Good morning. I was going to stat a February check in thread but thought I'd wait and let CindySue do it if she wants.

Ended up at 46 net yesterday. I would have been better but I ate half an apple. At least it was something healthy.

My knee is throbbing this morning. I'm not even sure if I'll make it to do my Monday shopping. I'll get to Krogers and go from there if I think I can make it. Right now all I really need is meat and cheese.

I'll update everyone tomorrow when I get done with the dr visit.

I didn't have to work today so I've been doing little chores but I have to keep stopping to sit down. My goal is to try to do something today even if it's just some strength exercises. We will see how it goes.

Sure - jump in anywhere and keep us updated on your progress.

I have been taking some long walks the past week or so. I'm getting off the bus early and walking close to a mile to get to work in the mornings and the last 2 nights I walked over a mile to meet my husband downtown after work. We are having a really mild winter here (sorry!) and it has been great for walking.

Hi Folks. I don't know if this is the right place to post this---or if it's even Ok to jump in on a monthly challenge so late in the game as this, but will give it a shot anyway.

I challenge myself to ride my recumbent bike at least 15 minutes everyday, 5 times a week.

This is my third day doing it.

Thanks----------Georgia

Thanks WW - it was a pretty good day. Read for a while, did some laundry, ran some errands. Ate on plan:

cals 1448
carbs 23
protein 95
water 80oz

No real exercise though. It was raining cats & dogs here today. We had some major road closures due to mud slides and trees down due to heavy winds. I really did not feel like going out there.

Morticia, I'm glad Squeaker is doing better post op than last time. I hope the pain will quickly vanish. Glad our concern gives you moral support--we do care. Critters are family, too.

Curly, your calories and water were great, though. That should help with the moderate overage in carbs.

My neighbor thought protein cancels out carbs because she misunderstood. She thought low carbers deduct grams of protein from total carbs to get net carbs. Try it HER way--you'll love those numbers! If only we COULD do that and fool our bodies and scales into thinking it works. LOL

Squeaker made it through the surgery and didn't have any of the weakness in her back legs and falling over post op like she did with the first surgery. She is eating some on her own and we are feeding her. She is still drooling a little and gagging a lot and in pain but it is still early so hopefully each day will be better. Thanks for your support, you guys. You are the best and always make me feel better. My wonderful spark friends. emoticon

Morticia, how is Squeaker since the surgery? How are YOU? Did you get any sleep last night? Will you need to be nursing the critter around the clock?

You see - that just proves I am losing it - I posted the stats I meant to post here on the other January Challenge thread. Thank you Marilyn.

Morticia - I will be thinking of you today and hoping that your trip goes smoothly. Best wishes to the chinchillas on a speedy recovery.

I stayed just within my carb goal yesterday. (Darn condiments! Who knew horseradish was so high in carbs!) I had an odd mealplan yesterday - we went for a walk in the morning to get breakfast, but I was really starving when I woke up ( ah, ketosis!) so I had a snack before we left the house and took my vitamins. Then we walked about a mile to a restaurant where I had a a side of eggs and a side of bacon only, then we walked back. I didn't really eat lunch, but I had a small piece of chicken as a snack @ 3:30, then corned beef, cabbage & carrots for dinner.

Sunday:

Cals - 1285
carbs - 25
protein - 98
water - 80oz

I am losing my mind (how many lbs would that take off??) I really thought I had posted my stats here on thursday & friday. I did enter my food, but I didn't post it here.

Anyway I have remained under 25 grams of carb/day cals @ 1200 - 1600 water intake has been good. I got some walking in thurs & today, took Fri & sat off from walking.

Pain pill and heating pad helped a lot. BF ended up doing the snow so I wouldn't have to. Then today, no work because the roads were too bad and they didn't need me. So paycheck will bite next week. Oh well. I'm not going to stress on it-yet.

Hello. It is really snowing right now. Knee pain or not, I need to get the snow blower out but it is snowing too hard to bother right now.

Other than that, my knees are killing me so bad I had to come home from work and take a pain pill. That took the edge off. Is it spring yet emoticon ?

So far, so good - Stuck to meat & veggies for dinner and drank more water than I have been.

Today I've had bacon & 1 egg for breakfast, vitamins & water. I have a salad and boneless chicken thigh for lunch.

I have got to stop eating so many nuts every day. I am swearing off on nut snacks for this challenge.

Cindy, my son loves low carb too. There is very little he misses other than pasta. He has never asked me to make him a separate dish. He even loves when I try new recipes. We both laugh because we know my husband will look at his plate and say "What is THIS???" LOL.

Ah, you are too nice, Curly. My son and I like the low carb life. My husband gripes about all the salad sometimes and we just ignore him. I'm not making two separate meals. This diet is healthy and he can eat it or not. Send you step son here for a couple of weeks. He'll be begging to come back to you. LOL. emoticon

We are glad to have you back and on plan. 10 pounds isn't too bad for being off plan for 7 months really.

I did mostly good over the weekend (at my daughter's) but kind of fell face first into the carbs today.

Very frustrated, trying to find a suit for an interview....apparently no one wears skirts today! Finally bought a skirt and jacket, but ended up with black, which was the one color I did not want. Found some beautiful suits, but very expensive and I found I needed a smaller size for the top. If the bottom has to be smaller I think it's a bit easier. Ended up spending just over $50, so that's not too bad. Nice read shirt to go with it, so at least I'll have some color.

Welcome back Marilyn!! We missed you!!

My son moved back in with me over the summer and will be back in February....and he LOVES my diet!! Steak, pork chops, fish, etc two meals a day! He loved it!! Twice I made him a separate carb....once rice, once pasta, then he told me to not bother! Funny thing....he gained weight!! He is very underweight, so it was good....but yea, he gained 5# in about a month!

Well here I am - late as usual and way off plan. I'm getting back on track though.

Marilyn - good to see you again. I am also starting from square one with the exercise. But I need to start doing something!

I have been eating like I'd never heard of Low Carb for about the past 7 weeks. My step son moved back in with us and I started cooking regular dinners again instead of just looking out for me (most of the time) I can make this work eating low carb and he can keep his wise cracks (and all the extra carbs) to himself.

I've gained 10 lbs over the past year and I mean to lose it all again.

Curly

WW, that's wonderful that you control your diabetes through keeping carbs to Induction levels! Congrats to ya.

Nancy, I lucked out when my Wal-Mart store quit carrying my Sweet Freedom black raspberry ice cream bars. There's no other kind I can be trusted with--so I've gotten over my ice cream cravings. I commend you for your willpower.

Congrats to you all for doing so well.

I love ice cream too. I have to talk myself out of getting it every time I am at Culver's or some other place like that.

Good morning. Not much happening here. I usually go grocery shopping on Monday but due to a minor set back, I'll go later this week. I really don't need anything and this will give me a chance to use up some of the stuff I already have before getting fresh.

I did pretty good yesterday with 31 net.

Marilyn-Induction is pretty strict but I did it successfully once. If I set my mind to it I can do it again. That is part of why I'm not going to the store. I will automatically get my ice cream. If I don't have it, I can't eat it. I've always had a thing for ice cream and I'd like to cut it back out of my diet but lack the willpower to.

Hi Marilyn and everyone. It's frigid here too. 7 degrees right now. I really do hate winter!!

Sounds like everyone is doing well. I did great yesterday - worked all day till 8 P.M. and ate on plan.

Thanks for the welcome back!

It's mighty cold here, too--like 20 degrees, but it feels colder with the wind blowing.

Congrats on everyone doing well on the January Check in Challenge.

I've never done Induction, Nancy--looked to strict for me to stick with. When I've been off the wagon or on a plateau too long, I often do just low carb protein shakes for breakfast and lunch and then a balanced low carb dinner the first few days to jumpstart my weight loss. I didn't do it this time, though.

Did 1176 calories yesterday with 18.9 net carbs and 128.9g protein. I'm aiming for a max of 1500 calories--being busy just kept me away from my usual "grazing." Deliberately worked on my protein, though to get it up.

No formal exercise (and no formal excuse) but I promise myself to do some today.

Nancy, I love your new avatar!!!

Welcome back, Marilyn!! We do miss you!!

I ended up with almost the same calories!! But a lot more carbs.

It's pretty cold to get outside and exercise anyway. I'm as tough as a hard tack but it is even bothering me. The cold air bothers my lungs but I do it anyway.

Have a great day, everybody!!

Hello, everyone! Happy new year to all of you!

For those of you who don't know me, I joined this team very shortly after it first started and occasionally fall away from posting. Morticia came looking for me. Boy, can she crack a whip! LOL Just kidding. It was more of a personal gold-engraved invitation. Thanks, friend. emoticon

I did well on food yesterday. Wound up with 1173 calories, 24.5 net carbs and 85.9g protein. Want to get my protein up to 100-120g but that shouldn't be hard to do.

Baby steps on the exercise, but you all accept that from me--thanks for that.

It is finally up to 15. It got up to 20 yesterday and I got 2 hours of exercise in. And I ate on plan and well under my carbs and calories and was satisfied.

Woo Hoo to Cindy for the 8 lbs. lost! I'm back on track today and trying to lose the 2 lbs I gained since Thanksgiving. I proud of myself though that I didn't gain more. I tried to watch. I'm ready for a challenge....so bring them on.

I made it til 11:30 last night, but then fell asleep. My husband woke me up to tell me Happy New Year and I think I remember mumbling something back to him...lol. My sister called a 7:40 a.m. to say Happy New Year too. Needless to say I was not quite as chipper with her (was mumbling to her too..lol)

Happy New Year!! Woo Hoo!!

Let's hope this year is better than the last!!!

Started out today getting weighed and lost 8 of the 12 pounds I'd gained!! Of course that's mostly water as it's only been 5 days, but I'll take it!!

Off too have Christmas with my daughter this weekend. And will be spending many hours working on a presentation for an interview.

Planning on starting a challenge on Wednesday and you all probably won't hear much from me until then.

Hope you all have a great weekend and a fantastic 2010!!

I made it until midnight but ended up not sleeping well. I'm having some sinus and inner ear issues.

We are having our traditional New Year's Day meal - it's healthy but not real low carb but I will be on plan the rest of the day. I should still come in within my carb range for the day.

HAPPY NEW YEAR everyone. I did not make it to watch the new year come in. I was in bed at 10:15. Such a party pooper.

I didn't do too bad yesterday. I stayed on track all day then last night I had a 1.5x1.5 piece of chocolate cake. I really have to get the night time eating under control again.

I have my DANDR out and will be refreshing my brain. I got this BIGGEST LOSER Wii "game" for Christmas. Last night was a challenge. So my workout was -standing mountain climbers and wood chops followed by some yoga for my cool down.

Water was good. I got in 64 ounces and my goal today is to drink at least 80 ounces.

Have a great day.

Oh and we are having steaks on the grill with stuffed peppers wrapped in bacon. I'm using Anaheim peppers which I've never used before. They didn't have any jalapeños.
