I noticed this is an older post, but if you are still having issues, I ABSOLUTELY swear by calcium/magnesium/zinc tablets. I feel relief within 20 minutes of taking a combo tablet! If one doesn't cut it, I take another for complete relief. I suffered from horrible debilitating craps for years until I read this in Dr. Earl Mindell's Vitamin Bible. Truly life changing lil tablet for me. Inexpensive, and it helps without feeling like I'm polluting my system. Hope it helps and you find relief!

Yoga really helps me with my cramps. Go slowly from cat pose into cobra then child's pose and hold for as long as you like. I find that keeping my knees in a wide stance during child's pose really opens my hips and stretches my lower stomach which helps with reducing cramps.

I am a medical marijuana patient in Michigan, and I can say that cannabis is the only thing that is able to touch my cramps. I don't even have to smoke it, there are lotions, roll-on's, tinctures, etc.

If you can get prescribed marijuana where you live, I hear from a ton of women that this is the only thing that touches their cramps.

Few things:

Raspberry leaf tea. You can take it in capsule form as well. Consumption of caffeine and meat (possibly dairy as well) can cause cramps for some during their cycle. The best advice I can give is EAT CLEAN, LIVE CLEAN. Food (and environment) full of hormones, antibiotics, preservatives, pesticides, herbacides, excitotoxins, etc. all mess with your body. I used to get them really bad and as I've "Cleaned Up" they have gone away. I also try to use femine products made with organic cotton and not full of additives. think about where you are putting that...it's like a gateway for toxins.

Don't use OTCs like Midol and Tylenol. Use a heating pad. Sit crosslegged on the floor (legs in pretzel position) put a small pillow behind you to support your low back and lay down on your back. This will help to open that area up and stretch it out. If you can't lay crosslegged like that put your legs in the position like your stretching your inner thighes (butterfly stretch) and lay back and relax.

I'm sure I will think of other things throught the day.

I tell you the truth, if you have faith as small as a mustard seed, you can say to this mountain, "Move from here to there" and it will move. -Matthew 17:20

I have a couple of tried and trues that I swear by -- Evening Primrose Oil is A-MAZING for the monthly issues. When I was taking it, I noticed an improvement over my overall PMS sypmtoms aside from just the cramping -- breast tenderness went away, my mood improved, cramps improved.

Also another GREAT one is apple cider vinegar -- I recommend the REAL stuff, Bragg's AVC that is organic, unfiltered, unpasteurized -- drank in a glass of warm (not hot) water 2-3 times a day REALLY helps with so many ailments, PMS is just one. I have my DD (who is 14 and gets really bad cramps) take it and she sees an instant improvement over her "stuff"

Big question is, do U have other issues other than the bad cramps? If so, I'm thinking U may have a hormone imbalance. NATURAL Progesterone Cream SAVED MY LIFE! Try reading 1 of Dr. John Lee's books on hormones. I used his "Uber Balance" & it did wonders for me for several yrs, up until just the past couple of yrs. I had to turn to bio-denticals (U have to find a compounding pharmacist, tho, & then a Dr that will sign off on the prescript for them). I found 1 if U need 1, he mails bio-denticals all over the country. It was quite a process, but in the long run, FOR ME, it is/was worth it all. I don't have the cramps anymore (& trust me, I had them bad, too. Couch ridden bad), the headaches, lethargy, back pain, painful lumps in the breasts, moodiness, etc. I'm not saying U need them, just sometimes the BAD cramps are signs of other issues.

There are no guarantees, but I have had some success with Evening Primrose oil 1300 mg, 2 capsules daily, and Calm magnesium powder 3 tsp. I also take chammomile tea and ginger tea. This takes the edge off for me and with that I may only need a few doses of Advil. Previously they were so bad they would not even respond to narcotics! Good luck!

Does anyone know any natural ingredients to treat menstrual cramps? I've tried mint tea and it worked for a short time but it didn't help. I have a heating pad that makes it feel better but the cramps seem to break through. Midol doesn't work, Tylenol doesn't work. Ibuprofen is the only thing that works and gets rid of the cramps but I honestly hate taking any kind of over the counter/prescription medicine. Any natural things that are gaurenteed to take the cramps away? I really hope there are because my cramps can get extremely bad :(
