Shirk - Kind of a crazy day in the valley of the sun...only the sun wasn't part of it till this afternoon! We have a rain gauge (joke birthday gift for my husband). Be the time rain ended we had 4.75"...that's a first! Hope you stayed dry! Have a great week!

Shirk - Our long weekend was low key, we did get together with a group of friends for a game marathon on Monday, everyone brought a dish to pass and had 3 tables of one game going on...winners got to rotate to one table that is designated 'winners' table...lots of fun, food and laughs.

SHIRK - Glad to see you are busy and entertaining yourself here. It is a shame all these years, and I have been with Spark since 2008, just celebrated my 6th anniversary and this poor team has never flourished, and definitely not for a lack of trying. When I joined Spark in 2008, this was more active, not by much but some chat. The team Capt. at the time, arranged get togethers to walk and there'd be and 2 or 3 other people. I made attempt being Team Leader, and had similar results, then someone took over after me with no results...so here it is...
I need to stop in more often, just forget to!

When hubby gets home I am going to go to the gym and swim. I joined Fitness works and until I meet with one of the trainers gonna stay in the pool!! I do love swimming so it's ok!

Took advantage of the cooler temps this morning...Max (my dog) and I went for 3+ mile walk this morning. We kept it at a brisk pace for the first 2 miles...so it was a good workout. I think I go into 'mourning' when it gets too hot to walk outdoors.... emoticon

SHKIRK - Did you you know that if you go to "Article & Videos" then click on "Fitness", scroll down to 'fitness maps' put in the address of where you start your walk. Be sure you keep track of your time on your walk, then you plot out your walk, see how many miles you walked, put down the time and 'calculate' the calories you burned. Also if you look under the map to the right there is button you can click on that puts your walk and calories burned on your fitness tracker.
What school do you work at each day? I am a retired Mesa teacher and taught at Field Elementary for 25 of those years.

Shkirk - Unfortunately I can no longer jog (knee issues) so I now walk as fast as I can for 30 sec. then walk for at quick pace for 4 min. till I walk 3.2 miles around the retirement community. However with the temps. lately it is getting to warm for me to walk...time to go to the workout room and get on a treadmill.

hello! I'm new to the daily chit chat. Just want to state the obvious, it is getting very hot now when I walk outside. I must stay healthy and continue to walk anyways, but man do I gotta make sure to remember the sun screen from now, I looked like a crab after my last outdoor activity. emoticon Staying healthy not just with exercise but with sunblock too, those UV rays are killer.

I survived mad cow disease, bird flu, Y2K, 9/11, 6/6/2006, swine flu, 5/21, 10/21, & 11/11/2011. BRING IT ON 2012!!!

Well hello all just getting into the boards been on sparks for 2 weeks now and down 5 lbs ... I hope to lose 40 lbs by july 19 I know thats unrealistic but I like to set my goals high I know thats not what sparks does but if i give myself an easy goal I will excuse the eating bad. Yes 2 weeks only 1 whopper day (neighbor got me 2 day started sparks I wasnt thinking) and my homade hamberger day (comeon my homemade hambergers well more like meatloaf hamberger form .. ) Its good to see some here in mesa and losing too gives me hope ...

How's the weight going with the stress of moving in with your sister and looking for a place to live. Are there 3 bedroom apartments out there? Thought most apartments were 1 or 2 bedrooms.

SHKIRK - Don't to be shocked that I am joining the conversation... emoticon A couple of years ago, I had daily conversation with myself...
I read that you're detoxing...if you check out my Spark page you'll see where I originally weighed 320 lbs. I know am around 171 lbs. Long journey that's for sure...I have 10 lbs. to go and those are the toughest. I have gone to eating 500 calories 2x/week, well I try...but I found too that once I got past a certain point during the day, I wasn't hungry.
Good luck with the rest of the detox.

Abby - WTG on the success of packing lunches, and of course coming home makes it even better, as long as your choices are good one, but I trust you will make those choices! Great to see you've been able to find a fit for English!

My goal is to stop losing and gaining the same 4-6 lbs. Once I have that under control, then my goal is to lose 5 lbs. and go in increments of 5 lbs. till the 20 are gone! Doable and manageable goals. Hugs to the Munchkins!

JoAnn- lunches are going pretty good. I packed celery with peanut butter and carrots and a pack of fruit snacks Monday. Last week Wed. I packed crap and snacks. It was all I had at home. Tomorrow I'm packing celery with peanut butter and carrots again with some nuts. I will also be able to come home by lunch time with the new schedule that will help a lot.

JoAnn- School is good just now got on the computer for something other than homework in a week. I'm starting to get a schedule down which is nice. I finally got an English teacher that will work with my personality. And you know me if I think it I say it. I have never heard that movie before I'll have to tell Jake about it and see if we can see it.

June - That is great that you are going to train for the race. I can no longer run with bad knee, but I love to walk. Hope you find someone train with, it makes the time go by much quicker!

Abby - Bruce and I went to see The Iron Lady (Movie), I really liked it, Meryl Streep does an excellent job. How is school going? How are you doing with lunches?

Anyone running or thinking of running in Pat Tillman's run on April 21? I'd love to but want to start training after February 10 (when we return from vacation).

Hey Abby...the challenge of lunch! Till you find out what they have stick with fruits/veggies, along with rolled up slices of turkey or chicken low sodium cold cuts. If you like hummus bring some of that for the veggies for a dip. How about tuna? I really enjoy tuna made with reduced calorie miracle whip or mayo and use celery sticks to dip into the tuna. Frozen fruit will be thawed by lunch and throw it in low fat Greek vanilla yogurt. Bring a 1/4 c. of a crunchy cereal to put on top of the yogurt/fruit. Good luck!
