It seems what communication we give is on chat. I hope that you don't have to much trouble with giving out your flyers. After the new year you will have to come up with ingenious ways of getting your steps in. Great job May!

Almost through the busiest time of the year for delivering flyers. The amount cuts down drastically after Christmas. Will be especially challenging for the next little while as we have been having LOTS OF SNOW which makes pushing a shopping cart impossible. Will have to drag a small wagon or even the toboggan.
Where has everyone gone on this accountability thread??

Thanks VICTORIOUSAMYB. It's been somewhat of a flyer week this week as I have had to walk the routes twice. Many extra flyers because the stores are advertising specials for Black Friday. Realized that I have to buy new boots, something warm and not slippery. Fell three times on the ice. Not much fun. But I did get my steps.

I hate it that it is cold for you but you are a trooper to do your thing. Keep on walking! Great job!

-4C here today, cold and slippery. My boots are still wet from delivering flyers last evening and I have many more to get into peoples' mailboxes before Thursday evening. This type of work is really unpleasant during the winter months which tend to drag on here in Manitoba but I am grateful that it forces me to get off my butt and actually walk. Usually no problem getting my steps on "flyer days".

Do what you can when you are most comfortable. I am more active in the morning and slow down toward evening. Sometimes it is a little rough trying to balance things out.

Just found this thread so I am commenting for the first time. I have made a concerted effort all this week to reach my daily step goal even if it involves going for a walk late at night. I have met that goal although sometimes feel quite pressured, especially as I seem to be quite tired after returning from lunch duty at the elementary school and often take a nap. One Sparker mentioned that she has a goal of reaching 10,000 steps by noon and then makes the rest of her steps later in the day. I would really really like to do this but I seem to be a slow starter in the morning especially when the temps are below zero.

Sharon, I agree with Amy. Too much too fast can really burn you out. I do HIITs but they are on an elliptical. I will kick the resistance up to 8 and do 2-3 mins and then down to 5 and do 5 mins and repeat. I have kicked it up to 10 but that is really difficult for me to sustain for any length of time.

Also, your calories are already low and any lower could be unhealthy. You will get there. Be patient with yourself! emoticon

I walk two to three hours a day. As far as losing weight faster, it still has to do with how much you eat. It all goes hand in hand. It is different for everybody. One thing for sure, you don't want to get to the point that you burn out fast. Pace yourself for increase. Maybe adding another thousand steps or another fifteen minutes once a week. Set the day you want to start your increase. Don't push too fast! Or too much!

When I walk it's either taking my dog for a walk or plugged in to music. I'm curious how you get your steps in daily. Does anyone do HIIT or slow jogging? Some days I feel like I need to up my walking in some way. The dr said 30 min of continuous walking is sufficient for heart health but I'm wondering if I would lose faster if I worked harder.

There are days I just have a difficult time walking. Today was one of them. I really wanted to be lazy and not push myself but I told myself that was not an option.

So after procrastinating until 3pm, I got busy and reached my goal for the day!

Walking can be difficult where ever we are. Myself, I winter in a 38ft Motor Home so on days that I can't get outdoors to walk I will use a WATP dvd or my favorite Sweating to the Oldies.

Let's keep pushing and get our steps in today!

The last 2 evenings I have been walking in the hallways of the apartment block where I live. It's definitely boring (I prefer walking outdoors in nature) but I always wear my iPod and listen to music which makes the time go faster.

My step goal is 15K per day (6 days). One day I usually just do 12K. Sort of a "rest" day. Winters can be tough in my area too but if I can't get out to the gym, I do a Leslie Sansone DVD or just walk around my house and up and down the stairs!!

Last October I was diagnosed diabetic and prescribed three pills. I refused them with the dr saying I must lose 40-50 lbs over the winter and exercise 30 minutes every day. My A1c was 7.8.

When I got my FitBit in November I was averaging 1,000 daily steps. I set my goal for 2,000 and started walking. It was hard at first but as I started losing weight and walking, it became easier each week to reach my goals.

When I went to the dr in the spring, I had lost 63 lbs, was walking 10-12,000 daily steps and brought my A1c down to 5.3. Needless to say, I was happy with my progress and so was my dr. This year over the winter (we are snowbirds) he has suggested I lose 25 more lbs to reach my ultimate weight goal.

Just a little background info so we can get to know each other. Now you know I am working to lose 25 lbs!

My daily goal is 12,000 steps which can be a real challenge especially when the weather is miserable. The past week has been rainy, dreary and cold. Manitoba winters are nasty and long. We had our first sign of snow yesterday but it didn't last. Today might be a better day.

My goal is to get steps in for the day. Yesterday I helped to stack wood and took my dog for a walk in the woods. It was such a nice day in Ontario for Nov 4th.

Here we post our position like how many steps we are doing or want to do. What kind of exercise or how many miles. We are accountable for ourselves and what we do can inspire another. Basically we are just letting others know we are here for the day.
