Another day at home for me! Norm had an eye exam at the VA this morning. His eyes are good and the prescription is the same but he is getting a new pair because the ones he has is getting scratched up. They also gave him some drops for his eyes as his allergies are bad this spring.

I am getting more comfortable with my Instant Pot. Today I made spaghetti with meat sauce. It was very good. So quick and only one pan to clean.

It has been overcast and rainy all day so nothing outside. In fact, we are back in the 50’s for the temps! I am looking forward to our driveway visits as WG mentioned.

WG - I love hearing about the grandkids. They have grown do much during the pandemic. They are becoming young adults already.

Hi Seesters. I'm taking a minute before I do some other things. It was a long weekend but fun. The grands are a great group although they are inclined to bore easily. Their mom tends to do the same thing. DIL's family all graduated from high school early rather than go through another year of the "same thing."

LG, so glad you got to watch Luke play. It is good to have a day off after you have bene working so much. I saw the picture of Carmen in her dress for prom. How nice that Brooke could come and see her off. I hope she had a great time.

SS, I'm glad you got to have a small outing. It is hard when the weather doesn't cooperate. I'm looking forward to your impromptu gatherings on your driveway. It is nice to see the neighbors and even nicer to feel safe again.

It was nice having the grands. One fixed the hair on Miss M's doll and braided it so the frizzies didn't show so much. I had knitted a doll dress and finished it on Friday afternoon. I put a zipper in the back which turned out nice and the girl has another piece of clothing for the doll. The Dragon mowed my lawn and helped pull hoses to the new sod all weekend. I miss that already. Cinderella and I had a couple of chats while I took her to dance. She had tryouts for the dance group at school as well. It was nice to be there for that. Princess Sofia and I had some nice times doing some other things. It was fun and we had a good visit. Their parents left me enough money to take them on vacation somewhere but we avoided that and stayed home. I do need to clean a bit after all that visiting, but it isn't bad.

I have gifts for the next two grands who have birthdays this month. SIL turns 40 the day before one of the birthdays, and I will have two more grand birthdays after that. It will be fun to see them. I did order some books for some of the kiddos. I need to get one for the 14 year old but her birthday is in a couple of weeks. Enterprise gave me his order a few weeks ago and I found something that he will like. The others are not as helpful.

Off to clean and take care of the house. I'm finishing up my fresh veggies today so I can take a break and do something else for a few days. Have a great day.

Just a relaxing Sunday here at our house. We grilled a steak and I made a salad to go with it. We watched a movie on Amazon Prime.

It is a beautiful sunny day with temps in the upper 70’s. However, it is very windy. Too windy to do anything outdoors.

Weve had a busy week...I took Thursday off for some blood work and doctor visit and Lukes golf match. Hes doing better!

Then Friday we visited nurseries for flowers for the gardens. Saturday was Carmens Prom and all the goings on there. Brooke came home from school to see Carmen but had car trouble about 15 miles from home. But all is well as Jason got it repaired and she will be heading back today.

I see my surgeon on Tuesday so another busy week. Also Ill be working from Wednesday thru Saturday. Another gal has to be off.

Sharon, thats a lot of money for a frig! My great big thing in my kitchen was $2500. And I thought that was a lot! But glad you got a new one.

Sorry about your COVID surge. Ours is going down every day. Our countys positivity rate is only 2%.

PJ, sorry about your pie...I hate when that happens.

WG, I just love hearing about your grandkids and family!

Good Morning!
It is sunny here today but only in the 50's. It would be wonderful except it's pretty windy.

If you remember, our refrigerator quit just before we left TX. We have been struggling ever since to find a replacement. No one has any in stock! Camping World will ship one to our home so we bit the bullet and ordered one. It is $2000 with frt chrgs but we don't have much choice. It hurt to order!!! Now we are playing the waiting game. I am just thankful Norm can put it in himself and save us that labor chrg which would be another $2000.

WG - good to hear about the J&J being good for senior citizens. When I expressed my concerns about it the pharmacist said it's my decision but if I was his Grandmother he would encourage me to get it. Our park is resuming Clubhouse activities next week so we'll see how that goes. Enjoy your rambunctious afternoon with the kids. These are the times they will remember when they are older.

PJ - I love you with short hair! It looks so good on you. It's been four weeks since my last cut. I'm due one day next week. Pecan pie is my favorite. Sorry yours didn't firm up. I would eat it in a bowl with a spoon if I had to.

We are about to run and do some errands and get groceries. It will be nice to get out and about for awhile.

Hi Seesters. It is sunny here and I'm getting ready for an onslaught of kiddos as I have the two biggest families coming after school. It will be wild here for an hour or so. They love getting together, so it isn't a problem. I do need to pick up one of the children, but it won't be a problem as there will be someone here by then.

PJ, sometimes you need to let things like fabric scraps percolate a bit before deciding what to do with them. It is one of those things I sometimes change my mind about several times. I love finding a piece of fabric I love and having to figure out what to do but it is true that it usually requires another purchase. It is a good grandma who takes care of all the children when giving a gift to one. I love disappearing nine patch quilts. They are interesting to make and see. It will be fun for you. How are you liking your featherweight? I really like sewing on my larger machine most of the time although I enjoy it even more since I put an LED strip in the throat.

Sorry the pecan pie didn't work out.

SS, it has to be hard feeling good and knowing that the virus is going nuts where you are. It makes it harder to have activities and go places although you should be very safe. The J&J vaccine is super helpful for the senior citizens. It has to give you confidence.

LG, hope you got something done with your rainy day. I like to bake on my rainy days or sew. Depends on my mood but sewing has been healthier for me this year. I don't usually do block swaps but it seemed like a fun one and I'm in a place it will be fun.

Tammy, enjoy your date. A younger man needs to play ball with his favorite lady. I'm so glad he enjoys you and you have a good relationship. Hope Joe got done with his errands and you don't have a problem with your vaccine.

Time to start the after school fun. I have a two page list of the times the kids have to be places and what they need to do this weekend. It will be fun. They are good kids and I enjoy them. Have a great day.

Went to exercise yesterday after waking up at 3am yesterday morning and couldn't get back to sleep. So I scrubbed all the floors. Slept really good last night but I am just so tired today. I hate feeling that way. I am in my she cave now and will be cutting out squares for a disappearing 9 patch quilt. I have sorted and put away all my scraps it just wasn't working for me right now to figure out what to do with them.

Got a haircut on Tuesday back to my short style again. And it feels so much better. Then went to Joanns and bought a couple of small toys on sale just in case we are lucky enough to see the grands. I have a 1st birthday baby gift for Crosby and didn't want Nash to feel left out. And had made Jillian the doll sleeping bag so picked up a little gift for Jackson so he wouldn't feel left out. Now to see if we can see them again soon.

Went and visited Chris and TT yesterday afternoon. They are doing good.

I will get out tomorrow for groceries and want to look around in hobby lobby. I want to get more of their Sewology thread as it seems to work really well in my Janome machine for piecing.

Tammy love your idea of dating a younger man. Have fun.

LG I made Frank a pecan pie over the weekend the crust was great this time (since I did it correctly) but the pie wouldn't firm up. It is now in the freezer he will cut a piece and eat it with a spoon whenever he wants some.

WG I see you are keeping busy sewing too. One of these days I'll get back to the scraps and by then I will have even more scraps. Seems my stash continues to grow as the last purchase I made I bought some just because I liked the material with no pattern in mind. I have found a pattern now but not all the material I need to go into it.

LG - I envy you getting rain! Everything is so dry here for spring. It's overcast and spitting a little rain here but we're hoping it rains harder later today.

Tammy - I am glad you can spend time with your GS again! MI is still so locked down it is ridiculous. All the restrictions and we are still not gaining on Covid. Our state is still surging.

So, I am off to another boring day! Nothing on our agenda. Difficult to work outside so Norm is watching TV for now while I'm on my computer. There is good news from our Manager. They are going to resume Clubhouse activities next week! That will help! I haven't heard if the pool will be opened on time, usually the end of May.

Hey, gals!

Tammy, dating a younger man!! emoticon And I bet hes as cute as they come! Doesnt it feel so good to get something accomplished?

WG, glad you got your blocks done. Its sort of funny...Ive not joined a quilt club around here (there about 4) because I hate doing challenges like that. A table runner is always fun.

SS, I hear you about boring days. I think today might just be one here.

Its pouring rain here with no let up in sight. Luke is supposed to have a golf match today but I cant imagine with all this rain.

Hi, Seesters!

I have another date with a younger man on Saturday emoticon I bet we play ball. LOL

Today is my second shingrex vaccine. That should be all for a while. Joe is doing some errands. It is so nice to be out and about.

I sewed on the first border of my purple patchwork quilt yesterday. Perhaps another one today. I'm glad to have made some progress, however small.

Lots of rain yesterday. We didn't have the storms nor the flooding a lot of folks had. We used to go to the state park - Roaring River State Park - that you may have seen on the news with the flooding. I'm wondering if there may have been a small tornado south of the Branson area with what I was hearing.

Kind of a boring day. I slept in then spent most of the day cleaning. I washed and waxed the bathroom floors. Norm spent all day working in the yard.

I am glad you could get your sewing done WG. If there ever is an end!

Hi Seesters. Finished the last block and all are pressed. I need to trim them and will mail them off tomorrow. I'll take a photo before sending them off but will get the same number in return so it isn't a big deal. I'll make something with them. I have plans to use some for a table runner but may make that one out of mask fabric. 2 inch squares are easier to find in my leftover fabric and I can make some the kids will remember. If I don't do that, I'll do something with the mask fabric so the kids can have a memory and I can too.

Now I need to do laundry and some other things. Always something.

SS, glad you got to attend a family party. Sounds like they had a lot of fun.

Off to move sprinklers on the new lawn. Have a great day.

Good Evening!
I had a dental appointment first thing this morning for cleaning and check up. All is good. Unfortunately, every time they work on my teeth, I get a headache. So I was pretty inactive today.

It was a fun gathering with the Price family yesterday. After dinner, the kids colored eggs and then they had an Easter Egg hunt with plastic eggs already hidden. Some had candy, some has money in them. The kids really had fun.

LG - I am glad you could have the Festival this year. I know just how good the pies are so I am pretty sure you have mostly return customers.

WG - I hope you eventually came come out of your sewing room!

Tammy - I am sure you were tired but content after the day with your little buddy.

Hi Seesters. I'm taking one more minute before going into the sewing room to not return until I have a handle on the squares. They are 51 pieces of fabric each but they are cute when they are done. Not gorgeous but cute.

LG, I'm glad you got to have Sassafras Days again. I'm sure everyone missed it last year. So glad the pies sold well. Hopefully you can keep things going for a while. Enjoy plant shopping.

SS, I love the idea of Norm on his riding mower. I'm sure he enjoys it. I hope your outing with your friends was a good one. It's nice that you can see others and enjoy their company. I still see the reports of the virus being hard where you are. How nice that DGS got his house and has a new place for the new baby.

So glad the growth on your neck was not a problem and your worries are over in that area. Hope your neck starts to feel better soon.

PJ, glad you got your second vaccine. I'm sure you have plenty to do and with Frank not 100%, it is a lot for you to do. I'm glad rewrapping his wounds helped him sleep better. Ii hate it when a haircut doesn't work out. Hopefully your next one will be better.

Hope you have fun with your new fabric and can make something of the scraps you have as well.

Tammy, so glad you got good time with DGS. It has to be a great feeling to have him want to be with you after all this time. It is fun that you got to do the things he wanted to do and had good time together. It is so nice that you can make some plans for the holiday coming up.

I'm going to get back to sewing. I have to get 8 of these squares in the mail this week and want to get them done so I can take a picture before sending them on. It is fun to exchange squares so I can have a variety and enjoy them.

Have a great day.

Well, the Sassafras festival is over for another year. I didnt do as much this year because of my hip surgery. But working the weekend was enough. We had made 700 bottom crusts and by Saturday at 4 pm they were gone and so was most of the fruit. So a very successful festival.

Im getting a manicure today and then going to the greenhouse for my plants.

Enjoy your day!

Good Afternoon
We are on our way to a family get together, just not our family. Ron and Diane’s family always includes us. We have been friends for so many years, they feel like family! Everyone has had Covid and been vaccinated so it should be fine.

Still waiting for answers on our MH fridge. I just want Norm to go buy one and put it in. We will get no compensation so why all this dinking around.

It’s still quite cold today but looking ahead, it will be warming up nicely.

PJ - I hope with less wrappings, Frank can get better rest.

Norm mowed our yard yesterday with his new rider mower and he’s pretty happy with it.

Hi, Seesters!

We just watched a bird dive-bomb a squirrel, protecting a nest, I would guess.

I had the BEST day yesterday with my little buddy. "Grandma, play ball?" So we played plastic t-ball. "Grandma, play cars?" So we raced cars on the race track. Over and over, but that's quite okay. I'm that good kind of tired today.

We have plans to spend time in Branson with Joe's daughters the weekend before Memorial Day. It's time. I think there are alr day plans for us to go see "Jesus" at the Sight and Sound theatre, with the stipulation of an outside seat for Joe, to help with his knee, getting around, etc.

I did buy my white fabric so I hope to get borders on a quilt with it and at least one more color soon.

We got our 2nd vaccine on Friday (Phizer) and a few hours after getting home my energy was gone and finally this morning I feel normal again. But so glad were are fully vaccinated now.

I'm still looking at all my fabric scraps trying to figure out how to start a small quilt with them but yesterday was no day to do anything. I got out Thursday and went to one of my favorite local quilt shops and yep you guessed it bought material for another quilt plus. I now have the main materials for 4 quilts. I think I can stay busy.

We unwrapped Frank's arm yesterday evening still has bandages on but we did wrap his elbow up again just with not as much padding and he was able to sleep better.

Our weather is supposed to be windy but warm for 2 more days so I am hoping I can get out and plant the annuals I bought last week. I did get the boston ferns set up on the porch. Looks like it will be time for me to mow again if it is dry enough.

I got really upset with my hair and moved my appt up from May 4 to next week. Going to get it cut shorter again.

Hi Seesters. It is quiet but that is normal. Yesterday there was a small tractor working on the neighbor's greenhouse. It is going to be as large as most homes here. The backhoe thing sounded normal but the smaller tractor sounded like a donkey braying. it was quite funny to hear. The neighbors have been playing tennis most evenings until ten or so. It is nice to walk through the house without having to turn on a light.

Sharon, I'm sorry you have the worry about your skin problem. Hopefully you will hear good news soon. It seems like anything you have to cover because it looks strange is problematic. I love using my instant pot. It has been such fun. I do agree that it is big and takes up space so I keep it in a closet when not using it. The box, however, is on its last legs so I'm probably going to have to find a place elsewhere for it. Enjoy being quiet for the next few days.

PJ, most quilters cut their scraps into usable squares of 2, 4, 5 inches or even larger. Anything they can save as a bigger amount is good. The smaller squares are then put in a bag or bin for later use. You never know when you will find a project that will need a smaller square of something.

I'm glad Frank did well and the nerve didn't need to be moved. Hopefully his recovery will be fast and he will feel better soon.

LG, glad you are back to cleaning out and taking care of things. I hope you make more progress next day you get to the sewing room. Hope you enjoy your work days and get around without pain.

Tammy, I'm glad you are getting out a bit more. It feels good to be safer, doesn't it? I'm glad you are there for DD but I don't think kids listen to us as much as we think they should. My kids will look at me with that vacant look so I know their minds are elsewhere and they don't really want to hear my advice. Unless they want "Dr Mom" and I have opinions then.

I started watching the Crown as well. I watched a couple of episodes but am also binge watching a couple of other programs and have been trying to catch up with them as well. It's been interesting to watch.

I'm sorry your white wasn't as white as you wanted. It can be frustrating. I had one of those when I was ordering fabric for the masks. I ended up using it for the lining instead of the front.

I'm going to get lunch and cut out some more 2 inch squares. I have some of those I will save for a table runner for my side table. The grands love to look at the pictures on the frame (it is digital and they upload photos regularly) finding themselves and their cousins so I like having a fun covering for the table. I am working on some squares for an exchange and ran out of a variety. I have a "chain" of 40 rows that I'm sewing one after the other. It seems easier to do it this way and I have fewer problems with the fabric being eaten by the machine.

I made another sheet pan meal and have leftovers for a couple of days. It will be nice having some good veggies to eat. and is easy to make.

Have a great day.

Franks surgery went well. And he did not have to reroute the nerve he was able to work on it where it was. Not too sure what it all means just that it wasn't as complicated as it could have been. The snow was horrible to drive in getting there could hardly see the snow was coming down so hard but by the time we headed back home it was pretty much melted off the trees but still in the grass. The doctor warned us that it might be hard to find the pain pills and we ended up calling 3 CVS's before finding one that had them in stock. They gave him something for pain before we left and he has not needed any pain pills other than Aleve since coming home. A little bit of problems getting his elbow comfortable for sleeping. I rewrapped his Ace type bandage this morning it says on for 5 days then he can just use bandages.

I went to my ladies exercise class this morning since it is only a couple of miles away and he was in no pain. I have been working on my scraps squaring up pieces and separating them by size. I was glad I had made the pot of ham and beans for yesterday as I didn't feel like cooking. I only had a couple of hours of sleep (worrying) on Monday night but crashed and slept good last night.

Not much going on as Frank can't lift anything more than a couple of pounds until he has post op appt in a couple of weeks. So he will be doing a lot of TV watching and driving me crazy. LOL

Almost forgot Frank's nurse just happened to be our next door neighbor and we have never meant them before. So while we were waiting on time for Frank to be released we had a nice visit with her.

Sharon I am praying your issue comes back negative for cancer.

Morning!

LG - that is quite interesting that you met some ladies from Zeeland in your shop. Since I'm not a quilter, I'm not too surprised I don't know them. I hope you are not working so many hours this week.

Tammy - it is still very cold here and when we got up this morning, it was snowing lightly. I don't think it will stick but I don't want to see snow!! My days with the Covid Quarantine seem to be the same, day after day. If it's too cold to work outside, we sit around and watch a lot of TV! I will be much happier when we can get outside once again. Our park is very buttoned up with the new surge of Covid in MI. So we do miss the socializing we were able to do in TX!

PJ - Anxiously awaiting word on Frank. I hope all went well. I didn't like the picture of your snow either! I had to go to my dr yesterday. I had a horrible looking mass on my neck. It sort of looked like a wart but wasn't. The Dr. said it must go - immediately if not sooner. So she did the procedure right then and there. It went well but they had a dickens of a time getting it to stop bleeding. Because of that she said I need to not do anything physical for 48 hours. (That's like permission to sit and watch TV) They are sending it off to the pathology to figure out just what it was. It was so ugly, I have been covering it with a bandaid as I felt people were only looking at it and not me!

I did use my Instant Pot on Sunday to make a pork roast. It turned out wonderful. I am anxious to use it again. I do admit it's sitting on my counter as it is so big that I haven't found room for it inside a cupboard! That is the biggest problem right now.

Dont have much time to chat...just wanted to pop in and tell Sharon that 4 ladies came in our shop yesterday from Zeeland, Michigan! I cant remember their names but they were doing a quilt retreat at Batesville, In. Not too far from us. I told them I knew you but they said they didnt recognize your name. I just thought it was interesting.

Got to head to work.

Hi, Seesters...

We had snow today but I believe it is over now for us. Joe says we have a couple of inches, which is more than they thought for our area. I had an obgyn annual visit today and thought that the redbuds were kind of pretty with the heavy snow. As a rule, I am not a big fan of snow in April. LOL I am not a big fan of snow anymore at any time, I guess.

I was sitting in the waiting room in the obgyn clinic and thought the chair must be made for women who were expecting as I was sitting at an uncomfortable angle. Then I got tickled that only I would be the person that would discover that at age 62 and after two kids, if it was a thing. Does anyone know if it is a thing, at least some of the chairs in an obgyn clinic? I am like the very last person to "discover" things after everyone else knows.

I've not been sewing; my latest order included a white that looked decidedly yellowish after comparing it to what I had used in the quilt, so I decided that I needed to see whites in person and likely with my quilt top. I may do that Thursday, since my two weeks from the second Moderna vaccination is up tomorrow morning at 8:30. LOL I already have plans tomorrow.

PJ, I hope Frank is getting along well after his surgery today. I need to do organization of my sewing things.

SS, I "lose" time the same way. I really want to use my retirement time wisely, but I'm not sure that is happening, or perhaps I am too hard on myself.

LG, I haven't purchased any plants yet, either, but I did help Joe bring in four hanging baskets that he bought in the past few weeks. It is supposed to be near/below 32 this evening. I did plant some lettuce just to watch it grow and I will cover it up this evening. There will soon be enough for a BLT for us. LOL

WG, emoticon

I see my pcp on Thursday and I dread it as I have not lost any weight from when I saw her six months ago. However, if my obgyn's scales weigh the same, I haven't gained any either. Fingers crossed! I've been better about walking some than I was for quite some time.

Joe decided to get us a Netflix basic subscription and so we are enjoying The Crown. In fact, we started it after Prince Phillip's funeral on Saturday. I kind of had a hazy idea of a lot of it, from my library time in elementary/high school and looking at magazines, but I didn't quite have it all together just right. It's interesting to us, regardless.

Sharon, it is amazing how fast time flies! Let us know about the insta pot. Rachel had an air fryer but gave it away because it took so much counter space. Id really love to have a counter top oven. But no room.

PJ, I think I over did it during shop hop but Im getting back to normal. And you arent the only one to gain during COVID. I couldnt do anything because of my hip so its like Im starting over! Frustrating! Glad that Frank doesnt have to have COVID testing. For me it was painful and made my nose bleed.

Glad you are having fun with the feather weight. They are great machines.

Thomas & I have been to several nurseries but havent bought anything yet. Waiting because the weather is going to get cold again.

Worked in my sewing room yesterday for awhile but didnt get anything really accomplished. But Im planning to clean out the closet in Rachels room and get rid of the extra clothes stored there. SVDP has reopened so its gone!

Sharon where does the time go? It sure goes fast.

LG you are back to working a lot of hours again? I have been playing with the featherweight a bit and bought a new Free Motion Quilting attachement for my Janome and tried just a small piece playing with it. It was fun and I do want to do more of that.

It has been a busy week. I have been sewing and finished a few small projects using scraps. As I am sitting here I have sorted material into colors and sizes and the piles are laying all over my She Cave floor. Now I'm not sure what to do with them and how to go about using them up. I guess I am a little bit overwhelmed. I went to the local nursery yesterday for customer appreciation day and bought my petunias, moss rose and a couple of others for in front of the house and they are in the garage until the weather straightens out enough to plant.

My yearly checkup was as my doctor said labs were incredible. He wasn't at all upset with my 15 pound gain. But did say don't gain any more and he understood the problem with the Covid shut down. Frank will see him next week. This will be our last time with him as he is retiring. I will continue with seeing the Nurse practioner (as he said that would work for me since I have no issues) He will have Frank start seeing the female doctor that is in the clinic.

Frank had his labs and EKG done in preparation for his surgery on Tuesday. He was to have a Covid test on Saturday and when he got to the hospital after talking to several people they said that as of Friday afternoon the hospital and surgery center are not requiring Covid Test prior to surgery and they called his doctor to confirm. You never know what they are planning. We get our 2nd vaccines next Friday.

We will be trying to get the yard all mowed (both of us doing our portions) today and tomorrow as we are to have snow on Tuesday. Ugh

Take care.

We have been home 10 days already! Time sure flies the older you get. With all the socializing we did last week, we are still settling in for the summer.

We went to Camping World on Tuesday but so far we haven't heard anything from them in regards to our MH frig.

I love being back to my bubble baths and my own laundry room! I may have mentioned one of my friends in TX gave me an Instant Pot her aunt gave her for Christmas. She doesn't like it and lives Full Time in a small TT so didn't want to store it. Well, I haven't used it yet so today I am going to make a pork roast in it.

Hi Seesters. I'm have a break from eating today. I have been enjoying what I eat too much and need to take a step back. The grands are coming so they will finish the brownies I made yesterday and I will be able to enjoy my water today. I have had a lot of inflammatory stuff going on so stepping back helps reduce that as well. I'm ready to be doing more and it helps to eat better.

PJ, so glad you got your machine. It will be a nice addition to your travels. I'm sure you will enjoy it. I know most people love their feather weights. I hope it works out well for you. I'm glad you got the sleeping bag done. Have fun sewing the table cover with your scraps. It will be nice to have something else to do when you travel.

Glad you are getting your health things taken care of. It is nice to have one vaccine down. Even that after 2 weeks is pretty good.

That is funny about the pies. I'm sorry you lost the crust but glad the filling tasted good.

LG, glad you are going to be doing the Sassafras Days again. I'm sure you miss the fun of getting together for the dough making but it is a step in the right direction.

SS, glad you are vaccinated. The best vaccine for you is the one you can get but I have heard great things about the J&J vaccine. Don't second guess yourself. You are protected the same as the other vaccines, and perhaps more since they tested against the variants and a wider range of people.

I got a LED strip for the throat of my machine so I have more light. I'm going to try it today after I get done here.

Have a great day.

LG your comment about pies reminded me of what I stupid thing I did over the weekend. I was making a chicken pot pie with top and bottom crust. Got out my cookbook and measuring along and for whatever reason I doubled the shortening (Crisco) not even thinking the recipe was already for a double crust pie. I baked that thing about an hour it was golden brown but it was so yucky I couldn't figure out what I had done. THen I went and looked at the cookbook again and realized what I had done. Well we did manage to save the inside parts by scraping it out. The filling was really good. LOL

I have bene busy sewing got the doll sleeping bag and a little pillow made using scraps. And have a cover for my TV tray laid out using scraps and will attached some pocket on the side. This will be my travel sewing table.

We were able to get in yesterday for our vaccines. We got the one shot J&J/Jansen. I wasn’t sure it was right for us but after talking to the pharmacist, I felt better. As for side effects, I had a headache and joint stiffness. Norm had muscle pain but all side effects are gone after 24hrs.

Today we met Roni and family after church at Logan’s Roadhouse. It was a busy day for them as they were taking Tucker to see Godzilla vs Kong at the movies. They invited us to join them but we passed. Then tonight Hayden, Whit and Wayde came to visit. At first Wayde was shy and didn’t remember us but he warmed up rather quickly. Whit looks good but confessed she is still getting sick and vomiting. It comes out of nowhere and without warning. She didn’t have morning sickness with Wayde so this is new for her to be sick

So today was the first to be around anyone. The people we have seen since returning, we saw outside and with social distancing.

PJ, glad to hear that you got what you wanted. Its always nice to find exactly what we want!

SEK, glad you will get to go camping soon.

Work this past week was very busy. We had over 400 in for the shop hop alone. I came home tired every night. I slept in this morning and had a nap this afternoon! I did get my laundry done today. One of the gals is taking vacation this week so Ill be working 4 days this week. Then we will be having our Sassafras days at the museum and baking pies! With my hip I didnt get into rolling pie dough this year. But Ill be there that weekend.

Sharon, glad you got your vaccines.

A beautiful day here but more rain storms and cooler temps to start later today. The grass will definitely need mowed as soon as it is dry enough

I bought myself a present today. I found a Singer Featherweight locally and we drove about an hour to pick her up. It is just beautiful looks almost new and it is a 1949 model. Found her on our local Craigs list from a sew/vacuum repair place. It has been shined and gone through by him with a fine tooth comb. Now to try her out probably use her on the doll sleeping bag I am putting together. I did go higher in price but I also got a 2 year service warranty and 1 year parts warrancy. The parts he replaced were actual Featherweight parts.

We got our appts scheduled for our 2nd Covid shots and I have my appt for lab work on Monday so my results will be ready when I have my annual checkup on Thursday. Frank got his pre surgery appts for his Covid test, labs and EKG set up. Our calendar is really starting to fill up. And we both also have eye doctor appts this month too

SEK glad you are going to get out and enjoy that trailer. Have a good time spending money with your friend. Or spending her money

WG When I got groceries yesterday I finally found that Chinese 5 spice you had talked about. I used it last night on some veggies. I think we are really going to like it. A different flavor for sure.

I'm sitting here looking at material I have laid out on the floor for the doll sleeping bag. But will not be doing any sewing until tomorrow. Its like a jigsaw puzzle trying to fit scraps together.

Hi Seesters. It is sunny and nice and I have some grands here. It is nice here and the sunshine is so invigorating.

SS, hope you hear soon about your vaccine date. It is frightening to see so many people in your state getting sick. It is hard to feel safe but if you are careful and do all the things you need to, you can get through this.

LG, the shop hops always seem like fun and are good for business but are exhausting. I hope your hip held up and was good for you. I'm glad you got a new FitBit. Hope you get good use out of it.

Tammy, sorry you had a "robust" response to the vaccine. It affects people differently and depends also on the vaccine. I have heard that Moderna has a more pronounced response but DS had the Pfizer yesterday and was laid low and is still miserable this morning. He still says it is worth it.

I've got some sewing I want to do but it may not happen so I'll clean instead. We are having dessert this week instead of dinner and will be at DS's home to show off his new bathrooms. They redid all 4 of their bathrooms and they are just completed.

Have a great day.

Tammy - my friend had the same reaction but it only lasted overnight.

LG - sounds like you had a great birthday. Now to rein in your eating which is not always easy.

I am still busy catching up with everything. Laundry is done so now I’m trying to clean the house, room by room!

Norm’s boss stopped in the night we got home and said he has a list for Norm when he’s ready! We have a few things of our own that must be done first!

Tomorrow is Friday already! The weeks sure do fly by!

Seesters...

I got my second vaccine yesterday morning and spent a miserable night with chills and fever. I was in bed most of the day today, but seems just a mild headache now. It's all still better than COVID.

I see to be draggy so will stop.

Sorry Ive been missing! The shop hop ha s been so very busy. Ive come home so tired that I basically just ate & went to bed.

My eating is out of control since Sunday. The kids were here but left before 5 pm so Thomas & I didnt eat dinner. Which was fine by me. Monday at work everyone brought in food and it was a free for all! Tuesday they gave me a party at work for my birthday. Sharynn brought in doughnuts and Cathy brought in a small cake and Gail brought in chocolate! I brought the last of the cake home to Thomas. I need to get back on track.

I have gone back to the gym and Silver n Fit gave me a new Fitbit. Im liking it. Today I have over 5k and I am so happy about that!

Sharon, glad you made it home safe and got your shots scheduled.

I need to go back to read the posts.

We arrived home at 2pm today. After unloading and eating dinner, I was able to take a nice relaxing bubble bath. It feels good to be home. Several of our neighbors have stopped by to welcome us home although they wouldn’t come in and did the social distancing for Covid. Things are very different here in MI compared to TX.

I called and got us registered for the vaccine. Now we just have to wait for them to call with our appointment.

Been working out in the flower bed. 2 Days and I have a blister on the palm of one had and of course my thumg isn't happy.
I did meet my exercising ladies had a good outdoor workout this morning. We will workout tomorrow in the barn (at the same ladies house) as it is supposed to be rainy. It felt so good to be with them again and do some laughing and exercising at the same time. Still haven't been able to contact the Yoga studio they are answering phone or texts. I will drive by there again tomorrow and see if anyone is there.
Got Chris quilt repaired form the mice damage and will get it back to them sometime this week. (it isn't near as pretty with the patches but at least it can be used).

Now I am using scraps making material which I want to quilt into a doll sleeping bag for GGD. Not sure what I am doing but faking my way just sewing pieces together.

I have been scouring facebook marketplace and ebay trying to buy a Singer Featherweight 221 sewing machine to take with us when we are traveling. I might add in my price range. They are very popular right now because of their size and being lightweight.

Frank has been cleaning up in the yard getting ready to mow I have also mowed the front yard for the first time also. And he did get our taxes done and they are mailed.
Frank's skin issues are not blisters they are just red and some are rough like.

Tammy so glad DD didnt have to go into hospital. Thanks for keeping your eyes peeled for a Featherweight. If it was in your area we could probably drive to pick it up if we found one.

LG I would like to keep my price at $400 plus shipping. But I want one that is working with case, attachments and little manual. I have on some on ebay but didn't win. And keep checking on market place on fb.

Hello to all the rest.

Hi Seesters. After several days of 70+ weather, it is snowing today. An inch on the deck and lawn and still coming. It is fun for the dog and I did enjoy the great weather. I'm so happy that it was nice for the egg hunt and the kids could be outside.

SS, hope you get home safely. It will be nice to be back home and get some things done and take care of the things you need to do with the MH.

Tammy, it sounds like the weather has been nice so it has been a great thing and you are doing what you need to keep your equilibrium. The vaccines have been effective against the variants and although you could get Covid from one of them, it is unlikely you would become ill. I do understand and am hopeful that the weather will continue to be good and help the vaccines and reduce the spread of the virus so we can live more normal lives. The fact that most of the newer cases indicates to me (and I'm not an epidemiologist) are younger indicates that the vaccines work and the older people are protected for the most part. Nothing is perfect but it is very nearly so. I don't blame you, though, for hunkering down until things settle. I don't know how active the virus is in your area.

I'm sure you won't forget your vaccine appointment. I have two children who will get theirs this week and the other DD and SIL will get theirs the next week. By Mother's day all will be fully vaccinated. I'm excited that it is likely that almost half of the grands will also be vaccinated by fall. I'm hopeful, at least. The more that are vaccinated, the better we will be able to resume normal lives.

This is an area that is pretty into "personal freedom" and is filled with antivaxxers as well. It was interesting to hear a church leader speaking on Sunday say "do whatever you need to do so that we can return to church and be able to resume 'the Work' as soon as possible." I haven't attended "in person" church in over a year but am planning to go again this month. I'm a bit anxious about it, but will attend as it is pretty safe and they are careful about contact. They actually have split the congregation into two groups so only half attend each week. I'm going to be brave and feel safe as I venture out into the world again. It will happen and we will make it.

My hand and wrist are feeling better so I'm going to sew this afternoon before the grands come. It will be nice to get the blocks sewn together and see how they look. It will be an interesting quilt. Not sure what I'll do with it.

Have a great day.

We are spending our last night in another WalMart parking lot. So far there are 4 RV’s here for the night.

We have had beautiful weather for our travels and should arrive home tomorrow! I am ready, for sure.

Hi, Seesters!

LG, our area is mostly under a mask mandate, but a lot of folks are of the opinion "you can't make me wear it correctly", so when the new strains started showing up, we basically became hibernators, just to be sure. That was midJanuary, I think. I will get my second vaccine this Wednesday, and am SO READY...I had a phone call reminding me of it two weeks ago, and then another a week ago. I thought to myself, "How could anyone forget it?" I am sure not going to forget it, unless there is some kind of medical emergency in my life. LOL

400 2-inch squares, WG? My word...my hands hurt just thinking of it. We are quite warm today and I think we will be tomorrow as well. I haven't looked beyond that.

SS, glad you had a good time at Casey's and Zona's and that you are having safe travels thus far.

SEK, good to see you! I hope your first 2021 camping trip went well.

PJ, I will watch. There are times that I see a bunch of machines on my FB Marketplace. I don't recall if I have ever seen a featherweight, but I will watch.

DD avoided the hospital; her PCP wrote her a small script until she sees the new psych in midMay since it was a med she had been on previously. DD is having an awful time with pain; she says it is bone pain. Apparently DS mentioned it might have been from the shot. I think it is more likely it has to do with the stress in her life, plus her makeup doesn't handle stress well.

Hello to all!!!

Hi Seesters. Last warm day for a while. I've enjoyed some time outside and the fresh air. I opened the windows and have spent time on the deck or in the yard. It was necessary to get some of the yard cleaned up for the egg hunt, but it has also been nice for my soul.

SS, happy travels. I'm sure you are looking forward to being home again. Hopefully you can take care of everything in short order. I loved the photo of the pelican and hope it gets done soon. It really would be pretty outside but I'm sure it would be affected by the weather. It deserves a place of honor.

Tammy, hope DD can find a medication that doesn't have bad side effects and can help her. She did so well on the other medication that it is a shame not to be able to take them again.

PJ, you are a quilter when you want to take your machine along. It will be fun for sure to have something else to do. How is your thumb doing after all that handwork over the winter?

LG, glad you had the family with you. I'm sure you tired as you are still recovering. I'm sure you enjoyed the visiting and all the warmth of family love.

Have fun at the gym this week.

I've got to get moving. I cut over 400 2 inch squares of fabric last week and my wrist and fingers paid for it. It is good enough today that I can start making blocks for an exchange. It will be fun but I'm hating that I cut out all those squares.

Have a great day.

Happy Easter Seesters!

We have been enjoying our time here at Casey's and Zona's. Norm and Casey always go right to his workshop. Casey has a couple projects he was waiting for his Dad to help him with. I don't think he actually needs Norm's help but it makes his Dad feel good.

Zona has been very diet conscious this stay and our meals are still good. Today we are having the traditional Easter Dinner w/ham. We have not had any snacks nor desserts. However, we are eating Easter Dinner about 3 so she is making her individual Carrot Cakes for later this evening. Yum!

LG- I'm glad you could go to lunch with your friend. I love her attitude! I am sure you are enjoying Easter with your family today.

PJ - it is horrible the time it takes to get in to a dr! I have a problem with something on my neck. It started out as a age spot, dark brown but over the winter it has raised up and it looks so bad, I wear a bandaid on it so no one has to look at it! I called my dr a few weeks ago and I still am waiting until 4/22 to get in. If it proves to be cancerous, that's a long wait. I hope Frank isn't suffering too much waiting to go for his appt in May!

Tammy - so sorry your DD has such struggles. Unfortunately, my GD seems to have the same type of issues. They are always changing her meds which is bothersome to me as each one has different side effects. I will keep your DD in my prayers along with Lexi.

Norm would like to stay another day but I think I have convinced him to leave tomorrow. With Casey and Zona working, he would be bored so we may as well travel.

Tammy, so sorry to hear that about your DD. Its so hard for us parents when our kids are hurting. Is your quilt shop not open? Could you wear a mask going in or not? I too am over all this!

PJ, its so hard to get into doctors! My doctor retired at the end of 2020. I was referred to another doctor in this same practice. Well, I had an appointment for March. She will be out of the office so changed to April 19th. She will be out of the office & now scheduled for July 22nd!! Im so mad. Worst part...I have a prescription that was just renewed but only 30 days (which is May1). I must be seen by the doctor to get another prescription! Like when?? Frustrating to say the least! Hope Frank has better luck!

Sharon, I see that you are close to getting to C&Zs. Im sure you are so glad to see them.

WG, I know people who are afraid to go without the mask. I dont want to live afraid. I respect that some people are just not ready yet.

Went out to lunch with my 95 year old friend for my birthday. She is a wonderful lady with a great attitude. We neither one wore a mask. She says if I get it, its ok because Ill have done what I want. She has had both vaccines! But it was the first time in over a year that Ive eaten in a restaurant!

Today Ive cleaned & done some baking for Sunday. Im tired! Should sleep good!

Tammy prayers for DD sure hope she can avoid the hospital.

We got home Monday afternoon. Non stop since getting here as usual. 2 Days to catch up with laundry. Today we had our 1st Covid vaccine. Quite a setup for this mass vaccination site. I had registered before we left Texas and today was the last of the 2 days they had available. The next one will be in 3 weeks not sure if Frank will be able to or feel like it his surgery will be 3 days before. So he will check with his doctor for advice. I will get mine even if he can't.

On the way back home Frank told me to make him stop and make an appt with the dermatologist. He has been doctoring spots on his legs and arms for the last month and they aren't improving (he thought it was ringworm) but not going away with OTC meds. So that consult is scheduled for May 13.

I will start back with my exercise gals next Tues and Wed and will call the yoga studio and see if they are doing sessions without masks yet. If they are still requiring masks while doing yoga I will wait until that is lifted.

I will be mowing the front yard tomorrow Heather I like mowing like you like shoveling snow

I went to a new quilt shop this afternoon near our house and bought material for a quilt for us in the RV and some material just to have on hand. A stash has been started so I guess its official I am a quilter. LOL I am planning on sewing a doll sleeping bag from some of my scraps (waiting to find out how tall the doll is) for the ggd.

Thats about all here but it sure is good to be back home.
