HI joanemalm,
it is still really hard getting use to what I can not do! It is REALLY great to no longer have the pain I did, but - I really miss walking (without pain afterwards) running (without falling), raking leaves and playing in them and playing in the snow. That I really, really miss. I use to go out and pull my grandchildren around on the sled, shovel the driveway, hacve snow ball fights! Well, I guess I have to be fortunate for what I can do.
Today I did 45 minutes of strenght training and walked two different times - 15 minues each, went 1/2 mile each time.
Have a wonferful evenig everyone.

Hey Grannys5, I too have had two knee replacements and also walked 3 miles a day. But as I got older I just stopped doing what I was doing. Now trying to get back to being able to walk those 3 miles again. Really miss that.

I am patting myself on the back this morning.
I had to bring my two grandchildren to the summer program at the school, and also had to go down the block to sign up for a family pass at the town swimming pool. Instead of getting back into my car and driving down the road, I walked!!!. For me that is an accomplishment.

I love to walk, I use to walk 3 miles a day. I have had both knees replaces and I have RA and lupus. Some days I can barley walk through my apartment. But, on the days I feel good I take advantage of it!!!

Walking at a normal pace, is safe to do daily. For some people it could probably be considered cardio. My mother-in-law gets winded after just getting out of bed. She doesn't walk much; I do always encourage her.

I read in the book or here on the site that we should take one or two days off from cardio a week. I guess 10 minutes is NOT cardio, though.

Good luck; we CAN reach our goals.

I don't walk for work, but I find that exercise is easier for me when I'm in my weekday routine so I'm working on the same goal for my non-workday days.

Hi! I do alot of walking at work, but tend to ignore it when I'm at home. I'm going to work on making sure I walk or use an exercise bike daily on days when I don't walk for my job. emoticon
