Wow! I am so amazed at how close I came to my goal for this challenge. When I initially set the goal of 40 pounds lost in 4 months, I knew it was ambitious. To come within 3.5 pounds of that goal is a real achievement!

This was the first challenge I participated in on SparkPeople. It was a wonderful way to stay motivated week to week! Thanks to those who set everything up and for all of the other participants who helped challenge me to keep going and not to give up!

Just wanted to say "WAY TO GO" to all of you who met your goals on this challenge - and to those of us who did not - we still worked on it and any loss is a good thing so let's be proud of that! On to better, healthier, lighter New Year!

Well, I am happy with the 11.5 pounds that I lost through this challenge.
I've learned 2 very important things from this challenge. Set realistic goals. After reporting my final weigh-in I realized I'd lost 1.15 pounds per week, which I think is great!! I'm on this journey to lose and keep it off, so slow and steady wins the race. I was feeling bummed about not meeting my goal until I saw my overall progress.
Secondly, plan, plan, PLAN!!! I am not going to get anywhere by just drifting through this hoping the scale changes from time to time. So today, I am going to read a couple SP planning articles and make a tried and true plan that is realistic so that I CAN stick to it and SUCCEED.

Aug 8- 214 (-6!!)
Aug 15- 212.5
Aug 23- 216 - vacation last week...normally I gain 5-6lbs, so 3.5 is a little better :(
Aug 29- 212...back on track :)
Sep 5- 212...damn that bbq
Sep 12- 211...one's better than none.
Sep 19 - 210...10 down, 60 to go!!
Sep 26- 208.5...even with a "bad" week
Oct 3- 207.5...once again, thought it was a bad week, guess not :)
Oct 10- 207.5...i thought i was going to gain, so i'm happy with this
Oct 17- 208.5...bloated :(
Oct 24- 205...I'll take it :)
Oct 31- 206...darn candy...that and it's TOM, so hopefully next week will be better.
Nov 7- 204...gave up nightly coffee
Nov 14- 205...my own fault...was ravenous this past week and gave in
Nov 21- 203.5...if I didn't sabotage myself every other week I'd have surpassed my goal by now...4.5 lbs to go with 2 weeks and Thanksgiving...this is going to be tight!
Nov 28- 203...nice :)...altho I won't hit my goal, I'm super close and know I can do it!
DEC 1ST!!!-205...let my husband talk me in to ordering pizza, and my mom brought over girl scout cookies :( Why can't I just say no!! I'll just have to get right back on the horse!!

Dec 1-164 after skipping dinner last night--not intentional, just fell asleep after work.

I can't even remember how many pounds I was supposed to lose, but I'd guess I didn't reach my goal. Still, considering all that's gone down in the past 3 months (job change, 3 work schedule changes, 1 field trip, 1 vacation, 2 "eating" holidays), I can't be too upset about a ten-pound loss...at least I'm still battling, right?

So I had my last weigh in today for this challenge! I did not weigh in last week because we are moving to Hawaii on Friday and things have been uber hectic... But I stopped by the gym scale today to get my official weight!

I thrilled to report that I lost another 5 pounds, bringing my total for this challenge to 50 pounds!!!!! YAHOOOOOO!!!!!

Well - I learned a week at Disneyland (not tracking or even watching my intake) followed by Thanksgiving can undo a months worth of effort. Good to know for next vacation - The holiday wasn't bad at all - it was all the vacation that got me.

I have met the highest end of my F&I goal! I lost 4 pounds this week, putting my total at 45 lbs and making my weight less than 200! Oh yeah baby!

The original goal (219) is unreachable in amount of time left. Was a little hefty to begin with...but if I could continue this 2 pounds a week...and be 234 (gonna aim for 230) I'd be happy!! Here's to slow and steady progress!!!

SW-169.5 (minus 1.5; not sure this is accurate, but I'll take it)

Aug 10- Ate pretty well today, sure I'm in well within range...did a lunchtime walk (sweat my butt off 'cuz it was hot) for 45 min; very proud I eschewed my comfy bed and bedroom AC to make it to my Cardio Salsa class (1 hr +)

Aug 17- (one day late, oops) Did my lunchtime walk for 45 min, made it to Cardio Salsa, a little over an hour...barely stayed in range (1,652 out of 1,670 max), but walk and salsa burned about 586 cal, so not bad on average...feel a little guilty I scarfed an entire bag of popcorn as a snack (yes, it was 94% fat free or whatever, but still--NOT necessary)

Next week I'm going to try and shave my range a bit, see if trying to stay under 1,500 makes a differnce on the scale. I want to get out of the 170s bad

Aug 24-Ok, so I said I wanted to be out of the 170s, I am (barely)--that's good. I also said I wanted to be 100 below my calorie range (in the 1500s), somehow I managed to go OVER on my FIRST DAY. UNBELIEVABLE. Forget this. I had a major caloriefest yesterday at a local Mexican place, it was lovely actually, and I figured I'd torture myself by stepping on the scale...and then all of sudden I'm out of the 170s. Makes no earthly sense.

I don't really get any of this and I'm a tad frustrated but I suppose I can't really complain since I lost weight...we just got a Wii this weekend too, so I plan to do Wii Active whenever possible. It's kinda fun even though it doesn't burn a lot of calories.

Aug 31-SW 169.5 Left today for 5 days at a YMCA camp in San Diego with 230+ pubescent boys and girls. Oh help.

Sep 7-SW 170.0 Binged a bit on snacks and then on some nasty Jack in the Box food. Not very satisfying. Shocked I only gained .5 lbs but still ticked I'm back in the 170s. Hoping to lose 10 lbs. before I go home to Boston Oct 9. May be a pipe dream but I'm gonna try ;)

Sep 14, Sep 21, Sep 28, Oct 5, Oct 12, Oct 19, Oct 26: I became extremely ill towards the end of September with what I'm convinced was swine flu. My doctor said just a bad cold, but who the heck gets a fever of 104, alternating chills, and passes out in the shower from a cold, I ask you? I dropped down to 159 after days of not eating...then I recovered just in time to go home to Boston on vacation, during which I put pounds back on. Over the 5 weeks I've put back on 10 pounds, and I'm just now finally starting to get back on track.

I've been pretty solid this week, stayed in range and exercised, so we'll see what tomorrow brings...

I had to say goodbye to my scale this week because we are moving to Hawaii and everything I own was packed up and put on a boat to make the trip to the island. I guess I will have to start weighing myself at the gym starting next week, but I am not sure how accurate that will be. The good news is I lost another 3 pounds this week! Wahoo! 36 total so far!

I know I said this the other time it happened, but I have no idea why I went up this week. Yes, I missed going to the pool yesterday (actually I DID go but it was closed due to the engineer who certifies its safety being sick) but I adjusted my calories accordingly. I have been low on sleep most of the week, could that be it??? I just don't know.

Congrats on breaking 300!!! I'm excited to hit onederland, hopefully in a couple of weeks.

I thought I was not doing well this week nutritionally - that candy dish sits WAY too close to me and I had some EVERY day! But, it looks like I didn't do so bad after all, altho, some of it's water weight I'm sure.

Well i bought the digital scale good kind..and it turns out I weighed 183.6 so gee thanks.!!! ugh instead of 178..so here goes the number will keep at it..... do it every day and it is getting to be no big deal..(working out)

Well, I knew it was not going to be a positive week but it wasn't as bad as it could have been with my vacation and all. Back on track after last week - starting today!

Starting weight: 187.8
Goal weight: 149 (By March - not December)

July 27 - 187.8
Aug 10- 187.6
Aug 19- 188.5
Aug 22- 185.2
Aug 31- 183.2
Sept 6 - 183
Sept 13 - 182.2

Oct. 3 - 178.4
Oct. 10 - 179.4 = 8.4 pound loss so far since Aug 1. and back to the obese category :(

Okay so here it is in black and white.... my kitchen has been under remodel for the last month, I kept thinking my weight loss would improve (done just the opposite)and I would "catch-up" and post then. Well my weight did nothing but go up and now my kitchen is done. Time to become accountable. I hope as you all are gasping while reading my weight you remember this PROCRASTINATION is a sucky thing. Anyways done rambling glad to be back lol

Aug 23- 216 - vacation last week...normally I gain 5-6lbs, so 3.5 is a little better :(

I lost 1.6 pounds this week; that's the most I've lost in one week since my immune system turned on my thyroid! Good to see the combination of the meds and my hard work finally paying off.

My week had some difficulty to it between a lot of stress and an interruption to my exercise schedule. I really tried to compensate the last half of the week. It seems to have worked!

Not a good week...ate too much this weekend and not enough exercise. It is cold and wet, I don't want to exercise. TOM and I want to eat everything...GRRR.

Was on vacation from Saturday night until yesterday so I am just getting around to posting my Saturday weight. Not looking forward to my weight in next Saturday - I know I went over my range by at least 1000 calories 3 days on the trip and even though we walked a lot - I'm sure I'll go back up on Saturday. However - even if only for a day - I was below 179 which is where I stopped being considered "Obese" on the BMI scale and I am happy about that!

Starting weight: 187.8
Goal weight: 149 (By March - not December)

Friday Post After weigh in:
"I was really hoping to be 190 for my anniversary on Sunday. I do not remember exactly what I weighed a year ago, but I am sure it was over 200! I am excited...now if I can just keep myself from ruining my success by over celebrating!(I was at 190.8)"

Monday morning and I did pretty good. We did eat out a couple times this weekend but I also got some exercise in. Weighed this morning 192.2...not bad, actually, I am pretty happy with that. My goal for this Friday will be to be back at 190.8 or less! Already drinking my water:-)
