Thanks Merilees!
Last night I went home and did a Samba workout. It was fun, I rented the video for a trial to see if I could do it, and it was okay. Not too fast for me, but a good workout, I was sweating!
I also ate 5 servings of fruits/veggies yesterday!
Lets go Resolve!!

You go girl.

The sign up is up. Let's melt away those pounds in February. It's time to see that scale go down again.

Let's see... best monthly tip this month...
Building the muscle to burn the fat.
If it works for the Biggest Losers, it works for me.

I fell off the track, but no excuses any more, someone has lovingly kicked me backed into action!
This is the last week of the challenge and a perfect time to get back on track!! With attitude, eating and exercise! So lets go Team Resolve, we can still pull it together.
Have sign ups for the February challenge taken place yet? I think I better get my name on there quickly!!

What happened to Team Resolve?
I'd say we lost ground, but I don't think we even got running. We were left in the dust of Team Perseverence! Cough, cough.

I see that I am not the only one behind on this challenge. Still, my apologies to the rest of the team for not being such a great team member this month.
I went up at weigh in, 155.6, up another pound and a halfish.
I need to go back and add up my points for last week. I will do better in February, I really got off track with the holiday and am having a hard time getting back on board!

Another apology from me. I am so sorry I haven't kept up with the team challenge. I have been so off track lately with everything.
Today I am going to sit down and count back and get on track and post!

emoticon that is me hiding behind sun glasses because I have not been a very good leg of this team this month...I'm just not back 'on track' since the holiday. I have picked up the exercise this week, which is what was my biggest drop, so hopefully I can add some points to the group this week. Weigh in, I'll let you all know how that goes this weekend.. emoticon

My late check in.

This week has been abysmal. I tripped on sunday and sprained a ligament. I've been pretty much inactive since walking is hard, even. It's directly irritating.

Points tally including challenge:

1/11: 8
1/12: 4
1/13: 5
1/14: 4
1/15: 8
1/16: 4
1/17: 5

Total: 38.

Weight lost? None.

Goals:

155 lbs by April 30, 2009.
32 inch waist

Swim 2.5km in one workout. Completed! December 2008.

New Goal: Run 2.4km in less than 12 minutes.

I screwed up in posting my points from last week, so if I can get a "do over", here they are:

From January 1 to Janaury 3, I actually had 14 points. 5 exercise, 3 nutrition, and 2 well being, and 3 for doing the daily challenges.

Now for this week, from January 4 to January 10, I got 39 points.
Exercise = 12
Nutrition = 14
Well being = 8
Challenge = 5

I'm a bit confused on the challenge for January 7. It says "Wild Card Wednesday - Double Points !" So, if the points for that day are doubled, I should get 6 more, as that day I had 3 exercise, 2 nutrition, and 1 well being. However, there was nothing to do in order to complete that day's challenge, so I did not count it as having a challenge point that day. If this is correct, my point total for the week should be 45, not 39.

Weight: 297
Lost: 8 pounds this week !
How: Worked my butt off, watched nutrition.

Don't get discouraged ! I started out at 305, and it seems that those of us with the most to lose seem to sometimes drop a bunch of weight quickly. Later on, when I have plateaued, I will be happy to lose a pound a week, as that is my goal. One pound a week for 2 years means I will be right about the 200 pound mark, which is my goal weight.

Let's go, Team Resolve !!!!

The ugly fat monster is living under my skin, and I can't stand it anymore !!!! He has to leave ! NOW !

Mike

Ok, so holiday leftovers are pretty much gone, except for the fudge I brought to work today to get rid of! But then, so did everyone else! I wound up having 2 cookies and a piece of my own fudge too! Yikes! That really worked! I swear I need blinders to resist the urge for sweets! But, I did drink lots of water and I plan to work out when I get off tonight (that's after 10pm) to make up for it;)

So just for kicks, I am reporting that I whooped the Cardio Monday challenge. I am impressed that I survived 40 minutes of running with no one yelling or cheering at me! (I dislike running, but feel a need to conquer it since I am unlikely to get my black belt otherwise).

However, I have some muscles whining about how they'd much rather go back to swimming where they don't have to do nearly as much.

Additionally, today's challenge is to tell everyone how I am dealing with holiday leftovers.

The truth? I'm not! I didn't do the cooking for the holidays. I just managed to artfully dodge the spree of leftover pawning that went on on the 27th and 28th.

I've always been pretty stunned by the amount of food left over at any of my boyfriend's family functions... I am not used to that obscene level of overabundance. A whole cooked turkey and half a ham were among the foisted leftovers. Stunning.

In my family, leftovers were a non-entity.

So this year, I am just running for the hills, shouting "No thank you!" the whole way. I'll figure out a more creative strategy later.

My running challenge points INCLUDING daily challenge:
1/09 5
2/09 7
3/09 7
4/09 4
5/09 5
6/09 7
Total 35 points.

Boy do I feel rotten... I forgot all about this thread. You guys probably thought I didn't even care.
Can I chalk it up to the business of the New Year and welcoming all these new people? I know... excuses excuses.

Anyway, I started the year at 166 pounds and am .1 pound away from 165 now. Got in my 30+ mins. cardio every day of the year so far. I'm drinking my water...I did a blog today, and my holiday leftovers are almost gone. Does that cover all the bases so far?

Go team!

Here's my pts. so far:

2 5
3 6

Sorry I'm late with my posting.
Max points available are 5 plus exercise pts. right?

A little late, but SHIAMI is correct in calculating points. 1 point for 10 minutes or more of me time, so basically 1 point per day for me time.

Are we supposed to post our challenge points daily, or are we just supposed to keep track of them and post them once a week ?

Thanks,

Shiami,

THANK YOU !!!

I COMPLETELY forgot about the points mentioned in the challenge introduction. Thanks for helping me out.

DH = Dear Husband. I should have thought of that, but, being a guy, I don't have a DH, just a DW, so it escaped me !

Thanks,

Mike

DH is DEAR HUSBAND or DA*% whichever the situation calls for.

I never got an answer to the "Self time" points so that is what I put down.

Okay, so in regards to questions, I'll answer what I can, but anyone who knows better can feel free to correct me.

My interpretation is that DH is sparkpeople slang for "Dear Husband" or something like that. I can't be sure though, because I don't have one :P

Secondly as for the points, here's how I've been working it out.

This is from the post explaining the challenge:

Here's how you earn your points:
Exercise:
1 point for 30 minutes or less
2 points for 30-60 minutes
3 points for 60+ minutes

Nutrition:
1 point for staying in your calorie range
1 point for drinking 8 glasses of water

Well Being:
1 point for getting 8 hours of sleep per night
1 point for 10 minutes or more "self" time

So the concept I got was that you could either get 1, 2, or 3 points for excercise, and one additional point for completing on of the other four mini goals for a total of up to seven points in a day.

I don't think you get a point for EACH ten minutes of self time, otherwise that two hour bubble bath I had would be racking in the points for me.

Using spark points? Yeah that came way out of left field for me. They weren't even mentioned in the instructions.

Keep in mind though, I don't include that extra point you get for completing the "daily challenge". Y'know, the things like "Check in" or "Blog your results" or "eliminate the cookies in your house!".

I guess if we were keeping track of that ourselves, it would be up to eight points in a day.

My weight today is 300.

A couple of questions:

1. What does DH stand for ?

2. How is everyone calculating their points ? I thought it was supposed to be spark points, but seeing how everyone is breaking them down, I think I might not be doing it right.

When I see sleep=1, nutrition = 2, me time = 2, etc., I have no idea how people are coming up with those numbers.

Someone, please educate me !

Thanks,

Mike

January 4-
60 min. of exercise = 2 points

8 hours of sleep = 1 point

"self time" = 54 points (9 hours while DH is at work x 60 minutes in an hour = 540 minutes divided by 10 minutes for points = 54 points.

Day 3- First check in: post your points and weight loss.

I haven't lost any weight yet, this challenge is only 3 days old
Post ponts?
I'm assuming posting points means the ones from Thurs & Fri. which is all of 4 points.
As far as "self time" My DH left for work at 6AM & got home at 3PM, to me those hours were "self time" since I have NO kids here, I don't work, I have no place to go. So please tell me what you would consider Self time for me.

We CAN do this!

My favorite holiday memory was Christmas morning, I had all my children here and watched my grankids open their gifts.

Weigh in 203, I have gain wt since I last weighed in but I see light at the end of the tunnel.
I went to swimnastic class for 50 min. this morning and took a short walk went my grankids. so looks like I'm off to a fair start.

Hello Team Resolve! Glad to see we're off to a good start still!

There's been some question about when to post your daily points. I'll leave it up to each of you. If you are more comfortable posting a weekly total on check in days, fine. If you are more accountable with daily point posts, great! Do whatever will bring you the greatest success!

Hi gang,

I wasn't home yesterday, so here are my Goals for this month...

December has been a bit rough, I totally fell off the wagon (again), but that's o.k. I'm getting back on, and that's the important thing. I gained during December, and I'm up to 160 (gotta change my weigh-in, I haven't come on sparkpeople very much in December) so my goals are:

Lose 5 pounds during the month
Train at least 5 days a week
Log food eaten
Drink at least 6 glasses of water (to start)

My favorite holiday memory this year,is Christmas eve, it was the very first time I was the one to organize the family Christmas party, and it was a hit!!!

I wish everybody a healthy and joyful year.

GMT - 4 (EDT) (for challenge purposes)

Day 2:
Exercise - 5 minutes on the treadmill (Thurs./Fri are my weekends)

Nutrition - My calorie range is 1200-1300, I'm diabetic. It is difficult to track some of my food since I live in a foreign country so I have to enter almost everything I eat or cook manually to get calorie numbers.

Well Being - 8 hours sleep on Thursday night, not sure how to track the "Me time" DH does his thing and I do my thing.

Challenge item for day 2:
Post your favorite holiday memory from this year's festivities.
That's hard, it's just me & the DH, nothing special happened, it was basically the same as any other day except we opened gifts. There were no parties, no gatherings etc.
We did get to talk to both our grown, adult kids on Christmas day though. He had the day off because it was on a Weekend day here, "western" holidays don't count here.
