Wow two months with Spark team. I have managed to lose 25 pounds since joining. I have started doing step aerobics, and I really like it. Congratulations to everybody on your success.

Good afternoon everybody.
It has been quite the busy morning so far. I was up at 7:00 this morning, ate my breakfast, and then went and got a few things for dinner tonight, went exercising, and now I am getting ready to fix lunch. Then it is off to the medical supply store to buy a binder, to help my hernia, come home, and fix dinner, do dishes, bather the boys, and sweep and mop my kitchen tonight.
Our friends from Portland will be here this evening as well. The next three days are going to be busy.
I have a bridal shower this evening, Friday we are going out to the lake, and Saturday we have a wedding that we will be attending. I will try and be here when I can through the next three days.
Have a happy day, and keep Sparkin. Everybody here is just amazing.
I want to lose 10 pounds this coming month. I have also started to step areobics, using the wii fit. My goal for that is to be able to do up to an hour by the end of the month. I started out at 30 minutes, and each week, I will add another 10 minutes.

Happy two month anniversary to us! So far I've increased my strength, lifting 15# dumbbells instead of 5#ers. Can now do 15 big boy push-ups - the last 3 aren't pretty, but they are push-ups! emoticon
Have lost a little over 11 pounds; 3 more to reach my initial goal. I haven't eaten any candy since 6/30 - still craving it at times but I'm a candy-holic "one is too many and 100 aren't enough" I feel good!

Today is the second month isn't it? I have lost a bit more than 10 lbs but I kinda fell off the wagon for about 3 weeks there. I came back strong and I am happy about it.

I have lost 15 pounds in the time that I've been on Sparkpeople, and it feels great! Lately, I have been struggling a bit to stay focused on the goal, and I can see the results when I get on the scale and for the first time in a month it's stopped moving...frustrating! But all I can do is dust myself off and keep trying, stay positive, and push harder until that scale gets moving down once again!

Congrats to everyone on this thread that has been working so hard and seeing results...you're amazing! Seeing other people do it is inspiring, because it keeps bringing back to me the idea that it IS possible when you don't give up!

My pants are a size smaller!

I don't win races, but I always cross the finish line. I'm not fast, but I try my best to become faster. I don't have sports endorsements or earn a paycheck, but that doesn't stop me from running. My pace does not define me. Just because "professional" does not precede "athlete" in describing me doesn't make my running any less valuable. I am an everyday athlete; leading a normal life, but with big goals and dreams.

I have lost very little so far. I am so easily distracted, and the variety of SP provided me yet another way to distract myself instead of heading to the gym.

But now I'm in gear again. I set a personal goal to complete my workout before I logging in to SP. I plan to spend more time planning my week's eating so I won't be "surprised" that I ate more than I thought.

This is a wonderful website. I just remind myself that the exercise and nutrition aspects are what count the most.

I haven't posted here for awhile, but in the month of joining SparkPeople. I have lost 20 pounds, have more energy, and I am starting to get out more and enjoy life. I am feeling truly blessed, for all the God has given me.
This week has not been good, husband has been out of town, my gall bladder and hernia keep flaring up. I take it one day at a time. Have a great week.

Wow, I feel like the previous post. I haven't been on the site too much. I find myself getting on here and going through WAY too much. I get a headache sitting at the computer too long. BUT, I have been logging my food and exercise in a notebook. It greatly helps and I have lost 10# in the past 5 weeks!! The site has great info, but almost too much for me. It's overwhelming sometimes!

Keep at it my fellow teammates! And goodluck!!

It has been 1 month already and what a great month it has been!

I have not been on here as much as I was in the beginning, but that was something that I realized I needed to change. I realized that the more time I spent logging food and reading through blogs and articles, the more time I would multitask on the internet, shopping, reading, etc. I was spending WAY too much time sitting on my butt on the computer. So I said enough! The only thing I could do on the computer was check my email and reply a couple only, 3 times a day. My nutrition log was consistent from the day I started, I knew what foods would put me over my calories so I was good there.

Since getting off the computer, I have started going to the pool and swimming and playing with my girls for 2-5 hours, then at night I alternate days with my Wii Active (mainly for strength exercises) and walking/running on the treadmill for an hour. Yes, I said it, running!! I never in my life thought I would be running. Granted it is not fast but I can do it!

I have lost 7 lbs. so far and a couple of inches everywhere! I am so happy and proud of myself.

Overall as a team it sounds like we've all done a great job! And as long as we keep it up and are getting healthier, that's all that counts. Great job to everyone and let's keep moving!

- lost 8.5 pounds!

I am so excited to see what the next 30 days will bring! emoticon

*** Edited to add: I weighed the day after I posted this and the scale went down! I have officially lost 10 pounds my first month! WooHoo!!!

Hi everyone! Can't believe it's been a month. Well, I've lost about 4 lb and begun exercising again. Only thing is, I was a bit stupid at a child's birthday party the other day and injured my leg. So no exercise for the moment. But I am keeping to 1500 calories and drinking more water. Thanks SP for all the help and advice regarding the injury. Good luck to everyone. Bye!!!

Thank you for keeping track of the June 2--- class. I feel like I have accomplished a lot via this site. I am conscious of what I put in my mouth, I exercise everyday and I make adjustments. I am one of those people that hasn't lost much, I vacillate from 1.5 to 3 pounds lost. But I'm doing things I wouldn't have done before, tonight I got in 20 minutes on the elliptical after 9:00 and ate my apple to help with my carbs. I am noticing little changes like that. If I can just keep it up, I know next month will show a better loss. Keep up the good work and remember little accomplishments will eventually become bigger ones. And maybe we will someday be one of those awesome people that share their success here.

I want to say I'm let down because I haven't lost any weight, but I can fit into 2 pairs of jeans that were too tight. More than anything I'm proud because, I found my town on sparkteams, and I ranked the most tracked exercise minutes! So I'm real proud of myself.

I like everyones posts, and keep up the good work everybody! emoticon

Victories where to start:
Water intake went from 6 glasses to 10 glasses
Work outs went from 2 days to 6 days
Tracked my calories and fitness for 30days
I really despise scales and I try my best to stay away. I do my weigh ins once a month. As of 07/21 I was down 11 lbs. I know I may have lost a few more but will not weigh in until 08/18. Stay tuned!!!

I just want to say to anybody that's actually lost weight while doing this, YOU SHOULD BE PROUD. People upset that they didnt lose the 2lbs every week, or that you have only lost 6lbs. Losing 2lbs a week is EXTREMELY difficult, so if you have lost as much as 4,5 or 6lbs, you should be rejoiced!! It's been a month for me on sparks, but actually 9 weeks of working out and eating right and FINALLY this week I have lost 2lbs. This is the FIRST week Ive seen a change in my weight for the better...So, be proud sparkers!!! Keep with it and it will come off. Especially for those out there with less to lose, just KEEP GOING. Sometimes it will take a LOT longer to see the results, but eventually you will

I have not reached my goal of hitting 240 lbs but i realize that i i have reached alot of goals in getting stronger and alot more muscle. I feel like my body fat has gone down and that if i do positive things every day that i will reach my goal eventually. I don't know how long it is going to be, but i have to keep trying. I am motivated by every one here losing weight and the fact that i want to better myself. I have been lifting weights every day and not lost a lb in 3 months, i definately need to include more cardio and be stricter on my diet. Best wishes to all that are trying to lose stubborn weight that will come off with perseverence and hard work.

Congrats to all the sparkies! I felt inspired to read about your results. I am trying to define success as tracking what I eat and keeping a positive attitude as I am not allowed to exercise at all right now..I am trying to mend a back injury but recently found out from a nutritionist to try and cut my caloric intake by 500 cal. a day. I realized by tracking how pain affected my eating habits and now try to eat a breakfast daily...that is a huge change for me. I feel like I am eating more than I have in the past three years following this plan even cutting the calories; my 'other' eating style was to not eat until mid dayish or dinner when I was starved and ate to many calories. I don't eat fast food or 'bad' food - too many food allergies for that - i am hopeful that by eating regular meals i will eventually lose the weight i've gained from this back injury. I get alot of support just reading about other individuals successes! Yea Team!

I love that last line of Jianabond "No sacrifices, just choices." Yes. It feels that way to me too. I lost only one half pound this week, but i am still grateful because that makes 6 and 1/2 pounds in a month and i like the choices i am making.
We were visiting friends for dinner the other night and they brought out blue berries, sliced mango, Greek yogurt and two flavors of Haagen Daaz ice cream. I was able to use y resistance muscle and not suffer at having the yogurt with my fruit and none of the ice cream. I think I may be getting new eating habits. Hooray!!

one month and I have gone from 281 to 274!!!! I have realized in a month that i am a FAST FOOD JUNKY, not because I can but because I live america where convience is key... However I have learned to control what goes in my body and have adapted by having nutrition guides and making better, healthier choices and still have the convience of grab and go. I am doing well, and know there are ways to go about with out fast food, I eat more ooften it is fantastic to know i have made a difference in the little steps I have made. I am slightly dissapointed that I am unable to login as much as I would like but, I still track what calories Ive eaten and make an effort everyday to continue on this path and when I able to get online I do. Thanks SPARKPEOPLE for the tools to be a healthier ME! No sacrifices just choices.

I have put a new SPARK in my diet!

Thanks so much for the explanation about HIIT. I think I will try some modified version of that. I think that at my age, 70, modifications are necessary. but I am an active tennis player and I work out at the gym, so I think I can find ways to incorporate the concept. i appreciate your prompt response.

I've lost 4 lbs since I started, which is great for me. I love the fitness calculator telling me how many calories I need to burn off to reach my goal (and "reminding" me to do it!). I'm extremely pleased with SP so far and really looking forward to actually getting to goal this time.

HIIT is high intensity interval training. It involves going ALL OUT for a minute, then recovering for about a minute or two. So, for me, I run around 8.5mph for a minute, walk for 1.5minutes and do it all over again. You literally can only do it for about 30 minutes if youre doing it right (it TIRES you out) and will help build your endurance, will aid you in burning calories AFTER your workout, best way to lose fat without losing lean muscle... There is a great article on sparkspeople about it. I dont have the link, but if you search the fitness articles it will be there!!

Wow, a month already! Unbelievable. I lost 3 pounds this month. My goal was to loose a pound a week, but after reading posts from people just like me I think 2 pounds a month is more realistic. So, I am thrilled with the weight lost so far.

Wow, a month already? There hasnt been ONE day in 30 days that I havent tracked what ive eaten/tracked exercise? WOW!! I've never stuck with recording stuff this long..
..Results? I'm down about 2Lbs. I think my measurements have changed, but I havent really been tracking as much. People say I look a LOT different. I dont have much to lose, but I was very flabby before. Now my body is much more tight.
...My best result? Running 30 minutes STRAIGHT. June 30th I was maybe running 4-5minutes straight at a time. What a GREAT accomplishment. It's only going to get better...
...Positives from sparkpeople? LOTS of articles. Ive learned SOO much about nutrition and other fitness tips. Articles are GREAT. The messageboards? AMAZING. SOO many great ideas from people. Ive learned SO much that I never even knew about. Found a great workout video (30 day shred)..Learned about HIIT (the best way to get results and fat loss with cardio)..And SUPPORT. So many great people on the boards. It feels SO good when people read your blogs and comment on your page.
...Everybody feel free to check out my spark page and add me. I LOVE to chat fitness and I think it's great we all pretty much started at the same time..
..And WOW!! Congrats to you all!!! A lot of you lost around 6lbs. THATS SO GREAT! Do you realize what an amazing accomplishment this is? Idk if you've ever seen what 6lbs of fat looks like (i saw it on a tv show once) but its a big difference. You all should be proud. All you who loss less than that, STILL CONGRATS!! You're still on spark and have probably had positive results in other areas (just like I have)..
..Remember, its all about PERSPECTIVE! The way you choose to view your journey is going to effect your results. Look at "slip ups" as learning experiences, set smaller goals, focus more on the positives than the negatives and it will be easier to keep pushing forwards!! :) :)

It does not seem possible that it has been a month but time passes so quickly as one gets older. At least that is the way it seems. I have lost 15 pounds since I started. emoticon Since I have lot to lose I am very happy. Congrats to everyone else.

I'm down about 2 pounds since July 6th. I would have like to have seen more of a loss, but I haven't been tracking as carefully as I should.

I'm down two pounds. I'm getting my water in well. I still see my weight fluctuate throughout the day by 2-4 pounds. Over the course of a week it seems to come back around, so I'm not sure what that's about. I am on day 2 of the 30 day shred. It's pretty tough and sweaty, but I'm enjoying it. Before I was doing more walking and strength training, so it hasn't been as painful jumping into the program.

The Sparkpeople is the most incredible site. I have advised my daughter to join. I log in daily; I have lost abt 3 #; I have lots of new recipes; I have read some very useful articles; I track my food; I love the reports; I have blogged with others which is always uplifting. I have watched the videos; Thank you so much for this wonderful program. I highly recommend to all to use and enjoy and lend so much help in the constant quest for information, encouragment, and battle with eating right, excercising, and maintaining a healthy lifestyle

Lost 2.5 pounds, not as much as I'd like, but I ran my first 5k last week, which I'm very happy with.

One month. So it has gone by fast and I have lost 3 lbs. Not a huge number but still I am learning to make positive changes that will lead to the big numbers. I am still motivated.

Well, how nice to hear about all of the different stories. I have lost 6 pounds and tomorrow is weigh in. I may or may not have lost another pound or half pound. I lost all 6 pounds in the first two weeks. the nutrition tracker has been great, but somehow the last two weeks have been a kind of plateau. That surprised me because I have been within the calorie limits and I have exercised. But perhaps it is because I have cut back on my tennis which was something I was doing 6 days a week. I have had knee and lower back problems but physical therapy has been very helpful and I am gradually getting back on the tennis court. I am also using the gym more. It is really helpful to hear about what other folks are doing. Some of you are so successful in the pounds off!!! Congratulations!!!!! But it seems that everyone is eating healthier and feeling better, me included. Thanks, Sparkers!!!!!

I just realized it was a month when i got this message .. wow that seemed to go by quickly.. Im doing the slim in 6 work out as well as charting everything I eat . for me charting has been key, I have lost7 lbs and I will have my dh help with with measurements in the next few days.. over all feeling great and still enthusiastic although of course would have liked to have lost more. I seem to eat on the very low end of my calories most days and one day a week I give myself a little more room to play but not going over board.. love this spark page thing .. I found it by accident but have been telling everyone I know.

1 month already?!? Wow!

I've lost 5 pounds and a couple of inches. I've not measured myself, but I know I've lost inches. I know this because I just bought some jeans a size smaller than what I would have gotten!!!

I've kept up with my water intake and use the nutrition tracker every day. I found out that I had been eating waaaaay to many calories before I started keeping track!

Exercise....hmmmmm....not doing to much there. Walking a little with the family, but nothing more than that. I am on a mini-vacay right now, but will be going home at the end of the week. That's when I will start really getting into the exercise!

I hope everyone is doing great!

Spark is amazing! I feel like I am actually having to be accountable now, I only weigh myself once a week and don't want to be disappointed so that keeps me from doing anything bad! I have been consistantly working out 6 times a week and have given up soda since the day I started and I cannot believe it has been a whole month! Now I just have to make it to the next one!

Hi all. Wow, 1 month anniversary eh!

I've lost about 6 lbs so far and I've found that drinking 8 cups of water really regulates my weight and stops it fluctuating 2-3 lbs on a daily basis.

It's the first "diet" I've ever been on and it's not really a diet to me, it's just that I've learned what's good and what's not and that's made a huge difference. Perhaps surprisingly, I don't have a big appetite anyway, so it's no big deal to eat more healthily.

Also, I've hit the gym 5 days a week every week so far and really gone for it at each session with weights and some serious cardio. I'm burning 500 calories or more 5-6 days per week. I got really sore knees from running so I've migrated to the eliptical cross trainer instead, which is more bang for your buck anyway. Other than that, if I can walk instead of drive I do.

I think small diet changes, more exercise and concentrating on your calorie differential is the key.

All the best to everyone!

Cheers
G

Hey everyone - 28 days for me. So far, 6 pounds lighter & significantly more in control of my eating. I've always been active, so I'm adding regular strength, core, and cardio workouts.

My goals are to lose 4# in August, do strength training 3x/wk and cardio/core 5x/wk. emoticon

I haven't weighed myself yet, I do know my measurements have changed. I am more conscience of what I am eating and feel better after exercising. I really enjoy this site and appreciate all the work that is involved in keeping this site. THANK YOU Sparkpeople.

One month Aninverary! Definitely has given me insight into my nutritional habits. I noticed I was taking in more cholesterol then I should daily and have been able to limit my cholesterol and keep with in range for 3 weeks. I have lost 8 pounds and have increased my fitness stamina and endurance. I occasionally crave something sweet towards the end of the day, but evaluate my daily intake and determine if I can snack that. I don't believe in deprivation, but do believe in moderation.

I lost 2 pounds. I wanted to say "only", but I resisted :). I had wanted to lose 5 by Aug. 3 (my birthday--I'll be 45), but 2 is better than nothing. I've 8 lbs to go to my next goal of losing 10 lbs by Oct. 10. I leave to go visit friends & family in Michigan, and then on to a mystery convention in Indianapolis, which is like a family reunion for me--lots of friends that I haven't seen in several years. I'd like to lose the weight in general, and to also fit into a better variety of clothes :).

So, onward! I've got exercise scheduled on my calendar over the next few weeks (right now, I'm only scheduling a few weeks at a time), and I'm continuing to watch what I eat. Stress is not helping, but I'm hoping I only have a few more weeks of total craziness--my stress has been showing itself with headaches, stomach aches, sometimes IBS symptoms & canker sores. Most of these are convenient excuse providers for not exercising--gotta get out of that mind-set--hmmm, another goal :)?

Let's keep it up, All!!! I'm glad to be here, and be a part of this group!!!
Patti

I started on July 3rd and though I haven't lost nearly as much weight as some on here (4 pounds as of last Friday), I have begun building really good habits, including daily exercise. I've definitely noticed changes in the way my body looks and feels, and in my endurance levels! I've also made progress towards a lot of my goals, like learning to love running, and eating less ice cream, and journaling daily. Thanks, SparkPeople! emoticon

Tomorrow will be 30 days! I haven't weighed myself (I do that at the Dr.'s every 3 months), but I feel better than I have for a long time.
