I am making sesame chicken in the croc pot. Something my entire family loves. We have guides tonight so i need to make sure we are fed and out the door as I am a leader.

I will have the chicken breast, mashed potatoes and gravy and corn that I didn't have a few weeks ago. Seems like my night cooking depends on how I am feeling by that time of the day. Night is my bad time.

Tonight is just pasta and ham casserole. It's fast. I hesitate to plan a dinner that takes hours this week hoping we'll be spending time completing a car purchase. I wonder if I'm jinxing myself by not planning for the worst.

Ropa Vieja means "old clothes" in Spanish. It's a stew with a little of everything in it. I have shredded beef, jicima, chayote, green beans, carrot, tomato, jalapeno, garlic, onion, and the last of the corn that I cut off the cob. It cooks for 2+ hours, and I'll serve it with flour tortillas.

Well, we went to the car dealership to buy the car the salesman had found for us, and it had just sold to someone else. He'll try again next week, this time we have a deposit down. We got home early enough for me to make Hot and Sour Soup.

Tonight I'll make Ropa Vieja. It takes about 3 hours. The Redskins are playing at 1, so I'll start cooking at about the start of the 4th quarter.

Sophie, I hate huge portions at restaurants, it's one of the reasons I don't eat out.

So we went to a BBQ place that was really good. I had pulled chicken chicken and DH had pulled heritage pork. It is Texas style and not cooked with the sauce. The sauces are served on the side. The only problem was the portions were huge. We have enough leftover potato salad and beans for two more dinners and meat for another dinner. They threw some extra pickles in for me. They were really good, and they make them. The owner/executive chef was a top chef finalist a number of years ago, Tiffani Fiason.

I have a book club tonight so I have little idea of what I will have for dinner. I am making a Hungarian cucumber salad. Not sure why it is Hungarian but that's what the recipe says. The book was set in Hungary so we try to have food somewhat themed.

I will have my Barbecued chicken dinner tonight. Last night I decided on fish, baked potato and sauteed green beans. I bought a chive plant last spring and put it in the garden and I chopped off some of it yesterday and found out it was a garlic flavored chive. It looks more like grass but it has a great flavor. I put it in some sour cream and served it over my potato.
