Wow, OK I see what you are saying. It is similar with me and dairy products. I used to have bad reactions immediately and now I can do a little if I don't take it too far. I won't voluntarily test the gluten though!

No, definitely not Celiac, just sensitive to some foods. And, since I've gone off grains for a while, when I do do a grain, especially one that is as allergenic as wheat, I have a reaction. A little gluten here and there never bothers me. If I were Celiac I wouldn't be able to tolerate any gluten. That just isn't the case.

A lot of people are sensitive to some particular foods but don't know it. They go on eating them and have low grade discomforts, susceptibility to infections, aches, pains, etc but never know the cause. When, after having good sensitivity testing done, they find out which foods are causing an antibody reaction, they then remove those foods and find that their health often improves drastically. If they eat one of the highly reactive foods after going off of it for a while they might even have a very severe reaction even though they were eating it before the test without any such known reaction. It's a very interesting phenomenon. The nice thing about all this is that often, the body just needs a rest from the reactive foods and then slowly, carefully those foods can be reintroduced to the diet without problems. However, wheat is a very allergenic food substance. It's mostly from the wheat protein that the sensitivity happens.

I ended up in the emergency room after accidentally eating some tofu after not having any soy for about 3 months. It was a frightening experience. But I could do some soy now and not have that sort of reaction. At that time I had eliminated many reactive foods from my diet, soy being just one of them. But now I don't eat soy for other reasons--I don't think it's really the health food so many people think it is and the estrogen thing bothers me anyway.

Oh boy, look at the clock; I should be in bed.

Hospitals are terrific for traumatic care; for acute care. They do a really, really good job in saving lives when it's a sudden bleeding emergency. But in terms of chronic care, they're terrible; (that is) in terms of the illnesses that most people have, endure, that cost the most money, that last the longest and ultimately die from. -Dr. Andrew Saul

Wow Annie! Are you sure you are not a Celiac? That sounds like something that happenned to me on my last wheat meal before my blood test...

I am doing great with cardio, diet is always a work in progress as is my ST! I cannot motivate myself for ST at all! Yoga has had to suffice because I enjoy it, but I even have trouble getting to that sometimes.

I am needing more water lately for running and having a hard time getting it all in...I think I need like 12-15 glasses in this heat and it can be a struggle!

I'm feeling better than ever lately. Lots of energy and getting a lot done around here. I have been on track every day except yesterday when I went off a bit and ate things that aren't good for me (namely wheat) and I paid for it in the evening with irregular heartbeats (A-Fib) and fatigue. But I slept like a baby and woke up refreshed, ready to get back on track. So far, so good.

Times like yesterday are such good experiences 'cuz they only cement in place the real reason to eat well. It's not about losing weight, it's about feeling great. And when you are feeling great you are probably losing unwanted pounds in a very healthy way.

Health first - weight follows naturally. I gotta practice what I preach, eh?

I am doing pretty well with staying in my calorie range but my exercise is starting to slow down. Had a chest cold last week and didn't want to make it worse with cardio and I think it took part of my motivation away. I also have been really busy getting my house organized in the next few weeks, so my exercise has been set aside a bit. I need to re-evaluate my goals so that I can get that motivation again!

food is good for the most part. It's summer, lots of fresh freggies, water is NOT an issue EVER for me, but a cold Margarita tastes better 2Xs/wk instead of 1. LOL! Hubby is doing all kinds of house repairs & he gets really hot & sweaty, likes the idea of a Margarita on Thurs instead of Sat, so we indulge. But then comes along Sat night & 1 sounds good again. We only have 1 each, but seriously, we can't do this every wk! LOL! Also ice cream. I'm only doing 1 serving/day, but b/c no1 else eats what I eat (ALL NATURAL raspberry/white choco frozen yogurt, NO PRESERVATIVES!), I'm enjoying it almost every day. I haven't gained, but b/c LACK OF EXERCISE is my other issue this summer, I'm not losing. Ice cream is gone, I told hubby no alcohol for me until the 4th of July, & I'm working on getting my cardio back in like I should. I'm still doing ST class 3Xs/wk, so it's not like I'm not doing anything, just not the most important thing, the cardio.

Right now, I feel like I am doing so well. I am happy with my weight gain so far (23 pounds for 34 -- almost 35 weeks), my food has been fresh & healthy options and exercise is hanging in there. I wish I had more energy for more but I am really feeling myself slowing down at this point so I do what I can and am happy as heck with that. Yoga still is my driving force for my exercising. It keeps me feeling great and helps with the normal pregnancy aches and pains.

Morning all! I hope everyone had a fantastic weekend and are ready for a new week ahead!

I thought doing a general check-in today would be good -- how is everyone doing with the basics... how's your water intake? your food? your exercise? Is there anything that you're particularly struggling with at this time?
