Woohoo to your son being able to be with that many people---must have been the wide open spaces. And glad that he is developing a woodworking talent---that is something he can do on his own. Too bad you don't live near any Amish craftmen---they often will take a young man with his problems in and teach them---their calm quiet air about them would really sooth him.
I don't know if there are any openings here, but we have one of the best small zoos in the USA and they have just built an animal clinic on the premises for the care of their animals so they might be expanding their staff. It is in Salisbury, MD---not the larger animals she might want but a foot in the door at a smaller zoo might lead to a position in a larger one.

Update: My son with Aspergers (I will NEVER spell that correctly!) He has been going out every week hiking, kayaking, and back packing. Some on his own, some with a GROUP of friends. One of these camping groups met up with an other camping group, shared the space and had almost 50 people!! This with the kid who couldn't have 5 people in the same room! emoticon emoticon

He also has a friend (older gentleman) who started making wooden pens. We laughed at his last obsession. BUT he makes a few hundred dollars a month. SO my son has been playing with his equipment making wands, goblets, pens, and having fun. He wants to try his hand at selling some of them. The older gentleman is buying a duplicating lathe, so my son will try his hand at furniture restoration. (We own an Antiques Center and can get him a ton of work if he can carve replacement parts, such as bed posts.) Keep your fingers crossed.

My daughter is still out in Oklahoma, but looking for a job in a zoo anywhere in the country. I got her a couple leads in Illinois and DC.
