MSS you did not let us down! We all know the deal with emotional eating, or at least I know I do. You came out on top a winner, by ending the month at the place you started, not 10 or 20 lbs heavier. I think thats a huge ackomplishment :)

I did not do well. I started @ 182 thru the month I gained and then lost back down to 182 where I started. Sorry to have have let my team down. This month I was told the business I work for going to have to liquidate and I let the stress fuel my overeating, like I always let stress do. But another company is buying our co. and I am ready to try again and make October the month that I show that I acheive my goal weight of 145.

It wasn't easy thats for sure. I worked with a no-excuses attitude and pushed forward. I still deal with emotional eating and food addiction every day, but I am finally at the point where I am starting to win the battle.

There was a time I never though I would lose weight, That I was destined to be a failure!

I am proud to say i am down 15 lbs since the challenge start *happy dance* after years of just not getting it, or doing enough. I finally got it! I really believe teh challenge helped. Knowing that someone out there was giving 100 % just like me made me not feel so alone :)

ok, y'all! You're doing great! Let's get through September, But just so you know, October's challenge is posted and sign ups will go through Sunday night. (teams will be posted Monday evening when I get through all the paperwork related crap!)

PS: Carebeargoddes, drink lots of water, it helps flush the sodium that causes the bloating, and nourish the blood stream, cutting down on cramping.

Exercise, exercise, exercise....it helps with cravings AND bloating/cramping (in addition to a little ibuprofen) - at least this works for me. But for anyone who thinks that these monthly "cravings" are all in our head (I'm not naming any names but he is a particular man whose last name I share and is the father of my daughter and lives in my house) they are RIDICULOUSLY real. I can be cruising along just fine, all disciplined and into and feeling healthy then BOOM. It's amazing and difficult....but you will feel awesome if you defeat this particular demon!!! Good luck, sistah....

Stay encourage PJUDGE. Last year, I lost 23 pounds then I plateau for one year. Yes, no matter what I did I stayed at 191. I found out about this website and I have lost 7 pounds! You can do it! Don't get depressed. The encouragement and the wealth of information frm this site has helped a great deal. Again stay encouraged! YOU CAN DO IT!

PERSEPHONEJUDE I agree with everyone else you can do this. I started out on my weight loss journey at the second highest I have ever weighed and the highest was when I was pregnant. I was 252.4 and it has been challenge to make sure to eat right and not just fall back into my old habits and to make sure to get in plenty of exercise. I am now at 219.8 and not looking back at all. Mixing up your diet and workouts really does help. I know that I would get depressed a lot about my weight and not being able to lose weight and honestly the best thing that helped me was getting outside and working in the yard and going for walks. I promise it will help your mood just remember to keep plenty of water handy so you stay hydrated. Keep up the great work you have already accomplished so much by losing 10.5 lbs. We are all here for you.

I just read something about that "keep your body guessing" plan on another website. It sounds interesting.

Something else you can try is eating more often (5-6 times daily) and making sure you eat a protein every time you have carbs. It keeps your metabolism going all day instead of starting and stopping and starting and stopping. This idea came from Michael Thurmon's 6 wk. Total Body Makeover.
Of course he also advocates no sugar, no salt, and no fat for 2 weeks straight to supercharge the metabolism. I did this a few years back and it worked great. Only problem is that the food has basically no flavor... at least until you get used to tasting the subtle flavor that food naturally has.

Hey, PJUDE try cycling your calories.I was right where you are now basically starving myself and seeing no results.I started eating low calories for 3 days and on the 4th day have a high calorie day.It sounds crazy but it works!Your body can only handle 3 days of low calorie intake any more than that and your body goes into starvation mode and stops burning fat.You have to keep your body guessing.If you try this be sure to count calories(example If you eat 1500 calories for 3 days on the 4th day eat 2000 calories) Try this out and see if it works for you.1more thing strength train 3 days a week but do it at a cardio pace,don`t rest more than 30 seconds in between sets,do 2 exercises for each body part.GOD BLESS YOU.You can do anything through CHRIST who strengthens you.Hope this helps.

OK, PJude....STOP THAT RIGHT NOW! I just read your sparkpage, and you said that you are proud of yourself and you ROCK....right??!! We are proud of you too. It is so cool to have the support of people from all around the world at your fingertips day or night. Losing weight and getting healthy before sparkpeople and/or computers must have been very lonely LOL. What is going on right now? Does the eating need to be tweaked, does the exercise need to be ramped up? You know what you need to do. Trust yourself. You've already met your first goal. Sorry I have been neglecting the group :( Curling season is starting and I have a ton to do. Things should slow down in a couple of weeks, after I have the new rules ect laid out :)

I lost 4.5 lbs this past week! I am now officially down 10 lbs since the challenge started and have made my goal weight for the challenge! I am pretty excited about that.

Thanx guys it feels really good to see my time going down. My goal is to be able to do a 10 minute mile someday or even shorter. It was really cool spreading the spark to those people and then hearing them cheer me on as I would do some running in amongst my walking and telling everyone else how I have lost 29 lbs in 3 months and how I am getting in shape and going to blow my husband's mind away when he comes home from Iraq. It was such a high to see people want to be like me and want to know my secret. I simply told them that I had no secret and I told them it's all about a great support system and watching what you eat, but also knowing that you don't have to cut everything out of your diet just limit some stuff. I then told them about the great support you can get on sparkpeople along with all the articles,workouts, strength training exercises, and everything else.

Remember to get those last chance workouts in guys tomorrow is our last real weigh in until the end of the month. We can do this and can achieve anything. Let's go BLUE TEAM!!!!

Ok I seriously think this was a fluke, but I am taking it regardless and I did 4 miles in one hour today. That is a 1 minute improvement from a week ago!!!!! I also spread the spark to 5 people while out for my 4 mile walk this evening. I'm so excited right now!!! GO BLUE TEAM WE CAN DO THIS!!!!!

I haven't been writing because my weight loss went a little stagnant for a while. At the beginning of the month I dropped a few pounds, then I gained, then dropped and finally I've lost a few more pounds (yay!)
So now I'm at 227.3 and out of my rut. I feel like I'm back on track now and pretty psyched about it.

Ok folks, here are the standings after 2 weeks for our team. We have 58 team members, so I'm going to list the top 5 losers so far. Remember, the month isn't over, and it's based on %, so you still have a chance to get the top prize, Although i'm pretty sure you'll have to fight for it!!!

Thanks Midi!

If anyone has tickers, but "forgets" to weigh in, I take the weight off their ticker if I can. If their ticker is set up for Lbs lost, I can't do that without doing the math. (and honestly, it's too much of a pain.) so I will email them a request.

I promise you can do this Fit and we are all here to help and support you in any way we can. This team is full of amazing people and I know that if I ever need some extra support that they are all here for me just like we will all be here for you now and always. Just stick with it and even if you don't lose a pound what really matters is that you are here and making an effort to becoming a healthier you and that in itself is the greatest reward.

Sorry Blue I'm out, for 2 weeks I haven't been consistant with anything. I'm starting fresh today & I may just get out of 180's for this month. I will join the Oct. challlenge with 100% of myself. I aimed to high in the beginning instead of taking it a day at a time embracing the challenges as they come.

So far to date we've lost 114 lbs. That is amazing! And I'm still waiting on about 9 weigh in's for this week.

Sometimes the changes aren't with the numbers on the scale, but in the numbers on our pants. Be happy to see changes, and don't get frustrated with your progress (or imagined lack thereof) Even if you're not "losing", you've made the changes to give yourself a healthier and happier life, and at the end of the day, that's what is most important!!!

*The number on the scale just isn't moving which is so frustrating. I have been eating healthy, staying within my daily calorie range and working out consistently. The good news is that I have lost 2" off my waist in the past two weeks so I'm hoping that I am losing fat and gaining muscle. I know that's a good thing but I really want the scale to move!
