village has dropped the ball big time. His office is to set up those of us 75 and over to get the vaccine if we choose to. I tried to contact his office last week but no one was there. I tried again today and finally contacted someone at our COVID-19 information hot line that said to go to the vaccine site and get the vaccine. If anyone questions me say she sent me. I taught her son in kindergarten many years ago, she is a nurse and we have supported each other over the years.
So, I will show up tomorrow morning at 9:00 a.m. with my passport and drivers license.

Jane...Great that it is a quiet day after party night. Glad turkeys were tossed. I remember that song. 65 and over plus cancer, diabetes, autoimmune and obese get vaccine at same time here. Firefighters started getting today. My stage may get vaccine in 1-2 weeks. I don't want to stand in line for groceries. No way I am doing it for vaccine.

Nasfkab....I love Brazil nuts. Cracking shell is impossible. Better to buy shelled but cost $15 a pound.

Karen....Old movies are good. Sorry your niece has virus. Your DD and mine need their head examined. LOL 30 guests! Wow! My DD had 6 guests

I stayed off computer in daytime to get things done. The day started with me addressing and mailing a birthday and New Year's card. Showered and grocery shopping next. My ankles are so swollen moving is slow. Store only had half the items I needed but plenty of toilet paper, New Years and Valentine supplies. It's been like that all month.

Unpacked groceries and ate cottage cheese with blueberries. Lunch super charged me.
I cleaned out cabinet under microwave. Tossed cookie tins, old pans, etc. Found muffin pan.
I wanted to make gingerbread muffins but was too tired when finished. Getting down with stiff, swollen legs was challenging. Getting up was easier.
I cleaned kitchen tile grout next. Rested, tossed recycle and trash and put feet up. Then, I did chair exercise. DVD was better than gym class. I could only move legs a little. No problem with upper body. Hardest part was putting elastic band around legs. Band is short and kept slipping. I did first workout which was 30 minutes. Near the end of workout, my cell rings in my purse. Well, I couldn't get up with band around legs. Ringing stopped when I reached phone. Luckily I put phone on snack table near me. During cool down cell rings again. It was my son and his girlfriend thanking me for gifts and promising to get together when things reopen. Son's girlfriend is a nurse caring for covid patients.

Supposed to be cold and rainy today thru Monday.

I watched MEET ME IN ST.LOUIS last night. Another great old movie.

My niece is now sick with the virus. TEE...I share your concern about large family gatherings without mask. My daughter is hosting her hubbies family tonight. Probably more than 30. About 10 different households. Her hubby is diabetic & has hypertension. He is a very large man. I hope he does not getthe virus.

It is nice to see many posting.

Great you watched grands opening gifts, Tee, never had Brazil nuts, hope you feel better today, wish your DD would be more careful with where she goes. So careless about the hotels not removing that bag of giblets, Jane. SHSW

Thelma, I have eaten Brazil Nuts because of the nutrients but getting them here is a challenge so I have not had them for a long time. (Over a year.)
Glad there is a radio station that plays Christmas music on Christmas day.
Sounds like the snow is lovely but with ice under it sounds scary.
Hope you got your nap.

Frances, sounds like you had a lovely Christmas.
Yes, Jesus is Lord and my Saviour and such a blessing to remember He came to earth so I may have eternal life with Him in heaven one day.

Nas, hope you had a great day.

Celeste, it is so good to hear from you! Glad it was because you were busy and did not have time for the computer.
Having FaceTime with the family sounds great.
Your Charlie Brown cartoon is adorable.

Karen, sounds like you had a good day with some visits.
A glider to put on the porch sounds delightful.
Sorry about the people who got sick at a party your neice’s family attended.
I understand about not going to church. I hope what I said last Sunday will have the adults and older children wearing them this Sunday.

Tee, 65 is considered elderly here but for the vaccine they are starting with those 75 and over. Guam is following the national guidelines. I agree about the dental workers.
I want to go to your grands glamp! Glad the grands all like their gifts.
Sorry about DD not being careful about the company.
After my family dinner Christmas eve when the food was being divided for everyone to take home we found that the hotels had not taken the giblets that were still in the plastic bag out of the turkey cavity. My family threw the turkeys away because of concern of contamination and perhaps poisoning of the meat by the cooked plastic. I did say and mean hotels.

This is the day after Christmas here on Guam and all has been quiet.
Last night my Chuukese neighbors were quite rowdy starting about seven in the evening but they quieted down by nine thirty. It reminded me of when I lived in Chuuk and Pohnpei many years ago.
Most of the parties in this housing end about midnight on the weekend and ten in the evening during the week.

Song I remember from my youth, “Let there be peace on earth and let it begin with me.”

Jane...Glad radio broadcasted American Christmas and you will get vaccine next week. 65 qualify for vaccine here. Day care and assisted living facilities , diabetics and immune compromised are second. Dentists arguing they should be in first group since they work in patient's mouth.

Thelma...I ate Brazil nuts for selenium until discovering other food contain it. Eggs ( I eat free range), mushrooms, ham, fish, sunflower seeds/butter, etc. I eat all. Glad I stopped buying Brazil nuts since they're expensive. I enjoyed uninterrupted radio today too. Hope nap was energizing. DS showed on time and snow stopped.

Frances...Enjoy visit, meal and gift exchange with family.

Nasfkab...Love seeing you pop your head in. SHSW

Celeste...I am same way. Nothing gets done when I get on computer. Glad you Face timed with grands and will join them for dinner.

Karen...Wonderful that family brought meal and gifts. Blanket and glider are nice. Great that you watched church and enjoyed holiday movies from the comfort of your home.

I watched two services. Vatican midnight mass took place early bc of their curfew. Everyone wore mask and distanced. Second service was Presbyterian church in NY with no distancing and masks. Pews, orchestra and choir in this church were packed. Sermon better than Vatican.

Phone woke me this morning. It was auto message from pt reminding me of appointment on Monday. No appointment that day since facility closed until 1/2/21. Sheesh! I was making coffee when DD called so I could watch grand boys open presents. The oldest (10) loved books. His brother (8) loved lego. Yesterday my GD (4) opened/ played with peppa pigs toys I sent her and explained why it is glamper, not camper to her mom. LOL

Woke with nasal congestion became extremely tired around 2 pm and went to bed. Woke to friend's call at 5 pm. Clearer nose from not using cpap while napping. Heated pre made dinner and gave half to neighbor. Not happy with meal. Mostly potatoes with little meat and carrots. That was my day.

I am upset with DD. Her sil that lives in AZ is there with her two adopted girls for 4 days. Mil and Fil that live in orange county with highest number of cases ( Disneyland) were there yesterday. I reminded DD that gathering with people outside immediately family is out. She gets bronchitis, pneumonia easily and been hospitalized several times in the past. DD said her hubby and nieces were tested and negative, but others weren't.

I have been enjoying holiday programs all day. I might watch a movie tonight.

Jill stopped by & we exchanged gifts & had a nice visit. Mindy brought me a beautiful blanket with all 5 of kids pictures on it. It is beautiful.

Tracey brought my meal & extra for Jill. My kids went together & got me an outdoor glider. I will enjoy it when It warms up.

My neice family attended party last weekend. 5 attendees are now sick. I hope my brother does not get it. He has COPD. He was not at the party but they have been with grandkids this week. Fortunately they cancelled their own party.

I decided not to go to church. Watched it on tv. Not everyone wears a mask to services.

Hope you have all found some joy in your day.

Jane - thank you for the e-mail. Yes, I have been MIA on the computer. So many things that I was/am trying to get done around the house. I know if I sit down to the computer, nothing will get done emoticon I have major catch-up for the steps too. Will get that all caught up tomorrow.

Had FaceTime with the grandkids this morning & I'll be going there for dinner. Won't be a long visit because I know the kids don't like having to wear masks for any length of time emoticon And I don't blame them - neither do I emoticon

Hope everyone is enjoying their Christmas!!!

Tee, hide & seek with onions? Had me giggling too. So much for trusting Google as to what the nut was. I have been buying Brazil Nut...suppose to be high in selenium...only takes 1 a day to get the nutrient but I eat 2....they are SO GOOD!! I have walnuts on my oatmeal daily. Getting low on those so next Dr appt DH has will stop in to Sam's Club to get more
I enjoy listening to Christmas music while baking.....a radio station played Christmas music yesterday uninterrupted of any talk
Got everything fixed for dinner except baking the rolls and making mashed potatoes. Got a few gifts to wrap but no biggy since don't know when DS will go see his DD and family and take these here with him
We are having a White Christmas....rained heavy at times yesterday...got 1 1/2" rain...turned cold overnight and now snow is falling....not a big snow storm but just enough to look very pretty
Keeping nodding here so think I will just grab a nap before getting this day on the road.
MERRY CHRISTMAS TO ALL.

Nas, thank you I did enjoy being with the family.

Debbie, part of the problem with my church family is so many of them are related, around each other a lot and forget that during church there are others there who are not part of their group. We have on line service but FB and I do not get along so the programs get cut off.

Karen, hope you have a good Christmas and had a good sleep. Mine got interrupted last nigh with someone shooting guns or firecrackers. (This is common on Guam.)

Tee, your nativity display is sweet.
I grew up with filberts and found out they also called hazelnuts after coming and living on Guam for years.
Hide and seek with onions! I am still laughing.

Who will the second group include for the vaccine. Hope it is the elderly.
Sorry you forgot to close the window and got cold.

On Christmas day one of our radio stations has broadcast “An American Christmas by Mannheim Steamroller” playing Christmas music, telling stories and giving trivia through the day. I have kept the sound low and enjoyed listening to the program.

The government of Guam will be giving vaccines to those 75 and older next week. I plan to get the vaccine.

Hope your day has been a blessing.

Thelma...The nuts are hazelnuts/filberts. We ate them when I was growing up. Not the easiest nut to crack. Wreaths are beautiful. Wonderful that your grandson texted he loves you.

Jane...Glad you had dinner with family and exchanged gifts with family. I am sure GGD gifts will keep her busy for several months.

Nasfkab....Exercise is important. I hope you had a good day.

Debbie....I am being careful not to catch virus but you never know. A woman coughed phlegm when I was in grocery store line and everyone ran away.

Karen...Good nights sleep.

I slept well and woke with my head almost off bed. I have too many pillows on my bed and need to get rid of some. I didn't do chair exercise. It took too long for me to put YouTube and silver and fit on Roku. I am going to look for Roku that I can talk to since I always do something wrong while inputting search and end up having to start over again. I moved furniture and found onion. Place it in netting, hung and another onion rolled somewhere. Moved everything again to find. Then twist tie netting so they don't fall out again cause I am tired of hide and seek.

We have so many cases here with hospitals full doctors may decide who gets treated. Treatment will depend on age and chance of survival. Churches can have indoor service with few people. The big cathedral in LA holds 3,000 people and only 100 allowed. I only went to mailbox today. I don't need anything from stores. News reported second group may start getting vaccine next week.

Cold, windy and cloudy with rain. Not enough rain to measure. Sun appeared around 2 pm. I opened windows and couldn't figure out why my apt was cold after sunset. Yep, I left the living room window open. More of the same weather tomorrow.

I watched Xmas movie while eating dinner and going to finish watching It's a Wonderful Life now.

Merry and Safe Christmas to all.

YIGOBUTTERFLY .... You would think that of all places to feel safe, church would be the one place but we had to stop going to our services because the members were not wearing there masks correctly or safe distancing from us or anyone else , even with all the precautions the church went to too space off the seating areas......Luckily our church offers on-line services.

Merry Christmas Eve everyone. I have read your posts but not commenting tonight.
I just got back from my son's home where we had dinner and exchanged gifts. My GGD is a character and ended up with some many gifts I am not sure when she will play with them all.

It was a good evening.

Nas...the candy is made with 10X sugar, pnut butter, and butter ..was not sure what kind of nut it was so looked it up for you and was very interesting...one site called it a Horsenut.....the nut is poisonous..one site said if cooked it is safe but another said not to eat! Mostly for decorations...it resembles the eye of a deer so henceforth the name "Buckeye"...True story...my grandson called the "Deer Eyes"
Tee, I guess DS and wife coming for dinner.....heck I never know with him....we tell him what time dinner and he may or may not come in time.....last year fed up with that practice so told him the time and that we ate with or without him.....would you believe he came early??? WHY did I do that years ago??
A heart warming story in next state not far from here. A 4 yr old with stage 4 neuroblastoma came home to likely spend his last Christmas with family. His Make A Wish request??? He loves jeeps so wanted to see a few ride by his house...the count is still not in but over 3,000 jeeps from many states .. .some decorated with lots of light had a parade of jeeps going by his house for Georgie...brings tears to my eyes to think of it.
Got wreaths on last night:

Mom's birthday 2 days after Christmas and sure she was "short changed" on recognition so I left a small bundle of roses just for her....She would have been 100 this year
I did something on the way to cemetery....I only have signal on my phone when out and about so decided to send a text message to my grandson of "Merry Christmas, I love you, and I miss you" I have not heard or seen him for several years. Last I saw his son he was about 3 months old....he is now about 3 or 4....there are times I can't remember the childs name since not being around or seeing him. I understand there is another baby on the way also....anyway I text him knowing that over the years he may have changed his number....last night while putting pics from camera onto pc I get a text back wishing me Merry Christmas also and those wonderful 3 words....I LOVE YOU....this Grandma or as he calls me "MEEMS" is walking on air....best ever Christmas present!!!

Jane...I am sure your family will enjoy mandarin oranges. Sorry for on and off rain and missing movie at church. I wonder if Sharon Spark went no mail. I hope that is the only reason she hasn't posted.

Thelma...Buckeye candy looks delicious. My son loves pb and would devour them. Glad you like new mixer and your nephew agreed with your putting wreaths on gravesites today. I hope electric doesn't go out and DH helps with ham. Are you having company for Xmas or just the two of you? The star picture you posted was taken in Africa.

Nasfkab....Sorry your back aches. I hope you feel better soon. I think the nuts are filberts..

I didn't sleep well last night. Lots of tossing/ turning and adjusting cpap mask. Sciatic started in again which I think is from sitting too long at work. I made it to work and left early. My boss said time to close up a few minutes before leaving. She does this so I can clean desk and go potty before leaving. I told her to hold on. I just received a fax and needed 2 minutes to put the information in computer. She was having her DD, sil and GD over for dinner and gift exchange. Her DD called to say her DH hadn't showered and she had to dry her daughter's hair. They live an hour away. There wasn't any rush and boss handing me things to do. After a few What the heck and laughter, I left what she handed me to do for next week. Driving home in daylight was nice.

What Thelma said is correct. You can test negative and get virus afterwards and not know it. It takes a few days for symptoms to appear. My Tenn. friend that tested negative after his DD tested positive has the virus now. Health Dept has warned about this. Over 16,000 new cases today. Traffic was bumper to bumper and lines outside stores long. People aren't following stay at home orders and it shows in the numbers. Pfizer said they could tweak vaccine to cover new strains but it will take a week or so. So far the new strain isn't here. I hope and pray it stays that way. I watched news about Amazon yesterday. 20,000 of their employees tested positive. They have lights on the floor that show if an employee is too close and other safeguards. Malls and stores reported large number of employees that tested positive. Bank of America closed branches here due to employees testing positive. Most of the people I know are isolating for the holidays.

I keep onions and potatoes in mesh bag that I hang on hook in my kitchen since they last longer that way. Well, the onions fell before I left for work. I saw one roll under the table but couldn't find it. Tomorrow will be find the onion day.

I read health magazine article that doing chair exercise is important now. So I am going to try to do chair DVD exercise I received. HN will start streaming exercise sessions to tv on Jan 1st. PT is closed for two weeks and I need to do some exercise so I am not a basket case in Jan.

Merry Christmas Grandmothers.

Tee, Buckeye candy is pnut butter and butter whipped together then confection sugar (10X) is added to make a round ball then dipped into chocolate. My old mixer that I had for over 35 yrs went Ka-pooey several months ago so bought a new one...Kitchen Aid @ Sam's Club.....that thing is THE BOMB!! I did not have to mix all that stuff by hand as yrs before I did...It mixed it up perfectly!!! I'm in love!! I can't wait to see what it does for making bread dough.
Called nephew and he was cool with DH & I taking wreaths up today before dark....3 of the 4 are on timers and will light up for 5 hrs from time I turn them on. I will take pictures and send to him so he can see and then show his Dad (my DB) ..It is the best that we can do right now.
I am even considering having DH help me to put ham in roaster pan today since the forecast I just listened to calling for heavy rain tomorrow and with damaging winds...so our power may be off.....yes we have the generator but only want to use right now to plug in fridge and freezer after power being off for a few hours.
Francis, again my sincere condolences to you and the family....and the pic of you and your grands is beautiful!!!
Tee, right now will try to deal with sciatic but really don't want on that prednisone any more...I did check my glucose once when not feeling right and yep it did raise the count so rather to try to rest when it is kicking in emoticon emoticon emoticon did I just type that.....LOL.....it ain't easy for me to take it easy....I push too much but it is the way I am.
DH got his B12 shot yesterday....now the once a week done and will get once a month for 6 months....he asked the gal giving it about her views on the vaccine....She said the CRNP there were doing as much research as they could but not comfortable with what is involved in the vaccine.....that is not making us feel comfy about it. My question is that they don't want you to get vaccine if you in fact have the virus.....well there are too many factors in that....what if you have it but no symptoms?? There are stories of being tested and are negative when in fact you come down with it soon after....this virus does not play well with others does it??
Got some pics of the "star". off of FB...must have been a beautiful site:

Thelma, hopefully DH is realizing he needs to stop “helping” everyone. Your cousin sounds like an exception, but the others…
Different places are having different restrictions as to the numbers of people allowed.
Glad I have not had to stand in line especially one that the weather is so cold.
I think I would forgo putting a wreath on a grave in the weather you are describing. Wait a few days.

Nas, I am concerned for Sharon also. Hopefully we will hear from her soon.

Frances, the picture is beautiful and celebrating your mom and the birth of our Saviour sounds great.

Debbie, glad you will be enjoying a very cold Christmas.

Tee, I hope you are correct that the Pfizer vaccine will take care of the new strain of Covid-19.
Your office Christmas meal sounds great.
Sorry you are having trouble texting.
Glad the lidocaine patch took away the sciatic and other pain.
Good to be able to close early just before Christmas.

My niece, who lives in Denmark showed pictures on FB of the “star” from Africa. Very beautiful, but it is not what the wisemen saw.
I went grocery shopping this morning and got a large bag of mandarin oranges to take to the family get together. There are no seeds in it and I think my four year old GGD will enjoy pealing her own orange.
I had planned to go to a movie at church this evening but it has rained off and on all day and being inside may not be safe as I am not sure what people with do about their face masks when no one can see them.

IF YOU HAVE BEEN TESTED FOR THE VIRUS YOU ARE FINE THEN BUT DEPENDING ON WHERE YOU GO YOU MAY NOT BE FINE NOW!!!

Jane...Lunch, gift shopping and nap. A good day. Sorry Sharon hasn't responded to your email.

Thelma...What is buckeye candy? Can you refill pain med so sciatic doesn't flare again? It is nice of DH to help others. Saying no may lead them calling someone else for help. Sorry about rain and wind on wreath day. I hope your nephew changes plans.

Nasfkab... Good that you don't make anything sweet. Wish could say the same. My friend used to say if I didn't have bad luck, I wouldn't have any luck.

Frances...Sorry for your loss. RIP. Wonderful that family celebrated her life. Beautiful picture of you with grands.

Debbie...Sorry clouds kept you from seeing star and happy others were able to share the pictures. Great that you are looking forward to cold Christmas week.

There is a new strain of virus in Europe which is more contagious. 12,000 new cases here with hospitals full. Some hospitals are setting up beds in recovery, conference rooms and outside tents. Pfizer said vaccine can be adjusted to handle new strains.

Christmas work lunch was good. We ate in the doctor's office since he hasn't been there since March. I had grilled white fish over squash and spinach. Appetizer was sliced French bread with tomato, avocado and melted brie. My son's work had Xmas luncheon too. Company ordered in and had employees eat at their desk.

Wearing lidocaine patch for 12 hours took away sciatic, hip and leg pain. A blessing. My steps were down bc my niece texted me. It takes long time for me to reply lately on my phone. I need to try speaking replies.

I finished reading e Xmas book yesterday and at a loss as to what to read tonight. I can't sleep unless I read in bed.

I have to be at work early since closing early and better get to bed. .

GRAYGRANNY ..... Thank you for the sweet words. He is doing so well and we are all so very happy....... Please take care of yourself and DH, you don't want to be on the list of those needing help emoticon

Good morning,

Today is mom's funeral and we will celebrate her life. A life of 90 years. She loved her family so much and didn't get out much to make friends outside of family because she was devoted to us. So grateful for her and all I learned from her.

Sunday we had our family get-together and enjoyed celebrating family in honor of mom and, of course, Jesus Christ. Here are me and my seven grands...

Today is the best day to begin making changes for yourself and others both inside and out!

Feel it would be you to have that cart, Tee, hope rest of day is better. Great you are giving cards as gifts restaurants as gifts, Jane. Never make anything sweet for any occasions or parties as I avoid it for Omar. Enjoy your day al except Jane who might be asleep. Worried about Sharon.

Ok Tee, you had me on the visual ride with the cart emoticon .
DH had to go fix a leak for my cousin yesterday....her DH (was my DH's best buddy) passed away 10 yrs ago so we do what ever we can for her....they were also the couple to introduce DH and I on a blind date.....and here it is over 50 yrs later. While standing thee felt sciatic pain coming back. Inflammation meds gone, pain returns....lucky me!! When we got home the phone rang 2 more times with people needing help...garage door not working and a bathroom light that would not work....every Christmas it starts....and as DH said he does not mind helping out but he is retired and there are others out there to help.....he is finally seeing he needs to slow down.....especially when he needs help now in helping them

I may be wrong...was listening yet not really on news last night that beginning tomorrow there will not be allowed any more than 100 ppl in stores....that INCLUDES employees. So it you want to wait to do your Christmas shopping it will be outside.....in the winter weather! Oh thank goodness whatever I was gonna get is either done or money as a gift done
Calling for heavy rain and wind Christmas Eve when we were gonna put wreaths on graves of loved ones.....need to call nephew to make other arrangements.....will offer for DH and I alone to do on a Wed late afternoon ourselves or I can just meet him to give him wreaths and he can do what he wants.....NOT a normal year so following "normal" customs is out the window as I see it.
Laundry today and try to make up a batch of buckeye candy......I am wondering what the heck I am doing making all this stuff yet trying to keep up tradition and hope the spirit will hit me....
Star not visible here....was raining but did see some pics of areas that had a clear view

Nas, I sent Sharon a sparkmail several days ago. No reply.

Debbie, the pictures of your DH are great! He looks ready to take on the world! Yes, God is very good!

Joyce, glad you got the heavy cleaning done. Sorry about the heavy rain.

Tee, from what I understand it was no big thing. It was obvious that two planets looked like the kind of came together. In order to see it here I would have had to go to the beach as it was only 10º above the equator. The north star is 13º and I think brighter that the planets because it is a star.
Glad you apnea is better.
Hope the med you applied continues to work. Sorry you had trouble at pt.
Your escapades with the cart are almost funny. I have had my share of problems with them but I am so glad I can use them especially when I grocery shop. The ones here are getting old and have been abused by people. They need to be replaced but that is expensive.

The Tuesday Lunch Bunch had lunch at Ruby Tuesdays today. No salad bar available.
Afterward I stopped at Outback and got gift certificates for my older granddaughters and their significant others and included a small one for the GGD. I had already gotten her art supplies appropriate for a four year old.
I then stopped at Maceys and picked up two gift certificates for my son and DIL.
Came home and took a nap.

Take care and be safe grandmothers.

Jane

Jane...Glad you got teen presents and will give restaurant certificates to the rest. The observatory showed the Christmas star on tv. Some viewers sent in photos too. The planet near Saturn was very bright. It will be visible here for two more days just more distance between them. This is first time it has been seen in 800 years.

Nasfkab....I looked at other groups Sharon belongs to and she hasn't posted on them either. If she has a computer problem she wouldn't see email. I hope computer problem is all it is.

Debbie...Awesome, healthy and happy picture of your DH. Handsome too. Lucky you!

Joyce....I could use cold on my shoulder too. LOL Glad you house is ready for the holidays. Sorry about the rain. Good luck shopping. The stores were packed here today.

First day of winter and it was 80 degrees here. Suppose to be in the 60s tomorrow. I slept well and had lowest apnea in 5 years. Walking to bathroom and sitting on potty was painful. I am sure it is my back bc I put lidocaine patch on spine tonight and pain and immobility gone.

I did okay in pool pt except for squats. The right leg was painful from butt to upper thigh when I did squats. I couldn't put right foot on the pool floor either. I use lidocaine roll on after pt which helped for a while. I am going to order a portable tens machine when I get chance.

I decided to use motorized cart when I went to market to buy gift cards and produce. The cart was odd. No on/off button, etc. When I went down an aisle, cart died. I thought battery was dead. I had to get up and push the cart out of the way so customers could pass. Then a young male employee that was in the aisle and saw me get stuck said he would get someone to help me. Why didn't he help me push the cart? Argh! By the time manager came to help the cart starting working. Then, I went down an aisle and got stuck bc store had tables on an angle to prevent thief and motorized carts from getting thru. Sheesh! The finale was when I used cart to get to my car. The cart got stuck in the middle of the road. I couldn't get it to go no matter what I tried or leave it there since blocked cars. I eventually managed to back up and saw spot without broken road that cart was able to get over. My car was parked next to handicapped space. The woman that pulled into handicapped space said she wanted to use cart. I said it gets stuck and would put it next to her car. She gets in the cart and can't get it to move. It isn't just me. I had to stop my car, get out and help her. I told her to drive cart to store entrance and exchange for different cart since this one was fickle. That's is the last time I use motorized cart.

11,500 new cases. Restrictions many continue into Jan. No one is staying home. Roads and store was packed. India, Australia, etc. closed their boarders. England has new strain of virus and they don't want it.. My son's girlfriend that is a nurse got Pfizer vaccine. She had terrible arm and back pain and had to take off work for two days. She started new job and although she isn't in ICU she has corvid patients.

I got MRI results. Hard to tell but think cysts shrunk. Report said largest is 1 cm. I had a 2 cm in Jan. I doubt gastro is seeing patients but will call on Wednesday for follow up appointment.

I needed to go to bank. Looked up hours and discovered they were cut. Bank only open 10 am to 2 pm on Mon to Fri and closed Sat and Sunday. How are people that work supposed to bank with those hours unless they take off work. The bank being built across the street is looking better daily.

Office Xmas lunch today and I better get to bed.

Good afternoon (late afternoon). Did some heavy duty cleaning, feeling good, the house is done for Christmas and New Years. It has been raining very hard today and I think is supposed to all week. I need to go grocery shopping, will most likely go tomorrow. Happy anniversary Debbie to you and hubby. Have a wonderful evening.

Thelma, you have gotten industrious with the baking. The dinners sound great and a good cause to help with.
Glad you contacted your GD and saw her face on Facetime.
Good you saw your cousin and sorry about almost loosing it but if family cannot know how you are who really will?
Sorry DH’s boss would force people to a party they did not want in order to get their Christmas bonus. What a jerk.
Thank you for the hugs!

Nas, I would say peeling frozen green plantain would be even more difficult that peeling before freezing.

Debbie, people just do not realize how foolish they are to ignore the virus. It has been shown that face masks do protect people.
What a blessing that DH is celebrating his 1st anniversary of double lung transplant!

Karen, wonderful that you were given gifts from you grands.
If your church is practicing social distancing and wearing masks you should be fine. Let us know what you decide.

Joyce, great ideas! Hope your Sunday was a blessing.

Tee, sorry your niece is having the weddings in Florida.
Glad you had a productive day of cleaning. Sorry your manager cannot remember what hours cleaning and being a person is allowed. Sorry TT is at it again.
Guam has had its borders closed since the beginning of the pandemic. If you come here it is an automatic quarantine.
I am sorry to hear what happened to your Indian neighbor. Walking down those stairs was not a good idea.
Glad you have found a good book to read.

Thelma, you are up very early!
Your GGD is a BIG blessing! The Van Gough is delightful.
Robbins in the yard in December sounds delightful. I do miss them and enjoy seeing them when I am stateside.
Yes, clearing the frig of outdated items is a good idea. I need to do that.

I tried to see what the world is calling the Christmas star but it is too cloudy. This is actually two planets coming in visual proximity to each other but is not the star the wisemen saw at the birth of Jesus. That was a miracle that was never seen before nor after the wisemen left Bethlehem.

I got the presents for the teens and plan to get the older ones gift certificates to Lone Star, Outback or perhaps Red Lobster. All three of these restaurants have outside seating. I talked to one of my GD and will get gift certificates to Outback.

Stay safe grandmothers.

Debbie....happy anniversary for sure for your DH and you and the family....what a blessing. I chose to be an organ donor but with my body parts that are worn out don't see how any could be used. I have a cousin when she was a nurse long ago she would go thru the same process when she got home from work...can't even begin to imagine what she would do if nurse today. It is a job for those that are special....don't think I could do it. Hats off to those that do.
Karen, I find art done by little ones are the bomb!!! I love the glow worm my GGD colored for me last time I was with her. I put it on the fridge and took a pic and sent it to GD so she could show the little one that GiGi still has it.....got a voice message on FB when I got on yesterday of the little one "singing" "I love GiGi" My heart just swelled!
Tee, you wore me out in reading what all you did...and the bonus of 10K steps a bonus! TT is one big mess and I am still laughing out loud what you wrote after blowing the hair dryer.....TT is poking the bear emoticon emoticon emoticon
Last 3 mornings have got up to hear the singing of ROBINS....I mean flocks of them!! Now not all migrate I know but 3 mornings of these guys singing their heart out and bouncing around the yard looking for worms is just blowing my mind. They don't eat from birdfeeders so only where there is snow melt it they find any worms or bugs at all is what they have for food. Don't think there will be any star to look at in my area as they are calling for rain and maybe a mixture of snow/ice in mountains. I will look for pics that are posted on the internet of those that have clear skies
I got my cupboards cleaned out and organized...then decided to go ahead and clean the glass shelves of fridge so things are looking great at the moment but takes no time for me to have it cluttered again.....I HATE to waste but found some real outdated items that not comfortable in using this late in the game....saving a little over a dollar my wind up in ER so just not worth it. Did find some old graham crackers I bought in 2017! They were the chocolate ones I wanted to try...well I did eat 2 of the 3 sleeves but they are not for me so think the birds have graham crackers on the menu for today
Woke up at 2:30 and could not get back to sleep so got up to do word find puzzles (I am hooked on them) and then decided to come here....getting sleepy now so may try for a "nap" before having to get up

My Van Gogh master piece...lol

Jane....Sorry clouds kept you from seeing the star. Glad you went to church. I hope congregation talk leads to them wearing mask.

Thelma...Great that Lion's meal was delivered quickly and delicious. My children's vehicles have Sirius radio. My 1998 car has regular radio with tape and cd player. I can't drive around the corner without radio on. Glad your facetimed GD and ran into cousin in store and made more cookies. Christmas star will be here tomorrow. It will be nice and clear.

Nasfkab...Peeling green plantain is why I didn't make squash soup again.

Debbie... emoticon to DH. A blessing that someone gave him their lungs. Sorry about church friends. Some people are selfish. My sil works for casino and does same thing your DD does when he gets home. My Alabama niece just had a bridal shower at restaurant for her daughter. The wedding will be in Florida on Jan 9th since they don't have restrictions. Her grandmother, aunts, uncles and cousins can't go since too risky for elderly, and medical field. This is second wedding she had there. Her son got married there a few months ago.

Karen.....Lovely of your granddaughter to drop off presents to you. Little ones picture and message is special too. Stay safe no matter what you decide.

Joyce...Thanks. I hope you had a blessed, restful Sunday.

It was a beautiful warm day. I had energy and did a lot. Almost 10,000 steps. I cleaned part of my china cabinet. Got rid of old papers, recipes, etc. Arranged my angel display on both shelves and will tackle rest of cabinet when off work.

I changed bed, vacuumed, washed floors, dusted, did laundry, etc. Productive day for a change. Got call from manager around 4 pm. TT called her to complain I was making noise. Excuse me! I was ticked at manager since noise allowed from 8 am to 11 pm. Well why are you calling me about cleaning noise in the daytime? Sheesh! Tell TT to take her psyche medication or a double the dose instead of pot and shut up. Handyman will be sawing in front of her apt tomorrow. emoticon I showered and blew dry hair at 9:30 pm tonight. !@#$ her.

My Tennessee friends that lives in the boon docks have the virus. Her hubby is construction worker and they are high risk. He gave to wife. Their boys and grandparents were negative. England, Canada and Australia shout down their boarders. Good for them. US should do the same. The paramedic that attended to the Florida man that died from corvid on plane has virus. Large number of people leaving town by road and plane for holiday here. A grandmother was interviewed at airport. She said she was going to visit her grands and go to Disney World. Shaking my head. Virus numbers up in Florida too. Vaccine has allergies. I tried and kept missing CDC warning about the allergies.

I found out what happened to India neighbor that died. He was dressing for work when his wife noticed he was sweating and called ambulance. He walked downstairs, got on gurney, said something to wife and died from heart attack. He was 61,a vegetarian that ate a lot of junk food and didn't exercise.

I am reading a good Xmas story that is over 500 pages. I have to read 120 pages by 12/23 to finish book before automatically returned. Heading to bed to read now. Good night

One of my granddaughters dropped off a bag of gifts for me. 6 year old Viv painted me a picture of Frosty. She also printed a message to me.

I am missing being with all of them but know it is best. I have 9 grandchildren & 9 great grandchildren & hope to see all of them next year.

I am being tempted to attend a CHRISTMAS EVE service at my church. I am thankful there will be services on line if I decide not to go.

Hope you are all well. Praying for Sharon.

RAWLESROSE ..... GRANDMAKARENG .....APPEALSTOME..... NASFKAB .....
Thank you. I am truly loving that they are coming back into my life!

APPEALSTOME ...... I get so confused and yes, a little angry when I see people in picture in large groups, no masks, head to head hugging each other in pictures and kissing on small children. The numbers keep climbing here and yet people choose to move on doing their own thing. Two very close dear friends of ours from church refuse to mask up unless its a required legal thing, and now they both have Covid. Its sad to me..... she got over the virus just to end up suffering from double pneumonia, but yet they still head out to restaurant to celebrate birthday's. I just do not understand the reasoning behind it all..... As for me and my little bubble of people, "Me, DD, and DH", we isolate and DD goes to work at a gas station alone in her little box, comes home and goes in the garage, takes her work cloths and puts them in the washer, uses body wipes to wipe down, and runs to the bathroom to shower before coming back out into the family area. To each there own I guess..... Just praying that this goes away soon and that I get to hug up on all our babies, young and old! emoticon

YIGOBUTTERFLY ..... I plan lots of pictures for sure and THANK YOU for the sweet word!

GRAYGRANNY ..... That's what my DH said about winter. He heads out when it hits 70 and I give him a high 5 on the way back in. I am VERY excited about the furniture! emoticon

GRANDMAKARENG ..... I'm so sorry to hear about your pain, Vick's Vapor rub and I are very good friends....

APPEALSTOME ..... I laughed about the diarrhea of the mouth! I have said that myself so often!

Today is DHs 1st Lungiversary, the name we chose for his 1 year anniversary of his double lung transplant. Seems sad that we will be celebrating alone, but HEY..... we are getting to celebrate! God is good!

Made another small batch cookies yesterday after returning from grocery stores and picking up the dinners. The dinners were turkey, stuffing, mashed potatoes, gravy, green beans w/corn and chocolate cake in one box and pumpkin roll in other...DH cut the cakes into and put a peice each so we could enjoy both. It was so very, very good! We thought we would have to wait forever but pulled right up and they asked the name and how many was asked for and they put in back of vehicle.
You get free Sirius radio for about 3 months trial to suck you into buying.....well it was not a new car but we got the same thing last vehicle we bought....DH was locked in and kept it until I finally pointed out the rates went up and we are not using that vehicle much for travel so dump it....living in the mountains like we do there is an issue getting any radio to stay as you travel along highway....we have radio preset ones we do get and where .
Had not heard from GD for a few days and seen where she had not viewed message snet on FB so I don't normally do Facetime but had to know she was ok. She and her DH out shopping....oh my goodness it was SO good to see that beautiful face.
When grocery shopping ran into my cousin....we have become real close in messaging on FB. Now of course I look like I have been crying anyway with chronic dry eyes but when she looked at me and asked how I really was doing I almost lost it....Inside my head I am going "Get it together Thelma!!"Got my act together then when saying our goodbyes and Merry Christmas to each other I almost broke again....Hating to be out in this stuff then my arms not being able to give hugs is taking a toll on my nerves.....and here I thought I was a strong one
DH's boss used to have his Christmas dinner the day after Thanksgiving...busiest travel time and Black Friday shopping and for some night before the big deer hunt so he screwed up a lot of plans right there. THEN it was not until after the dinner and the crappy and sometime vile entertainment that employees would get their Christmas bonus checks in envelope....but if you did not come and if you did not stay then no bonus.....sorta like being held hostage is what I seen it as being....last party on last year DH said he was gonna be done with them end of year and did not need that bullcrap and did not go
Think I will try to straighten out cupboards sometime today....told DH we are starting to hoarde....never had that much food packed into cupboards before.....it is not wanting to go out often that I buy more than I should....seen hoarding go on with Aunt....she lived thru the depression so it was on her mind what happened
Everyone have a wonderful day....and I can't physically do but here are some
emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon
for everyone!

Thelma, I know “Arther” is not your friend and wish he would leave you alone. I have a lovely chest of drawers that I would like to see refurbished but I doubt it will happen and it will probably be thrown away when I am gone. Heirlooms are not important here. Too many generations of everything being lost because of a typhoon.
Glad you figured out how to save your cookie batter.
Sorry you got scammed with a radio you wanted.
Good that you got a nice meal and supported a good organization.
Sorry your fitbit is giving you problems.

Nas, your plantain receipe sounds delicious. Thank you for sharing it.

Karen, I think that as we grow older we find we have chronic pain, perhaps not all the time but enough to be miserable much of the time.
Yes, older people can be used by God. There is a story about a bedridden lady who prayed for members of her church and others who needed help and encouragement. Many of her prayers were answered.

Tee, thank your for your encouragement.
We have a few Salvation Army Kettles out this year but not like before.
I usually peel my bananas and would the plantains before I froze them. Trying to peel frozen ones would be terrible.
Glad you got the envelopes and tape for mailing.
You have given a very good reason to stay where you live even with TT.

I just checked for the Christmas “star” that everyone is talking about and could see the moon but no other stars at this time because of clouds.
I did make it to church this morning and spoke to the congregation about wearing masks so I could attend. Hopefully they will remember next time we meet.

Jane...Sending energy for you to shop for presents. Maybe what to buy will come to you in a dream.

Thelma...Great the cookies were the best you've made. I laughed at pink and green icing being Easter instead of Christmas. The same thing happened to me when I used butter instead of margarine in crust and cookies. I need a new car but refuse to buy since only have Siruis which I can't afford. A car without regular radio won't do me any good. I hope lion's dinner was good. What did they bring? Donations are down for a lot of organizations. YMCA lost all their members fee that pays for senior wheels on meals, salaries, repairs etc. Salvation Army red kettles aren't out this year. Fewer people store shopping and lots of bargains.

Nasfkab...Your recipe sounds delicious. Do you use green or yellow plantains? Frozen cooked plantain is sold here. I had to use green plantains for squash soup. They were awful to peel. Took a week for my hands to return to normal, but the soup was so delicious people asked for recipe.

Karen.....Great that the tens machine and lidocaine rub works. Some of my family members were young, foolish and paying the price now. By the time we realize elders know things we are middle age.

Nasfkab... People whether young or old learn from experience not from advice.

The steroid and Advil worked so well I was pain free. I woke early and feeling good. Took med, ate breakfast and couldn't stop sneezing, etc. I ended up taking allergy medication. I planned to go to store after breakfast, but gym buddy that has nothing to do called and had verbal diaherra. So, I didn't get out until lunchtime. No lines outside stores when I arrived which was good. There were lines when I exited. Phew! I had to go to three stores for envelopes. No envelopes, scotch tape, etc. at first two. The first store shelves were unusually empty. I remembered seeing envelopes I needed at card store I went to yesterday and went back there. Sure enough they had tape and envelopes. I am putting each kid's card in manila envelope so postal employees don't know it is Xmas and gift card since they have been stolen in the past.

One gift card to buy and I will be done. My boss is having an office lunch for us on Tuesday. I haven't wanted to celebrate the last two years but too chicken to say so. Last year boss's daughter told her we didn't want to celebrate but boss insisted and we went along.

The woman whose husband died was outside my apt complex with two male tenants when I returned home. Her car battery was dead. Both men tried jump starting her hybrid car. It didn't work. AAA was called. Tenants help each other in my complex is a blessing and reason I won't move.

I am going to shower and climb into bed to read. I have a lot of chores and laundry to do tomorrow.

The cold seems to increase my pain, too. I am using my Tens unit & also like the lidocaine rub. People without chronic pain issues do not realize how fortunate they are. I use to be one of those people so I speak from experience.

I have been reading how several older people were used by God in the scriptures. We can still be a blessing to others. I needed that reminder so sharing it in case others are forgetting, too.

Refinishing furniture got my attention! I used to refinish pieces but that was before "Arther" decided to make fingers too achy to enjoy. They are lovely pieces and being heirlooms makes it even more special. So you like being a polar bear?? BRRRR, I can't wait for winter (which is officially here 21st) to be over and spring to sprung on us
The payback remark got a chuckle out of me...."What goes around, comes around they say"
Yesterday was almost a disaster but ended up pretty good. Day before I made up 2 batches of cookies and put in fridge in basement to do yesterday....have done that over the years so as to not stop and mix and bake, then mix and bake....some batter's call to chill anyway. Got some laundry done first, set up tables and cooling racks and got cookie dough out of fridge....tried to dip out and rock hard!!!!! I am thinking maybe it froze in area I put so let sit awhile....went back and could not even get dough out of bowl!! I finally dipped some out but hand was hurting big time....put them in oven and baked fine....so my mind going everywhere to figure out why when I looked to see what kind of butter I used. Weeks ago some were on sale so bought some.....it is butter with real cream....problem solved! Well hands still hurt but know what the problem was....but girls....they are the best tasting cookies I ever made!!! So with sugar cookies I have never decorated with icing but gave it a try....not enough dye to make a bright red or a green so I have pastel pink and green. Told DH when he came in we are skipping Christmas and going into Easter... emoticon I always put Christmas music on CD player so I felt a bit of Christmas spirit yesterday....but tired and achy last night
I think I was being led into a scam when I chatted on FB under the Siruis Radio site. We dropped our radio in vehicle due to not being used and prices went up. I wanted the home radio only and told years ago had to have vehicle account to have that also. In chat told how disappointed I was to not get and was told it could be arranged....went all thru about could send me free radio....well that is what internet site said BUT along with vehicle on it also....yesterday got an email that just made me think they were trying way too hard for this to happen then told me radio thought to be free had to have postage so he could call me to get credit card number emoticon emoticon emoticon is what Came thru my head....music ain't worth all that mess....so whether or not it was legit I don't know but something inside just does not feel right
Today the Lions holding a community dinner. Meal is free and a gift from the organization. You had to call in to give name and how many and meal to be brought out to you. Never done this before but DH was interested this year. So will put a donation in a card and drop off when they bring meal out.....meal was always held at the Legion and told it was a very nice get together for the community......organizations have been hit hard with them not able to hold their regular fund raisers. I think a lot of the small business will be closing up from all this mess. One young fella that does flowers for occasions has talent you would not believe in designing but looks like he and others will go under. Seen on FB where he had 50% off Christmas items...I wanted to get Christmas flag but don't want to go into stores any more than I have to
I checked my Fitbit after supper dishes as I thought going back and forth from oven to patio should give me some good steps....I thought it was over 8400 but when I took it off last night it was around 7800....I really need to get my eyes checked or just get some much needed rest emoticon
I hope we hear from Sharon soon

Nas, you may have to check that again if you are not getting notices. Hope it is fixed permanently though.
A family not cooking for three days really needs friends and neighbors to step in and help.

Thelma, I am glad you did not pick up a shovel. Do be careful.
Sorry you had trouble trying to do some baking. If they turn out good the it will be worth it.
Hope your DIL can set up the Ipad for you.
One of my BF called today from Tennessee. She talks a mile a minute so I understand about your DIL.
Doctors do not realize that patients have lives besides sitting in their offices. To tell her one thing and then change it is terrible.
I am sorry your sister’s MIL was returned to the nursing home.
Enjoy your baking.

Debbie, what lovely furniture! Glad you can restore them to their old glory.
Glad you enjoy the cold weather. Show us a picture of the ladder shelf before you fill it with books.

Roz, yes, Christmas will be here and gone before we know it.
Sorry about your mixer. Hope you can get it fixed or get a new one.
Good to hear your covid cases have gone down.
It is interesting how you prepare plantain. I know some cook the green ones.
I think a lot of things that are usually brought in for the holidays did not come this year.

Karen, good to hear there was not a spike of covid cases after Thanksgiving. Guam did not have a spike either.

Tee, I have not liked this bank and now like it even less when they do not respond.
If they cannot cook and you have given them food before it would be acceptable to take something over to them. Don’t go in but give it at the door.
Glad you got pt and the water was warm. I am so sorry you are having so much trouble with your knees. I remember what I went through in March and April.
Perhaps TT will understand what real noise is when the handyman is finally finished.
The family of the man who died on the plane should be persecuted for getting on the flight with him and endangering all those people.

I was going to do some Christmas shopping today but never made it out. My two younger GD’s like to draw and paint so I am going to get some art supplies for them. I have done this in the past but art supplies need to be replenished often.
I need to get something for my older GD’s and their significant others… I will get my GGD art supplies also.
Not sure what to get my son and DIL.
I know I am one of those people who always do things at the last minute when it comes to shopping.

Have a great day!

Jane

Jane...Sorry you waited two days for bank to call. It sounds like phishing. Just delete. I get them from banks I don't have accounts with.

Nasfkab...Glad you fixed Spark account. They are vegetarians. Manager posted a letter to respect their privacy and not disturb them until 12/20. I guess I will just send them a condolence card.

Thelma....I never heard of that saying. I call it verbal diherra. Tree cameras are interesting. Sorry about cookie making problems. Glad you got iPad. My sister sent me her old one. I told her to have store delete all her information before sending it to me. I set up pad without a problem and didn't have directions. Sorry your sister's treatment is delayed.

Debbie...Wow! Cold weather is your friend. Your family's furniture looks nice. Decorating your new home with heirlooms makes them extra special.

Roz...Thanks for the reminder. I woke to the fact yesterday playing catch up. Sorry about your mixer. I guess you will be making cookies this week. The fresher the better. Glad your corvid cases decreased. How was luncheon with daughter's family? I tried heat at night and worse in the morning.

Karen....Glad your corvid cases are down. I saw on the news that a nursing home in your area went on lockdown during pandemic. The employees left their family to live in the home and no cases there.

It was 50 this morning. Not pool weather, but I went anyway. Pool was warm but air was cold. Even sheet towel around me didn't stop shivering. My knees started arching as soon as weights were put on ankles. I took them off to exercise in shallow end. Noticed my knees feel better when I walk backwards and sideways. I put lidocaine on knees, etc. when I dried off since I had to go to Costco for rx and other errands.

Costco cement floor and my joints don't mix. I waited 20 minutes in line to pay for rx and had terrible leg pain. Pain usually subsides when I sit in car. So felt going to card store for kids cards would be okay. I was in so much pain upon exiting card store, I had to take steriod and Advil to get any relief. I was going to abandon going to Trader Joe but didn't since I needed gift card to send to youngest DD. There was a long line to get into store. Luckily me and another handicapped woman that parked at entrance were allowed to enter store without waiting. Check out lines were slow and long, and pain flared again. I am surprised I was able to make it upstairs when I got home. Icing knees did nothing. I got relief by putting ice on sciatic nerve. Guess I will bite bullet, see rheumy and ask for pain management referral so I can have epidural injections next year.

Next year sounds so far away. Yet it is just around the corner. I have a pool pt session on Monday. Then facility will be closed until Jan 4th. Two weeks without pt and I will be a basket case.

TT is getting what she deserves. The handyman has been buzz sawing in front of her apt for a few days. Looks like there will be more of the same since he didn't take down his table. Payback!

16,500 new cases with 100 deaths today. Traffic is bad and people aren't staying home. Moderna vaccine was approved here. We will get that vaccine on Monday. A Florida resident that tested positive with symptoms boarded United plane TO Los Angeles. He died on the plane. Fellow passenger heard his wife tell paramedics he tested positive and had breathing problems, etc. Airline told passengers man died from heart attack. Couple that overheard wife notified CDC and passengers tested and quarantined.

I am pretty sure my pain is related to weather. Cold today and I hurt. I don't hurt when it is hotter. Supposed to be warmer this weekend with 80 degree for Xmas.

DEBBIE. ..Those furniture pieces are lovely.

Virus cases in my county are down. I think the Thanksgiving spike in Ohio did not happen. That is good news.

Hoping Sharon is doing okay.

This time next week it will be Christmas Day. Hope everyone is keeping well. warm and safe.
I was hoping to bake since a few days ago but only to discover that the plug to my mixer is broken, I only use that mixer at Christmas time and i forgot all about it anyway should get it fixed by Sunday .

Here our covid cases are going down, but all the protocols are to be observed over Christmas, but of course there are going to be family gatherings. No parties are allowed or crowds any where.

I miss going shopping in the stores for Christmas and I don't have a credit card to shop on line but I did get some presents at a couple of local stores.
I'm oldfashioned and loved sending actual Christmas cards but this year it's virtual.

Jane-----I love plantains when ripe .I usually boil it .We don't eat it raw .It's lovely when sliced and fried too.

Tee---Those are still very high amount of Covid cases in your state, I know you'll be careful.
How about applying some warmth to your aching knees when it gets cold at nights? Beautiful Christmas Cactus. Haven't seen much poinsettias around this year . guess because of Covid many were not imported.

Thelma-----Hope your sister gets some pain relief

Debbie----Lovely job with the furniture

Stay safe everyone,
Much love,
Roz.

Good Morning.....
I have been very busy this week and really enjoying the colder weather. I'm a bear in reverse, I hibernate during hot weather and climb out of my cave when it gets cold. I have been refinishing some of our old pieces of furniture that belonged to my family for years..... I adore these pieces and wanted them to grace my bedroom here in the new house.

I have several other small projects to work on soon and I am truly excited!

it's been forever since I have felt energetic and accomplished!

Moving the white table into my room today and I am so excited! I have had 2 small boxes of books and bibles just waiting for a place to rest. DH trimmed the lower legs of my dad's 5 foot wooden ladder that I watched him use my whole life. I have no idea of it's age but it will now become a ladder shelf in the corner of my room. I will be painting the frame of my picture today to match the desk and table......
I'm telling ya, cold weather is my friend!

Tee, did not even pick up shovel yesterday. I did get out to retrieve so SD cards from our tree camera's...we can see what goes on with animals when they travel thru our area. We have deer, rabbit, raccoons, SKUNKS, possum, and of course we did pick up on a bear going thru this fall on the camera's You'd be surprised what all goes on in the dark while you sleep...LOL
I did try to mix up some cookie dough to bake today. Nearly had a melt down on that one. I have been checking glucose while on this prednisone and it is in high range which is to be expected...and with my already dry eyes makes vision not the greatest so reading ingredients with eyes and my anxiety unfortunately in high range it was like reading a Dick & Jane book in elementary school. I read and reread and still forgot by time got to mixer...would have had a melt down right there but wanted to get something mixed up....took me all day to just mix up 2 batches and ran out of cream of tartar or would have tried another. So have 2 batches to try to NOT mess up today. DH offered to help and in me head I could see WW3 going on when he it "telling me" how to bake cookies while doing them so told him I think he needs to work on getting snow removed from in front of wood shed ...Nice to offer...BUT!
I broke down and sent of Ipad...got it yesterday....now with my frame of mind of late and with yesterday's episode I just put it under tree...not even sure how to set it up....should have sent for manual to it and had hoped DIL would help but then again with this virus not sure she is comfy with doing so....snd then again I love her dearly but think she was inoculated with record player needle....if you have not ever heard that saying it means she never shuts up...LOL She talks faster than this brain can take in and DS actually has to step in and tell her either to slow down or when on his last nerve to just be quiet.
The snow globe is beautiful....DS & DIL gave me one for Mother's Day that has a cardinal inside...it was Christmasy but I displayed it then and there now for holiday's.. So wonderful of you to think of your grieving neighbors. Wonder where you TT was all along when she was quiet? Well at least she was quiet that long
My Sister can't a break. Went clear down there to see Dr ..greeted with about 15 pages to fill out (what happened to transfers online from her other Dr's??) and THEN he told her she had to be off blood thinner for a week!!! So now will go down 24th to get one...She is worn out physically & mentally. She did tell me the hospital the other night returned her MIL to nursing home with pneumonia. When I asked how she was she said she was swinging arms when they tried to give IV for dehydration.....So she is a fighter! She fights them on her meds all the time so they don't push it .
Jane there are so many phishing scams going on out there especially with this Pandemic. I block any scam calls on phone but they call back from a different number thru out the day from another number. I "think" my phone will block 500 calls and I have had to go back to unblock calls several times to make room for the current ones....so aggravating!
Well hopefully today goes smoother with the baking than did with mixing.....I am either low or out of ingredients to start over
