Good morning Spooky ladies! Wow how time flies when you are having fun with a great group of ladies! I want to thank you all for being there for me this month through all the rough times. I hope that I have held up to my end of the bargain of being there for each of you.

Andrea, you are an asset to any team. I would gladly team up with you any time. Don't you worry once you are on my friends list I don't forget you even if we are not on the same team. I will always be here for you!

Linda, it is that time again! It seems that we been through this routine a few times. You are a inspiration to me. You don't let disability stop you from reaching for what you want.

Sheila, I am so glad you returned to us. You are a great lady. Your support and kindness has helped me through some really tough times.

Barbara, I can't explain how I admire you and your commitment to getting and staying healthy. I find that you inspire me to work harder towards my goals.

CJ, you have shown me that even while suffering from migraines, You never give up. A lesson I needed to learn about myself.

Ann, I wish you all the speed and luck in every race you run!

You each have a special place in my heart!

Good morning! It is kind of bitter sweet that the month is almost over! This has actually been the first challenge that I started AND finished. AND I LOST 5 POUNDS THIS MONTH! I am very proud of myself. Also, I thought yesterday was Friday, so I totaled my points a little prematurely! I will get back on today and make some changes!

Other than that, I am very glad it is Friday. I have quite a bit of homework this weekend, but I am not going to stress about it. I think that takes more out of me than actually sitting down and doing it. Worrying is very exhausting!!

Sheila- I think when your eyes hurt or are swollen, that is almost worse than anything else! I feel your pain as I seem to always have some sort of pink eye. Hope it gets better soon!

Ann- I asked for a stationary bike for Christmas from my BF! I think it will definitely help my bad knees, plus I can't run when it is snowing. How long do you usually do it for? Doesn't it hurt your butt ;)

CJ- I am SO glad that you enjoyed your seminar. It sounds like a very fulfilling thing to listen to!

Debbie- I am sorry to hear about Ray heading back to the hospital. Luckily, it wasn't a heart attack and he is back home already! Praying for you and Ray (and Katie ;)

Linda- It has been great getting to know you too! I hope that you are feeling better soon. You deserve some relief ASAP!

I want to thank all of you for your encouraging words throughout this entire month. I have never met a better group of women in life OR on Spark! I love each and every one of you! And even if we aren't on the same teams for next month, I hope we keep in touch!

xoxo -Andrea

I am stopping to say hi to all! I have spent the last 4 hours at VA hospital with Ray. We orignally thought he was having possible heart attack. Fortunately his blood sugar crashed. I never knew the symptoms could be so similar. He is home now an sleeping. We think the insurance has been straightened out at least for now.

I will be back on tomorrow I hope early so I can finally get caught up with everyone!

Sherry, we understand about taking a break. You will be missed while you are gone. We will be here when you come back.

Sheila, I hope the eye is better. Being legally blind I understand how you feel. I have to use different eye drops.

I have truly enjoyed this team this month! I hope that I will get on a team with you again some time. It would be nice if we went out with a Win.

HUGS

Hello Friends - Here we are at the end of another week and I'm just realizing that our October Challenge is almost done. I feel so grateful to you for the support and understanding you have shown. Thank you.

For those of you who asked about the seminar -- Richard Rohr is a Franciscan who writes and presents trainings centering on helping people connect to the contemplative traditions in order to be personal instruments of peaceful change in the world. The theme of his presentation was: "Restoring Sacred Balance: The convergence of contemplative traditions and social action." Many of those present are actively engaged in community service and social justice outreach in Oregon and from quite a diverse group of faith traditions. It was inspiring to experience. It was so very worthwhile and I feel privileged to have been able to go today. Stephanie was able to get time off work as well so we have the opportunity to share what we have learned together. Right now - my heart and head are full and my body is Very tired. emoticon

Linda - Yes, I guess it does seem like my days are crammed with activity. Actually -- it's just that everything seemed to come all in this last week!! I am looking forward to some recuperation time.

Andrea - I think I'm ready for my own mental health day, too. Even good things can stress my capacities to adapt. You are so wise to take the time when you need it. It's a good reminder for me. Thanks.

Barb - Glad you got to Zumba. I missed my line dancing today - so I put on my Rock & Roll cd and rocked out on my own!

Sheila - oh my! your poor eyes. And of course, it would be the one you have the best vision in. I hope the medicine keeps helping and they recover quickly.

Sherry - Hello - so good to hear from you and know the conference is useful to you. I trust your choice about the November Challenge. WIshing you all that sustains you, my friend.

Debbie - Thinking of you and Ray. Hope you are getting some rest, too.

Ann - I am picturing you on your bike watching the news. I'm wondering if there were some news items that helped you get your heart rate up? lol Congrats on stabilizing your weight. You sound ready for the Nov.6th race. I'm cheering for you. emoticon

I'm going to read some blogs and crawl between the covers.

Good evening fellow spooky ladies! Got on my stationary bike for a while this evening while I watched the news then did my physical therapy exercises and some stretching. Another healthy eating day! I'm only two pounds from my goal for my race now, but not likely to drop that much before Nov. 6, race day.

@Sheila, I hope your eye heals up completely. It would frustrate me to no end to not be able to see clearly. Glad to hear it's on the mend.

@Sherry, it has been good to share some time with you this month. I know I benefitted from taking a few weeks off from the challenges.

@Andrea, so good to hear you feel refreshed after your day to yourself. I think it takes more out of me worrying about how far behind I am on things than doing the actual tasks.

@Barbara, hope you had fun at the football game. I've been hungry, too.

@Linda, yes, where has the time gone? It has flown by.

@Debbie, hope your day has gone as well as it could. Thinking of you & Ray & Katie.

@CJ, hope you got outside again today. I miss living in the Pacific NW (my children grew up in Seattle). We had a beautiful day here today, mainly because the Santa Anas came (luckily mildly) and the humidity dropped & the air cleared out.

In case we don't get on here much more this week, I want to say that I'm so very glad I joined the last two weeks of the challenge for October because I've gotten so much out of it! We're all in different places geographically and health-wise, but the fact that we can come together and share our journey and support one another just makes my heart warm. Each of you are such wonderful women--I hope you know how much you contribute individually and when it all comes together, there's a synergy that multiplies it. Thank you! Thank you! emoticon

Hello, all!
No, I didnít disappear - Iíve been having problems with swelling in my eye and had to wear a very thick eye patch that my glasses wonít fit over. Of course, the eye patch is over my ďgoodĒ eye and I canít see the computer screen without glasses due to the poor vision in the eye Iíve been using! Anyway, the new drops have brought the swelling down, the pain and headache are gone, and I can wear my glasses again - so - Iím back.

Sherry ~ I fully understand your need to take a break. We all need to do that in many areas of our lives at times.

Barbara ~ I hope your grandsonís team does well. Tomorrow night is the last season game for our local high school team. I though about going, but rain is in the forecast, along with a temp in the low forties.! I know Iíd feel different if I knew kids on the team this year, but none of my ex-students are on the team - so Iím staying in and am going to watch A Gifted Man and CSI: New York while snacking on some air-popped popcorn (no butter!).

Linda ~ I wonder where the year has gone, too! The days sure went fast, didnít they! Weíre starting into late fall/winter here and actually have snow in the forecast for late next week. I AM NOT looking forward to winter driving conditions. I live in an area that is considered part of the Lake Erie snowbelt and we often get hit with deeper snows than most areas in Ohio. This winter is predicted to be one of the coldest and snowiest in a long time. BRR!

CJ ~ Iím going to google Richard Rohr to learn more about what youíre learning about in your seminar.

Ann ~ Doesnít solving an ďimpossible problemĒ make you feel great and empowered! Good for you. Iím having trouble with my food right now so recently purchased a few new cook books, including Sparkís and one from the Heart/Diabetes Associations. I need to start planning my food at least a week at a time instead of relying upon ďcatch as catch canĒ meals!

Debbie ~ I hope the insurance question gets worked out! I just fought a battle with the insurance company over one of my eye laser procedures - they said it was ďunnecessaryĒ since Iíd had cataract surgery. It took the doctor writing and calling to make them understand that I would lose my vision without the surgery and they finally accepted the claim!

Andrea ~ Donít feel at all guilty about the mental health day and calling in sick. When you are tired and stressed you donít do your best at work anyway - so you will improve your work by taking the day for yourself! I often found I needed to take one once in awhile when I was teaching.

Hi all, I have SO missed being on here. I have been doing okay -- not great, but okay this week. Usually more steps than I would expect at a mostly sit down conference, but we do walk to a few places, usually for meals :)

I will not be turning in points this week, so you have my thoughts and best wishes for a great end to this wonderful month.

I am getting some good out of this conference, but better still is the opportunity to see and visit with colleagues I might not see otherwise. Thanks to the proximity of the location, several dozen of people from out in the state were able to attend, and that helps A LOT with camaraderie for us all.

Weather here has been wonderful, though temps dropped about 20 degrees between Monday evening and Tuesday evening. Still, nice to be away from the office desk yet close enough via Internet to feel like emergencies (there haven't been any for me) can be attended to in a timely manner.

I have enjoyed being part of this team and wish everyone well over the next couple of days as we finish. I'm not counting on being able to be on here again before our week/month is done, so if it does happen I will be happy.

I think I will take off November from the challenges. Not because I don't want to do it, but because I think I will value it more by making myself be away from teammates and consistent time on the site for a while. Kind of a self-imposed moratorium, if you will. The whole "absence makes the heart grow fonder; you don't always realize what you have until you don't have it" kind of mindset.

Thanks to each of you for bearing with me and encouraging me this month. I wish the same, just more of it, for you.

Sherry

Good morning!

Back at work today and definitely feel refreshed! I got quite a bit done yesterday and it felt good just to have a day all to myself. It is amazing what 12 hours of alone time can do to your energy levels!

Debbie- I am glad that Ray is sleeping. His body needs to rest to heal! And you can use some alone time too!

Ann- I bet you are exhausted! At least you still got your run in!

CJ- Sounds like a good seminar to be at! Hopefully you can beat the traffic and congestion though!

Barb- I am glad you get to rest today! Maybe you won't feel so tired and sore.

Sorry this is so short! I have quite a bit of work to do! Talk to you soon!

xoxo -Andrea

Good morning my friends. I woke up a little tired and sore this morning so I am happy that today is mostly a rest day for me other than a couple of short walks. I've been doing fairly well on my food this week, but I seem to be hungry and tired so I am thinking I need to adjust what I eat somehow so that will be my goal for this weekend - to look into it. Tonight is my grandson's last football game so it will be a late night for me so most likely this will be my only chat today.

@ Ann - I hope you got a good night's sleep. Way to go on solving the impossible problem at work. That is always a great feeling!

@Debbie - I hope each day is getting better for both you and Ray and that all of the insurance stuff gets straightened out. I hate the bureaucratic stuff and especially when it involves medical issues!

Zumba was amazing last night. It was weird because i didn't sweat as much, but I really felt I got a good workout - especially the legs which is why I am super glad no strenght workout today!

@Andrea - I hope you were able to get a lot done on your mental health day! My favorite apples are Fuji apples too. We always have apples in the house and my husband makes the best unsweetened applesauce!

@ my other Spook friends - have an amazing day and I hope all is going well with you.

I will chat at you again tomorrow.

Hi Everyone - I'm checking in after an evening seminar - it seemed like it took forever to get home through all the traffic. Have to up really early for the rest of the seminar tomorrow. It is given by Richard Rohr from the Center for Action and Contemplation. Tonight was terrific so I'm excited to be going - but it is tiring fighting the crowds, etc. I'll catch up with everyone as soon as possible. Thinking of you all, Hugs, CJ

I'm totally exhausted, so I'm going to do this quickly then go to bed. I hope to do the things for work I need to get done before I leave in the morning. I solved a problem in a meeting this morning that they had thought was impossible, so that made me feel good.

I got my run in after work then a quick run to the store for more veggies. I'm sticking with this new calorie range OK but I'll be glad a week from Friday when I can eat more than usual (but still healthy food!) in preparation for my race. I never like to eat much the day before a race, as it causes problems for me. I focus the day before on hydrating thoroughly.

@Debbie, good to see you on here. I hope your insurance stuff gets straightened out easily. It's always that bureaucratic stuff that comes at you when you're trying to handle an illness that really knocks you for a loop. Hang in there & continue with the good self-care!

@Barbara, hope you had a good zumba!

@Andrea, I hope you had a productive day. My preferred apples are from Washington State. This is the season for them for sure! We're having all our favorites. My husband loves the Fuji. I love the Braeburn, Cameo, and Granny Smith. I bought some Pippin for cooking, hadn't seen them in years but our food co-op had some. We've also been enjoying fresh pears of many varieties, Bartlett & Anjou, mostly. DH loves the Red Barletts, so if I want one, I have to hide it!

@Linda, I found a Scottish oat biscuit made by Nairn's in the store the other day. Boy, those are good! But I must ration them, as I'd eat the entire box! Do you know them? They aren't quite digestives but a bit similar.

@CJ, sounds like you had an awesome walk.

@Sheila & Sherry, thinking of you both.

Hope everyone had a great Wednesday!

Good evening Spooky Ladies! I thought I would try to get caught up while Ray is taking a nap! He is still sleeping quite a bit. I think the medication is causing the drowsiness. The nurse came by today at 2pm set up his iv, cleaned and dressed the wound. He also told us that he might not be back tomorrow. Seems that VA and Secure Horizons are having a little discussion as to who should be paying for the Home Health Care for the next 4 to 6 weeks. We will find out for sure tomorrow afternoon.

Linda, it sounds like you are improving so well. I am so happy for you.

Barbara, good for you getting all your exercise in, and eating right! I have been exercising an I seem to finally got my eating back under control the last two days.

Andrea, enjoy your mental health day. Get that homework done! LOL

Ann, really liked you blog and the quote!

Good morning to the best BSG team! I think everyone is such a blessing! I woke up a little tired today, but I have zumba tonight which I really like so at least I will get in my exercise. I am so hoping that I can see the results of my hard efforts of exercise and eating come Saturday weigh-in day. I wrote my blog last night so I will try to get it posted tonight.

@ CJ emoticon on getting in an enjoyable walk.

@ Ann - your treat sounds so yummy. It has been a long time since I have had baked apples but they sound delicious so I may have to try one soon.

@ Linda - so glad that you see to be feeling better with each day. They say sleep is healing so maybe that is what your body needs right now. Hopefully you'll soon be able to eat normally and your nutrition will be back to normal too. It is awesome that you like fish so well. I am not overly fond of fish, but we do have baked salmon about once a month.

@ Andrea - enjoy your mental health day! I hope that you are able to get caught up on your homework so you can not be stressed about it. Enjoy your run this afternoon. I am sure after spending the day doing homework you will really need it.

Good Morning Loves!

I actually took a "mental health" day from work today- aka calling in sick. I just needed a little bit more time to myself. The whole thing with my brother and all this homework has taken quite a bit out of me. At first I felt guilty about calling in sick, but now that I am at home, snuggled in my pajamas and ready to tackle my homework, I knew it was the right thing to do. Sometimes, we just need a mental health day to get back to where we need to be! I didn't run this morning, but I am planning on heading out once the weather clears up! Should be a nice, relaxing thing after hours of homework! emoticon

Debbie- I think you and Ray have a right to be cranky! Although, I am glad you got out with Katie. I am sure she was happy to be out watching the squirrels! Whenever I am cranky, my BF asks me if it is that time of month. That just makes me more angry! So, hopefully, Ray was able to make you feel better once you got home!

Barb- I am SOOOOO happy that you had another amazing day! You are on a role, girl! emoticon

Ann- Apples with cinnamon sounds really good! I will have to try that. Here in Wisconsin, October is the best time for apples, so I will have to go to the orchard and get some good ones. I'm not sure about California, but fall in Wisconsin is the best time of year!

CJ- You got in a quite a bit of walking!!! I can't even imagine walking that much while I am at work! But, I give you a ton of credit!!! I will have to check out the Community Acupuncture Network. Thanks for the tip!

Linda- I am also SOOOO glad that you are feeling better and stronger every day, even if you aren't getting enough sleep ;) You have been working so hard!

I also want to thank all of you for your sweet comments on my blog! They brighten up my day and let me know that I have amazing, supportive friends here on Spark.

Well, off to homework! Hugs and kisses! Andrea

Hello Spookers - I got so into reading your posts I forgot that I hadn't actually posted a response myself! emoticon Guess that tells you about where the little gray cells are today. Actually I've been out walking - a lot. It was total fog this morning and by noon it had all cleared away and was bright sunshine so I took advantage and explored some places in my neighborhood I haven't been before. People have decorated for halloween and that was fun to see.

Linda - I don't like taking pain pills myself but it sounds like they are helping you. WooHoo - You got your Spark recipe book! I'm wondering if you turned to the baking part first. : )

Andrea - Listening to your body and resting when you need to sounds like a very healthy strategy. Good for you. About acupuncture. I get very good results - before I started it I was not able to walk at all without excruciating nerve pain and needed more pain drugs than I wanted to use. Now I'm off all pain meds except for migraine medication. I'm not pain free all the time, but it is helping me keep moving and that's a plus. The drive I just did would have been impossible a year ago. And yes, it is very relaxing - I often sleep for part of the time. (They cover you with a snuggy blanket and play quiet, soothing music which helps too). I go to a Community Acupuncture clinic which has a sliding fee scale and you pay what you can afford. They might have them where you live. If you are interested you can check online at Community Acupuncture Network.

Barbara - Yes, it is turning colder. You are sure getting in some good exercise. And you stayed in calorie range. Way to Go!

Debbie - Well at our house we always say that being cranky is a sure sign that a person is getting better - so I'm guessing this is a good thing. It is so stressful watching a loved one hurting - no wonder you are feeling exhausted. You did well in taking a break and I'm hoping you will continue to get the "me" time you need. Blessings to your kind neighbor. And I think people do feel blessed when there is something they can do to help. And sweet Katie - she understands, doesn't she. emoticon

Ann - Your idea for baked apple sounds scrumptious - I can almost smell the aroma across the internet! And congrats to you on moving the scale downward. Feels good -- AND you get to count any of those pounds for our challenge. Double win. Yay!

The day's about over for me & I haven't posted for our spooktacular team yet!

I'm very proud of myself because I bought ice cream Saturday & have been rationing it out one small bit (2 tablespoons)--measured each time! Tonight and last night I baked one apple's worth of slices (sprinkled with a little cinnamon) in the oven while I ate dinner then put the small bit of ice cream on the hot apples for dessert. As long as the evenings stay cool, I think I've stumbled on something I could make a habit of! It's so good!

I've been doing well keeping up my exercising, too, and staying in my calorie range, so I've been continuing to shed weight I gained traveling since August.

@Debbie, I think you were smart to get out of the house & do something for yourself. Sometimes we just need to give ourselves a break!

@Sherry, I trust you're getting your steps in while you're away. Hope the sessions are interesting.

@Andrea, a rest day can do wonders. I try to take one every week, but sometimes I just want to keep pushing, but there's always the danger that I'll overdo.

@Linda, hope you continue to improve your ability to eat normally without pain. The rest will come in time, I'm sure.

@Barbara, yes be careful with your shoulder! Pacing yourself is the best way to go!

@Sheila, I hope all went OK today with your friend.

@CJ, glad to hear you're feeling better after your long drive. Sleeping in your own bed is always good, isn't it? I'd love to see a blog about the horses.

Well, I'm going to try to get some sleep now. Sweet dreams everyone!

Good evening my Spook friends. I have had another amazing day. I am pretty sure I have stayed within my calorie range and eaten some of the super foods recommended by another group. I went for two walking breaks, 35 minutes strength at noon and another 30 minute walk after work with my hubby. I must be getting stronger because my legs didn't hurt nearly as bad at the gym today and I even upped some of the arm weights, but I don't want to up them too much and re-injure my shoulder.

@ Debbie - emoticon my dear friend. I am so sorry to hear that your day wasn't the greatest. Thank you to a very dear neighbor. You shouldn't feel bad accepting the help of your friend and neighbor - being the caregiver is difficult in the best of circumstances. You do need to take care of yourself so good job on gettng in a walk with Katie and taking time to look at the beautiful Fall colors (and squirrels). So glad you made up quickly! I am sure that Ray understands and feels just as badly as you do about the crankiness. You should never feel like you are complaining. I am sure everyone understands the frustrations.

I hope that you will figure out a way to get back on your Wii Fit Plus and Just Dance. I am sure that would help make you feel better too!

@ Linda - It is awesome news that you are feeling better. I pray that you take care and don't over do.

Well, my friends I need to go and get some other things done so I hope you all have a fabulous and restful evening.

Hugs,
Barbie

Afternoon Spooky ladies! It hasn't been the greatest of days today! Ray and I have both been cranky. It got to the point I asked my friend and neighbor to come over an sit with Ray. While I took a long walk with Katie. We went to the park and walked and walked then we sat the swing and just looked at the pretty Fall colors. Though I think Katie was more into watching the squirrels. We were gone about 2 hours and I felt much better when I back home. I know Ray is cranky because he can't do what he wants, We made up as soon as I got home. Our neighbor has offered to come by an help with Ray. I don't like to put anyone to the trouble. I glad he is home and shouldn't be complaining. I guess I am more tired than I thought.

Barbara, good for you getting all that exercise in. I need to find time to get back on my Wii Fit Plus and Just Dance. The walking is good but I feel I am missing something!

linda, I am happy to hear you are feeling better and able to eat better. Don't over do it let that shoulder heal. Take care my friend!

Andrea, and Ann, I too envy your love to run. I wish I could run like I did when I was a kid.

Sheila, CJ, and Sherry, I hope that the three of you are having a fabulous week. Hope to catch up with you tomorrow. I just need to get some sleep right now.

Good morning my friends. It got quite cold durng the night, but so far it is still dry which is better, at least I think it is. I was so tired last night, but we went to bed a little early and I slept good so not too bad this morning. I plan to get out for my walk on my break this morning, taking a jacket and all. Today is gym day at noon for strenght and I hope to do some more cardio after work.

@ CJ - glad you had a sunny day and were able to get in a good walk. I've never had acupuncture, but I am glad that it helped you after the long drive over the weekend. A blog about the gift horses have to give would be awesome.

@ Linda - I am glad you are starting to feel better, but you are so wise to take it easy this week. I hope you are able to get off the painkillers soon. If you're like me they make me loopy. So glad you are getting your confidence back and that you are planning to have the Army buddies over at your place over New Year. Sounds fun!

Well, all, have an awesome day - that's my plan for today!

Good morning, Spooks. As much as my mind wanted to run today, my body did not! So, I took that extra hour to sleep and snuggle close to my bf and kittens. I think my body and mind really needed it, so hopefully if it stops raining, I can head out for a longer run after work and before I crack down on homework.

Barb- I think all of us could use some days off, but I am so happy you had a great day yesterday! It does make for a better day when you stay on track!

Debbie- I am glad that Ray is home and doing well! Now, you rest a bit and take care of yourself!

Sheila- Sounds like you have a busy day ahead! 5 hours in a waiting room is not ideal, but maybe walking around will help break up the time! Prayers with you and your friend!

CJ- Acupuncture? Does it actually help? I don't think I could relax enough to actually do that. I have a hard time with massage because I am either too tense or I fall asleep and don't remember it haha.

Linda- I am happy that you had a better day and that you are beginning to feel a little bit better. You definitely deserve some relief!

Well, off to work. Hopefully I can stay awake!

xoxo -Andrea

Hello Spookies - Today was sunny and I was able to get outside for a good walk. Also went for acupuncture which helped so much after all the driving I did over the week-end. Yes, we had a great time with the horses. All have been rescued and are in various stages of rehab. Part of the program is to give the horses time as a herd. Many have been isolated from other horses and when they are together they help each other recover. When they are doing well they are available to work with humans as therapy horses. None of the ones I have worked with are able to be ridden, but they have a lot to offer people who have themselves been traumatized. I spent special time with a quarter horse named Beau. I'm wondering if I should write a blog about the gifts horses have for me.

Sheila - Good for you getting some outdoor walking today. I'm hoping for some more sunshine tomorrow. At this time of year I know the days to be outside are limited. What will Peaches do when it gets wintery?

Debbie - Oh happy day! I'm so glad to hear that Ray is home and he got a royal welcome from everyone! How reassuring that he will be receiving check-ins from the Visiting Nurse -- that way his progress will be closely monitored.

Barbara - You did have a healthy day - walking zumba and eating well. Yay!

Andrea - A shooting star!! What a fine treat while running. You are doing good things to take care of yourself. It makes sense that you are exhausted with everything you are going through. Take all the time you need for yourself. After this week-end away I can testify to how much our minds and bodies need "me" time. How neat that you'd like to be a Vet. The ones I know are very special people, just like you.

Ann - You are right on with what a difference it makes when you sleep well. Hope you are now into a restful pattern. I was sure happy to be back to my own bed last night!

Linda and Sherry - Thinking of you and hoping good things are in your day.

Blessings, my friends. CJ emoticon

Good evening friends. I had an awesome day, ate healthy and got in my exercise. I take a morning walking break in which I walk fairly fast; in the afternoon I take a more leisurely walk; after work I had my zumba class. I got in lots of fruit and veggies and water today. Woo hoo off to a great start!

@ Debbie - so happy to hear that Ray is home and resting with the "kids". I am sure they are very happy to have daddy home. I hope you are able to get some rest too.

I love zumba and while I cannot do as much as some of the younger ladies, I feel I get an awesome workout and that is all that counts for me.

@ Sheila - so happy that you walk even in the dampness. I used to be that committed but the hubby isn't so much so - that's why I end up at the gym in the rain.

@ Andrea - the fall colors are just starting in this area and it is very pretty. I don't really like the Fall, but the colors are beautiful!

Well after all my exercise I am ready to go to bed a little early tonight! Chat at you all tomorrow. Have an amazing evening!

Debbie ~ Iím so glad Ray is home and youíre all together. I bet Katie and Silk were ecstatic when he walked through the door, just like you!
Barbara ~ It rained here today (again). Iím getting so it seems to be normal to be damp when I come in from walking!
Ann and Andrea ~ I so envy your ability to run!
I took a nice, but damp, three mile walk along one of the Towpath Trails late this afternoon. It was still warmish - at 60 degrees - and I enjoyed it. I probably wonít get a chance to walk tomorrow due to volunteering at the school and taking a friend in for some out-patient surgery. Iíll be there around 5 hours and thought about walking in the neighborhood around the hospital, but itís not in a good area to walk alone so tomorrow Iíll use one of my DVDs to get in some exercise time.

Hello Spooky ladies! I hope you all are having a good day! Ray is home and taking a nap with Katie and Silk curled up next to him. They are happy their daddy is home!

Barbara, enjoy your zumba class!

Linda, I am thinking about you and praying that you will find some relief from your pain.

Sherry, hope that your trip and conferences goes well for you.

Sheila, it is good that Peaches gets along well with Mari's kids. I used to not be able to trust Katie aroun children when we first got her. Now she loves the older kids 9 to 14. She is still a little timid around the smaller kids but is getting better.

CJ, I am sure you enjoyed your time with the rescued horses. I am trying to help a friend find a rescue group to take one of her horses. She rescued him herself a couple of years ago. He has improved a good deal. The spring an summer here has been so rough here she needs to rehome a couple of her animals. This gelding needs more attention than she can give him at this time.

Ann, and Andrea I definetly wish I had the determination you two have to run like you do. Walking is getting easier every day though there are some days that I just want to curl up an sleep. You know what they say though. No rest for the Wicked!

Well I need to get dinner started for Ray is a wake and hungry! Catch you all tomorrow.

Good morning fellow spooky ladies! Happy Monday!

I got a second good night's sleep last night and what a difference that makes! I actually feel refreshed this morning. For some reason my sleep was off all week last week.

Since we'll have leftovers tonight for dinner, I think I'll have time to do both a boot-camp interval DVD after work this evening plus my stretching DVD.

@Barbara, glad you got your walk in yesterday. The colors sound lovely. We do have a couple of streets here planted with trees that change color and I enjoy driving there this time of year so I can enjoy a bit of autumn. I bring all my lunches for the week on Mondays so I don't have to deal with it daily. I'm lucky that we have a large enough refrigerator at work to hold it all. I'm right there with you about how fast the days go by & needing another day off! I'm hoping to take the 3 working days of Thanksgiving week off to do some projects at home.
@Andrea, you are so consistent with your running! That's great! And seeing a shooting star is always a good sign, I think. Does your route take you by any of the beautiful lakes in Madison? Do you run even when it rains?
@Linda, hope you have a good day.
@Sherry, safe travels.
@CJ, sounds like you had a good trip. Do you ride the horses or work with them in some other way?
@Debbie, what a blessing that Ray has improved enough to come home today. I hope it all goes smoothly.
@Sheila, there's just something about children & dogs that make it special. Glad to hear that Peaches got a good workout along with you & that you also had the pleasure of walking with Mari!
Better get to work now!

Good morning my Spooks friends. I slept good last night, but I could really use another day off. It just seems like the days go so fast anymore. Today is my Zumba class and hopefully a couple of walking breaks. I tried to plan ahead a little for lunches this week so hopefully I will be able to stay within my calorie range and get in some fruits and veggies.

@ CJ - sounds like your time with the horses was so much fun. Sorry you were tired, but I know for me when I am having fun I still get tired.

@ Sheila - yesterday wasn't such a beautiful day here since it was foggy most of the day, but I felt since it was raining it was great.

@ Debbie - so happy to hear that Ray is coming home finally. i think being home always speeds the healing and it will be less stressful for you.

@ Andrea - I am sure your morning run felt good after all that studying. I pray that you are able to get off your anti-depressants, but sometimes they are needed long term so don't rush it.

@ Linda - I hope you are feeling better today. Being in pain can definitely put a damper on your overall feeling, but you certainly seem to keep a positive attitude.

Well, i need to get ready for work so I will try to check in again later!

Good morning everyone- Got my 5 am run in this morning. Felt really good after a long weekend of sitting and I actually saw a shooting star! I am feeling a little down, though. I think I am just emotionally exhausted after last week that I just need a little me time. I am thinking about taking a nice, long bubble bath when I get off work. Maybe light some candles and listen to music. I think I just need some time to myself without straining my brain so much. I am on anti-depressants, and I find that sometimes they make me feel worse than I would to begin with. They are kind of a catch 22 and I am working really hard to lower my dose or get off them completely.

Barb- A walk in the park sounds SOO nice! Do you still have a lot of colors by you? Where are you again? Wisconsin is, unfortunately, passed the fall color peaks. There are a few trees here and there though.

Linda- I am sorry you still have so many aches and pains. You definitely deserve a little relief! Thinking of you!

Sherry- Hope you have a good time in Omaha at your conference. Sounds super busy, but hopefully you will have time to relax too!

Ann- How long did you run this morning? I find that if I am not eating enough calories, I can barely run at all. Do you eat before you run?

CJ- Being the horses sounds like such a great experience! I bet it is extremely peaceful. If veterinary school wasn't so much money and so much time, I would be doing that!

Debbie- I am SOO happy that Ray is finally coming home. Must be such a relief that you can have him home even if he still has to endure a lot more. Hope everything goes well!

Well, off to work. Trying to keep a big smile on my face! Hugs to all! xoxo -Andrea

Well it looks like I am the last once checking in tonighte! I was on yesterday, but circumstances kept me from posting any where yesterday. Good news Ray is coming home tomorrow afternoon. He will be limited walking activity an a home health care nurse will be coming every day to administer his antibiotics through his iv for the next 4 to 6 weeks. The foot is looking almost as good as new. Thank you all for the thoughts and prayers!

Barbara, sounds like you an I have been getting about the same amount of mileage in walking done. I have been averaging about 4 miles a day.

Sheila, thank you for sharing the brussel sprouts receipe. I definetly am going to try it.

Sherry, sounds like your business trip is going to be another busy one. We will keep the light on for you!

Linda, I am so glad to see the positivity in your post! I know it is hard to be that way when you are dealing with so much. We are here for you.

Andrea, it sounds like you have had a productive weekend for your homework. I have known a couple of people who have studied what you are studying, It is not an easy course.

Ann, sounds like you are ready for that race you have in two weeks. I will be rooting for you.

Past my bedtime. so I will go for now. Catch you all tomorrow!

HUGS
Debbie

Barbara ~ Too bad you couldnít take a nap, but Iíve had days like that - feeling exhausted or just off, like you want to sleep, but unable to do so. Itís good you got in a walk - wasnít it a beautiful day? I walked for about an hour also.
Ann ~ I did find my ďgitty upĒ but I think I exhausted it walking in the park! It was a beautiful day - sunny and 62 degrees. Some of the trees still have beautiful leaves but others are completely bare. The trails were muddy but passable if you didnít mind a few inches of mud caked on your shoes! Mari (SPHAPPYHIKER) and one of her boys met me for the last 1.2 miles. Peaches and the little boy (7 years old) love to run ahead and then back to us - heís really good with her and she loves him. Peaches gets so excited when she gets out of the car and sees the boys. I havenít talked to Mari to see if he was tired, but Peaches walked into the house, directly into her cage, and plopped down.

emoticon Spookies - Just got back an hour ago and getting settled back in. We had a super experience with the horses. This is such a worthwhile thing for us - and for the horses, too. I got in lots of walking minutes. I'm very tired of driving though so I will catch up with everyone tomorrow.

Congratulations Team on the Win for Week 3! We are Fabulous!

I was feeling tired so I laid down for a half hour this afternoon, but I was not able to get to sleep which really didn't surprise me. So at 3:00 I was still feeling blah so I talked hubby into going out for a walk and we walked down to the park and took pictures of the pretty colors of fall. I succeeded in getting in my 60 minutes of cardio. Woo hoo. I still feel a little strange, but I am sure I will be feeling better tomorrow. Hubby was not able to get the plumbing unclogged so I could not finish my laundry so I guess I will be doing that after work one day.

@ Linda - sounds like you had a nice day with your friends. I hope you get lots of rest this evening and feel better come morning.

@ Sherry - have a good and safe trip. We will miss you when you are not able to check in, but we will be thinking of you. Get lots of miles racked up on your pedometer!

@ Ann - I envy you your ability to run. Sounds like you have a good plan for your upcoming race - to enjoy it.

I had my long run this morning & it really took lots out of me. It was very foggy the entire time, so that part was good that it stayed cool. I think my energy level was a bit lower today since I've been trying to keep my calorie range down to lose some more before my race, which is now only two weeks away! But I'm not trying for a personal best this time around, so I'm feeling relaxed about it & just want to finish & have fun. I should be taking a nap but when I tried just now the neighbors had something on that created a loud humming that was driving me crazy so I got up. Maybe I'll get to bed early tonight if I'm very lucky.

@Linda I'm glad to hear you had a good time with friends.
@Andrea, I think it's great you're getting caught up with your practice hours. Keep up the good work!
@Debbie, thinking of you.
@Sheila, hope you find your gitty-up at the park!
@Sherry, hope your Sunday's going well.
@CJ, safe travels back home.

Take care, fellow spook-tacular ladies!

Thanks everyone for pulling up my number for this week! I think we're giving ourselves the message that we CAN do what we can do (to paraphrase Sheila.)

I am trying to wrap up lots of work things and finish packing for our trip this week. Going to Omaha for a conference and tomorrow is a travel and meeting day. Two meetings before we can even check in at the hotel, so I likely won't be on here much.

Went to a college FB game yesterday. Wonderful weather, but the game was on TV and lasted nearly 3 1/2 hours. Would have been better if we'd won, but oh, well. Game time was 2:30, we didn't get home and start unpacking until after 7:30. Two weeks before the next home game and that is fine with me.

I will try to check in as I'm able this week, and will miss you all when I can't. I am wearing my pedometer -- as always -- so should have some walking time in throughout the week. Here's to a great ending for our team!

@ Andrea - Totally not offended that you didn't feel like looking at the screen more on your break. So proud of you for being so committed to getting your homework done! I hope you have gotten caught up! emoticon

Hi everyone! I hope you aren't offended that I haven't been on this weekend! I have been staring at my computer screen while moving my fingers on my steno machine for more hours than I can count! The last thing I want to do when I need a break is stare at the screen some more. Nothing against all of you! Just needed a break!

I have been thinking about all of you all weekend! I am glad we won the challenge too! WOO HOO! I will comment to everyone tomorrow. Have to get back to homework!

Hugs- Andrea

Well friends it is just about noon here and it's still foggy and dreary outside I feel like Sheila said she feels - like I've lost my geet up and go, but I calculated my cardio minutes yesterday for the month and they show that I definitely need to get in 60 minutes today or I will not achieve my monthly goal so I had better go out and look for mine too.

Hubby is still working on trying to get the plumbing line cleared. It is beginning to look like the plumber will be getting a call tomorrow. Still thanking God that the toilets and tub/shower are not plugged.

@ Sheila - enjoy that sun and I hope you find your get up and go at the park.

@ Andrea - I haven't seen you post since Friday so I am hoping that means the homework is going well!

@ Debbie - thinking of you and Ray and praying for you both.

@ Linda - I am hoping and praying you are having a good day!

@ Sherry, CJ, and Ann - I hope you are all having an amaing day too!

I will try to check in again this evening!

Itís Sunday afternoon and evidently my get-up-and-go got up and went! Iím going to head out to the park in about an hour and see if I can find it! The sun is shining and there is actually no rain falling - I bet there are 10 lawn mowers running in the immediate neighborhood right now!
Iíll be back later tonight - after Amazing Race (love that show!)
