Be sure to check into the camps and get signed up early.

Thank you for the reminder about the recipe book. I wrote three devotionals for our Church's Lenten booklet. I will include these as they are wisdom from my parents and family stories both. Will have to come up with recipes to go with them. Thanks for the idea. I can surely pull three more one page stories and recipes out even during tax season. I am Gal Friday at my friend's tax office. It keeps me busy for a couple of months.

One advantage to the camps is that we can set our own goals. I don't have to ruin my shoulder by sitting at the computer three hours a day.

Cathy- I also used Google Docs and had never used it so all of this was learning experience for me. I will have to check on the NaNo Camp in April.

My draft was about museums and the Maya and the ruins because they say "write what you know".

I saw a message from you on the Daily Chat. Did you finish your family cookbook? I have thought about doing one.

I sent you a request on NaNoWriMo.

Have a good day.

Hi Leona,

Excellent that you completed 50K your very first year. It is grueling. I have only completed I think 3 out or 8 years.

Camp NaNo is coming up in April. I always used the camps to edit. What I really like is just creating a fun story and hanging out with other writer nerds during NaNo. Never felt compelled to do anything with the stories when it started becoming work.

I have a couple that have made it to the fifth edit, but nothing to the tenth edit which is when I would be willing to let someone else read. I have also rewritten the same story during November a couple different times. That is a fun exercise. New stuff comes to light and gaping plot holes are revealed. I didn't even look at the first draft from the prior year. I just started writing the same story from scratch then plunked it all into yWriter after NaNo and sorted it out from there. I am definitely a pantser.

I wrote in Google Docs, because it was easier to just write and not worry about organizing.

I kind of did my shoulder in a couple years ago at NaNo, so I don't participate anymore. But I am a writing cheerleader still. I would love to get a good voice to text program. I might consider participating again.

I am Calliopecat. Not sure this link will work since I am logged in to NaNo

Hello all,

I happened to find this team today.

I did NaNoWriMo in 2020 for the first time and did complete. Not sure what I will do with the draft.

I downloaded yWriter to help with that and my last effort was to purchase Novel Factory. I do like the simplicity of Novel Factory. It was worth the money. Now If I felt like editing. LOL

Yep thats what it is and You tube has some great video's on how to do it... of course it's up to you to make it your own.. my favorite is Carrow Brown on you tube.. she also does more videos . I think shes awesome. But before oh my word.. my characters had various names , eye colors, jobs, became single when married, that sorta stuff.

Series Bible? Is that where you put all the details down to make sure you stay consistent? I like to change names of characters and I remember one time changing the floor from carpeting to hardwood. I should check and see how my local NaNo friends are doing.

Good morning how is everyone's Nano going or have gone. I reached 55,000 words. But the story is far from finished. After looking over last years book and this years, I can see without a doubt there is a change to make these instead of choose your own adventure into a 3 book series. I have 3 female main characters who can clearly have a book and adventures which will fill a book of their own. So in Dec I will let this years book set and rest as I look again at book one make a series bible and edit that one. Then Next year look at books 2 and 3.

What are everyone else's plans regarding their nano projects??

Wow, you are doing really well with the word count. Do you have a local group you are part of? Our little town in the rainy NW seems to host a plethora of writers. We have a writing guild that meets monthly. It is more structured. The other group was meeting a couple times a month away from the guild day to make it more evenly spaced for those wanting to do both. That group was more like the NaNo write ins. Then NaNo was huge for us. We usually had a guest author come and speak with us. Then lessons for using the website and a goodie kit sponsored by the library. The library has really embraced the authors and the people who just write for the fun of it. I am in the later category. No burning desire to even complete a book. I just love the people I have met. I have also gotten to be a beta reader for a couple folks who have self published and one of them was found by a publishing group and commissioned to write a three book series. That has been pretty exciting. I need to check and see where she is at with that. Her self published series was quiet good.

Thank you for wanting to share with me. I would love that opportunity.

Hey GrammaCathy, I wrote a character named Granma. without the d. I will share that with you when its approved on the site I write on. I can sympathize with your shoulder.. 2 years ago I fell and hit my left elbow, aside from splitting it open it didn't hurt for the longest time other than the actual whacking of it. Now I am seeing a doctor Wednesday to get test results and see what they want to do. The test guy said I had a moderate case of Carpel tunnel and if it wasn't taken care of I would lose the use of my arm... i need this arm. I can only use one hand.

My nano is about 38,000

HI Jazzy, I am a NaNo cheerleader this year. I have written many years and won most of them. I haven't done it since I mucked up my shoulder at NaNo a few years ago. And this year I am recuperating from surgery. If I ever figure out how to make the voice to type programs work effectively, I might try again. My favorite story to write was about some magical people, a hot air dirigible shaped like a whale and selective mutism. I included my whole family in that story. I really would like to update that one again and clean it up. Also spent a few years writing the stories my dad used to tell about moving from Kansas to Oregon during the dust bowl. The other one was about a retired couple trying to patch their marriage by a cross country road trip, a drug addled son and a baby with Down Syndrome. All fun topics and/or close to my heart.
