It looks as if everyone who was a Chiefs fan died in 2011 or so (with the exception of two or three).

The Chiefs are winning now. They need to come back (the fans I mean). After all, Kansas City fans are known to ride a winner (See Royals attendance after it looked like they would win more than 81 games).

Mister S. Joe, I volunteer to be your co-leader and recruiter. I already have three areas to recruit from - make that four now!

I hope I haven't insulted you by jumping here and being so aggressive, but I didn't even know
the team existed until today. Except for the LA Rams, the Chiefs have all my attention.

What? The Rams moved to St. Louis? What happened to the Cardinals? THEY moved to Arizona. Wow.

We lived in Houston before we moved to Kansas City and rooted for the Oilers..... they moved too? To Tennessee? Of course they did. Do they even have oil in Tenessee? No, they just changed their name? Tenessee Titans? But they still wear the powder blue uniforms of the old Houston Oilers.

And Houston has a new professional football team. What did they call them? The Houston Texans? No. That was just a sarcastic comment. Really?

I feel like Rip Van Winkle.

Who is the Chief's quarterback now that Joe Montana retired?

No way.

No WAY!

Smith? Smith who? Next you'll be telling me that Brett Favre has finally retired. No kidding!

And know the Rams are trying to talk him into un-retiring? How old is he?

Forty-four. The only players that play in their 40's are Place Kickers.

Boy, have you ever given me some info that I can use to recruit team members back.

Week 8 is up next..... or they have a bye week. What's a bye week?

THE MATCH-UP
Kansas City looks to rebound with a trip to Detroit to face the Lions on Sunday, Sept. 18. The Chiefs stand 0-1 in the regular season after an Opening Day 41-7 loss vs. Buffalo (9/13). Detroit won its first game of the season by a 27-20 count at Tampa Bay (9/13). Sunday’s game features two head coaches hired in 2009 in Kansas City Head Coach Todd Haley and Detroit Head Coach Jim Schwartz.

The 2010 season marked a turning point for the Chiefs franchise as Kansas City turned in a 10-6 record after a 4-12 performance in 2009. It marked the best single-season turnaround in franchise history. The Chiefs won the AFC West Championship and earned a home playoff game for the first time since 2003.

Dating back to 2010 season, the Lions have won five consecutive regular season games. QB Matthew Stafford leads the Detroit offense after throwing for 305 yards and three touchdowns last week at Tampa Bay. RB Jahvid Best paced Detroit with 72 yards against the Buccaneers while WR Calvin Johnson had 88 receiving yards with two scores. On the defensive side of the ball, CB Chris Houston intercepted a Tampa Bay QB Josh Freeman pass.

Kansas City ranked in the NFL’s top 10 in 10 different categories at the end of the 2010 season. The Chiefs won the league’s rushing title, registering 2,627 rushing yards. On the road in 2010, the Chiefs gained a 1,164 rushing yards to rank fifth in the league.

The Chiefs finished 11th in the NFL a year ago, allowing 326 total points. Kansas City only allowed its opponents to score on 28.1% of their offensive drives, the seventh-lowest mark in the NFL. CB Brandon Flowers, LB Derrick Johnson and S Eric Berry each returned an interception for a touchdown.

QB Matt Cassel begins his third season at the helm of the offense after garnering a Pro Bowl invite a year ago. RB Jamaal Charles finished second in the NFL in 2010 with 1,467 rushing yards to earn his first Pro Bowl invite. WR Dwayne Bowe caught a league-high 15 TDs and was elected to his initial Pro Bowl. On defense, Johnson paced the club with a career-high 147 tackles.

Kansas City has a trip to San Diego for a contest with the Chargers on Sunday, Sept. 25 at 3:05 p.m. (CT). Up next for Detroit is a game at Minnesota on Sunday, Sept. 25 at Noon (CT).
