don't just track your progress by the scale use other factors, such as making healthier eating choices more consistently, the way your clothes fit, inches lost, increase in amount of time you are working out, etc.

I try to do different styles of exercise. For about four days I will do pilates, then for three days I'll do some exercises using a resistance band, the next day I'll do 2 miles of WATP, and then four days of different zumba routines. Afterward, I go through the cycle again. I have not be bored nor dread exercising.

That's a hard question...
I would have to say both the transition from diet to lifestyle AND that setbacks are normal and don't mean failure.

What is the most important lesson you've learned from this team (or Spark)?

Tips for changing my eating habits
How to stay motivated
To transition from "diet" to lifestyle
How to exercise correctly to reach my goals
That setbacks are normal and don't mean failure
To use other measures of success besides the scale

Yes! My mom is overly body conscious....but not necessarily health conscious. She told my 21 year old brother the other day, "Look, if you don't lose weight no one will ever marry you." Great parenting there, mom. emoticon

My dad on the other hand is a freakin' yogi zen master. He's all about respecting food and showing thankfulness for a healthy body through activity.

No, my mom was pretty cool about how my body looked, even when I was overweight. She just makes comments about the style and/or type of clothing I wear that is inappropriate and rude at times.

I have a late lunch and a busy afternoon so by the time I actually realize I am hungry it is when I am getting home so I drink some water, work out and if that doesn't work grab a healthy snack to tie me other until dinner.

I try to think about ANYTHING other than the fact that I'm on the elliptical machine. I have caught myself trying to remember or even make up lyrics to dumb songs, making a list of cleaning I should do, even MATH. Other, more fun exercises are different. If I am walking some place nice, or playing a sport, I can handle it.

Usually I drink some water or a cup of hot tea; if that doesn't do it, a piece of fruit or a project that needs concentration and both hands!

It usually isn't a problem because I eat 6 small meals a day. If it is I:
Open up my snack drawer and choose from the healthful, pre-portioned items that I stash for just this occasion.

Eat protein! Make sure to increase protein levels earlier in the day to keep it from happening again the next day. This seems to be the only thing that keeps the cravings at bay for me.

New Question for this week:

**Afternoon hunger pangs hit. What do you do?**

Try my best to ignore them until dinner--I don't want to go over my daily calorie goal!

Open up my snack drawer and choose from the healthful, pre-portioned items that I stash for just this occasion.

Head for the vending machine and choose something that'll fill me up fast.

Eat something portion controlled, like a 100-calorie snack pack.

Drink something and see how I feel later.

Usually it depends on my mood for the day. Most days it tends to be just getting through it or all the other responsibilities and to-do lists I have to get done. When I'm on the treadmill at the gym, I tend to watch tv with the closed captioning on. It makes me stay focused on the show and not the timer on the treadmill.

Depend on the type of exercise - usually just trying to get through it.

When it's dance then I enjoy it.

If I'm on the treadmill, I'm usually watching the time but trying to pretend that I'm not watching the time. I'll have the tv on, or some sitcom playing on my tablet to distract me from the time. But, truthfully, I do too much watching of time. :) If I'm walking or running outside, its just the opposite! I'm actually thinking all kinds of things and the time goes by very quickly.

Depends on the workout. For classes at the Y or interval workouts, I am focusing on my heart rate and the moves within the workout. Sometimes, especially when walking, I just let my mind wander. With strength sessions, I am thinking about form, how much weight I am lifting and trying to increase, and what other moves I want to include in that workout.

It depends on what the workout is. If I'm doing a toning video then I'm usually thinking about the exercises and getting through it. If it's Zumba then I'm singing along with the songs in my head, thinking about the steps (especially if it's a new routine) and (sometimes depending on my day) getting through it.

Usually just getting through it and if I'm able to do more than before.

I believe in taking a positive attitude toward the world. My hope still is to leave the world a little bit better than when I got here.
