Indeed it's a new day, Colibri -- you'll get back on track!

I'm back on track as of this morning - have had a tough week because I didn't plan well (I usually pack all of my food for the week since I work away from home for multiple days each week) and I didn't have time/access to exercise most days ... it was a jam packed week. I'm working from home today and am heading to the gym now ... for a painful/tearful reunion with the treadmill. sigh. I don't feel well (amazing how my body has adjusted to the clean eating and is NOT happy when I don't do so) so I'm actually looking forward to getting back into the routine.

Have a great weekend everyone and Happy Mother's Day to those who celebrate!

Cycle 1, Day 6 emoticon
Yesterday I let myself to go too hungry - didn't want to stop what I was doing and eat...
The result: First, I nibbled on some almonds while preparing dinner (chicken breast and veggies), thinking it was still passable. Then AFTER eating dinner - I was not hungry at all, but had a craving for something sweet!! So I ate a couple of cookies. :-(

(Sigh) Well, it's a new day.

Sorry I've been absent. I have like 4 part time jobs. I workout when I get home, eat, clean, and go to bed. Still been on plan. I finished Cycle 1 Monday. I lost 5.5 lbs. I also started Turbofire. I'm on Day 9 of that. I love it! I've decided to go to Cycle 3 and stay there until I get to goal. My workouts have been much better this week since I did. The no carb thing before doing Turbofire just didn't work. It is a 20 week plan. So, my goal is to, at least, lose 1 lb. a week. I think that is very reasonable and attainable. Time for bed. Hope everyone is doing well.

I love the Lipton mixed berry green tea also. They have it in regular and decaf. I drink both. I also add about 1/2 pkt. of Truvia.. tolerable.

I'm on track today. Made spaghetti tonight for the family and ate mine with spaghetti squash. Yummers.

Thanks for the tip! I've started drinking one with ginger that is almost tasty. I am hoping I get used to green tea. I've always wanted to be a green tea drinker on account of the health benefits, but without honey...whew. I will try the kind with fruit!

I can and I will.

Day 4 for me of c1. I am doing well but had cravings last nite but didn't give in. It is so easy to tell yourself you have been good all day so a little "blank" won't hurt. Yes, it will! It will undo all the effort I have put in during the day and when the day is so close to being over why ruin it now! I only have 2 weeks left of c1 and I can do anything for 14 days!

I did catch myself today having a thought I didn't know was there. I was looking at blogs and didn't realize one was about weight loss and then on the right hand side, as I scrolled down, there was a before picture and then as I scrolled down further there was the after picture. Before I knew it my brain told me "I could never do that". I am kind of stunned. I always thought I thought I could do this so now I know a part of me thinks I can't. Really gives me something to think about!

Time for me to fess up (already?). While I did well calorie intake-wise yesterday, I did fall off the 17 day wagon last night. I think I just didn't give myself enough calories early in the day so last night I got hungry. Today is off to a great start though; lemon water drank, green tea in hand, and a lovely egg and egg white-spinach breakfast, nom, nom, nom. With strawberries. Completely lovely. Other than the green tea. I kind of hate it.

I can and I will.

On D6C2...a little off, as it's supposed to be a C1 day. I had a handful of almonds with my smoothie for lunch (12 to be exact).
I did a hill run this morning and I am starving. Trying to get in some more protein.

I have enjoyed reading how everyone's doing. Looks like many are having a hard time sticking to C1 after their first round or two on it. I agree. I think the book says you can rotate back through the cycles if you want to, or stick with the cycles that work best, and maybe fall back on C1 if needed. I love C3, and I think it's calorie and nutrient rich enough to stick with it. Of course on the weekends, I do splurge but I'm trying to make healthy choices 80% of the time.

I have kind of stalled out on the weight loss.. so I probably need more than 80/20 right now. That must be my "maintenance" key.. when I get there. I want to reach my goal SO so badly, but.. I feel kinda stuck. Guess it's better than going the WRONG way.

I really just need to exercise. Nice weather for walking again, yay! And I got a new Pilates tape, so NO EXCUSES!!!!!

Well, today is meant to be day 1 for me, but I am down with a nasty asthma attack, which is likely to prevent me from exercising. Should keep my appetite to a minimum though! I did remember the lemon water, so off to a good start in that regard.

I can and I will.

Day 3 today. Yesterday I had a major migraine that basically put me down for the day. Luckily they don't come around too often. Still lingering a bit today but much more bearable. Eating is still on track but as usual with me not the exercise.

Hey guys, I'm back here (finally). Sorry for my absence - life got the better of me and if I'm not checking in here daily/multiple times per day I'm not checking in at all. I think I've got things pretty much under control at this point, now to just work on those all-or-nothing perfectionist thoughts!

This C2 has been a tough one for me; I'm fine on the actual C2 days, but C1 finds me eating more fruit than I should (at nitetime!) and eating...cheese. Which I have learned, I can't eat cheese in any large quantity any longer (= digestive issues).

I've stuck with working out, though, so that is a positive thing. And I haven't gone 'off the rails' with the diet - at this point sticking with it is just easier than throwing in the towel LOL

Hope everyone has a good day, and I'm headed to read all the posts and updates I've missed over the past week+.

April, I always forget about that 3 bite rule. I have yet to use it!

Colibri you are off to a good start. I also had my eggs with some salsa and a wedge of laughing cow cheese. Off to the grocery store in a bit to stock up for the week. No real menu plans, just the usual c1 foods and a list of what meals I usually eat on c1.

This time around I am insisting on getting my exercise in as well so today will just be a walk around the neighbourhood if this nice weather holds.

C1d6. Forward motion at least... Forgot to invoke the 3- bite rule, which might have kept me mindful and not resulted in some distracted eating.
Memo to self-Each day I am practicing my future maintenance plan that I'll follow during the week once I'm at goal. That's my favorite part of the 17 day; a straightforward program for eating healthy with a nod to some indulgences.

C1d5. The bloom is off the rose and I'm in the trenches -- my season of pain -if you've listened before to 'fatloser'. Went overboard last night with wine n snacks following some very stressful news. But I'm backing up the truck and gonna hit the wall again and again until I break thru. I've done it before and it is doable (and not very hard or uncomfortable once begun.) it's like having writers block when you just cannot write the first words. Once you do, more words begin to flow easily... So, lets pick up the pen and rev the truck engines today!

I have to remember to come here more often. You guys are doing awsome!

Erica, your photos are amazing and you have done so well in such a short period of time. Keep it up!

Dude, glad to hear you are doing great. That faire sure goes on forever. Does Babe participate as well. Sounds like you are doing cycle 4. I need to get on that exercise band wagon soon!

April, your posts are hilarious. Did your son try to get you side tracked at all so you would forget about the gym? That spa water sounds good and refreshing. I did have a cucumber mojito once and it was pretty good - yes, I know the spa water doesn't have alcohol. LOL!

I am not quite back on track but the plan to get there is almost in place.

Uncle Ben said "With great power comes great resposibility."
I can say "With great fitness comes great matabolism."
Since part of mine & VBabe's fitness plan includes weights & running, when the So Cal Ren Faire hit town I was in a good position to maintain (much to my surprise) an average of only 2-4lb over my goal weight.
As the cook for my group I'm off track all weekend (too much temptation and booze). I eat what I cook and my group is not on track. Im averaging a 4lb gain over the weekend, BUT because of the running and weights I'm seeing about a 3lb loss over the week.
3 more weeks of Faire to go and then I'm upping my game and setting an even lower goal to aim for.
So I guess the moral of this post is (besides a bit of boasting) is that fitness training is magic! You don't have to power lift or run marathons, but any excersise is better than none. And VBabe can confirm this, any excersise leads to more excersise, and that leads to better finess.

C1d4. Mostly on track. Still have my weak time of day when I seem to suspend logic! But the trend is good and persevering makes more sense than starting over. It's kinda a dual personality, where only one of us is dieting. The other is already at goal weight and does'nt need to be concerned about it.

C1d3. On track. Starting to feel the benefits. Going to get mint from the garden and make spa water with lemon and cucumbers...
Small battles are raging betw my logical self and my emotional self where my emotional self 'tries' to put forth a reasonable sounding rationale for why a bite of something really isn't a problem; for example. "-you know your calorie count is low, so a few salty snacks can fit in..." I did succumb a bit: wish I had paused longer to remind myself that I am also detoxing and if I really needed something there were better choices!
I have a really sneaky, clever "voice" that has been trained for years in how to derail me. I need to see it as a bad, ugly neural pathway that I have enlarged over the years with all my yo yo dieting, and, that instead, I'm making new neural pathways that are small now but are banked with newly emerging flowers and friendly garden gnomes.....the gnomes smile at me as they are filling in that other ugly rut, smoothing it over so it goes away....

Ahhhh. Have a great day everyone.

Great job gettin back on track. The best advice I received from this board is 100% compliance on C1 if you want the killer results. For some reason - those words 100% compliance stuck with me and everytime I was tempted, I remembered them. I was able to lose 13 pounds in C1 and a total of 31 in only 3 months which is amazing when I see it in text. You can do this. Little cheats lead to bigger cheats - trust me - this I know well :) I just kept saying what can't I do for just 17 days? GO GIRL~!

Great job sticking to it, MYREALANA!!

I am also sensitive to caffeine, and my heart flutters weird at night if I drink anything more than my morning coffee. I buy the caffeine-free berry green tea (lipton I think). And I have to add one pkt. of truvia because I really don't love it. But I cup my hands around the mug and sip it happily as though I do love it. haha. Makes me feel splurgy.

On track so far today, and I've been awake for about 3 hours. lol.

On track and done eating:
B oatmeal & cutie orange
L 1/2 c beans smothered with tons of sauteed veggies (in water + 2t. canola)
D fish & broccoli
Ss yogurt & berries; blue bunny sf icecream bar

Day 5 and I'm sticking to it.

I was sorely tempted yesterday. I hit Costco on my lunch break to pick up some paper products we needed at home. Normally, I lunch on samples if I'm there in the middle of the day, but I did make sure to eat my turkey and peppers before I went. The samples didn't even look good. Greasy microwave food. Blah. I was tempted by the lady with the cheese and crackers, but there was a line, so I had time to talk myself out of it.

The only problem I'm having so far is that I can't have so much caffiene. I know green tea is lower than most sodas or other teas, but I'm extremely sensitive to caffiene and I lay awake for a couple of hours last night with heart palpitations. I'm going to have to make adjustments.

Day 4 and so far, so good.

I did have a little ice cream yesterday. We hiked through downtown Denver about 2 miles to get to this ice cream place my friend was excited about, and then stood in line for almost an hour to get to the window. I intended only to buy cones for my kids, but by then, my willpower was gone. I got the 99 cent "mini scoop" which is about 2TB of gelatto.

Actually, it was enough. I got a taste and didn't need more.

Back on track 100% today. I've got 53 days to Mexico and 15 lbs to lose if I'm going to fit into my swim suit. No indulgence is worth not making that goal.

Mmmm.. MOM2 .. your post made me hungry! lol. Looks like you're finding creative ways to stay on track - good job.

I had a great weekend - and I'm ready for May. April was a wash. A couple of pounds up..could have been worse. I had good days and bad days.. just wasn't super focused on my goal. II think I got complacent with the weight I lost Jan-Mar.

Keep on keeping on!!!!! Summer is right around the corner :))

Howdy!! I was a bit off track this weekend since we were out a lot. My daughter has been seriously ill and in the ER and back to the hospital today. I did pretty good yesterday at the hospital with bbq chicken, carrots, and broccoli. Went out last night to applebees and had tilapia, salad, and mixed veggies. Afterward, we went to sweet frog and I got a little nonfat banana frozen yogurt. Today I had 2 hardboiled eggs and a yogurt on the way to the hospital. We stopped for lunch on the way home and had a kiwi strawberry smoothie sweented with splenda and a buffalo chicken wrap (wrap not on the plan). Then we had a soccer game and went to a pizza place with friends and I had a salad with one piece of salami and one piece of provolone. All in all with all I have going on, I think I hung in there. Today is the last day of Cy1!!! I did it. I am soaking some black beans to make for tomorrow. I need to make some salads and some grilled meat/browned meat so I have something to grab if needed. At the local store, I found canned chicken in buffalo sauce which doesn't have any carbs and is all white meat. I really like to put it in lettuce and wrap it. I need to go grab a few more cans of that too.

Forgot to do my daily check in yesterday. I had a stomach virus yesterday. So, not much to report. I tried to eat on plan but at one point I had to have a couple of pieces of toast. I held out until about 4. The pain in my stomach started easing off after that. Better today. Just the headache from hell.

Cycle 1, Day 2.
Yesterday was OK, until about 6 PM. Then it got all wrong.
Well, it's a new day today.

Thanks Sharon - i'll see how it goes! This feels like a major test ... goodness knows when it comes to overeating, I've studied a great deal! LOL ... hopefully I can really put this new way of eating to the test next week.

@nymorningglory.... have a wonderful time away with family.... and i think you did a great job with being realistic, realizing how far you have come, and setting yourself up for success on your return.

@sam.... stick with it!!!! I remember that the weight came off at the end of cycle 1 for me (and that pattern sort of continued into other cycles and rounds). You are doing great if you are sticking with this healthy eating and cleansing. really you are. emoticon

yes sam --- you're right! there are so many ways to measure success with this food plan ... so pay attention to your clothing, to inches lost, to stamina and endurance ... those are other important indicators of increased health!

I'll be offline (more or less) until next Friday. Heading out of town to visit family and will have multiple food challenges ... but I'm ready to deal with the consequences and trust that while I will eat off plan from time to time, I will do far less "damage" than i would have a year ago. And I'm putting this in writing because when I get back home and I'm upset about any gain, I have it here in writing that I said I'd deal with the consequences! LOL ... so it's a fair warning to myself - no whining since I know what I'm about to do to myself and my hard work! have a great weekend and a great week, everyone!

I decided to weigh myself this morning after 5 days on C1. I was upset to see that I had only lot 2lbs. But, when I looked at the change in body fat percentage it dropped 5%. So I guess that evens out the less than dramatic loss of pounds, right?

So, I decided to start right at the top to catch up with what I have missed here while away.

@Kathymag..... what a great job you have done stepping in as a new co-leader with advice, support, and writing about your own successes (adding pool laps to add variety to an already busy workout schedule) what an inspiration you are!!!

@JNCWhaley... so glad to have you back in the saddle (I know.. it's really Kathymag who is literally in saddles). Sounds like you have renewed your focus and I LOVE how positive you are about achieving your goals. And you are so right to be positive because you KNOW how to do this. Hope the c25k is going well for you.

and speaking of focus.... @ktisfocused.....what wonderful advice you have given!!!! you seem to be "spot on" in all your posts. thank you so much. i was feeling "guilty" about not being able to get on-line especially since I know we had two leaders step down and one dealing with serious things. So, I was so happy to see your posts giving such great feedback and help.

@Jennyjenn18- i hope your coffee withdrawal headaches have ceased. i still am "on" coffee but nowhere near as much as i used to drink and before 17DD i was using all those chemical sweet creamers. at least those are in my past. i know for a fact because i wasn't even tempted while stopping for coffee during my breaks from long driving recently. i even had my unsweetened almond milk in a cooler to add with my stevia. stress is SUCH a huge deal. i have gone away from my meditation and really need to get back to it. i did so well in february when i did my meditation challenge every single day and wrote about it. guess i will add that back as a goal in May.

@everyone else, especially fairly newbies.. to be continued.

Alongwar,
You will lose, just be patient. Sometimes the scale can be so frustrating. I don't know anyone who lost 20 pounds. I didn't lose very much and most of my loss was at the end of the 17 dayts. It seems like most were 10 or so but the improvements were great so use other non scale markers. You are doing great, hang in there!

Got on the scale this morning after 4 days on cycle on 1 and 4 pounds down. I really want some of the big losses some of the other ladies have like 20+ pounds in cycle 1. It would really be great to get substantially closer to my goal. Also, i feel like i am eating a LOT more than most menu plans I have seen on this blog. Seems like some people must e hungry, or I am eating way too much. I should be celebrating, but my glass is a bit half empty at the moment.

R1Cy1Day 14 woohoooo I'm almost done cycle 1!!!! yay me!!! I did weigh today and I hit the 10lb lost mark!!! double woohooo!!! Two hard boil eggs and a probiotic yogurt for breakfast and lunch was a grilled chicken breakfast, baked tomatoes with olive oil and herbs, and roasted cabbage. We are going to a cookout tonight so I am a bit nervous. I am going to have kefir for snack this afternoon. They will be having pulled pork and I will be bringing an oriental coleslaw which is complaint :) I know someone is bringing a fruit tray...I will likely eat those things. I am saving my fruit servings for then even though it will be late in the day. I will exercise when I get home tonight to try to burn them before bed. I am also bringing dessert...I am bringing banana pudding for the general public and then "cherry surprise" for me to have a few bites. Cherry surprise is cool whip (fat free kind), crushed pineapple in it's own juice, cherry pie filling (lite sweetened with splenda), and sweetened condensed milk (no fat kind)...the sweetened condensed milk has carbs. I am thinking that in the future I can make this without the whipped cream and sweetened milk but using greek yogurt and if it needs a little sweet use truvia...what do you all think? That might make it an even better compliant dessert. Anywho I don't think I would break too much if I have a few bites of this. That's my plan for now!
