Garlic make nails stronger. I've used it several ways
- add chopped garlic to base coat or nail hardener. can cover with nail color coat etc.
- mashed garlic - rub on clean nails. Can also add olive oil to mashed garlic.
--get garlic pearls from health store. meant to be swallowed. But I poke hole in one end & color nail polish on other. Squeeze a little on each nail before bed so you done wear off before it sinks in. The pears size is good for 4 days application for me.

2 of the biggest nutritional problems with nails are: Lack of calcium and lack of omega 3 oils. Try adding more of these to you diets and see if that doesn't make a difference.

It could be nutritional, but more often than not it is caused by stress.

Some of mine are growing ridges that I end up trying to file smooth before polishing. Is that nutritional too? I only have one nail that likes to curve down a little as it grows out. I always figured it was probably how I held my hand while I slept, but there's only the one??!!

It sounds to me like you may have some kind of nutritional deficency. My nails do the same thing but I have thyroid disease.

My mother has had this same problem for years. She recently figured out it is due to a fungal or yeast infection and says that athlete's foot cream has cleared it up and that she has nails for the first time in 40 years.

I got a question-My fingernails seem to be brittle and easy to break. They have grown somewhat long but not very long at all. As soon as the things get to growing and starting to take a great shape, bam, they start breaking off or chipping at the sides. Anyone, got any ideas? Done tried gelatin and that didn't seem to work either.

Hi my name is Laura and I am a nail tech in TN, it sounds to me like you may have what is called eggshell nails, the causes are heredity and nerve disorders. Although if they grow long and then curve that is perfectly normal. Hope that helps ya. emoticon

It has got to be a nutritional thing. I know mine are flat and not rounded like everyone else and I was told it was nutritional.

My fingernails seem to curl down over the tips of my fingers after they get so long. Is there anything I can do to help stop them from doing that?
