I heard a new statistic the other day:
You gain 3 pounds during engagement and 9 during first year of marriage!

Hopefully that is incentive to get us all working harder!

I lost about 5 pounds for the wedding and have gained it back since then (plus a little more). i blame the amazing food at Disney and on the cruise and all the stress I have from looking for a job! I really need to get back on my diet and exercise program.

I thought I was the only one who gained post- wedding, I am glad I'm not!

The fact that you lost 5 pounds shows you can do it when you put your mind to it. Now that you have a goal in mind, create a plan and you will do it!

That is great that you and your husband can work out together.

How long is the race you will participate in this November?

My hubby and I are both teachers, so during our time off right now we are working out together almost every day. I find that I work much harder when he's there to make sure I don't stop a few reps short or take a break when I'm just feeling lazy and don't really need one. I also signed up for a race in November, so now I have motivation to start running again.

This actually really common. I think it is because we feel comfortable around our hubbys and we know that we have them.

I actually didn't gain any, lost it and then gained it back. So I am the same weight I was when I got married 2 years ago.

How are you planning on loosing the weight this time?

You can do anything you put your mind to!

Hi Everyone,

This is comforting!! As someone else mentioned below... I didn't own scales before I got married but I do now!!! Lol! The tell-tale sign was when my jeans just refused to go up over my thighs. I wanted to cry - those were my fat day jeans!!! So I thought I was long overdue a change!!! Im 2 stone overweight...but hopefully not for long. Good luck Newly Weds!!!

This makes me feel so much better! I got married in November and I've gained back 5 pounds since then (which was what I lost before the wedding). It was so discouraging, but I know a lot of it was my lack of exercise because I hurt my knee. Without the immediate motivation of an upcoming wedding, I'm having trouble finding the motivation to get back on track.

Hey everyone,
I seriously don't know how I let this happen! But it's kinda comforting (sorry!) to know that you all are in the same boat! I got married August 23rd and have packed on 10lbs I don't even know how....being happy and carefree I guess. I had the real wake up call yesterday when I couldn't button my favorite pre-wedding pair of jeans! I'm motivated now to get back to my prewedding weight!

What doesn't kill me can only make me stronger

I am glad I am not the only one with the "happy" pounds! It doesn't help that we are traveling and have to eat out EVERY DAY! I have really been making an effort to make healthy choices and so has my husband. It helps that we both are watching what we eat for sure!

It started out as 6lbs which I could handle and now I'm up to 13 lbs! WTF! I know it's because we've been going out all the time again, when we were wedding planning mode (we only had 4 months) there was no time for friends, going out, etc, now we have snuck back into eating out 3-4 times a week! Today is my first day back at spark.I've said it before but today is back to checking myself in daily. We've only been married for 4 months....at this rate I'll be back to where it all began in no time and that is making me seriously depressed. Winter motivation is not there, bring on Spring!

I was also married on July 12th, 2008 and put on 10 pounds after the wedding. I wish I had the motivation before the wedding that I do now, so I could have lost weight before my big day. Instead of exercising I would make excuses that I had wedding planning to do (or lesson planning, since I'm a teacher). In the months after the wedding I was so overwhelmed with all the duties as a wife that I wouldn't work out.

Hi ladies! I am new to SP as of the first of January. I have same story as so many of you! I got married in August, wasn't my ideal weight before the wedding, and have put on an additional 15 pounds! So many people have told me "ah its the marriage weight" but prior to the wedding I didn't get any warnings! Anyway, I can already tell that spark is going to be a key to my success! I look forward to being a part of this team!

Oh, this topic is right up my alley! I got married in October as well and have had NO motivation since then. I have exercised at home a few times but nothing major. I've also been lax on my eating, indulting a few too many times! I'm up about 7 lbs from my wedding weight and its driving me nuts!

I want to be back to 166 by 12/31/08! (I'm at 171 but refuse to move my weight tracker emoticon ).

I'm glad I'm not the only one! I got married in October and have gained 7 pounds back. I'm having such a hard time getting back into the gym... and the sweets around the office are killing me!

You can do it girls! I lost 25 lbs for my wedding and gained five back. I finally started tracking EVERYTHING again this week and I hope by mid-month to be under my wedding weight! My weight has finally gone down a lot!

I lost about 35 pounds using Spark before my wedding in August. After that, I gained 15 of it back. Now I'm back and I'd like to get down to 120 by next summer so I can look amazing as my sister's matron of honor. If I can do it, it would be a total of 80 pounds I've lost since my heaviest(201) two years ago.

I've gained 7 pounds and 2 inches on my waist since my May wedding. That doesn't sound like a lot, but it is for my frame. I am definitely back on the Spark bandwagon!

I know how you feel! I never lost all the way down to my goal weight, but I lost about 15 lbs, and on the honeymoon I gained 10 back! I thought it would drop back down (we got married in June) but it is sticking and getting worse. I need that motivation back , but it is just so discouraging.

I'm excited for you too!! We've got a lot in common! I also got married in August! I didn't loose hardly anything for my big day (maybe 5-10lbs). I would also like to loose 35lbs (well, I've already lost 9lbs, so 27lbs left), which would make me 135lbs. I've found the strength to lose in this website! It's awesome! I'm pretty new too...I joined in the end of October.

Well, I hope you find this website and team helpful!

Hi Everyone!
I am so excited about this board. I just got married in August and have strapped on 15 pounds since the big day. I never truly achieved my goal weight for my wedding so I would like to lose a total of 35 pounds and weigh 130. I just joined sparkpeople today and hope that it will be a great vice to help me FINALLY reach my goal!
