Most hair loss is due to lack of iron and protein. It improves as you get back on normal food and reach your protein goals and start including fresh veggies and whole grains so that your nutrient levels improve. With good nutrient level and plenty of protein you will have energy to do many things and your hair will come in strong and shiny.
The hair and fingernails are the first signs of nutrient levels dropping too low. I learned that years ago from the volunteering to fight hunger in the world. I saw this for myself in Haiti. So poor hair is a sign of malnutrition. It is one of the reasons I see a naturopath who keeps on top of my nutrient levels. I am happy to say that since I started getting iron injections to raise my ferritin levels and my numbers are now in normal range for all nutrients. My hair is shiny and strong.
Thyroid meds affect nutrition levels too. Your energy level probably means that your iron levels and other nutrients are rising and soon your hair will be shiny and strong.

Maybe a 5 k this year. My activity level has improved significantly after having my thyroid med decreased. She said this would help my hair falling out problem over the next 4 weeks. Man I have been able to clean/vacuum/mop/walk up and down stairs/wash dogs so much more in a day than I have been able in years. I used to clean house from top to bottom wash three dogs and still go to town by noon. I don't know if I will do all that again, but boy I am stoked. For now I am starting with a new fitbit today and shooting for the 10,000 steps a day!

Keep it up! Exercise is so important to keeping off the weight! If you need motivation log your exercise on the exercise thread. I found that it helped me to be honest with myself and not give in to excuses when I knew I had to admit it on the post thread for exercise checkin.

Posting your exercise or lack of exercise helps motivate you until exercise becomes a habit.

My goal is to just start exercising! I find excuses not to take a walk. I was really motivated in the late fall of 2012 but the cold raw New England weather showed up and that put my fire out. I started taking the stairs at work instead of the elevator... I used the elevator for 13 years! I'm noticing that after 4 months my breathing is getting a bit better when I hit the top of the stairs. I'm working with the weight loss center to set up an exercise plan that I can live with so that I don't quit again.

My exercise goals for 2013:

1. Start back at the YWCA three days a week.
2. Do cardio three days a week building up stamina. I like the treadmill, elliptical. I would like to try out the bike as well and eventually move up to spin class.
3. When stamina is back and released from doctor, add strength training two days a week. One day upper body and one day lower body.

2. To start doing cardio 3 times a week and eventually bump it up to 5.
3. To do strength training 2-3 days a week.
4. Get back into Zumba!

What are your exercise goals for 2013?
emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon

This year I have been doing great with my water aerobics but have slacked off on my exercise bike and hand weights.
So my goal for 2013 for hand weights is to do my hand weight exercise once a week for upper body and lower body.
For exercise bike is to ride at least 1 hour a week.
For water exercise to continue with my three times a week water aerobics classes.

What are you exercise goals for 2013?

cindy
