How is everyone doing with this challenge?

I'm getting about 7:30-8 hrs of sleep and I feel great! Somehow I don't feel so rushed in the morning, and I'm doing better with my meals too. I don't seem to want all the cheesey greasy terrible stuff.

Hope you are all doing great too.

On the night of the 4th, I probably only got about 4.5 hours. Too many fireworks. I did take a nap during the day but the last night didn't get to bed until late and got up at 4a.m. So last night about 5.5. So I'm not doing too good with this one. :(

Awesome challenge! I am just starting week 3 on spark and my fast break goal was to do 8 hours of sleep every night for the last two weeks and I'm telling you - what a difference!!! Not only more energy but i've actually had two mornings in the last two weeks that I have actually woke up without (and before!) my annoying alarm went off!!! This is absolutely amazing!!! It's helping me have stronger workouts, make healthier food options, and I just feel sharper all the way around! Go sleep!

I am going to try to do this myself, with even going to bed when Hubby does and use my booklight to read by.. When he is traveling with his job I always go to bed and read before I head off to dreamland, but when he is home I tend to stay up and watch tv or play on the computer. I also spend alot of time here on Spark late into the evening, so to my fellow Sparkies, I AM GOING TO BED EARLY!!!!

This will be a hard one for me as my husband gets me up at least every two hours to help him to the washroom (he has cancer) and it then takes me awhile to fall asleep again. But I think I can add together all the cat naps and see what I come up with. Still it is not as good as an 8 hour restorative sleep.

I want to commend those of you that regularly sleep 7-9. That is wonderful.

For those of us that could use a little bit more sleep, thank you for taking on this challenge.

Last night was difficult for me. I came to bed and my first instinct was to turn on the TV. I had check myself and I ended up putting the remote control in a different room. I read a book for about 15 minutes (oh how I missed my characters), then I was fast asleep. Sad to report I only made it 6:15 before my body woke up on its own. ;-(

I'll try again tonight.

Sleep. I haven't really had a decent night's sleep since early onset menopause. I would love to get a full 8 hours of uninterrupted sleep. I am just grateful if I can get 4 without having to get up for the bathroom or to dry off from all the sweating.

I really need to work on getting to bed earlier! I walk a lot so I need to be getting out the door earlier in the morning so I can be done before it gets too hot. I seem to get a second wind at around 7:00pm and stay up too late - need to work on this!!

My body won't sleep more than 5-6 hours a night, sometimes less. I will go to bed earlier though, and not turn on the TV in my room (which helps me get to sleep sometimes) this week.

Well since I've been unemployed and know that I don't have to get up at 5am I've been staying up till 2 or 2:30 am and getting up at 10am.But I've been trying to stop this bad habit so now I have a good reason.Starting tonite I will go to bed at 10:30 and be up by 6-6:30am.And I know I'll feel better because I will have more time in my day to do fun things like go fishing early in the morning and see the sunrise at the Island with DH.be done fishing by noon and go have lunch at our favorite restaurant Pirate's Landing.I know I will have the grill shrimp salad. That sounds like a plan.Think I will surprise DH with that plan.he will love it

We're usually in bed by nine because we get up around 5:15. We don't watch TV, just DVDs and streaming on Netflix. We start winding things down around seven or so, so that we're settled in (relaxed) by bedtime.

I have a lot of difficulty sleeping and have a prescription med to help. I get anywhere from 5-8hrs. Once I get to sleep it is fairly sound.

I tend to go to bed and watch one or two shows before going to sleep. For this sleep challenge, I will go to bed and leave the TV off. No excuses. I will be a sleepy-bear. Ooooh that sounds good right now... sleepy bear tea.

Experts say that not getting the proper amount of sleep can cause weight gain. So let's sleep 7-9 hours per night for a week and see if our bodies respond positively, or if it gives us more energy.

I know it is difficult to sleep that much, especially for working moms. But we need to put ourselves first once in a while, and treat our bodies to some much needed sleep. Ask your hubbies to help with the little kids, so you can get to bed a bit earlier. Let's leave that nightly TV show alone for a week, and go to bed sooner in the night.

For those of you that work during the night, you can still participate by sleeping 7-9 hours during your day.

Sleep challenge: Starting Monday night, through Sunday night, sleep 7-9 hour, and report back if you gained some energy, or feel generally better. Don't forget to tell us the changes, if any, you experienced.
