emoticon Yes, it really wasn't that cozy mysteries genre we look for when we don't want stress. Hope you're feeling much better!!

I could not get into this book right now, but I will try later. I think it was because of the stress I was under. I just wanted to read cozy mysteries that had some humor in them.

Yes, I did. I finished it last Friday (the 22nd) and... this was truly unlike any mystery I was prepared for, either!! I thought_______ it was an excellent 'weaving' of today's timeline interconnected with emoticon what may become of the human species emoticon in the future, and then... how it most definitely took that future SMACK DAB into what happened WAY BACK in the ancient past!! Crystals containing an element that could solve the problems of the energy/fuel crisis? A Horror? Sci-fi extraordinaire?!!

Has anyone read this? It definitely didn't read like any mystery I've ever read before. It seemed much more like an adventure novel than a mystery. I enjoyed it but it definitely wasn't what I was expecting.

I picked up my copy from the library yesterday but I'm already reading the next Simon Serrailler mystery (November's book is the first one in the series) so it will have to wait until I'm done this one.

I just got my book in, yesterday and began reading it way too late last night, so will attempt to get to my *magic* reading chair by 9. Read all the intro b4 sleep set in though, so I'm good ta' go and am excited to jump right in!!

Interesting that in February the other SP bookclub to which I belong read State of Wonder by Ann Patchett. It also is set in the Amazon. I had read it earlier and did not read it again, but it certainly is less tense than Black Rain.

The March selection is Black Rain: A Thriller by Graham Brown

Covert government operative Danielle Laidlaw leads an expedition into the Amazon in search of a legendary Mayan city. Protected by a mercenary named Hawker, her team journeys into the rain forest unaware they are replacements for a group that vanished weeks before, and that the treasure they seek is no mere artifact but a breakthrough discovery that could transform the world.
