I've been trying this for almost a month. All things being said, I AM lifting heavier weights!

Here's a fairly LONG article about building muscle and recovery...

There are several things in this article that I will experiment with, particularly with re. to timing of nutrition before and after training. I will try it for a month and check my results!

It has been mentioned that after a period of weeks of regular workouts, it is beneficial to take a week of rest to allow the body to gain the benefits of your hard work.

I found out this past week, that taking the time to allow the body adequate time to rebuild and rejuvenate can also make a difference on the scale!

Too much inflammation and not enough recovery can set up a negative cycle that actually prevents the body from releasing some of its unnecessary stores (fat!). -- Anyway, with this older body, it DOES make a difference for me.

Here is another link I found:
http://www.timinvermont.com/fitness/fund
.htm

It isn't a lot of hype, but it is well written. (in my opinion!) I had not heard about how the whole body system comes into play with strength training--so it isn't just that I'm training different parts on different days. (ie. M upper / W lower / F upper & reverse on wk#2).

Anyway, thought I would share in case it is useful to someone else.
