I just have a quick question:
to lose a pound are you supposed to burn off 3500 calories plus all the calories you eat or is it just the 3500? Is it really bad to eat around 1200 calories? I plan to work off about 2500 calories a day so will I be depriving myself of something? confused so if someone can help me out that would be nice thanks.

I'm a little confused...

I saw this said the challenge starts May 1st and runs through May 28th, and today is May 2nd but there are people on here saying they've already completed Day 6?

How does that work?

Day 2 and I just marched in place with my abs pulled in. Why do they think the elderly can do these. I have two knee replacements and cannot kneel. That left out the second part of the video. The first exercise I did and then I got a major cramp in my abdominal area. That's when I started marchine to try to get the cramp out. I guess if all I can do for 4 weeks is march in place, that's at least 10 min. added to my 30 min. cardio.

Day two Did my video early this morning, and then worked out at the YMCA for an hour. 20 min on Treadmill, 20 on the Elliptical and 20 on the stationary bike. I really liked the day one video. I did it with the last Boot Camp, and now find it is easier. Might do another round later. Great core exercises!! diana

Well, I am now on Day 4, and things are going pretty well so far.

I rested on Saturday, but jumped right back into the game on Sunday. Each day I aim to do 30 minutes of cardio, but end up doing slightly more.

As for the toning videos, I did not realize that there were specific ones for each day. emoticon Instead I would just do a toning video from one of the previous bootcamps. I should hope that it doesn't really matter, because the point is that I am still toning the different muscle groups, right?

This challenge is wonderful because it is keeping me accountable, and I am so excited to see the results in 4 weeks from now.

Keep working hard everyone! This is a good thing. emoticon

Today is day #1 for me.

I am here because at the end of June I am going to be spending a week on the Jersey Shore with my boyfriend and his family(who I will be meeting once we arrive). I am looking for a workout plan that will keep me busy and focused.

I am not necessarily trying to lose any weight, I just need to tone up. At a glance I am described as skinny but up close there are many areas in need of improvement. I am hoping to loose inches and have better fitting clothes!

Good luck to everyone!

I just went for a 1.9 mile walk (30 minutes) on my lunch break at work and am now enjoying a healthy lunch. I plan on doing the day 2 video when I get home, before I go to rehearsal. I'm kind of crazy busy, so I have to fit in the exercise where I can, but that's okay. I think it's probably good for me to get into the habit of taking a walk at lunch because it gets me away from the office (stress reduction) and listening to fun music that lifts my mood.

Let's keep it going!

Just did day 2 and day 3 video. Day 2 video was difficult for me. Plan on doing it some more so hopefully i can get better at it and eventually be able to complete it all with all the reps without stopping. Day 3 video was actually pretty easy, because I am really use to doing squats. Now time for me to figure out when to get my cardio in.

Day 1- is in the bank
Going to do Day 2 once I get off work today. Lucky for me I have access to the gym for free, so there is not excuse for me not to be able to fully commit to this challenge. I plan on doing the elliptical machine for 30-45 mins, and then the Ab video for today's toning exercise.

My goal for this week is to commit to doing the 30 mins of cardio 5 times a week. I'm use to doing cardio 3 times a week, so the additional 2 days will be my challenge. Hopefully my body will like it as much as my mind does...LOL

I also started a detox today, so this should be a very interesting experience.

Day two is done for me. I did a 30 min walk on my treadmill while my 2 year napped and then did day 2 video, I must admitt those exercises were kind of hard to do. I was not able to do all of the reps. But I am hoping that by next week I will be able to. I am going to see if I can squeeze in another walk outside today.
I can do this!!!

Cool! I am glad t have found this challenge, it gives me something more to add to my May goals!

My main May goals are:
*lose an inch around hips (or half an inch) and half an inch everywhere else; toning up in general. I would like to fit more comfortably in this particular pair of pants. Up until the last few weeks, they have been at the back of my closet because I couldn't fit into them at all, now they are just a little too tight, which is awesome progress!
*1000 fitness minutes for the month; and have minutes everyday in May
*walk 10 miles per week
*try one new recipe per week (this week was Pho, a Vietnamese Noodle Soup)
*Walk to and from work 2x this month (about a 5 mile walk)
REWARD: take one day off of work (already scheduled); get one new thing, like shoes or something

My long-term goals are to lose another 15-20 pounds, though my scale is being wacky so I've decided to use measurements to track my progress instead of pounds. My primary goals for long-term are to just be more active and fit into my clothing comfortably. This is a great challenge and I look forward to it! I plan on doing 2 videos today since I just found this challenge and missed yesterday. (I did walk a lot yesterday, though, so I have minutes logged.)

Yesterday was a good day. I worked outside in my flowerbeds, got my exercises done, took a nice walk, and stayed within my calories. I have been really sore since starting the videos, but I woke up this morning and the soreness for the most part is gone. That means my body is getting happier with the exercises I guess.

Do each day's video twice-check
Do at least 30 crunches-check
Get 10,000 steps on my pedometer at least 5 times a week-only got 8000
Sit on my exercise ball while logging and posting in Sparks-check
Stay in my calorie range-check

I'm actually starting today since I didn't sign in yesterday. I had already decided that today was the first day of my getting back to being very serious about exercising and eating healthier. I live in MN and it has been a very long, very cold winter and we have yet to have warm weather (which I had been using as my excuse to not be doing my longer walks, etc). Have also recommitted to going to the gym at least 2x/week. I lost 30 lbs in 2010 and then I quit smoking in January 2011 and have put 10 lbs back on. I feel like I have now reached a plateau with my weight gain and need to seriously kick my own butt to get back on track.

This challenge could not have come at a better time!!!!

Today's my Day 1! I'm very excited to see this challenge and this team, and it seems to be full of positive attitude - just what I need! My tropical vacation is just 6 weeks away and so far this year I have not been able to stay committed enough to lose any weight. So, my goals for this challenge include losing one pant size, toning up the midsection and finding my willpower! emoticon

I'm on day four and have been successful with the videos and cardio all four days! My goal is to stick with this bootcamp to the end and have a taste of success by completing this. I need to success at some steps that I can and then I can add to that to reach my goal. My goal by the start of the 2011-2012 school year is to drop 35 pounds. I know I can do it.

I wanna see my body fat drop.

Day 2, so far so good. I'm a bit concerned about next Sunday. We have company coming in and they are staying with us. Could be difficult to get in my video exercise.

My goal for this challenge is to lose 5-7 pounds.

This is my Day 1 of Week 1 - I signed up Friday, but with an anniversary dinner on Saturday, I didn't want to have to be on good behavior! :)
I've brought healthy breakfast, lunch and snacks (homemade) to work today, and yesterday I bought enough healthy food for the whole week. My challenge is, I work part time at a restaurant and the food and drinks there are GOOD (but BAD haha).
Today's food:
Breakfast: crustless quiche with broccoli, mushrooms, roast peppers, onions and goat cheese
Lunch: salad with grilled chicken breast, dried cherries, gogi berries and romaine lettuce
Snack: pink grapefruit
Dinner: ? but probably roast chicken or salmon and broccoli or artichoke

Biggest thing for me is the exercise. Think I'll go for a jog when I get home and maybe some resistance band exercises while watching TV.

Good luck to all - I'm hoping to lose 10 lbs and at least one clothing size this month!!

I am here because I needed something new and a challenge to help me reach my weight loss goals. I have only lost 8lbs since 2/28/11 have lost a few inches as well. I am hoping to lose maybe 10lbs by the end of this challenge as well as a couple more inches. I have summer trips that I really want to look nice for. Just started week one yesterday the kickboxing is was fun. I did my cardio this morning and will do the strength exercise this evening. Just have to make sure I do good on my diet goals as well

I completed day 1 yesterday and will complete day 2 tonight. I can't do the video until I get home from work. I can do most of the them in my office, but not ones on the floor. Oh well, I'm hoping to get back to working out consistently everyday.

Got a bit behind and missed yesterday, but made up for it with two toning vids just now. Feeling great!! Really excited to complete this challenge.

My goals for the program are to complete the toning vids daily, cardio (I do a 30 minute kick boxing video already) 5 days a week, and to continue following my strength training regimine that I've already been doing for the last 3 months...I intend to do 3 days of strength training in addition to cardio.

I hope by the end of the challenge to loose atleast a dress size (which I think will be possible, being that I'm already "in between" one now). I also hope that I can continue working out the 7 days a week, because I think even working 10 minutes on weekends..will get me faster to my weight goal. In addition I'd also like to gain more energy in my days (working out always gives me that extra boost so that I don't feel slow and sluggish in the evenings), as well as that extra self confidence I tend to gain when I feel healthy and strong :)

hi Everyone!
Just completed day 1 video. My goals for this challenge are to 1) have fun! I love challenges and tend to really have fun with them. 2) get back on track after hurting my back and having to pause all my efforts for 6 weeks 3) get below the dreaded 150 lb mark by my bday - that's 4 lbs in 3 weeks. I seem to have been stuck at just above 150 for a long, long time. I hope I can do it!

Thank you for posting that question. I wondered myself about the calories burned after I did the 10 minute workout compared to my 30 minutes on the treadmill. Could this possibly be accurate?

Day 2 on the program and I'm happy to be part of this challenge. I am working with a personal trainer so daily I have to go to the gym, otherwise when we meet I'll still be in the starting blocks. I'm very excited to be getting into shape and improving my health. I'm in this for the long haul. Goals: track my food intake, track my water intake, exercise 75 minutes 6 days a week, and enjoy life.

On day 2 and already ran this morning. I was wondering about the amount of calories burned while doing the first video. I ran 1.3 miles in 13 minutes and that is about 140 calories but the 10 minute video burned more? How is that possible? Anyone else feel the same way.
